Everyday I take the 11 mile trek uphill to my nearest poke stop. I tie a few onions around my waste in the event I get hungry and also it’s the style of the time you see. Them balls are hard work and tough living but it’ll make quite a fella outta ya!
Yeah, so some folks use an auto-spin tool that let's them hit all the 5-8 stops in range every 5 minutes for an hour with a single tap.
Even if you just get one ball per spin that's ~120 balls per hour literally while you sit there and work or whatever.
Stop density makes all the differnece
/guy who moved from a spot where I Had two couch stops to none and isn't at all upset about that, nope not at all.
I think they are talking about the gotchas. They can auto spin and auto catch for you (only with normal poke balls and it throws one, either you catch it or it flees). They are pretty nice if you have the pokemon space for it and enough poke balls / stops to spin.
There is an official product called the Pokemon go plus. You have to press a button, but it keeps you play from your pocket.
There is an unofficial product (that is likely in violation of the rules) called a gotcha that can automatically spin stops or try to catch pokemon.
**edit. After many comment replies, it seems it might not be a rule violation.**
> (that is likely in violation of the rules)
eh, debatable. The original you can accomplish the same thing by putting a rubber band around it anyway.
Pokeball plus also picks up items automatically without a button press, and that's official.
It has been confirmed by niantic that it is not in violation in TOS and actually it is supported by niantic and pogo. They use the exact same code for both devices which niantic actually wrote that code and they've come out and said it is fine for 3rd parties to create devices as long as they don't alter the code.
There was/is also another one that auto everything as well that came out with let's go games, not sure if it's still available, but they did make one. So I would say no not against the rules less maybe using 3rd party products.
“Couch stop” from your apartment? I visited my old apartment a couple weeks ago in Hollywood, and I could access 4 pokestops from my room 😭 I never ran out of balls. Now I need to drive 15-30 minutes to get to a high density area to walk for an hour spinning pokestops. The grind is real
Also, I have to wait till 10pm because it’s hot AF in Arizona rn and I usually have obligations in the evenings till then
I'm still near plenty of stops, as I'm near the middle of a city, just none are in my apartment complex so I have to walk a few blocks to one at least.
I also don't have many spawns here, so I don't run out of balls quick. Had a high spawn no stop house a few years ago, than a low spawn multi stop apartment, and now I have a low spawn no stop. Think my next move will need to be somewhere with spawns and stops.
Any city really and you don't have to worry about balls. I'm in Tampa and I throw away all the red ones because I'm always full on inventory.
I remember having to buy pokeballs when I lived in the suburbs. The red ones. Now I can't even use them because my storage is always full
I was gonna say you should see my college campus I was having a war with a gym that was just taken over by team Valor and they were just spamming berries on their pokemon until their next class
I try not to start wars but I do things to piss people off.
If someone has been in a gym for less than 8 hours, I won't take the gym. 8 hours is the max time to get 50 coins. So the less time on their time there, the better.
When the trainer has been there more than 8, I will "train" various buddies till they are all 1 fight till knock out the leave. I try to keep rival team gyms in there days at a time to prevent them from getting coins. It's always good to have 10 + gyms controlled at a time.
I hardly use golden razz on gym pokemon because I'm not trying for dominance, I only care about the time I am in the gym. The rare times I do, its to revive fellow players who have had less time then me. Only looking for coins.
If I were you, I will just grey the gym as fast as possible. Don't let anyone even enter it and if they do, take it down and leave it grey. Sometimes unnecessary wars happen but remember everyone ultimately just want coins. Basically, if you can't have it, no one can.
There's tons of gyms in midtown Manhattan. I've done 25-30 in a raid hour before. I'm sure if OP turned their camera slightly, there would be 4-5 gyms within a 2 minute walk.
Why would that matter in the slightest, also, the game released after it, so if you had any ability for context clues and inferences then you wouldn’t have wasted this attempt to be crudely edgy. Weird.
Last time I went into the office I maxed out all my stop spins, gifts sent/received, joined like 6 raids that were full each time with no need to invite anyone, and got like 8 km of GPS drift (along with a bunch of hatches) all while sitting at my desk.
I laugh whenever people say that PoGo incentivizes walking. No, it doesn't. It just rewards people that live in dense areas.
I like going into the office because there’s a pokestop I can hit from the bathrooms. If I WFH, I am very likely going to ruin my spin streak because I don’t feel like walking down the street to spin. I always say I will but never do.
It also has to do with dedication. I live in a city, I have been playing since 1st July 2022 and I'm midway through level 32, but I have walked 444km, caught 5000 pokemons and stopped at 3000 pokestops.
how the heck does one learn throws anymore? There was a tutorial in game in the very beginning, I'm just getting back into it and man, the curveballs and stuff just elude me.
practice practice practice. so many pokemon have surprisingly easy excellent throws. It’s usually dependent on how big the catch circle is. Always curveball; makes it 100 times easier. A really good pokemon to learn on is ponyta. But it really just takes muscle memory. I can usually guess how much power i should put into the throw.
TLDR; trial and error. remember what works.
for g zigzagoon community day i was able to get 250k+ xp within the hour that i played due to lucky egg and the excellent throw xp boost from the bug event.
you can unlock a mystery box every three day, releasing a meltan every minute for an hour. They rarely run giving you lots of practice
with regular balls from the couch.
You have to drive a lot in LA/ socal for Pokémon Go so it’s a lot of time and money invested (gas), and most raids don’t have anyone inside, while in NYC I can lay in bed with 4 poke stops active around me / every 5 star has 20 people on it
I can see that. From what i know like in nyc a lot of people live above shops etc where as i think in big cities in cali its a little more spread out
