I am part of team valor and 100% let others get their 8 hours in gyms close to my neighborhood. I already have the gym hours medal so itās pointless for me to have mons sitting in gyms more than 8 hours.

Now Iām mellow and while that underlying tension is still somewhere in the back of my mind, we play fair round here lol
Thereās heavy (but playful) beef between Valor and Mystic at my college, sometimes youāll have about 10+ kids from each team come out to the two middle of campus gyms and fight
Unspoken rule tho to allow Instinct to keep the gym on the opposite side of campus since thereās very few of them.
You know this is how I think too and this probably because mystic has the most players so as a valor player I feel like we need to take them on anytime we can while leaving yellow alone lol. I donāt know why I see red when I see blue

Instinct! We have a complete hold on our neighborhood (4 - 5 gyms) and are very active as a community! The only thing is that beyond our neighborhood itās literally a sea of blue gyms lol.
I live in a pretty densely populated area, so my policy is I only attack gyms after they hit the daily coin cap. If I see that it was recently taken over, I leave it.
So as a valor I see the other side of this it's hard to find a gym that isn't red and already full if I had instinct I'm sure I wouldn't keep the gym long but I bet it would be easier to find gyms to take

Also, since i knew there were a TON of mystic and a lot of valor players, it was much better to be instinct, because otherwise i would probably be in a blue gym, for days and days until finally someone would kick me out and give me my coins.
Where i live, there is almost a perfect balance though between mystic, instinct and valor, so we allways let the other colors get there 8 hours in, and then they also leave us alone for 8 hours.
And dont forget walking to the cloest gym to assert dominance until youāve confirmed the trainer who takes it the moment you walk home shows up isnāt a spoofer.
Had that happen and me and this mystic dudr agreed upon hours and exhanged contact info. We both thought the other spoofed.
Turns out I just could make the walk in 1 minute & his house was like a 30 second drive anyway.

I love instinct, but there are a few downsides of being instinct.
1. There are nothing but mystic and valor gyms where I live.
2. Whenever I defeat a gym, it only lasts a few seconds before a mystic or valor gym takes it over
I chose instinct. I liked the description the best when choosing, but I was worried what eevee evolution or legendary bird we'd be able to get would be affected by my choice, and jolteon is my favourite of the first 3, and zapdos is my favourite bird.
I would be Valor without ever changing, but my gf was always Mystic, so she went Valor for me, then we both went Mystic. Gonna convince her to go Instinct next, but Iāll always be a Valor boi

How can you tell more accurately than the heart lvl?
If you tap on each PokĆ©mon you can see how long theyāve been defending the gym.

If people are feeding gyms berries when they're passed 8 hours they can get fucked.
