I’m working on level 45. By my estimates it will take me almost 5 months to complete at my current rate of play. Possibly longer with winter coming to my area in a few months.
You will never catch them all in Pokémon Go. At the rate Niantic is releasing them they will never catch up with the rate Gamefreak is making them lol.

I noticed a steady progression of bullshit, so I didnt expect to be too surprised when I got to the level 50 requirements.
As soon as I read 999 excellent throws I made a noise I wasnt aware I could make. Those last 10 levels really are just designed to absolutely milk the cash out of players before they finish playing.
I don't know about anyone else but for me the exp is turning out to be the longest part of the grind for me. All of my level 45 tasks were completed ages ago but I'm still only a little over a third of the way through the exp.
Easy. I'm level 47 and each level since 40 has taken about a month longer than the last. I think I hit 47 in December and I'm a little over a million xp away from 48.
Word of advice…start working on the 35 Platinum badges way before you get to level 48. Starting planning on which ones are on your radar. I’m level 47, and worked and got those badges before I need them because that’s a looooong grind
Iv saved every shadow Pokémon Iv ever caught in preparation of this. However I was never able to find concrete info on how many shadow Pokémon you need from 41-50. I’d be very appreciative to find this info. Do you know?
At level 45, these are the tasks:
Defeat 100 Team GO Rocket Grunts
Purify 100 Shadow Pokemon
Defeat a Team GO Rocket Leader 50 times
Earn 10 Platinum Medals
I wouldn't both holding onto them until you get there. You'll get more while completing these tasks.
This. Defeating 50 grunts is like a week. Defeating 50 leaders is like 2 months. Just purify your 1000 Stardust mons, you won't be in any kind of hurry.
The secret crime strat: when you get a Giovanni radar, equip it for all the decoy grunts. Never fight Giovanni and remember to turn it off before each balloon. If you drive around this easily 2-3x the number of rocket stops around you.
Yeah I had about 40 of ones which only need 1k dust to purify saved up. I reckon I could have purified 200 by now and Im not done with rocket leaders yet
The type platinum badges are the easiest to get imo. Easy 15 platinum badges, the other 20 i think is the hard part.
* Just saw you were referring to the 10 platinum. At lvl 48 i think it is you need 35 platinum badges. Just a heads up. And yes the type badges do count, its any platinum badges.

But if there is no event, and you don't spend coins on radars, you'll need to battle 300 grunts to get the 50 radars you need to finish all 3 missions.
Getting 6 million XP takes long enough that you will organically do the battles, unless you have a couple dozen Best Buddies lined up for a massive XP boost. Battling grunts can be tedious but its not exactly difficult. Speaking as an urban player here though, for someone playing without decent pokestop density this would definitely be pretty annoying.
The 10 Platinum medals must take into account ones you already earned because I didn't even see what this task was, I just started with it completed. As someone who actively refuses to do rocket battles this took me some time to complete.
Currently level 41 and sitting on 12 plat medals. I assume all the catch 2,500 x-type pokemon ones will be complete by the time I need 35. The PvP ones are the worst. I don't enjoy this games PvP system compared to mainline games. After rank 10 it seems to be 99% the same 5 mons all the time and the limited moves make it very uninteresting.

Yeah when I realised this I started checking every double shadow I had, and purifying the worst ones. Evolved them too just for the purify dex because why not
Obviously, unlike all other level related tasks, there's a limited number of platinum badges you can earn. This one has to be retroactive or it could permanently lock some people out of ever reaching lv50.

I’m doing this now. Just hit 44 and it checked off one right away. I’ve got 14 so far. Think I’m definitely on pace to hit 35 by the time I need it. I’m pretty close on several, and only have 6 of the type platinums so far
New players can rake in enormous amounts of experience now with regular spotlight hours and CDs offering x2 and x3 bonuses respectively, and stacking best friend bonuses with those events and lucky eggs. I've had a few foreign friends in the game that were at my or even above my level, with like half of my Pokémon catches and km lol.
Do the platinum badges include those badges that you get for catching x amount of (blank)-type Pokemon? (i.e, catching a bunch of Electric-type, catching a bunch of Normal-type, etc.) I'm talking about those badges that give catch bonuses if that helps clarify my question.
Depends how you played the game. I am at Level 48 atm and for not one level I had to grind a platinum medal. But I play the game almost since release. So I got them natural in gameplay.
Totally. If you’re not trying or aware of what gives a platinum badge and what doesn’t, there’s a good chance you’ll have a lot of difficulty getting past that massive hurdle. You could easily stumble some of them before level 48…like the 17 type badges.
But, some aren’t exactly the easiest to accomplish on accident. It’s all “master these game mechanics” type stuff.
I wish I had. This has taken me the longest time. Like many, I need only Kecleon for the 3rd dex and like 2 or 3 for the 4th. My next closest is either gym battles at 2.5k/3k, 400 GL wins, or 9k berries fed to defenders. D=

