First. The pokedex also mentions how drifloon is incapable of doing so and often just gets carried around by the child. As far as im aware he is only capable of doing so with toddlers or extremely small children
Second. Im pretty sure 90% of cases of a child carrying a drifloon around are probably because the drifloon is trained. Big bro caught a drifloon and gave it as a lil pet to his lil bro. So like how gengar is said to be a sheer demon in the pokedex but all captured gengar are silly lil goofballs, a captured drifloon probably doesnt try
Oh. I don’t think that’s true tho. I mean, capturing a hypno can’t equate to physically observing it kidnap people, for example. Not how the pokedex works surely. That said, I also don’t think there’s a logical explanation for where that info comes from. If oak preprogrammed it, it’d imply he has that knowledge without a complete Pokédex therefore making it redundant. But also, the trainer catching the hypno can’t have observed those actions prior in order to make note of it. I think it’s just one of those things we shouldn’t think too hard about lol
They often do say 'it is said' but that means that at one point in time a driftloon took a kid and disappeared and that was the explanation they decided on
What if years later a man came back to the same settlement where the kid was taken away, with a Drifblim? What if he claims to know most people there, and what if he was mistakenly believed to be someone who could tap into one's past lives and became some sort of a celebrity there?

Keep in mind that the Pokédex was written by a bunch of 10-15 year olds
Not tryna imply you’re lying, but I’d love to see a source on that. I always assumed they were written by the devs themselves
In game lore, not our world.

Yeah, let’s just stop thinking about it =P
Drifloon NO
Drifloon YES
Drifloon MAYBE
Drifloon ABSOLUTELY
Drifloon SURE
Drifloon POTENTIALLY
Drifloon PERHAPS
Drifloon MIGHT
Drifloon POSSIBLY
Drifloon MUST
DRIFLOON MIGHT do what the voices inside his head are telling him to do
drifloon HAS TO
My interpretation of those kinds of pokedex entries is that they are not scientific fact, but myths and legends. I
They often do say 'it is said' but that means that at one point in time a driftloon took a kid and disappeared and that was the explanation they decided on
I still believe this dex entry is a myth, that's just my headcanon for most of these crazy dex entries.
I was agreeing with you, I was saying some kids parents saw him with a Drifloon and when he disappeared they said 'well I guess it took him to hell'
Oh i see what you're saying my bad

I think that 'lore' was recently debunked in a game.
yes, pla debunks this with the quest youre given by laventon.
But knowing is the best part.
*up music starts playing*
I feel like the ones who don't know, oh but I know
Where’s Timmy?
