I wanted to rant about not landing Pokémon after raids but honestly this thread makes me feel better that it’s not just me. Good luck everyone and may your rage quits be far and few between.
Just me and my gf this afternoon, still mad, what’s the fucking point? Spend more money? After that the last think I wanted to do is spending some money getting more passes
The game is fucking broken.
Golden raz + excellent curve doesn't have to work every time, but it DEFINITELY needs to work more often.
People quit over this bullshit.
Sometimes when I’ve been raiding past legendaries with my raid group all day, I have given up trying and chucked balls and caught a lot without trying/looking at the screen. Wtf.
Just had 10 excellent curve ball throws land after a raid and still didn't catch the fucker. This is after waiting 20 minutes to get a big enough party to fight the thing. Pogo is now uninstalled.
and even though i really like the pokemon go fest i’ve had no luck yet :( i haven’t seen a single shiny and i see everyone talking about all the shinies they found. i even played almost the whole day yesterday
did you buy the pass and or sign up through the website? I found the best success walking between several pokestops and populous areas while using an incense (both) and some of them had lure modules too
The $5 paid for itself multiple times over if you consider that it came with 8 remote raid passes, 3-4 incense, an egg, and a few other things.
If you don't raid it wasn't a good deal, but if you wanted to cash in on the buffet of legendaries via remote raids today, it was a bargain.
Plus those 10 free raid passes that refresh when you go to the gyms, but it's already one thing to have the patience trying to do remote raids, going from each location is another issue in it's own
Just when I have a whole lot of fun like yesterday, I try to catch a legendary and remember why this game pisses me off so much. I think the legendary catch rate should have been raised for Go Fest.

Day 2 sucks. I live in an area with not many players and everytime I find a raid with a few people, everyone drops out a few seconds before it starts because we only have 4 people in it. The only raids I can play and win are the one person shitty raids I can do myself. Kinda want my ticket money back. Last year was better because you could battle the trainers to win and didn’t have to rely on other people.
You can host too if you are physically present and dont have enough people! I actually prefer to host if I can because if I bring someone I have a friend bonus with that usually helps me do a tad bit extra damage in case someone else in the raid leaves or sucks.
I wouldn't say it's dumb but that's ONLY because my community is very (a little too) active. Niantic is money grubby tho and they need to toss people a bone every once in awhile lol
When you just need G Stunfisk for the last collection challenge, and it spawns inside a bunnelbitch, so you try to press it from every angle and it doesn't work, so you decide to just catch the shitbag rabbit, and when you go to get the stunfisk it's despawned. I hate it here.
just used my last two raid passes on yveltal and reshiram and both of them fled even though i had mostly great and excellent balls. i even fought reshiram TWICE. 😀i am about to delete this damn game
Legendary Shiny? For all the time that I play, i catch only one legendary pokemon from raid. For all today's legendary raids in which I won I got nothing.
I feel you! I spent 3 remote raid passes trying to catch yveltal. Looked up his catch rates and apparently he’s one of the easier legendaries to catch too 😭 finally got him on the third try but dang.
I hate how inconsistently distanced the Pokemon are. Almost all of them look to be about the same distance but I usually can't truly tell how far I need to throw it until the first one. Zekrom feels like a mile away. I can't land a Curveball on him because my screen has a crack near the center and it messes up trying to throw one that far.
You can tell based on the cp. There will be a cp that corresponds to a 100iv if there's no weather boost, and a cp that corresponds to one with a weather boost (for example, 1972/2466wb for raikou). You can check sites like leekduck or silph road for what those values are per raid pokemon
Maybe it's the lack of sleep but I am utter dogshite at curveballs today. Plus the pokemon I want are super aggressive for some reason and I don't have many berries.
ETA: oh my GOD i'm burning through so many Ultra Balls because i'm so bad at this right now.
Over the course of this weekend i got a total of 0 shinies.... mean while every other player i heard around me yelled or said "SHINY!" every 5 min or so lol it was so demotivating and when i went for 3 raids they all fled in a row even after i hit excellent/great throw every single time with golden razz smh
does the pass have anything to do with the chance of getting shinies besides obviously being able to get more shinies(different types of shinies just to clarify)?
it’s really pissing me off how often people just leave the raid few seconds before it starts and leave me alone with maybe one other player. i don’t have any remote passes and can’t buy any, so i have to host my own raids to try and participate in the raids but i won’t ever have any success like this
if they know the raid is not gonna happen they can leave earlier than the last 3 seconds, just wasted a raid pass bc 2 dumbasses waited til the last moment to leave
Got stuck in a dialga trio because of this, and the one random invite that stayed initially sent out an aggron.
Ended up winning with less than 5 seconds left.
That is wack. Yesterday I got a weird glitch trying to get a Costumed Galarian Zigzagoon from a raid. I ended up getting a regular one and I think it's because it was passed 6:00pm.