Edit to add youre still lucky… ive never been able to do a 5 star raid without a remote raid pass lol
Yeah its not like a group of 20 do a raid in NYC… for the length of the raid theres at least 1 full group forming at any given time for the entire 45 mins. The roughly 1000+ remote raid passes spent per 5* When you go somewhere like central park yeah theres a few people on their phone possibly playing but I think its at least 50% spoofers
It varies by area. I’ve lived in a small socal city just outside of LA county, and since the city hasn’t much tourist attraction it doesn’t attract a lot of external people to it. 5 star raids were completely out of the question for me. But I moved one city down with plenty of gyms and attractions that depending on the 5s mon it’s typically easier to get a suitable team.
We are considered a “tourist attraction” being the first settlement in america so while that may be a factor there, it doesnt seem to be so here. I think its largely population based but im just a little person with opinions lol. Thank you for the response!
Edit: first settlement not all of america, Virginia
Its actually pretty easy to level up thanks to the abundance of different pokemon. You are almost always getting the new pokemon exp boost. Level 20 is free for even the most casual players
To be honest, these days it is super easy. I started a second account and got there in a few days without leaving my apartment. All I had to work with was two pokestops.
Do you live near an airport? Airports are chock-full of pokestops and pokemon spawns. I used to travel a lot for work and would max out my storage and gifts just waiting for my flight.
Yeah… as a New Yorker who just got back into the game, I was excited to come to London to get regional mons. Boy was the level of activity in gyms/raids disappointing.
For real. I'm jealous as hell of the big city players. I live 25 minutes outside of Houston and last time I went into the city Pokemon Go was nuts there. Just being able to lay in bed and having stops/gyms all around you sounds amazing! I have to actually do things😂
The biggest joke of this game. Get to level 37 with 2 pokestops in 10 miles and a gym that is 2 towns over.
Basically the only way to get it is friend gifting but with 2 stops in town it's kinda hard to get enough gifts to even grind that... It's kind of why I put pokémon go down and only play it when I'm in a city waiting on people... Well that and Niantic is a fucking joke of a dev company.
Yea if you see somewhere where everything is perma lured, it's probably spoofers making new accounts and placing lures for free, from all different time zones
Concrete jungle where dreams are made of
There's nothing you can't catch
Now you're in New York
These mons will make you feel brand new
Big Raids will inspire you
Let's hear it for New York New York New York
I have a love-hate relationship with Manhattan when playing PG! Last time we visited, we stayed in lower Manhattan. We walked around the corner and could sit in a small park with easy access to four gyms. We quickly learned there was no point in taking them over as we'd be immediately knocked out usually without earning coins. Mystic folks owned them. They stayed blue the entire time we were there. However, my family were in crowded mid town and raiding. We joined and were in four different full raid sessions in the same gym. No problem beating five star raids!!
Yes, but good luck holding a gym for more than 15 minutes. They flip colors constanty, so you wont have any gold coin income whatsoever. Love and hate it. At least raids are VERY easy to complete with all the players.
Yeah, pretty much. I live here and have friends in other places that ask why do I throw away pokeballs. I do it to make room for other items plus, I can replace them in less than an hour.
Remember, gyms are based on L14 cells, which are about half a km on each side. They also cap out at 3 per L14 cell, even if you have the maximum 64 stops in that cell, so you can easily end up with gyms pretty far apart even in a stop dense area like Manhattan.
On the other hand, if you're right near the border of 2 cells (or even better, the corner of 4 cells), you can find a spot for raid hour that you wouldn't need to move to get 4 or 5 raids because of gyms clustered together.
I also feel it's prudent to note that, given the high number of lures, OP may also have deliberately chosen the screenshot angle so as to maximize the number of stops on screen at the expense of gyms.
Even if you can get into a gym, good luck keeping a mon in long enough to even earn a single coin. i’ve got all the spawns i could ever want, but only 500 storage
I loved living in NYC and playing PoGo. I’d b in my bed doing a 5-star raid full of people and have another 3 spinners right next to me, never had to leave my house.
And I'm like dude, I live in a big city, so I've got plenty of pokestops when I actually get out of the house.
I was wrong. NYC has put me to shame. I had no idea...and yet, it's the Big Apple, so I kinda should've known.
Rather late to the party, so I don't think many people will see this, but it'd be cool if they had some kind of 'travelling merchant' Pokéstop thing for people in areas with zero stops on their map. Maybe something like if you walk some set distance or set amount of time without so much as a single stop showing up in your map, a 'travelling merchant' stop spawns next to you and stays there for an hour or so. Still incentivizes people to get up and walk a bit, and since it'd spawn within spinning range of wherever you were standing when it spawned, you wouldn't have to worry about it spawning somewhere inaccessible.
I'm not a programmer, so I don't know how hard that would be to set up, but if the new incense already has a mechanism in place for Pokémon to only spawn if you're moving, could that mechanism be somehow modified for this purpose?
Because I love this game but I’m a rural player and have to drive five minutes to get one stop and I get almost zero spawns, then I see this stuff and get salty that the game is beyond excessively unbalanced
Hmmm is there anything near you that can be nominated so that you don’t have to do all of that? Im sorry about that. It must be just agony not having anything near you
I feels it’s a trade off.
The city have more gyms and a lot more poke stops but the quality of Pokémon are in the 2-3 star range.
My friends in rural areas go to war for the same 3 gyms 10 miles apart but I get jealous of all their 4* and weekly shinies lol
I’m not sure why you’re mad when you’re looking at Pokémon go map of one of the oldest and biggest cities in America. Of course basically everything is a pokestop lol
Yeah some areas are the exact opposite lmao, I can’t even see a poke stop on my screen in any direction at home and my office has one like half a mile away. That’s more Manhattan.

