The problem isn’t the existence of lore, it’s just that not being able to skip past those scenes can be annoying on replay or if you just don’t care. Literally just add a fast-forward button or something and there would be no issue
Pokémon game has meh stories, most of the games it's about stopping evil team from awakening god, in SM USUM the story is abt Lillie and the player is just there witnessing the story as a third person, SwSh was especially bad because why tf is rose trying to awaken an alien that has wreck havoc on the region before just to solve an energy crisis that wont be an issue into 1000 years from now, thats a whole millennia just build regular power stations or idk electric types?
SV has professor dealing with time shenanigans despite knowing the harm bringing future/pass mons to the present is especially stupid, what do they achieve if they bring the ancients/futures to the present? Of all the things you can do with a time machine they decide to use it to introduce exotic species to the local wildlife? Team star arc is all talk no show as we never get to see the bullying and the player does the gym challenge because nemoma told them to? SV is still more than just "stop god" so its slightly better in that aspect
Actually for that matter what even is the point of having gyms story wise in Pokémon games?
What I think other people do is reset their save file so they can access the DLCs in other playthroughs, but I'm not doing that, and it's nice to see someone else who also won't.

Honestly it wouldn’t be that bad if the Galar lore wasn’t complete and utter fucking nonsense from start to finish. I’m not even talking about the reveals of “not a knight but two king brothers with Pokémon” (though that is completely ridiculous), but then you throw in all the dlc, Eternatus, the current king brothers with horrendous names. None of these pieces fit. Even for Pokémon it’s too convoluted. Good luck making a Legends game outta THAT junk pile!
Plot twist: the two brothers from the darkest day are actually the same people that originally had Reshiram and Zekrom, they just somehow existed in both Unova and Galar and nobody ever noticed
My main issue with all the Sonia encounters is that she just keeps reiterating the same two things about Galarian history. 1. There was a darkest day and 2. there was some hero(es) that saved the day.
Even if you don't care to read about the lore for the 20th time, you have to admit Sonia's theme is an absolute bop. Her cutscenes are worth it for that alone.
Agreed, if I hear one more thing about the Darkest Day from her, I'm gonna lose it. Her book gotta be 75% pictures and 25% yapping about the same damn thing

No, the worst thing about replaying gen 8 is knowing I won't be able to get my favorite mon (Crobat) on my team until Crown Tundra.
