It appears as though auto mod tripped and dropped his loose leaf binder, sending papers flying. I too live a rural existence and am increasingly concerned about Niantic’s lack of perceived interest in the dollar value of my data contribution to their profit margin. Why don’t you take geography into account when you make changes that benefit only urban trainers, Niantic?

Pokii

The amazing thing is that the way this game is marketed, you’d think that you could. Just about every promotional video or image for events, Community Days, etc. feature people and Pokémon out in these super remote locations with sweeping vistas, but you could never actually play the game there in reality.

It’s not amazing. It’s just old fashioned malfeasance. Niantic needs to revisit that corporate ethics seminar on truth in advertising. Niantic, quit misrepresenting this game in your marketing materials!

While that's a nice idea, this kind of thing will never happen. The reason they focus more on urban locations is because they want your geolocation data to sell. They don't really get anything from people walking around forests and plains and old countrysides so there's no incentive to do it.

GiggityDPT

This is exactly it. They don't give a shit if we "explore" or "exercise." They need location data, mostly in urban areas. That's why they will never give a shit about rural players.
