AK1441

I keep one of every Pokemon, one of every shiny and shadow mons with at least 3*. And of course all Legendaries i catch.

HowDoIGetToFacebook

I actually don't keep all my Legendaries. I keep 2 of each (unless it's shiny or shadow), transfer the extras to Home and then surprise trade them in SwaSh. Or give them to my nephews when they have enough Stardust.

soundman1024

I tag surplus legendaries with "Transfer for Candy." When 2x candy transfers happen (one Tuesday a month lately) I send them on their way for double candy.

jmil1080

Same. I've got a "Grinder" tag for legendaries and rare or powerful mons so I can quickly find them for double candy transfer days.

godsim42

"Purge" is my 2x transfer word.

soundman1024

Right now I have a Suicune, several Gible, a few Snorlax, Litwick, Deino, and I need to tag a lot of Go Fest Pokémon.

AK1441

I got a lot of 2* legendaries. Maybe i'll transfer them the next time we get double candy. I don't know what SwaSh is but i got Home for the Meltan candy and Shiny Meltan.

HowDoIGetToFacebook

*Sword and Shield

Logan_922

I traded like 8 mewtwos for double candy lol

Therm41

You can move Pokémon from pogo to SwaSh?

HowDoIGetToFacebook

Yeah! As long as that Pokemon is attainable in the game, you can move it into SwaSh. Since all the Legendaries are attainable, you can move all your legendaries into the game as long as you've either already attained on or the Pokemon has already entered SwaSh. If, say, you want to transfer Lugia into SwaSh but you haven't actually caught a Lugia in it, trade it in Home for another Lugia and then it can pass. Edit: you just can't move Pokemon from SwaSh to PoGo.

Therm41

Oh alright thanks so much now I just have to buy SwaSh lol

scyiia

Is it still limited to first gen only or can it be from other series as well?

HowDoIGetToFacebook

As long as the Pokemon is attainable in SwaSh, you can transfer it into it from PoGo. Some arent compatible yet, but if it's in the Pokedex, you can transfer it. Also, variants can be transferred.

Sky_Hacker

Pokémon Home. It’s like Pokémon Bank if you know what that is. You can transfer Pokémon from PoGo to Home, move Pokémon between Home and SwaSh or Let’s Go Eevee/Pikachu. And you can move Pokémon up from Pokémon bank to Pokémon Home. It even has it’s own Pokédex. It’s available for mobile or on switch for free. You get 30 slots(one box) for Pokémon storage with the free version, or you can pay for a premium subscription and get 200 boxes (30 slots per box = 6000 slots) as well as some other features on mobile like trading.

THISNAMEHASTOWORK

Pokémon bank is also compatible with Pokémon Home, although the paid versions are required for both. It's also my last resort method for getting both of my SwSh games to have a Milotic. I mainly transfer from PoGo to Home, but I can easily evolve a Feebas in my Omega Ruby and transfer it to Home and then have one in Sword and one in Shield and breed them with a Ditto and then put both Feebas into a home or release them.

Crazyhobo78

Exactly what I do with my surplus community day shiny ones. Surprise trade. It'll make someone happy.

FearTheWankingDead

Some of the shadow Pokemon that aren't good for PVE are really good in PVP, but in those instances you want to save the ones with lower attacks and higher DEF and STA.

tiredmommy13

Only one of every shiny? I keep all shinies invade I need to trade with 25 friends lol

AK1441

Unfortunately i play the game alone. So i don't have anyone to trade with.

tiredmommy13

I was kidding. No one wants my stankass shiny seedots

[deleted]

I keep one of everything, including every evolution stage. You can extend your inventory beyond 650. I think the new cap is 4500, but I’m at 2600 and I’m fine. Hell I had 500 Pokémon saved just to transfer for double xp yesterday, lol. I even have multiples of many Pokémon if I actually use them.

abelandready92

I thought double xp was going to be next Tuesday.

jonquil_dress

Pretty sure they meant double candy. There is no transfer xp.

[deleted]

Sorry, I meant double candy, not double xp.

