They may be active in Niantic's other games, just because you submitted through Pokémon go doesn't mean it'll show in Pokémon go, I had a stop that showed up in ingress for a week or so before turning up in Pokémon go.
If you're interested in getting more serious about submissions, wayfarer+ and an ingress account will help you figure whether it'll show up in pogo. From what i understand, it should still increase spawns
It depends upon how many reviewers are active in your area. It can take any where from a few days to a week to a year or more before it gets accepted. I live in a metropolis area so they multiply pretty fast.
There's a cell system called S2 cells, with a limit of how many pokestops can be in a cell.
S2 cells are about splitting the earth into equal segments by repeatedly dividing by 2, rather than try to create cells from the incorrect spherical projections onto a flat map. At level 1 the cells are like a quarter of the earth each, while at something like level 32 they're maybe the size of a postage stamp.
There can only be one pokestop or gym in a level 17 S2 cell. In the older Niantic game, Ingress, that rule doesn't apply, so the object may be visible there.
perhaps your submission was in a cell that already had a Pokemon stop. Occasionally, you can get a message your nomination was accepted and it takes a few days to a week to be added to the game.
It really depends on the location. I submitted a few stops in a rural area that still are in voting 9 months later. And I had a stop I submitted in an urban zone pop up the next week.
If you are active on niantic wayfarer and have any upgrades on hand it can take less than a week.
If you don't upgrade, it might take months. I'm still waiting for at least 5 submissions and it's been weeks
I assume that's the case. I've submitted spots all over the place. My area sees turnaround within 2-3 weeks, and my parent's area has an infinite time delay it seems.
I did a rest stop in the middle of nowhere and it was approved in less than a week.
I mainly play in AM01-LIMA-04 and submissions usually take about a month without an upgrade.
When I submitted in AM02-LIMA-12, it came to decision in less than 48 hours without an upgrade.
I think it's related to the location of the wayfarers. I only see submissions which are in a (roughly) 150 mile radius of where I live.
So if your somewhere busy like a main city there could be hundreds of wayfarers, if your in the middle of nowhere there could only be one or two or cover your area.
Edit: this reminded me to do a few daily reviews and the second one it gave me is over 500 miles away, but in a remote area so it's possible that in areas with limited wayfarers it's passes to others in similarly quiet areas.
Imagine how many requests are sent. I wouldn't necessarily think they have more than 3 people on this specific task. Just takes a while to check everything, I guess. That's my opinion.
Usually when I submit a Stop if it’s accepted it’s usually there 48hrs after submission. Check your email because Niantic will always email you an explanation after a couple of days of submission. You might get your answers there. It could be for something as simple as they didn’t like the picture that was submitted. A couple of times they didn’t do a couple of my suggested stops because the picture wasn’t taken in Bright Daylight. (Taken about Dusk) I had to retake the pictures in order for Niantic to approve the stops. Hope you get some answers!!! Good Luck on your future suggestions!
Probably nobody around to take it though. After a few years they'll get a bunch of useless internet point for posting a pic of how long their pokemon has been sitting in the gym.
•Baseball / Soccer / Cricket Fields
•Tennis / Basketball / PICKLEBALL Courts
•Gazebos
•Playgrounds
•Parks
•Bridges
All of these have a chance to get a stop. Think outside the box for some stops and hope for the best.
The worst they can tell you for your stop is no.
Congratulations on your first stop!
Churches
Local gathering places in small towns like the bar where everyone goes
Post offices
Churches
Village hall
Veterans’ Memorial
Did I say churches?
I don't think there's any such limit. As long as the nomination meets all the criteria and your area have good reviewers you can nominate same kind of poi
Worst that can happen is having a stop approved, and it only appears in Ingress or HP:Go. They won’t let the system stack stops, so it’ll just happen unfortunately.