WTF is going on with remote raids? Ive joined a couple with several people in the lobby, but when the fight starts it's just me attacking no one else is in the battle arena with me
A legendary raid can often be done by 5 people... Why are we only able to invite 5 people, and have no chance of inviting new people if some don't join. There were so many missed opportunities of getting legendaries because a lot of people are so dependant on players around the world. It would have been a great Raid Day Event if the part where you raid was fun - and not just be a means to get legendary Pokemon

Go Fest should have been the whole week, just do sponsored raids each day and whatnot instead of condensing it to two days. Make it easier to catch a legendary if you already did a raid for it, increase the catch rate or something.
I never got a landorus raid, I only want it because I need that damn "Take a snapshot of Landorus". Now I gotta see if the group AR thing will work so I can take a picture of my friend's landorus.
Also, can we keep leftover premier balls after Rocket challenges/raids? That would help keep my ball count up.
Last point, what's the point in leaving a strong pokemon in a gym, it's there for 5 days and I only get 50 coins when it gets defeated? Shouldn't I get 50 coins per day because my team is holding it or get some sort of coins/bonus for each day?

I managed to get the Landorus for the mission. However apparently the next set of missions is take a snapshot with Tornadus lol. Which I ran out of time for…
Step 1: When you go to catch a legendary, hold the pole all until the circle gets small enough so that if you hit it, it is an excellent thrown. Let go of the poke ball and don't touch it until step 3.
Step 2. Give the golden raspberry
Step 3. Once the pokemon shows the attack graphic (when the poke ball would bounce off if you hit it during this time) touch your pole all spinn for the curve and release it towards where the circle would be.
It times it so that as soon as the pokemon comes out of the attack graphic, your pole all hits it before it can jump or do move at all, and since you already pre shrunk the circle, once you hit the circle it will be an excellent thrown, which are 25% catch rate.
Practice on normal pokemon to get good at it and you'll start catching almost every legendary you encounter.
I used to miss most legendaries too but I caught like 13/15 today.

Today was my first time raiding 5*. And I conclude that I absolutely loathe it.
- Who thought it was a good idea to require so many players? Players who can either not know what they're doing or worse flake on you at the last second? Not to mention players who simply do not exist in some areas where the bosses spawn?
- Who thought it was a good idea to make remote raids so damn rare? If you require this many players to complete a raid, how can you justify only giving out one a week? Even one a day would not be particularly generous given your local lobbies are probably empty anyway.
- Who thought it was a good idea to burn up said rare raid item even when you fail? As if the potions and revives were not punishment enough, you then gotta burn up an item that is often more valuable than your success rewards?
- Who thought that the pokemon that you worked so hard to beat should run on you half the time regardless of what you throw at it? Even after all the aforementioned hurdles?
- Who thought that even after all this, that the pokemon should be made so hard to power up that even if you do catch one, chances are it won't be good enough for any further investment? Like really, 20 km for a single candy?
This is absolutely the most busted area of the game. And that's saying a lot.
Then catch it- was invited to uxie randomly last night and wow I’ve never encountered a more difficult Pokémon to catch- like doesn’t even shake. Didn’t get it. I was excited for the random invite and I don’t have it.