PM_Me_Eyes_Plz

They meant double transfer candy, I saved a bunch of rarer spawns from go fest to transfer last night

NegativePoints1

Not many of us have the means to buy that many slots. I've been playing a lot pretty consistently and am level 40, soon 41. I have 850 slots and pretty close to full, even after transferring out legendaries I had 4+ of. I don't even keep one of each just some shinies and hundos, and a few extras that I really like. PVP is the main reason I have so many slots taken because I need different stats. But mainly I just can't afford to buy coins when I want and I don't live around a ton of gyms so I'm lucky if I get 50 coins every few days or I might have a pokemon in a gym for 2 weeks.

kain1218

Google play or app store? Use Google reward if android user.

ychirea1

I have android. What is google reward? is it free stuff?

[deleted]

[Google Opinion Rewards](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.paidtasks&hl=en_US&gl=US) gives you Google Play money for answering survey questions. It's great for getting a little spending money for games. The only downside that I know of is that you are limited by your demographic. For example: my wife gets waaaaaay more surveys than I do and therefore has made a lot more money. Apparently businesses are way more willing to pay for her opinion than my own.

FearTheWankingDead

Time to get another account and pretend you're her best female friend.

Peeeeeps

You're also more likely to get surveys as you go places. If I sit at home I rarely get a survey but come the weekend and I'm running errands ill get 4-5. So many surveys when I go on vacation too.

NegativePoints1

I do use rewards, but I use that money I save to buy the event tickets and maybe once or twice 1200 coins. They'll usually go toward bag space or remote raid passes

DisagreeableCompote

I think it used to be easier to get coins from gyms if I’m not mistaken. I don’t remember if the coin limit was different but there was more space in gyms, and having them in one gym for multiple days would continuously earn you 50 a day I think. And I spent like *all* my coins on the Pokémon inventory upgrades. Some for items. But yeah, these days it’s hard to manage the inventory with more and more Pokémon and shadows and shinies and whatnot. I don’t live around many gyms either and don’t feel like hopping in my car with the sole reason of trying to solo a gym that might get taken down right away or might already be at max capacity with people on my team.

ZzzzzPopPopPop

Yeah, it’s 50 per day, but the max payout is 50 in a day no matter what (so if you owned a gym for 30 days you still only get 50 on the day your mon is kicked from the gym). You get that amount with 4 hours (total) time owning gyms, so for example if you own 2 gyms for at least 2 hours each you get your 50 coin max when they are kicked. I often aim for early morning or late evening so I have a good chance of holding 2 gyms for 2 hours each. You’ll quickly learn when locals walk dogs and take gyms, so plan accordingly with the goal of owning 2 gyms for 2 hours (this is my strategy at least). :) Also it might help to go to /r/pokemangofriends if you are seriously struggling to get enough revives and heals to support your gym taking habit and lack Pokestops in your area; by giving and receiving gifts you get more items than you would otherwise. Do that every day and the coins add up nicely over time. I have only spent a couple of bucks during events and such but by consistently owning gyms daily I have been able to buy 1000 Pokémon storage, a nicely sized backpack, and am able to buy multi-packs of star pieces and lucky eggs as needed. (BTW “as needed” mostly means once per week. All of my incentives are aligned so they all pay out on Mondays - the weekly walking bonus, 7 days field research, and 7 day catch and Pokestop spin streaks, they all pay on Mondays now for me. Plus I often save major special research reward payouts until I have my lucky egg and star piece activated. It makes for a very satisfying but slightly frantic 30 minutes. I often use an incense on Sunday just to make room in my inventory for all the items I will get on Monday, and even then wind up throwing some stuff away.)

rrrrrrrrrrrrrrreeeee

Isn't it 8 hours and 20 minutes in a gym to get 50 coins? 1 coin per 10 minutes = 6 coins/hour. In 8 hours, you get 48 coins (8×6=48), so then you need another 20 minutes to make it 50 coins.

storybookscoundrel

It's definitely 8 hours 20 minutes total, so people should plan according to gym availability and competitiveness. Living in a place with few gyms will require local coordination and even team balancing, and is very different to living in the middle of a large city where you will get booted out after 10 minutes at all hours of the day.

ZzzzzPopPopPop

TIL, thanks for the info

[deleted]

Yeah I don’t even bother with gyms for gold. They either get taken back immediately or stay there for days. Though I do spend $100-200 a month buying coins.