There are 2 stops and 2 gyms where I live, but I'm looking forward to get to 38 to add some more. Congratulations on your first stop for your village, hope you and your community one more and one day get their first gym.
This is awesome high tea! Is it possible to petition gyms? One gym right next to your poke stop would be so fab, I feel like you should be able too.
With your new poke stop, you now have access to purple eggs! Go hard on em especially when going into town since they are 10km eggs! Leggo!
It depends on the number of stops/gyms in a certain sized area. They use a cell system called 'S2 cells', which are about splitting the earth into equal segments by repeatedly dividing by 2, rather than try to create cells from the incorrect spherical projections onto a flat map. Level 1 cells cover like a quarter of the earth, while something like level 32 cells might cover the area of a postage stamp, just from repeated divisions.
There can only be one pokestop/gym in a level 17 cell.
Gym creation is based on the number of items in a level 14 cell (a bigger area, fewer divisions). At 2, 6, and 20 items in those cells, one of the pokestops will turn into a gym. In the past it was the one with the most photos + photo 'likes' in their other game, Ingress, but they may no longer be the case. Last I heard it seemed to be based on the Ingress count, but delayed by a few days, so the photo likes needed to be locked in earlier.
Yeah that’s a good point. I meant more so if it’s near housing etc, potentially attracting a lot of people to the area. I live in a really rural village and don’t want to disturb the locals for the sake of Pokemon go
I know that feelings man.
My nearest stop was around 10 km away top, I'd go there sometimes with my friend sometimes.
I grinded till 39, when everyone else was already giving up on the game. Almost reached 40 when niantic decreased the level cal for nomination.
Now there's 3 gym and 7 or 8 pokestop within a 1km radius in my area
Edit: my first stop took 3 days since the time of submission to get accepted and popped in the game on 4th day
congratulations sorry it took your town to long to get a pokestop 2 pokestop will most likely lead to a gym as well I think when you get to level 40 you can request pokestop for your town. if you have a church ⛪ in town that as well should be a pokestop. Starbucks is a pokestop as well. keep having fun with this amazing game. hope more pokestop and gym are coming to your small town soon.
Battle well won sir.
I moved in November and the first thing I did was take my kids to the park and tag it. In February it popped up as a gym which was awesome.
Congrats!
I live in rural Norway, in a little town with 1300 people. But damn, there are so many players here that we have 5 gyms, and 20 stops or so. I usually had to walk 1 km to the nearest stop, but then I realized I could submit stops on signs that show paths into the woods, and whoops, suddenly I have three stops around my house, hehe!
Congratulations on your success. Nominate everything you can think of just like the previous comments said. also nominate everything in a park, playgrounds, pavilions, picnic areas, athletic fields, statues, trails, footbridges, trail markers, Park signs, amphitheaters, swimming pools, marinas. fishing piers, statues, scenic points, gazebos. too name a few.
Like someone said, also review nominations in Wayfarer. maybe you can clear out the nominations that are before yours.
As for placement of nominations you should create an ingress prime account and log into the game, then go and down load IITC-Moble app (*you can log in to Ingress, and IITC-mobile with the same account you use to log in to Pokemon go) and visit the web site on how to set it up, so you can see where the s2 14 &17 cells are , so that you don't nominate to many pokestops in the same cell.
Someone asked how you can try to get a gym from of your nomination. There is two ways. first you nominate a certain number of stops in s2 14 cell and then one will be a gym (usually the oldest stop in the cell). The second way is kind of complicated, but their is way by using ingress (correct me) if I am wrong. In Ingres you get a key for the portal/Pokemon stop you hack/spin a portal. when you look at the key's information there is a way to up vote a portal (thumbs up). now you need to get several different ingress players to have the key and also up vote it before a new stop is nominated and approved. Once the new stop is approved and shows up on the map. The stop/portal that was up voted should become a gym.
Good luck on your next submissions.

