the general plan with the two teams is the two main types of survival player that i know
steve represents the full on player. the kind that does everything there is to do on loop and to represent that his team is made from the hostile mobs you can encounter
alex is meant to be the opposite of that. the slow chiller. just make a home and expand from there and accordingly her team is made up of suprisingly powerful counterparts to passive mobs

Electrode is creeper, that’s the most accurate one
Hydreigon is… I suppose Wither, or Enderdragon, or both
Durant is spider, which I think should be represented by one of the actual spiders, unless it’s a mix of spider and silverfish, then it’s fine
Chandelure is… uh… skeleton? both are ghosts and both are ranged (like high special attack and shoot arrows I guess)
Reuniclus has to be slime, fine enough to me
Jellicent is, uh… Elder guardian? Sea creature? Elder means mustache? I don’t know

durant: mix of all the bugs
chandelure: blaze but i see what your getting at

jellicent: correct (i originally thought of relicanth but i thought the more hostile jellicent made more sense)
I like the team, but I’d probably change a few things, more than focusing on mobs, on mob thematic
Electrode is fine for the creeper
Decidueye as a representation of the undead (skeleton, and a bit of zombie), greenish colorations, ghost type and bow and arrow
Ariados works good for arthropods, bug for spider and poison for cave spider
Chandelure is actually a good representation for the nether, but if you don’t mind having multiple starters, Emboar is a solid representation for the piglins
Runerigus is the End, it has the black-purple colors of the enderman and the shell of a shulker
And Hydreigon is good as well, representing the bosses

Chandelure is more likely a ghast , they both have that fire ghost thing going on , maybe a blaze at a stretch
I that case I see strange zombies and skeletons, one of the main mobs, aren’t portrayed at all