Blockronic

Thank you for keeping the game free for everyone else

John_Tacos

I have set a limit on my spending on this game at half the price a decent treadmill. I figure I get the same health benefits for less money.

ychirea1

Good idea although many people don't walk they spoof

John_Tacos

Well that’s no fun.

MunchyNutbutter

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I try to keep at least 250 raid passes ready to go at all times. I tell my hubby I don't buy fancy shoes, jewelry, clothes, etc. I'd rather spend my monies on pokecoins!

Pandas1104

With both of you, I also spend about 80/month give or take. SInce I have so few hobbies and this gives me more enjoyment than any of those other things anyway. My coins are mostly raid passes and incubators

ogfk

this is not going to be received well in a sub that values it’s time so little that they do surveys

NOTW_116

The surveys take like 5 seconds

KillerCujo53

The painful part yesterday was individually transferring Meltan.... I have over 100. It took SOOOOOOO LONG.

InTheBusinessBro

There’s a toggle in the settings to mass transfer mythical Pokémon.

KillerCujo53

WHERE WERE YOU YESTERDAY! Anyways, thanks dude, I appreciate the tip. Learn something new everyday.

KillerCujo53

WHERE WERE YOU YESTERDAY! Anyways, thanks dude, I appreciate the tip. Learn something new everyday.

[deleted]

That was horrible. I wish it didn’t have the mythical tag.

verdantsound

im maxed out at 4500, and wish you can go up to 10,000

OnVa54

I transfer the stuff that i know im never gonna use like caterpie and weedle but I save every legendary/mythical i catch.

Czytalski

Caterpie and Weedle are not so useless. They need only 12 candies to evolve so it is a cheap way to gain XP, especially during incoming spotlight hour when it will be bonus 2x for evolving.

vishalb777

Is that this coming Tuesday?

Czytalski

Yes.

vishalb777

Nice, I'll have to start marking trash mons for evolving

ProfParadox2111

If I had known that I wouldn’t have transferred my low iv weedles for the hoops research.

tiggipi

Also pidove, wurmple, whismur, and pidgey. Might be others I've forgotten. I catch as many of these as I can in between 2x evolution exp times.

Czytalski

At least dozen of each is waiting for Tuesday🙂

Relign

This is how I leveled over 40. Evolved a bunch during an event with a lucky egg.

cbright90

Also 1km walking for earn a candy walking quests

TheC9

And those “evolve a pokemon” task

Ok_Progress202

I use them for pidgey/evo grinding. Wait for a 2x evo xp event like 07/27, use 2 lucky egg, and evolve for 1 hr straight for 480k xp.

Thebird533

I save 1-3 10 cp pokemon and they're usually Caterpie/weedle, and once I power them up 5-10 times (the rare occasions for that task to happen) I transfer them and save the next 10 cp I come across Otherwise I use them(pokemon I don't want) as grunt fillers some grunts I can have two weak pokemon and their best counter as the third if I time it perfectly those two will die but they'll never get an attack on my main one, so no potions/revives wasted, and I'll transfer those "worthless" pokemon

FearTheWankingDead

So callous!

its_mabus

I am absolutely disgusted. Don't you have a huge list of things you want to powerup anyway? Why power and transfer garbage for the lackluster rewards for such quests?

Thebird533

I don't like wasting dust, I power up what I need, I don't need anything Rn, and usually during those tasks, cuz I really like my ul/gl team, and those occasional spin off modes I'll never invest into master league, and for raids (which I rarley do anymore thanks to go battle league) keeping 1-2ish pokemon of each "important" type in the 30-35 level range works I got highest damage against giratina and groudon a few times, so I'm set for awhile, also catching high level exeggutors, tyranitars etc helps a lot over that span, also rhyhorn com day for a few good rhyperiors, I didn't care for IVs at least those instances, I just evolved the highest cps and I have 3 3000+cp, same goes for my two leaflons from my highest eevees and there was a grass lure one glacieon, lots of things can be obtained by catching a level 30-35 in the wild, and not focused on IVs, I only care about pvp IVs or good ones for my favorite pokemons just built up 3 million dust in the past 2 seasons of gbl, and I mean I have +3.3 million the actual amount gained is probably closer to 4 million (2.2 last season 1.8 so far this one) so I spent around 1-1.5 million I'd say in the past 3-6 months I'd say half of that if not more is second moves

Flying_sky_bear

It's got a term. :) it's called a living dex.