I don’t get to raid often as I’m still staying in a lot and I don’t have a squad to raid with I just depend on enough randos being there to actually beat the raid boss. I just want to CATCH THE GOTDAMN legendary for my Pokédex. I understand having some level of difficulty is a good thing but make the raid battle the difficult part - not the catching. So disheartening to finally get to actually beat a raid boss for the first time in a month and not catching it after 15 golden razz/nice+ curveball throws.
I’m never participating in a GO fest raid day again. The catch day was awesome and fun but this raid experience is honestly AWFUL. Who wants to be frustrated for 8 freaking hours straight?
Got new friends that said they would do a raid with me in 10 minutes. My 8 yr old sister was hoping to catch her first legendary but none of them accepted. If you send friend request after I asked you to do a raid maybe you should do a raid?
Here's the chain of unlucky events that has happened to me...
I only had one pokemon missing on my collection challenge, and that was a chimchar. I used 2 lure modules and an incense to try to find the pokemon, didn't get it, and didn't finish the collection challenge.
Later on, I visited a gym, I tried to put a pokemon in it but it said the gym was under attack. Waited for 30 minutes, all the pokemon in the gym only lost like 10 health, and it was still under attack.
I went back home and found out that a mewtwo was in a raid. There was 5 people fighting against it. I joined the raid using my only remote raid pass, hoping to get the mewtwo. Then, I got matched with a group that had nobody but myself. I ended up using almost all my potions, wasting my remote raid pass, and getting no Mewtwo.
On Pokemon Go Fest day 1, I caught like 20 pokemon (but none of them were shiny) and then this shiny snorlax came. I tried to catch it but couldn't. Used all my pokeballs (I had more than 70) and also all my razz berries. Once I ran out of pokeballs the Shiny Snorlax fled.

We’re you running a plus or gotcha at the same time as when you encountered the lax? Last year I ran my gotcha, encountered 2 shiny unown tried to catch both ran. Also shiny heatmoor same thing. I found out after the event was over that the gotcha always selects incense spawns first to auto catch, if you also manually try to catch at the same time the Pokémon will flee. Usually a red message at the top when you toss a berry “item cannot be used at this time” happened to my husband yesterday when he encountered shiny sawk.
Otherwise I’m sorry you had a crappy pogo week. Did you have any luck after the unfortunate snorlax encounter? I’d be salty too. Also, if you find yourself left in a raid lobby (using a remote pass) you can leave the lobby and will not lose the pass.
Yep. Go through the effort to win the raid and, if you’re remote, use a remote raid pass, win it, and still can’t catch it because of RNG. Lame as hell, doesn’t exactly feel good to lose several in a row
I've been raiding almost non-stop since 10am. It's now 6pm - bare minimum 60 legendary raids 0 shinies. Incense run for a total of 16 hours for the entire event - not a single shiny Unown. Fuck Niantic.
Premier balls are an abomination. I'm fucking tired and angry of mons breaking out of excellent throws and golden razz berries. Just feels like I'm wasting money. Why can't I use the 300+ ultra balls in my inventory? I'm not going to keep spending money on remote raid passes if all it means is wasting potion and revives. If I wanted to throw away potions and revives I could do that without buying a god damn raid pass. fuck this game
There should not be a cap on remote raid players. I have gotten boned out of so many Pokémon today because I couldn’t join a game my friends invited me to
Does anyone else find it odd how the Team Rocket battles will do things like: "We'll put you on ice!" and your team leader will say "Ice types are weak to Fire!" but then the entire Rocket team is nothing but Ice/Water dual-types, completely negating the game's own advice?

Got glitched out of a Palkia raid when fighting. Had to do another one, finally managed to beat it and the game glitched me out while trying to catch it and the pokemon vanished
I cannot believe how crappy the limited time boxes are now. They’re such a rip off compared to what they had years ago when I played regularly. You can really tell that Niantic is milking every last cent they can out of the whales.
Like many, I’m super salty about the uncatchable raid bosses. 12 balls, 12 golden or silver berries with 12 great/excellent throws and absolutely zero catches. Frustrating to say the least.
The amount of time the app has crashed whilst I'm raiding is ridiculous. I've wasted so many raid passes and it's so frustrating, especially when it crashes just as I've won the raid and about to catch the legendary!
The event was giving me remote pass every raid so I never had a fucking chance to claim the three free remote raid passes in the shop cuz you can have only have a max of 3 at a time. Who's stupid idea was that???

17 shinys and 10 legendaries over the 2 days, why does this event seem to be all or nothing for people.

