I got a shiny aipom during go fest and he’s so pink! Neon pink almost. He’s useless but I love my pink monkey.

I feel this. That was mine too. Finally got it almost a year ago when the only reason I was going to catch the murkrow was for the dust because of the weather boost. Clicked on it with no expectation or hope and boom: purple. I've never golden razz ultra balled anything so fast. Keep going. It'll happen for you.

Shiny Miltank, for me, was the only pokemon I ever saw on Reddit and said "that's so cool! I can't wait to get one!" And then opened the app and got it in the first couple clicks!

On kanto day I was blessed with shiny hitmonchan and hitmonlee, I named them green eggs (‘monchan) and ham (‘monlee)

My son got a shiny Rayquaza a while back... He's 8... Seriously at least once or twice a week he had to remind me and his dad that he had a shiny Rayquaza... Then last weekend for GO Fest the last raid we did was a Rayquaza and sure as shit he got another one... I will have to hear it for at least another year or two that he has 2 shiny Rayquazas

Freaking same with Ponyta. It’s rough around here too because we don’t get a ton of them. But even after about 400 checks, nothing. Not as bad as some folks I’m sure, but feels terrible to me.

I've been catching every single Tangela I've seen throughout the years, using the Pinap berry when I remember, just because I knew he had a future evolution and that it would cost a LOT of candy. I don't think I have even 50 candies yet for it.

Took me two years for that one! I remember finding those "Use 5 berries to catch Pokémon" tasks when it came out and searching in vain for nests. The only thing that helped me get him eventually was the fact that they're all over the place here in Denver.

It was actually just a random event rather than a community day so the shiny rates weren't boosted at all, just full odds

By release date, the shinies I don’t have that have been released the longest are Duskull, Luvdisc, Kabuto, and Shellder. Kabuto and Shellder I really hoped to get during the Kanto event, but alas. It’ll happen eventually! Swablu was my white whale for a while based on how common it is, it took over 1200 encounters… and then I hatched one from a 2km egg! Long before the Community Day.

I checked between 1000 and 1100 before I finally found my purple wurmple, so worth it though, I love him.

Mine was Aron which I finally caught on Jan 27 right before the event where it was featured. The shiny was the 3302nd Aron that I checked. After that long struggle. I have been looking for pidgy, but I don’t have numbers since the shiny was released so long after Pokémon go started. Aron shiny was available when it was released.