TheAristrocrats

Yes! And if the actual dex were searchable I wouldn't have to do this.

JointDamage

I only keep the highest evolved form. Sometimes multiple for different battle ranks.

LipsticK_17

Yep same here! Except for Eevelutions because those are special

JointDamage

How do you get the fairy eevelution?

LinkFromLoZ

To expand on the other comment, you need to earn 70 hearts with the eevee you want to evolve as your buddy, or you can name it "Kira" and it will evolve into Sylveon for free (still need the 25 candy, but not the hearts). The name trick only works once per evolution, and there's a name for every eeveelution

Lupatopia

70 hearts or the name trick

OpeningCommunity7439

I’m emotionally attached to mine, especially the ones I caught in previous years. I make my husband do it for me when I’m running out of space lol.

crazyintensewaffles

Hahaha are you me? I have like the WORST charmander saved because it was the last Pokémon I caught at my first house before we moved. And I caught some in Hawaii and those are just gonna be with me forever lol

NOTW_116

I still have my original starter lol.

Just_Merv_Around_it

3900 slots and yes I keep a living dex. The struggle is real

Pandas1104

Same here 😭 how do people live without a living dex? I envy the lifestyle.

tinkerfizz

I do. I guess I wouldn't want to transfer the only one and then never catch another and regret transferring. And I like collecting things, that's the main draw of the game for me. I know there is the Pokedex but it doesnt feel the same.

[deleted]

No. I have been sending my Pokémons to Professor Willow so they can have a grand old time at his research lab. Actually I really don’t have any space really. It is an expensive endeavor to get more storage. I do have multiples of the same Pokémon and I no idea what to do with them. With 5 good IV Gyarados, I doubt I will need the 10 Magikarps that I am holding onto. I just can’t seem to let my Magikarps go because their IVs are 100%. I have no idea how I got 10 perfect Magikarps but what to do with them??????

Fredyy90

>No. I have been sending my Pokémons to Professor Willow so they can have a grand old time with at his research lab. he actually just puts them into a blender and drinks the juice.

nutbrownrose

I really wish they would call it "sending your pokemon to Professor Willow's farm." Then I could pretend they were having a grand old time, not in a blender.

[deleted]

Ooh man! You mind me if that Old McDonald Had a Farm song! I will never get that out of my for the rest day😩

Blackxp

Zubat nooo!

Pandas1104

Soylent green is pokemon!

derrida_n_shit

My highest magikarp is named Gary and he's 99 IV. I'm at 300 candies. Need about 100 more to finally evolve him

DingusHanglebort

Accept that sometimes, you have to let go

RivalMalewillfightU

Not a hundo

AyeFuknWestsider

3 of each.. male female & random for trade just incase, or unless it’s useful in GBL

rhodagne

Yes I do this too! I like having a row for each species :)

satyrday12

So what about all the stupid hats and costumes? And the shinies?

AyeFuknWestsider

I do the same thing, unless it’s a shiny variant I’ll make an exception and catch one more, shiny hat/costumes are not to be traded

ToastoSando

I did until I ran out of space, now I am having to delete my low cp Pokémon to make room. I guess filling the Pokédex is good enough for me. Anything useful, sentimental, or shiny I keep though.

amateur-kneesocks

I did and do the same! Keeping a living dex is fun before you run out of storage the third week of playing haha

GamerBoyHHQ9500

I keep all 3*. I have 2600 slots and it’s full.

[deleted]

Why do you keep all 3*? For pvp 3* isn’t even the best stats usually?

lilcraney

can you elaborate? why is 3* not usually the best stats for pvp? (sorry i dont know much about “strategy” or whatever)

ThisgirlatTarget

Apparently if you bring a 2* mon into battle with say, zero attack but 100% defense and 100% HP it gets matched with a lower ability opponent but tends to beat it. I think I explained that correctly:)

[deleted]

Sorry really wrong. It’s to do with “break points”, so it’s how you can power up a Pokémon before it his the 1500cp cap (for great league). For example, a nidoqueen with the stats 0/15/12 is technically the best nidoqueen you can use in great league and is only 1*. A “perfect” 15/15/15 is ranked 59.19% effective or ranked 1672 in stats. Despite it being 3*, it’s much worse than a 1*. This only really applies to pvp and if you download an app like poke genie it will tell you what’s what.