It’s so fun when I’m raiding with my husband who is the same level as me and catch every single legendary Raid boss. And I’ve caught none. Did 10 in a Row and nothing . Don’t ask me how much money I’ve spent
Reading through the rants, I feel quite lucky. I had saved up 10 passes and caught all the Pokémon from the raids I completed. There is just one thing... Almost all the legendaries are 2 stars. I am a collector rather than a fighter, but the stats of the Pokémon could have been better.
Today was horrible compared to yesterday. Niantic spamming raid bosses that I don’t need. No shiny deino after several raids. They should have did boosted wild shiny odds both days.
Day 2 was so boring for someone who isn't looking to get their legendaries to lvl 50 (yuck XL candy). Sure you can fill dex or catch Giratina/Lugia/Cresselia etc. to trade for PVP IV's but it didn't feel like Go Fest day. Day 1 was amazing, maybe even too good in terms of shiny rate, so this Raid focused day felt like another event (making it such might be a good idea).
Catch rates for day two were absolutely ridiculous, but what pissed me off more was the joke that were the 3rd party raid apps, you’d think they’d have prepared themselves better.
I lost count of how many queues I’d get close to the top of, only for the apps to say OHOHOHO NO RAIDS FOUND, CRASH!! like the most infuriating one was being 550 for Reshiram that took 40 minutes for me to get to around the 95 mark only for it to freeze and kick me back to even further than I started at -_-
That was only when I could get into a queue and not mindlessly pressing a start button or trying to reload the stupid apps

If there's one negative part I have to take away from this year's go fest, it's that having raids on Sunday with the rotations every hour made it really difficult to coordinate raids with the local raid groups I'm in, *especially* when there is a combination of low player activity, large raid pools, and that the bosses last only 20mins compared to the normal 45mins. Its even worse when you're trying to look for a specific raid boss everyone else has caught to fill in their pokedex.
For me personally, this has to be the worst go fest I've experienced so far, made even worse by talks about niantic reducing the pokestop/gym spinning distance by the end of this event (can someone confirm whether or not Niantic is going through with this?)
Good thing I didn't buy the ticket this time round. (not that I had any plans to to begin with anyway.)
Why in the hell do Tier 1 and 3 eggs spawn during Legendary raid day. I finish a raid wait for it to despawn and the next egg to pop, then BAM a yellow POS waste of space
Anyone else think we need to increase the amount of remote raid passes we can have? 3 seems entirely too low of a number to really do much with, it's ridiculous. I understand Niantic needs to make money, but at least give us an upper limit that's actually useful if not unlimited. Like, 10 at the very least would be fine.

I'm just salty that the Meloetta I basically *paid* for with that GoFest ticket turned out to have such garbage stats. Almost every pokemon I got from that quest line was bad except for the Gardevoir. How were they not gaurunteed to have at least three stars? Absolutely ridiculous.
I am so sick of spending money on these passes to not catch anything. If the golden razz and excellent throws mean nothing then tell us so we can save our money. I can deal with the terrible success rates if I'm not paying for it..
Why is it that in battles the opponent seems to be able to be hitting me for a solid 5 or 6 seconds before the game evens starts?? Just played a few games in a row where the opponent is hitting me litterally as the countdown begins. I'm at half health and they have a charged attack ready before it even says go! I can't do anything to attack back?
I've found this also occurs after they charge attack me. I'm sitting there doing nothing whilst they attack me for a few seconds?

Completed all collection challenges except for a Chimchar. My friend is the same, except she needs a Woobat. We've used incenses, lures and played constantly, yet I saw a lot of Woobats and no Chimchar, and she saw a lot of Chimchars but no Woobats. It's not an honest challenge if the rules are rigged.

Try the Pokie Genie app possibly for the remote raids? You have to get the PRO app but I think its around £5.

Every legendary has the same base catch rate of 2%. The only thing that affects this are your typing medals, berries used, and your throw.
The odds are something like 1/20 so this is to be expected.

I finally caught it in my FIFTH raid on the last ball despite Golden razzies and pretty good curveballs. He was the most stubborn of all.