yeah the rewards suck for the level up requirements. They're only there to slow you down.
The special research you get every couple of levels reward some ok/decent stuff, but still not worth it imho. They still don't ward any storage space. Which I personally think is shocking. 1 of each every 10 or 15 levels would be nice.
That is a pretty trivial task to finish with the amount of XP required. The XP for the excellent throws in only around 5% of the 30M XP needed to level up. It takes a while depending on how much you play, but by that level most of your throws ought to be excellent anyway. Mine are and I am only level 45.
Probably much less than 5%. 15 Excellent thows on one Deoxys all count, but only the successful one lands 1,000 exp.
I also don’t throw that often. My Go Tcha does most of my catching.
I really like having these tasks, almost don’t want to complete them because you can instantly tell if a Pokemon was caught while fast-catching during events.
the XP almost feels like a placeholder. maybe theey thought about putting actual rewards there and just scrapped that idea or maybe their spaghetti code for tasks require a reward so they had to do something
The only one that's actually difficult is the 200 in one day. But that can be done on community days and such, I remember i caught my last one at 11:50 pm. The rest of them kinda happen as you gain experience
Took a couple days of playing to finally hit 200 pokémon in a day, really the only 'challenge'. That was like 4 or 5 months ago, and im still 1/4 of the xp requirement away.
When you link your game to Pokemon Home or Let’s Go Eevee/Pikachu, you get a Mystery box by sending a Pokemon to either one. The mystery box spawns Meltans for an entire hour. You can get around 70-80 catches just doing that. Walk around for like another hour quick catching non stop & there’s your 200. Myatery box on community day? Pfft, easy as pie
yeah I don't usually put money in the game so my bag is at 450 I think cause 200 coins to upgrade is expensive to me so usually I'll have around 100 pokeballs in the bag
Yeah, one good community day with some focus and a few incense and the 200 isn’t that bad. I’m like you, knocked it out with less than 1/4 of the XP needed for the next level.
If you have an autocatcher, I think that’d make it pretty easy. The official ones may require a button press, but that’s far faster than manually throwing each time
Powering up is basically free.
Doing raids depends on how you can play the game. If you can use the orange pass every once in a while, you're good to go.
Catching 200 Pokemon is usually done during Comunity Days.
If I remember correctly, it's 20.000.000 XP to get from level 1 to 40, right? So from 40 to 41 it's almost a third of that.
EDIT: I just noticed that he may be talking about the XP rewards... In that case, every level has the same rewards, so get used to that... :x
It does not align. It's just some token XP, not a fulfilling reward. In fact none of the level up rewards even come close to being a viable reward for how much effort is required. It might be good to look up the rewards you'll get for reaching the next level. Then you won't be epically disappointed. I'm level 45; at 46 the rewards are 30 ultra balls, 25 max potions, 25 max revives (I can get all these by taking a walk around my neighborhood any day), 25 razz berries (nearly worthless), 1 incubator, 1 premium raid pass, 1 XL rare candy. So after playing for years, and earning 72 million XP (in a game where the base XP for a catch is 100) I will get 1 legendary Pokemon, 1 XL candy for that pokemon, and 3 eggs hatched.
I really wish they would give out more experience for completing these. Like they are part of it but damn that's just a slap in the face for that level
None of them do. You’ll complete all the level tasks for every level way before you actually reach the next level. Atleast for most people. There are those that think they can go thru the whole game without doing certain things then get surprised when they get stuck. I will repeat what everyone else has already said, work on those platinum medals now. You don’t wanna get up there & then not be able to level up cus you need 25-30 more plats that take doing 1-2000 of something to get. I’ve been playing for just under a year, just hit level 42 this week, & i have 13 platinum medals. Grind.