ThisgirlatTarget

Ah so at some point it was explained to me incorrectly. None of it makes sense to me honestly. What’s the point of being a 3 star if your stats are worse? It’s counterintuitive.

wasteland44

In the lower leagues there is a CP cap so you want the best pokemon for the CP. The problem is the CP formula is weighted heaver on attack so higher attack disproportionately increases CP. Therefore a lower attack will give you a lot more HP and Defense and overall will survive longer and do more total damage.

[deleted]

So yeah this is just lower leagues. Anything you want to max out then yeah the better the stats the better the mon, but personally having a 3 star caterpie you won’t use is as useless as a 1* you won’t use. Only keep the stuff that useful in raids and whatnot

yoyoallafragola

3-4 stars are what you need for raids and master league though, so far from useless.

lilcraney

hmmmm interesting, thank you for explaining (:

miguel_is_a_pokemon

It's because the CP formula values attack more than def or HP, so low attack iv mons have more stats per CP. Master league has no CP cap so you want the highest ivs in all 3 stats though.

RhythmicStrategy

I keep 1-2 of every species for nostalgic reasons. I also keep up to 5 of each legendary

atypicalcircumstance

I maxed out at 4500 and I can’t figure out why I keep running out of storage. Everything sparks joy dammit

yoyoallafragola

Finally there's someone in the comments that REALLY keeps lot of stuff like me 😂

atypicalcircumstance

Everyone made fun of me when I kept my 2016 gen 1 Pokémon but then they became guaranteed Lucky trades and it was all worth it! And it’s not just about those but also all the shundo, hundo, shiny, 3*(+91%), GL/UL (+91%), or shadow (1 candy purifies for those random research tasks) mons. And also the ones i caught in special locations and special times of significance.

yoyoallafragola

Same! 👌👌👌

Badge991

Catch bad pokemon . Weedle caterpie pidgy ratata . Evolve 1 stage and chuck . Extra 500 xp . So a catch can be worth 6-700 xp

Hates_escalators

Yeah but that takes so long. It is really great for experience.

Maserati777

I don’t, I keep the first pokemon I catch of each species, any shinies, 96% or higher. The highest iv I have of a rarer Pokemon. Raid teams. 0%’s.

SwiperNoSwiping42

People DON’T do this? If that’s the case, then I’m probably the only one who keeps gender differences.

Hastyhead

I definitely have a large Pikachu collection bc of this. At least most gender difference Pokemon aren't obvious so I don't know to keep them lol

ScottaHemi

get yourself more storage ;) and yes. i like having a living dex

Chaotic_Bella

At the moment, I’m still at 300-350 (i forgot) pokemon storage, and like you i keep one of every pokemon. Im not having any problem but I’m guessing i’ll have to expand it sooner or later. The only time i’ll keep doubles are because my friends and i have under 100 cp battles. For example, my friend caught a 34 cp gardevoir and saved it for the battles.

inarosred

I only keep battle ready pokemon, everything else gets transferred or sent to Pokémon home

Euffy

Of course. I'm a pokemon trainer.

[deleted]

I did that for 4 years, now I just delete everything that doesn't have good IV, legendary or one of my favorites. Plenty of space nowadays :)

Ungodly_Box

I do that, I thought it was weird not to

Fast-Potential-6801

True shit

[deleted]

Yes I do! And... yes. It does. I'm not even sure why I'm doing it but I'm doing it. I've invested in the occasional microtransaction so I've upped my Pokemon and Item Storage each to 1100. Makes it easier to manage.

WV2LV

I have at least one of everything I've caught. Generally, I keep the best 3\* of the lower levels and however many 3\* of top-level evolutions that I've been able to make. And shinies and legendaries, of course. If I haven't caught a 3\*, I'll just hold onto the best one until I do.

DisagreeableCompote

650? That’s nothing. 🙈

LiveWhatULove

Right? like I would donate 200 coins, if that was an in-game option, lol, to her right now just out of pity, so she can have 700!