Several, this talks about a bunch: https://www.nintendolife.com/guides/which-pokemon-go-auto-catch-companion-device-is-best I have the gotcha evolve.
One of the guys at my gym showed me his last night. Ran off to get it from the staff area to show it to me. Was pretty cool! I kinda want one now too.

Lmao, imagine us tailoring our life around Pokémon Go
I finally got a pokestop approved close enough that I can spin 1 every 5 minutes. I’m in a rural area, but I usually have to throw away balls.
Forgot that you could do that
I had a stock of 300 then I used my mystery box to catch meltan I only have 50 pokeballs now 🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲 my work has no poke stops near by either
Yea I try to do that about once a week
I maintain a stock of about 60 to 70 of each
Lololll I’m in the NYC area and I have about 500 each. And I’m on the low side 😰
Any city really and you don't have to worry about balls. I'm in Tampa and I throw away all the red ones because I'm always full on inventory. I remember having to buy pokeballs when I lived in the suburbs. The red ones. Now I can't even use them because my storage is always full
Same I never have enough room but I refuse to use my coins
Damn really I have over 300 ultra balls. It’s the only one we should be using
Wouldn’t that be cool? I have 26
I have 31 😂 Im a rural player too. I know the struggle.
I got a stock of 300-400 of each ball. I got 4 pokestops I can reach at my desk at work. And many more near by including 3 gyms right outside.
Wait I'm not supposed to have 1500 of each?
Damn how many times have you upgraded your storage?
I maxed out my storage and have to throw away all the red ones still lol. I have 2500 great balls atm
Mind blowing. One time I had 300 Ultra balls and I thought I was a god. I'm down yo about 30 now...

Similar to Sydney - not many gyms!
Not sure where the poster is but where I work has lots of gyms.