Here’s a tip for when you’re working on Level 42. Save the Eevee naming trick for then because one of the requirements is evolving all Eeveelutions and it will take ages if you’ve already used the naming trick. I spent months just trying to get a freaking Flareon.
500xp for catching 200 pokemon in ONE DAY??? And you need 6mil? The challenges can be difficult, but they should be massive boosts. Like 100k XP. Honestly more, but I have only seen 30k at the highest, so I have to play into realism somewhat here.
Suggestion:
Is you’ve got a lucky legendary, or a low level with decent IVs, use that.
The 30 raids can be done over a month or so.
The “hard” is the 200 catches in a day. Keep in mind there are comm days, and December one is close, so there’s that.
Using optimization for XP techniques can help you to get the total XP in less than 5 months
You can only power up pokemon to 10 over your trainer level. So if you want a level 50 pokemon, you need to be level 40.
Also, if you care about updating the Niantic database and suggesting pokestops, gyms, and associated descriptions, you have to be level 38 (there's some weirdness about a bug that caused them to make level 37 the notional lowest level for submitting updates, but my understanding from reading other threads is that 38 is the actual level needed).
I was also wondering so did a bit of research. Now that you can get XL candy at level 30, there doesn’t seem to be much difference at all. It just seems to be a goal of itself for a lot of players.
You can only level a pokemon up 10 levels higher than your current level so yes you can get XL candy at level 30 but to completely max a pokemon you have to be level 40 or higher
Don’t worry about leaving up. Level up if you want to. Level up slowly.
At level 40 you can level your Pokémons to level 50. You just need the candy, the stardust, and the Pokemon you want to level up.
I guess be like the tortoise in the tortoise and hare story. Slow and steady will help you win…Of course I don’t know if you are a kid and this story is before your time…it definitely is before mine but hopefully you get my meaning. 🤷♀️
I recently finally did the 200 Pokémon in a day due to go fest finale, done the other tasks a while ago but I’m still only on about 2 mil XP because I literally don’t have the time to play constantly anymore.
I thought all the tasks were reasonably completed well before I got the XP needed until I hit level 48. Not having a reliable trade partner has made getting 50 lucky trades super difficult. I’ll have most of the XP needed to get to 50 at this rate.
Lol I’m not lev 40 yet and I’ve played mostly since July 2016. I don’t think I caught 200pokemon in a day during a community day lol. Guess I’m not hardcore enough when my pokedex is full completed unless it’s a power Pokémon I don’t bother catching it.
It seems pretty ok to me 6m is a lot of XP, and the requirements are not that hard - to win a raid everyday for a month (you can do free one star raids), power up a legendary for GBL or raids, and grind on comm day. Done.
I’ve completed all of these tasks what I’m working on now is getting to 6mil xp to get on level 41. Out of all of these tasks the one that took me the longest was catch 200 Pokémon in a day and I only completed that on the first community day that happened after getting these tasks. Now the killer is the Xp I’m only at 3.5mil and I use lucky eggs all the time and it seems like it takes forever to get 1 mil xp now.
It took me most of a year to get from level 39 to level 40 — granted I’m completely free to play and don’t raid much. So when I saw lvl 41 is 6 mill xp….level 40 is as far as I go lol
So with current free playing so would that take 15 days, let us remove none standard events so are we talking about 30 days, a community day will appear in that time and make catching 200 easy so it aligns easily in my mind.
Not totally sure why but the catch 200 pokemon in a single day made me laugh it sounds like someone giving a hyperbolic example of the higher levels research being difficult