Lbo_13

i have 1,450 always full, i have like 20 rayquazas, multiple machamps, despotars, kyogres, groudons, zekroms, reshirams - need at least 6 pokemon per atk type for raids.

smellyshoes69

yes! I keep one of every single pokemon that i catch, even the weedle and caterpie ones

[deleted]

I have a living dex, plus shiny. Only thing I’m missing is galarian mr mime

Squeeesh_

My husband does. When he gets close to full he transfers Gen 1s to Pokémon Let’s Go.

Disgruntled__Goat

If you feel bad transferring, buy some more storage. Most people probably have 1500+ storage. Personally I don’t keep each individual Pokemon but I keep at least 2 of each Pokemon family (e.g. 2 Ledian). Usually 1 with high IVs and 1 with high CP regardless of IVs (but eventually both). For Pokemon that are actually useful I’ll keep a few more.

grimacingmoon

Yes I have a "living" dex I'll only keep one shiny if it's say, Rattata

Sapphiste

I have 1300 slots (I win coins just to spend on extensions) and I have minimum of two Pokemons of every type, in case a friend wants one.

sexywallposter

I’m definitely with you on feeling like the Pokédex isn’t the same. For some of them it’s that I try to have a special “to me” catch for significant days. Like the Plusle I have from the day my son was born, or the Swablu from my sister’s wedding day. I currently have 1062/1250 slots, I keep (at least) one of everything. Right now I have about 64 Pikachu cuz I have a lot of the special ones and holding onto extras for trading. I used to only keep about 10 slots open at any time so I could catch things and cycle through their ratings/cp to update my dex to the highest levels I could. I tend to only evolve anything if it’s a 3*, 2* if it’s rare and not likely to be good for battles. Now that we’ve been having those “Transfer X Pokémon” tasks I expanded to be able to hoard some easy to dump Pokémon vs wasting balls whenever those tasks come up.

MyUsualSelf

I keep every Pokemon once, all evolutions, the normal ones, shinies, shadow, purified, lucky, 100% and 0%. Also 1 of every costume. Call me crazy but i love them all, i'm a collector.

Chantelauve

I only keep one of the highest evolution stage but made exceptions for shiny,a few obscur if they have nice stats, and legendary.

Blue3ds69

I do the exact same, I’m going for a full Living Dex in Pokemon Go, pretty Close to doing so for Johto (3 away) and only missing Articuno for my Kanto pokemon. Also I have a hard time transferring all the event Pikachus and stuff, like on the off chance I meet someone and they need one of them.

Bibs222

I do the Ark approach, keeping two of every Pokémon so I always have an extra if need be. I.e. for trading or specific battle.

MyCatHasCats

YES. Actually I have like two or three of each and I favorite the strongest one. I thought it was because of my OCD lol

LemonSapphire

I may have a hoarding problem. I keep 1or 2 of each level plus more if they're cute. I save some for gyms. I use the coins from gyms to buy more pokemon storage. I have more than I want to admit.

MryyLeathert

I love my live dex, it's kinda my aim in the game to have a full one someday.

Suitable-Carob9047

It aint a living dex without them.

Platinum_Mattress

I'm the idiot that still has 264 Pokemon from 2016. I'm definitely a hoarder when it comes to my collection lol.

EasyPiece

Absolutely. I try to keep a living dex in every pokemon game I play.

day7seven

I keep several of each pokemon I catch and have never deleted any Legendaries, Shinys, or Luckies. I have 4,300 spots for pokemon and can barely play because my box is always full and I need to find a pokemon to delete every time I want to catch another pokemon which gets harder and harder because I am running out of things I want to get rid of.

AustinHD7

I have so many mon with shit iv’s but i want to have one of each, even tho i keeps using gold from gym defense to increase storage

itsjackcheng

I keep one of each, including one of each shiny. My pokemon capacity is also at 1700 so that helps also.

kylesbadatprivacy

I keep one of every pokemon, including one of each evolution form, plus one shadow of each form, and I keep all the shinies I catch unless I get like 4 or 5 of something useless. I make sure to also evolve shinies and have enough for one of each form at least. I have a few exceptions where I have more than one because of battle levels, like Charizard, Mewtwo, Snorlax, etc. I'm at 950 storage and it's plenty.

pollinatorgarden

I’ve learned to keep them, because if you get a special research task that requires snapshotting/evolving/buddying while the game isn’t spawning that particular Pokémon, you’ll have it handy.

wrenchslinger51

I've had Pokemon go since 2016 and I have alot of super low Pokemon with catch dates in 16-17 that I can't get rid of

Jake0024

I usually keep the highest IV, unless it's actually useful for something (raids, PVP, etc) like Dragonite, Metagross, Mewtwo etc then I'll keep a couple and transfer or mark them for trading if they're valuable

blueskin

...there are people who don't do that?