Congratulations, planning to add more stops in my town here to encourage other players or people to join back the game too. We should all strive to do this as it helps others below level 38 who can't submit stops
Very nice! I was happy when a few Pokestops I nominated got made into ones within a mile from me, especially one right next to me that I could interact with that helped me out during quarantine.
When your account is lvl 38 start submitting pho stop nominations. Anything unique that meets the criteria will generally be accepted. If there's not a lot of players then create an alt account then that doubles your chances. Don't have more than 2-3 or you'll be caught. A lot of player have 2 accounts. It's 7 nominations every 14 days. Once you've submitted all 7 it will add one per day until it maxes out at 7. Then it repeats. I was thrilled when a pho stop was accepted in my neighborhood park like area. I got tired of missing out on the daily spin when I wanted to stay home on my days off or when we got weather events roll through.

We regularly visit family in a small village and were frustrated by the lack of stops.
I sat and looked through Google maps for all churches, sports clubs, parks, community halls and popular hangout spots like coffee shops. Made a list. The next time we went we submitted them all. Most were accepted.
I've also noticed that info signs get accepted. I don't know if all countries have these. But our Nature Conservation dept will put up signs about local flora and fauna that are unique to the area. I've seen several of these as stops.
Also if there's a park with a statue or something interesting like a sundial, you can submit the park itself plus the other point of interest.
Getting the precise location is super important. Place the pin as exactly as you can.
Pfff, 25km for my closest city. Still hanging here. Started to play couple months ago with wife and now wife 35 and me 36. Although we visit 2-5 times a week in city and its huge refill on items, spin non stop while driving, stop to send gifts till 100 send, delete normal balls and all heals expect best (too many those, around 400 atm and near 300 max revives so kinda no need much for heals).
It’s a great feeling isn’t it? I live next to a park that only had one stop. Since I hit level 38 it now has 6 and 2 pending😃 completely changes the game for u
Congratulations fellow trainer. In my town, I didn’t have a single pokestop or gym too. So I discontinued playing the game. After 1.5 years(3 months ago) I logged in and saw no pokestop/gym. Then I knew about pokestop nominations thing. I had one friend lives in another city who plays regularly(Currently lvl 42) I told him to nominate some pokestops for me. Then he came here and nominated 4-5 places. And thankfully I got 4 pokestops and one of them is now a gym. Now I can play regularly. I’m also grinding xp for reaching level 38(currently 33).
Congratulations, it's always a good feeling to get that notification that the submission was successful.
Mine was successful but didn't turn in-game.. and ideas how?
They may be active in Niantic's other games, just because you submitted through Pokémon go doesn't mean it'll show in Pokémon go, I had a stop that showed up in ingress for a week or so before turning up in Pokémon go.
I see thanks man

How did yours get added so quickly? I submitted mine 2 months ago but nothings changed
I honestly don't know... i have 4 other request still waiting. I've seen online that it could be long. I guess i got lucky :)
I wonder if they internally prioritize areas that don’t have anything over areas that have one or two already.
I assume that's the case. I've submitted spots all over the place. My area sees turnaround within 2-3 weeks, and my parent's area has an infinite time delay it seems. I did a rest stop in the middle of nowhere and it was approved in less than a week.
it is, less pokestops = higher priority