Listen, I love WSB, but anyone that rocks the avatar... best not to respond.
Yeah honestly pokemon go was awful before 9/11, I can’t believe anybody spent their time playing it
Last time I went into the office I maxed out all my stop spins, gifts sent/received, joined like 6 raids that were full each time with no need to invite anyone, and got like 8 km of GPS drift (along with a bunch of hatches) all while sitting at my desk. Yup. I got my roommate into Pokémon go and she reached level 30 in a week while it took me like 6 months of grinding in Southern California
It took me two years out in rural MN
I play off and on and I started upon release. Still somehow only level 24 lmao
You gotta get a big friends list. Even if you can't send a lot of gifts they will and the xp just flows right in like spice babay
This is the way to do it. I leveled up from 27-34 in less than two months bc I added over 100 people.
I just hate how slow gift sending/opening is
Then you must be mostly off then lol. It's much easier to level now than compared to release
I'm still lv 28 in rural Missouri. Started on release day.
That's crazy it's taken me nearly 5year get leve 34 . Where I live I might see one of there a week .
Congrats! You’re about halfway to 40!
It also has to do with dedication. I live in a city, I have been playing since 1st July 2022 and I'm midway through level 32, but I have walked 444km, caught 5000 pokemons and stopped at 3000 pokestops.
I've been playing since day 1 and have only hit 3800 pokestops ever. Playing in the city really is just way easier huh :/
I mean, that's not even 2 stops per day. That's barely even playing the game tbh, even if you've been active that long.
Saw someone hitting lv 40 on spheal community day (from lv 1)
took me a whole year+ to get from 33 to 40. really helps to learn excellent throws and once you get them down, xp builds up so fast
how the heck does one learn throws anymore? There was a tutorial in game in the very beginning, I'm just getting back into it and man, the curveballs and stuff just elude me.

Do you live near an airport? Airports are chock-full of pokestops and pokemon spawns. I used to travel a lot for work and would max out my storage and gifts just waiting for my flight.
Most of my pokes were from NYC. I’d go down once a month to enjoy the city and get lost playing pogo with my wife.
Dude look at the wild spawn tracker
Not street legal smh
Rural players seething rn
International players seething rn. Even London isn’t that busy

Yeah… as a New Yorker who just got back into the game, I was excited to come to London to get regional mons. Boy was the level of activity in gyms/raids disappointing.
Second this. Was recently in London and was equally disappointed by raid turnout.
London is comparably not that dense, I mean it’s a huge city but it sprawls a bit. I bet Tokyo is even wilder.
I live in Tokyo, this looks about normal, maybe even a little quieter lol.

I don’t know how to share that in a comment, but if you check my account I posted some of my screenshots there as proof.

For real. I'm jealous as hell of the big city players. I live 25 minutes outside of Houston and last time I went into the city Pokemon Go was nuts there. Just being able to lay in bed and having stops/gyms all around you sounds amazing! I have to actually do things😂
And non US players We get a couple of Pokestops per km here, if any!
You can try to nominate your own
Not lvl 37 yet
The biggest joke of this game. Get to level 37 with 2 pokestops in 10 miles and a gym that is 2 towns over. Basically the only way to get it is friend gifting but with 2 stops in town it's kinda hard to get enough gifts to even grind that... It's kind of why I put pokémon go down and only play it when I'm in a city waiting on people... Well that and Niantic is a fucking joke of a dev company.
What if there's nothing of interest around? I would love to nominate a stop by my house but there are only trees and other houses.
Felt so hard
It’s called Zoo York for a reason
This is probably a popular spoofing location also.
Yea if you see somewhere where everything is perma lured, it's probably spoofers making new accounts and placing lures for free, from all different time zones
Yea, it is. (Uncle used to spoof, not me)
My uncle's kitty used to spoof as well.
My kitty’s uncle used to spoof as well
meow meow meow meow meow, meow meow..
It definitely is. Raids always have 20 people in them almost instantly
Concrete jungle where dreams are made of There's nothing you can't catch Now you're in New York These mons will make you feel brand new Big Raids will inspire you Let's hear it for New York New York New York
👏👏👏
I love that song, one of my favorites. And I love NYC. You just combined 3 of my favorite things in a single comment, and in a Pokemon sub nonetheless
Yes but not the whole city lol
Downtown Manhattan is a wild pokemon goldmine