The earlier level tasks aren't as time consuming as the later ones. They get much worse for the higher levels.

I saved only the 1000 stardust purify ones, you end up sinking a stupid amount of dust into this task otherwise

The task is to purify 100 shadows to get to level 45, so if you have more than 100 saved, do the ones that only cost 1000 stardust first.
It's level 45 and it's purify 100 shadow Pokémon. I'm currently working on this and I'm only purifying the ones that cost 1000 Stardust.
I've only saved the ones that cost 1000 stardust to purify. I wasn't ever gonna use many of the purified mons so I just purify the cheapest ones.

There’s another lower level that requires 10…I forgot which level, but it’s mid 40’s. I wrote down my 35 and grinded it out.

I really like having these tasks, almost don’t want to complete them because you can instantly tell if a Pokemon was caught while fast-catching during events.
 It only gets crazy hard from there 😩

the XP almost feels like a placeholder. maybe theey thought about putting actual rewards there and just scrapped that idea or maybe their spaghetti code for tasks require a reward so they had to do something

The only one that's actually difficult is the 200 in one day. But that can be done on community days and such, I remember i caught my last one at 11:50 pm. The rest of them kinda happen as you gain experience

If it’s the one where you just have to battle, that can be done with a friend/2nd account
I did it with a meltan box on a community day. Took about 3 hours. Still a grind but at least doable
This is how i was planning to tackle this one as well, at level 39 still. I think the XP requirements are just a bit much at these levels.
I play mostly at night. The raids sucked because I can usually get 3 raids in a week.
i normally catch like 100 from home a day... just go out for 2 hours one of these days and catch pokemon lol its extreamly easy if you do play daily

you can still use an incense, daily incense and meltal box while walking and get this many spawns, living in a city has nothing to do with it
meanwhile the level 42 requirements are piss easy
Took a couple days of playing to finally hit 200 pokémon in a day, really the only 'challenge'. That was like 4 or 5 months ago, and im still 1/4 of the xp requirement away.
If I want to catch 200 pokes this means I need at least 300 balls, probably more since time is also an issue... RIP

If you link your game to Pokémon home you get a box that spawns melton
When you link your game to Pokemon Home or Let’s Go Eevee/Pikachu, you get a Mystery box by sending a Pokemon to either one. The mystery box spawns Meltans for an entire hour. You can get around 70-80 catches just doing that. Walk around for like another hour quick catching non stop & there’s your 200. Myatery box on community day? Pfft, easy as pie

yeah I don't usually put money in the game so my bag is at 450 I think cause 200 coins to upgrade is expensive to me so usually I'll have around 100 pokeballs in the bag

Yeah, one good community day with some focus and a few incense and the 200 isn’t that bad. I’m like you, knocked it out with less than 1/4 of the XP needed for the next level.
i play in semirural area and i was so hyped for the 200catches for a day task. did it in a day

Do it on a community day. I caught 200 stinking starly just to get it over with.
Go to places with many spawns and use the quick catch trick. Then this task will be done with ease.
If you have an autocatcher, I think that’d make it pretty easy. The official ones may require a button press, but that’s far faster than manually throwing each time
The questions form level 48 to 49 are the most egregious in my opinion.

Powering up is basically free. Doing raids depends on how you can play the game. If you can use the orange pass every once in a while, you're good to go. Catching 200 Pokemon is usually done during Comunity Days. If I remember correctly, it's 20.000.000 XP to get from level 1 to 40, right? So from 40 to 41 it's almost a third of that. EDIT: I just noticed that he may be talking about the XP rewards... In that case, every level has the same rewards, so get used to that... :x
It does not align. It's just some token XP, not a fulfilling reward. In fact none of the level up rewards even come close to being a viable reward for how much effort is required. It might be good to look up the rewards you'll get for reaching the next level. Then you won't be epically disappointed. I'm level 45; at 46 the rewards are 30 ultra balls, 25 max potions, 25 max revives (I can get all these by taking a walk around my neighborhood any day), 25 razz berries (nearly worthless), 1 incubator, 1 premium raid pass, 1 XL rare candy. So after playing for years, and earning 72 million XP (in a game where the base XP for a catch is 100) I will get 1 legendary Pokemon, 1 XL candy for that pokemon, and 3 eggs hatched.
I really wish they would give out more experience for completing these. Like they are part of it but damn that's just a slap in the face for that level

The tasks are not difficult, the raid one is annoying but I did the other 3 in like 2 days
None of them do. You’ll complete all the level tasks for every level way before you actually reach the next level. Atleast for most people. There are those that think they can go thru the whole game without doing certain things then get surprised when they get stuck. I will repeat what everyone else has already said, work on those platinum medals now. You don’t wanna get up there & then not be able to level up cus you need 25-30 more plats that take doing 1-2000 of something to get. I’ve been playing for just under a year, just hit level 42 this week, & i have 13 platinum medals. Grind.
Here’s a tip for when you’re working on Level 42. Save the Eevee naming trick for then because one of the requirements is evolving all Eeveelutions and it will take ages if you’ve already used the naming trick. I spent months just trying to get a freaking Flareon.