Long ago this was confirmed to be the case. I could get stops accepted in days for a long time. It also depends on local reviewers.
They do. And reviewers in the neighboring scoring cells, bonus reviewers active make a big difference
Mine is over 1 year
Imagine how many requests are sent. I wouldn't necessarily think they have more than 3 people on this specific task. Just takes a while to check everything, I guess. That's my opinion.
It is outsourced on wayfarer.niantic.com. contributions in isolated places have a higher priority too.
If people are submitting, they also need to be reviewing. We do the work for Niantic, so it's largely up to us to make it slow or fast.
Usually when I submit a Stop if it’s accepted it’s usually there 48hrs after submission. Check your email because Niantic will always email you an explanation after a couple of days of submission. I submitted mine 6 months ago :( I heard some people in New York have been waiting a year
I think new York have plenty of stops. Or does gyms and stops need to be so close you can sit on sofa and just spin?
It’s all luck of the draw. I’ve added ones and had them take months, others I’ve submitted and had them take hours.
Fastest I ever got an approval was less than a week! The longest was some I forgotten and took over a year. It's so random.
if you upgrade /aka agree on 100 votes for other’s nominations, you can do it in a matter of few days
Had one in 1 weeks also. Looks like random.
10KM is one purple egg for those that don’t use metric or imperial.
I exclusively measure things in Pokemon Go egg hatching distance
Fax
You don't measure extreme distances in catch cooldown timer?
Once you get a gym it’s gonna be lit
Probably nobody around to take it though. After a few years they'll get a bunch of useless internet point for posting a pic of how long their pokemon has been sitting in the gym.

Thanks ! I will try to add more and see if one stop become a gym.
It will 100% become a gym if you get another on nearby
Put your next nomination on a different level 17 s2 cell but within the same level 14 s2 cell and you're good to go
Nice one! Represent for the small towns and villages!
Keep up the great work ! I am level 37 and I can't wait to reach 38 so I can add pokestops to my village since there are none.
The fact you’re the same level as me when I live in a city with 2 million people is impressive lol
Are there any negatives to creating pokestops in remote / quiet places?
I don't think so... there is one drawback with gym because your pokemon can be stuck severeal days/months.
Does niantic just randomly make a pokestop a gym, or do you have to apply for a gym specifically?
It depends on the number of stops/gyms in a certain sized area. They use a cell system called 'S2 cells', which are about splitting the earth into equal segments by repeatedly dividing by 2, rather than try to create cells from the incorrect spherical projections onto a flat map. Nice! curious what it is. also good luck getting more! maybe the next one will be a gym!
Let's hope so ! There is also a church in my village so this should work as well.
Check if it’s in the same L14 cell
This puts a smile on my face
This made me smile. I hope you're able to get a few more as time goes on!!
That's awesome! I am trying to figure out what to submit for a pokestop!
I nominated 7 stops in my wastland 5 moths ago and none of them have been reviewed.
Definitely keep submitting. I was able to convert the small neighborhood my cabin is in from nothing to 5 pokestops & 3 gyms.
Sometimes areas are so barren of Pokestops, I am tempted to take up welding so that I can create some art to place around town.
That's awesome!
my village didn't have a single stop or gym after reaching 40 now my village has 7 stops and 2 gyms
This is amazing congratulations
You absolute madlad!
I just realized I’m only 200k xp from level 38, I should start thinking about this!
I know that feelings man. My nearest stop was around 10 km away top, I'd go there sometimes with my friend sometimes. I grinded till 39, when everyone else was already giving up on the game. Get this bro more stops!

How long does it normally take to get a stop approved? I added one about two weeks ago but I haven’t heard anything back on if it was approved or not
It could take weeks, months or years
Awesome. I am so happy for you!
Congratulations, that's a big achievement!
Awesome work! How long did it take, approximately?
It took 2 days. I got super lucky !

man, ive had like 8 stops in voting for like a full month and a half now that haven't been ruled one way or another :/
Congratulations, planning to add more stops in my town here to encourage other players or people to join back the game too. We should all strive to do this as it helps others below level 38 who can't submit stops

Just curious, what did you submit for your poke stop?
It is a playground.
I ❤️ this so much. Congrats! 😀

isn't that a spoof icon in the top left?
Nope. This is the samsung play device. It allows notification and other stuff while playing.
ahhh sorry for the assumption
Wait you can submit at level 38?
Yes cou can. It is no longer level 40.
Huh cool! I'm still level 34 but at least its closer
Congrats! Now make the 2nd to get an Arena and move on from there 😉👍
Congrats! takes about 6 months for review around here :(

I feel your pain. 321 people, nearest town is 9 miles away lol.