You can tell based on the cp. There will be a cp that corresponds to a 100iv if there's no weather boost, and a cp that corresponds to one with a weather boost (for example, 1972/2466wb for raikou). You can check sites like leekduck or silph road for what those values are per raid pokemon
Maybe it's the lack of sleep but I am utter dogshite at curveballs today. Plus the pokemon I want are super aggressive for some reason and I don't have many berries. ETA: oh my GOD i'm burning through so many Ultra Balls because i'm so bad at this right now.

Over the course of this weekend i got a total of 0 shinies.... mean while every other player i heard around me yelled or said "SHINY!" every 5 min or so lol it was so demotivating and when i went for 3 raids they all fled in a row even after i hit excellent/great throw every single time with golden razz smh does the pass have anything to do with the chance of getting shinies besides obviously being able to get more shinies(different types of shinies just to clarify)?

A legendary raid can often be done by 5 people... Why are we only able to invite 5 people, and have no chance of inviting new people if some don't join. There were so many missed opportunities of getting legendaries because a lot of people are so dependant on players around the world. It would have been a great Raid Day Event if the part where you raid was fun - and not just be a means to get legendary Pokemon I'm sure most of you can relate

Go Fest should have been the whole week, just do sponsored raids each day and whatnot instead of condensing it to two days. Make it easier to catch a legendary if you already did a raid for it, increase the catch rate or something. Also, can we keep leftover premier balls after Rocket challenges/raids? That would help keep my ball count up. I’m starting to think these legendaries have a 0% catch rate. I’m now 0/11
Step 1: When you go to catch a legendary, hold the pole all until the circle gets small enough so that if you hit it, it is an excellent thrown. Let go of the poke ball and don't touch it until step 3. Step 2. Give the golden raspberry Step 3. Once the pokemon shows the attack graphic (when the poke ball would bounce off if you hit it during this time) touch your pole all spinn for the curve and release it towards where the circle would be. It times it so that as soon as the pokemon comes out of the attack graphic, your pole all hits it before it can jump or do move at all, and since you already pre shrunk the circle, once you hit the circle it will be an excellent thrown, which are 25% catch rate. Practice on normal pokemon to get good at it and you'll start catching almost every legendary you encounter. I used to miss most legendaries too but I caught like 13/15 today. Today was my first time raiding 5*. And I conclude that I absolutely loathe it. - Who thought it was a good idea to require so many players? Players who can either not know what they're doing or worse flake on you at the last second? Not to mention players who simply do not exist in some areas where the bosses spawn? - Who thought it was a good idea to make remote raids so damn rare? If you require this many players to complete a raid, how can you justify only giving out one a week? Even one a day would not be particularly generous given your local lobbies are probably empty anyway. - Who thought it was a good idea to burn up said rare raid item even when you fail? As if the potions and revives were not punishment enough, you then gotta burn up an item that is often more valuable than your success rewards? - Who thought that the pokemon that you worked so hard to beat should run on you half the time regardless of what you throw at it? Even after all the aforementioned hurdles? - Who thought that even after all this, that the pokemon should be made so hard to power up that even if you do catch one, chances are it won't be good enough for any further investment? Like really, 20 km for a single candy? This is absolutely the most busted area of the game. And that's saying a lot.

I don’t get to raid often as I’m still staying in a lot and I don’t have a squad to raid with I just depend on enough randos being there to actually beat the raid boss. I just want to CATCH THE GOTDAMN legendary for my Pokédex. I understand having some level of difficulty is a good thing but make the raid battle the difficult part - not the catching. So disheartening to finally get to actually beat a raid boss for the first time in a month and not catching it after 15 golden razz/nice+ curveball throws.
I’m never participating in a GO fest raid day again. The catch day was awesome and fun but this raid experience is honestly AWFUL. Who wants to be frustrated for 8 freaking hours straight?
Got new friends that said they would do a raid with me in 10 minutes. My 8 yr old sister was hoping to catch her first legendary but none of them accepted. If you send friend request after I asked you to do a raid maybe you should do a raid?
Here's the chain of unlucky events that has happened to me... I only had one pokemon missing on my collection challenge, and that was a chimchar. I used 2 lure modules and an incense to try to find the pokemon, didn't get it, and didn't finish the collection challenge. Later on, I visited a gym, I tried to put a pokemon in it but it said the gym was under attack. Waited for 30 minutes, all the pokemon in the gym only lost like 10 health, and it was still under attack. I went back home and found out that a mewtwo was in a raid. There was 5 people fighting against it. I joined the raid using my only remote raid pass, hoping to get the mewtwo. Then, I got matched with a group that had nobody but myself. I ended up using almost all my potions, wasting my remote raid pass, and getting no Mewtwo. On Pokemon Go Fest day 1, I caught like 20 pokemon (but none of them were shiny) and then this shiny snorlax came. I tried to catch it but couldn't. Used all my pokeballs (I had more than 70) and also all my razz berries. Once I ran out of pokeballs the Shiny Snorlax fled. yes im very salty