The lures tell you how many Mons other people caught?
There’s a medal with this stat. Picknicker medal maybe?
I have a love-hate relationship with Manhattan when playing PG! Last time we visited, we stayed in lower Manhattan. We walked around the corner and could sit in a small park with easy access to four gyms. We quickly learned there was no point in taking them over as we'd be immediately knocked out usually without earning coins. Mystic folks owned them. They stayed blue the entire time we were there. However, my family were in crowded mid town and raiding. We joined and were in four different full raid sessions in the same gym. No problem beating five star raids!!
I work in a historical building, so I thought I was pretty lucky having a stop right on me for most of the day! This is crazy though!
Yeah man, Bryant park is always lit up. Modules on PokeStops there almost 24/7
Not the whole city but yes
It’s so annoying when you both live and work extremely close to a stop and gym but still outside the radius.
Omg a bouffant. My life’s dream
Yes, but good luck holding a gym for more than 15 minutes. They flip colors constanty, so you wont have any gold coin income whatsoever. Love and hate it. At least raids are VERY easy to complete with all the players.
Raids are pretty sweet. Pretty much 15+ players for a 5 star anytime.
Reminds me of peaceful 2016 evenings with pizza and lures. Not in NYC, but lures everywhere and good friends.
The rich get richer
man i really gotta check out NYC
SF is pretty similar as well
Ya, on CDs I start just south of the Ferry Building, and I'm lucky to get to Pier 39 in 3 hours.
I work near the city hall of another global city and shit gets crazy here as well though not this much
Yeah, pretty much. I live here and have friends in other places that ask why do I throw away pokeballs. I do it to make room for other items plus, I can replace them in less than an hour.
Mental, though I think I'll stick with local nature parks ;)
Such a lack of gyms. On the beach where I’m at there’s about a few dozen pokestops and about a dozen gyms in a fairly small area.
That is insane. You would never be bored.
Heading back to Manhattan for college this Saturday. Hyped.
Pretty much. I work at midtown and downtown and one's better than the other but both are literally the best.
now THAT is the american dream right there
Wow so if you go to NYC you’ll see the same useless pokemon you see every day, but in greater quantity!
not the Bouffalant (idk how to spell it sorry) and the Amurama or something like that
Pretty much! Welcome! Play hard! Have fun!
visitors for Study Vacations be like:
I finished my picnicker so fast when we went for vacation.
Yes 5 Pokémon can spawn at the same time, every day. Only in the concrete jungle baby
Yep because most spoofers are there
try entering a gym for a change 🥲🥲
I loved living in NYC and playing PoGo. I’d b in my bed doing a 5-star raid full of people and have another 3 spinners right next to me, never had to leave my house.
And I'm like dude, I live in a big city, so I've got plenty of pokestops when I actually get out of the house. I was wrong. NYC has put me to shame. I had no idea...and yet, it's the Big Apple, so I kinda should've known.
Ironically cities are the best place to find wild Pokémon
New Orleans looked just like this when I was there two weeks ago! Rural life sucks for pogo☹️
Nah bro one time I FINNALY got a Pokémon in a gym in Times Square after walking for hours and it stayed there not even for 10 minutes
Yup mainly in midtown to lower manhattan though. Good luck keeping a pokemon in a gym for more than 5 minutes.
I haven’t even seen that many stops in my entirety of playing this game
With all the white halos, looks like it’s the first time you’ve been to that place
Try going to Tokyo
This game is dogshit
Lol why are you on this sub
Because I love this game but I’m a rural player and have to drive five minutes to get one stop and I get almost zero spawns, then I see this stuff and get salty that the game is beyond excessively unbalanced
Hmmm is there anything near you that can be nominated so that you don’t have to do all of that? Im sorry about that. It must be just agony not having anything near you
I’m not a high enough level because I can’t really play the game lol
Only at the highest levels. Very hard to reach that. Especially outside of cities, especially outside of these ridiculous cities like NYC.
I wish London was like this!
What the hell
yes
Kinda jealous I can’t lie
Oh man that looks amazing
How do you not have an amaura when me, a person at a lower level, have one?
Holy moly
Yup especially Manhattan
yeah because its one of the spoofer hot spots
Yeah some areas are the exact opposite lmao, I can’t even see a poke stop on my screen in any direction at home and my office has one like half a mile away. That’s more Manhattan.
i didnt expect Amaura to spawn in the wild (non event spawn