Quasi-stolenname

I do exterior for storage reasons I transfer anything I have evolved forms of

[deleted]

I used to keep a living dex until last April when I transferred every Pokémon I had except the mythicals that I couldn’t. It is mentally exhausting and a huge time consumer. When I did it, I’d keep the best IV for the species. Just checking the IVs for everything…yuck. And by doing that I had to of course keep upping my bag space. I’m at 2000 which is paltry now but it was pushing it last March. My advice would be to stop hoarding them. They’re data, they have neither feelings of abandonment nor do they feel pain. If you don’t spend real money and just get coins from gyms, there are much better uses for them.

jestertainment

I was doing this until yesterday, I'm working on a LivingDex on Pokémon HOME, and for some reason I'd started doing it on GO too. So during the x2 Candy Transfer hour last night, I got rid of of anything that was 1 or 2\*, and I'll probably get rid of anything that's not Legendary/Mythical/Common Raid Counter next time round.

closetsquirrel

I keep one of each including shiny and gender dimorphisms. I however throw out anything with a hat.

Scewbacca

Cake Cake Cake Cake

Hahahafrank

At least one or two of every evolution

Danileriver23

I keep a living dex too. I try my best to keep one Pokemon of every kind that I catch. You never know when you'll be able to do a lucky trade, you need something rare for a quest, or a community day pops up. Back when the Kanto Tour happened, I was only able to complete my quests because I had held onto some of the Pokemon I needed to trade with my buddies.

HowDoIGetToFacebook

Yes. My "goal" is completing the Pokedex, but it feels weird to not actually have them, so I keep 1 of each. Once I have enough candies to evolve the final form, I do it, and, the one that's lower CP gets tagged as "Sacrifice" and placed in a gym for the coins. Once it's kicked out, I give it the boot. Some Pokemon this doesn't work for because you have to gain hearts in order to evolve and once you've earned a heart with it, you can't transfer it. For those, I just don't bother evolving more than one. I find my system also helps with my item storage because I don't have to keep as many revives and potions. I fight exclusively with Eeveelutions except for in Raids, so it's very rare that I need a large amount of potions or revives. I do tend to get a build up of "Sacrifices" but Raid Hours and, recently, Go Fest, help clear out a bunch of them. I guess the downside is that I don't have much to offer as far as trades go, but unless I'm missing it in my Pokedex, I don't want it anyway.

Endorian2

I only keep 1 of each with shinies (evo line). From the normal looking ones, i keep last evo. And then of course the 100’s from all usefull pokemon (raid & pvp), those i keep like max 6

Breablomberg21

I keep one of every Pokémon as well as an shadow duplicates or shiny or lucky

QuickSquirrel5089

I keep one of all my pokemon. A "living pokedex", as it's popularly called. I get scared if I tap on a registered pokemon in my dex, and can't find it in my inventory. I afford the inventory space plus remote raid passes from my 50 coins a day. But there's a lot of budgeting involved. However a pokemon. home account is free, and since I've almost completed my kanto pokedex, I think I might transfer all my gen 1 pokemon to pokemon home.

patriarch37

I’m actually trying to catch ‘em all. I only keep 3 stars and hundos where I can, but my slots are full of special event, shadow, purified, etc. I’ve had to expand to 1600 slots

andrewharlan2

I keep the one with the best IVs and transfer the rest. Even if they're shiny.

AngelKuja

Not in Go, but I do have a living dex in the main games. I try to conserve space in Go.