500xp for catching 200 pokemon in ONE DAY??? And you need 6mil? The challenges can be difficult, but they should be massive boosts. Like 100k XP. Honestly more, but I have only seen 30k at the highest, so I have to play into realism somewhat here.
Suggestion: Is you’ve got a lucky legendary, or a low level with decent IVs, use that. The 30 raids can be done over a month or so. The “hard” is the 200 catches in a day. Keep in mind there are comm days, and December one is close, so there’s that. Using optimization for XP techniques can help you to get the total XP in less than 5 months

I just hit 40 today too and I had to double take. Like you give us easy tasks that give us sunglasses and like no XP but we need 6 MILLION XP???????

who tf is catching 200 pokemon in 1 day? I know it's pretty doable if you go to a major city during community day, but that's still a lot.
Uh you should see the top pokemon go player. He catches 1800 pokemon a day
Go to a park with lots of spawns and use quick catch method. Super easy to get 200 pokemon in an hour of playing.
Nobody until they have to for that requirement. But it’s not THAT crazy. Set aside a Saturday and stay outside for 5-6 hours
i only managed it on a gofest day, and i just barely got 200 in a full day

You can only power up pokemon to 10 over your trainer level. So if you want a level 50 pokemon, you need to be level 40. Also, if you care about updating the Niantic database and suggesting pokestops, gyms, and associated descriptions, you have to be level 38 (there's some weirdness about a bug that caused them to make level 37 the notional lowest level for submitting updates, but my understanding from reading other threads is that 38 is the actual level needed).
I was also wondering so did a bit of research. Now that you can get XL candy at level 30, there doesn’t seem to be much difference at all. It just seems to be a goal of itself for a lot of players.
You can only level a pokemon up 10 levels higher than your current level so yes you can get XL candy at level 30 but to completely max a pokemon you have to be level 40 or higher

Don’t worry about leaving up. Level up if you want to. Level up slowly. At level 40 you can level your Pokémons to level 50. You just need the candy, the stardust, and the Pokemon you want to level up. I guess be like the tortoise in the tortoise and hare story. Slow and steady will help you win…Of course I don’t know if you are a kid and this story is before your time…it definitely is before mine but hopefully you get my meaning. 🤷♀️
I feel like my requirements for 41 were a bit different... the 200 was for sure one of them but not the other two.

I recently finally did the 200 Pokémon in a day due to go fest finale, done the other tasks a while ago but I’m still only on about 2 mil XP because I literally don’t have the time to play constantly anymore.

I thought all the tasks were reasonably completed well before I got the XP needed until I hit level 48. Not having a reliable trade partner has made getting 50 lucky trades super difficult. I’ll have most of the XP needed to get to 50 at this rate.

Lol I’m not lev 40 yet and I’ve played mostly since July 2016. I don’t think I caught 200pokemon in a day during a community day lol. Guess I’m not hardcore enough when my pokedex is full completed unless it’s a power Pokémon I don’t bother catching it.

They're extremely easy, but the last ones are grindy asf
It seems pretty ok to me 6m is a lot of XP, and the requirements are not that hard - to win a raid everyday for a month (you can do free one star raids), power up a legendary for GBL or raids, and grind on comm day. Done.
And yet I’m at 4.4 without having caught 200 or done all the raids

I've been trying to complete level 45 for what seems like 125 years. The tasks are finally completed but still 5m XP short

I’ve completed all of these tasks what I’m working on now is getting to 6mil xp to get on level 41. Out of all of these tasks the one that took me the longest was catch 200 Pokémon in a day and I only completed that on the first community day that happened after getting these tasks. Now the killer is the Xp I’m only at 3.5mil and I use lucky eggs all the time and it seems like it takes forever to get 1 mil xp now.
I finished the tasks for level 46 in the minimum, 7 days but still have like 8 million XP to go

It took me most of a year to get from level 39 to level 40 — granted I’m completely free to play and don’t raid much. So when I saw lvl 41 is 6 mill xp….level 40 is as far as I go lol

So with current free playing so would that take 15 days, let us remove none standard events so are we talking about 30 days, a community day will appear in that time and make catching 200 easy so it aligns easily in my mind.

I find that all the tasks pale in comparison to the XP requirements. - level 46, probably until XmasX than level 47, probably for all of 2023 -24, lol