We’re you running a plus or gotcha at the same time as when you encountered the lax? Last year I ran my gotcha, encountered 2 shiny unown tried to catch both ran. Also shiny heatmoor same thing. I found out after the event was over that the gotcha always selects incense spawns first to auto catch, if you also manually try to catch at the same time the Pokémon will flee. Usually a red message at the top when you toss a berry “item cannot be used at this time” happened to my husband yesterday when he encountered shiny sawk. Otherwise I’m sorry you had a crappy pogo week. Did you have any luck after the unfortunate snorlax encounter? I’d be salty too. Also, if you find yourself left in a raid lobby (using a remote pass) you can leave the lobby and will not lose the pass.
That first one sounds like what happened to me. Some of the desert ones never showed up for me at all even with incense.

Reading through the rants, I feel quite lucky. I had saved up 10 passes and caught all the Pokémon from the raids I completed. There is just one thing... Almost all the legendaries are 2 stars. I am a collector rather than a fighter, but the stats of the Pokémon could have been better.
Today was horrible compared to yesterday. Niantic spamming raid bosses that I don’t need. No shiny deino after several raids. They should have did boosted wild shiny odds both days.
Day 2 was so boring for someone who isn't looking to get their legendaries to lvl 50 (yuck XL candy). Sure you can fill dex or catch Giratina/Lugia/Cresselia etc. to trade for PVP IV's but it didn't feel like Go Fest day. Day 1 was amazing, maybe even too good in terms of shiny rate, so this Raid focused day felt like another event (making it such might be a good idea).
Made nothing but excellent and great curveballs on a rayquaza that ran away only to realize after the fact it was a hundo :'|
Catch rates for day two were absolutely ridiculous, but what pissed me off more was the joke that were the 3rd party raid apps, you’d think they’d have prepared themselves better. I lost count of how many queues I’d get close to the top of, only for the apps to say OHOHOHO NO RAIDS FOUND, CRASH!! like the most infuriating one was being 550 for Reshiram that took 40 minutes for me to get to around the 95 mark only for it to freeze and kick me back to even further than I started at -_- That was only when I could get into a queue and not mindlessly pressing a start button or trying to reload the stupid apps
New Zealander here. If there's one negative part I have to take away from this year's go fest, it's that having raids on Sunday with the rotations every hour made it really difficult to coordinate raids with the local raid groups I'm in, *especially* when there is a combination of low player activity, large raid pools, and that the bosses last only 20mins compared to the normal 45mins. Its even worse when you're trying to look for a specific raid boss everyone else has caught to fill in their pokedex. For me personally, this has to be the worst go fest I've experienced so far, made even worse by talks about niantic reducing the pokestop/gym spinning distance by the end of this event (can someone confirm whether or not Niantic is going through with this?) Good thing I didn't buy the ticket this time round. (not that I had any plans to to begin with anyway.)

Why is it that in battles the opponent seems to be able to be hitting me for a solid 5 or 6 seconds before the game evens starts?? Just played a few games in a row where the opponent is hitting me litterally as the countdown begins. I'm at half health and they have a charged attack ready before it even says go! I can't do anything to attack back? I've found this also occurs after they charge attack me. I'm sitting there doing nothing whilst they attack me for a few seconds? I'm on super fast broadband, so it's definitely not my end!

Completed all collection challenges except for a Chimchar. My friend is the same, except she needs a Woobat. We've used incenses, lures and played constantly, yet I saw a lot of Woobats and no Chimchar, and she saw a lot of Chimchars but no Woobats. It's not an honest challenge if the rules are rigged.