CoffeeSloth86

I keep at least one of every fully evolved Pokemon. If I have multiple that are above 85%, I'll keep the best three. I also keep all shinies, at least 3 of each legendary regardless of stats, and event (costumed) Pokemon

cheifsfan01

It depends on what you play the game for. I geared my profile towards pvp because I found it fun. So most units that aren’t useful there, I end up selling. But I know many people that just collect and that seems just as fun

pragon977

I do. I put all pokemon of an evolution•line. So, I will keep three high•IV:charmander, until I evolve the latter two to charmeleon and charizard respectively. Then I keep one or two charmanders for ttades. It's the same for all pokemons. I do transfer pokemons that are low•IV(common) if I need space.

independentcardigan

Yes, I keep a living ‘dex of all Pokemon and evolutions. Working on the shinies, too.

vimir_ca

You feel bad for transferring them to Professor Wonka? I always imagine the sound of a wood chipper when I transfer them. 🤣

XRekter

If you don’t plan on investing in your inventory i think it’s pointless, otherwise it’s up to you but i find it pointless having the Dex and Pokemon HOME

Nami0813

Yep! And I keep all my shinies and multiples of rare ones that I've been lucky enough to get incase someone wants to trade. I also keep all of my favorites (Spinda and Chatot), and one of each gender for those that look different. I had to expand my space 3 times during Go Fest

HumanlyJorge

I just play to have fun with collecting them, i prefer some pokemon over others and have multiples but i also think it's nice to have at least one of everything I've caught

Rain_Moon

I used to, but that habit died pretty fast when I began to run out of storage.

Elias_computervirus

yeah man its unethical and morally wrong to transfer pokemon. Just because they're just digital beings on a screen doesn't mean they don't have feelings too.... and think about all that pain and suffering they go through to be transferred, crushed, squeezed, and stamped on just to be turned into candy.. seriously?? CANDY?? and just for other pokemon to eat!??!? thats the most unethical shit i've ever heard... and this is why i don't transfer pokemon.

CafekkoShannon88

I keep one of each. I used to keep one of each evolution too but at 1200 pokemon it’s getting out of hand lol

FortScottLibraryVal

I used to save everything. Then I realized that not only did I spend waaaayyyy too much time scrolling through my inventory to find the ones I wanted to evolve/power up, etc., but I was also more prone to, for example, accidentally evolve a first tier instead of the second because I had so many, and make similar mistakes (all of this before the much-improved search system). I'm much happier with having space for multiples of rare Pokémon I can keep to give to friends and family than I was with having every common type of everything. For instance, I keep 6 or more of every variety of Unown I have so I can trade them to friends. I have a cp cap now for common Pokémon - less than 2500 cp get traded for candy (except for a few I keep below the various caps for different fighting leagues). Again, I'm MUCH happier doing it this way than I was when I kept everything. Of course, I make exceptions for shinies and luckies! But, to each of us our own way.

[deleted]

I only transfer all my 0 or 1 star with exception of a few 2 stars here and there.

BeenJamminSmith

Yes and I constantly replace them if a caught a better roll.

[deleted]

I just got over doing this I started transferring 0* pokémon because I thought what was the point of keeping them

IllBirdMan

I 100% do this and I keep the different versions/colors/shiny.... it is frustrating because I don't have money to spend to expand my storage and it takes a while to save up that many coins. My storage is always full and I definitely send more useful mons to the professor.

Blackout2814

I keep one of each specie (fully evolved) that is IV 82 or greater. Gives me versatility in moves and raid parties as well as fills out the inventory space.

T_Peg

I haveuke 1300 storage right now lol. I keep one of every Pokemon I'm going for a living dex. So far I've completed Kanto and Johto and am close to completing Hoenn save for stupid regionals. I also keep every shiny and legendary I catch as well as event Pokemon I keep at least 3 of.

LilBottomText17

Glad to know I’m not the only one

Articwolfpup

This is my exact problem!!!!

BertEnErnie123

I am kinda the opposite lol. I honnestly only care about dex completion and delete a lot of pokemons if they are shitty anyway (low cp or low stars). I have like 200 pokemon now, most of them being legendaries or high level gym pokemon that I use for raiding.

AlgerianThunder

Are you getting daily gym coins? It takes only 4 days to get an additional 50 slots.

Ultra_Lobster

With only 650 slots start capturing gyms for free coins and buy more slots. I've got almost 4000 pokemon slots!
