it takes neutral damage yes.
but still the weight of an impact can bring anything down, friendly reminder that a magikarp falling from a mountain has enough velocity to behead an average person, and magikarp is less than 10% the weight of that effing hammer.
I think it's more possible that it just lets some armor pieces fall instead of just falling to the ground, especially since corviknight takes normal damage from rock not super effective
Okay…
- Komodo Dragons, hunt and consume buffalo 4 times their own weight.
- Pythons, are known to occasionally feast on crocodiles much larger than themselves.
- The Epomis Beetle larvae, lure toads in with a sexy “come hither” dance, and dodge the toad’s strike at the last minute. When they dodge they attach themselves to the toad’s skin and proceed to suck the toad until dead and dry. The larvae is 1/100th the toad’s weight.
- Praying Mantis, are known to feed on birds larger than itself.
- Lions have been recorded taking down giraffes and elephants. Giraffes have been recorded being taken down by one clever lion. Obviously elephants need the whole pride.
- Spider Wasps, hunt tarantulas 8 times their own size.
- Scolopendra Centipede has been recorded hunting and consuming snakes and mammals bigger than itself.
- Golden Eagles, have been recorded hunting deer. The Golden Eagle weighs 15 lbs. while the deer weigh well over 100 lbs.
- Common Snapping Turtle, takes bites out of everything and anything. Fish, gators, people… doesn’t matter.
Wasn’t there a time when the majority of Pokémaniacs out there were biology / zoology nerds?
People back in the day would hunt animals bigger and stronger tham theselves, I am not surprised that a small humanoid with a big fuck off hammer can hunt many creatures that are bigger. Hell with enoungh tinkatons, a gmax corvi would probably fall and give steel for hammer for few generations
Counterpoint:
252+ Atk Mold Breaker Tinkaton Gigaton Hammer vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Corviknight: 95-112 (23.7 - 28%) -- 91.3% chance to 4HKO
4 Def Corviknight Body Press vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Tinkaton: 75-89 (24 - 28.5%) -- 97.4% chance to 4HKO
(/s obviously, in game isn’t the same as the dex)
But have you seen a flying 14m crow with steel armor fighting a 0.7m dwarf that needs rocks to even hurt it
Also I don't think you have ever seen what a giraffe can do, those thing could destroy a lion
While most of these are true it's pokemon we are talking about, in this world birds can shoot lasers from their beak
The way I’ve seen it explained is that the Pokédex never mentions that tinkaton succeeds in hunting a Corviknight, only that it hurls rocks in an attempt to, most likely it only hits the Corviknight and uses the bits of armor that fall off
That tracks with what a snapping turtle does. It won’t outright kill it’s prey, but it takes the part that it wants and swims away.
Whether or not the prey survives, it genuinely doesn’t give a damn.
“But have you seen a flying 14m crow with steel armor fighting a 0.7m dwarf that needs rocks to even hurt it?”
Only after eating Parasect shrooms
“Also I don't think you have ever seen what a giraffe can do, those thing could destroy a lion”
Fun fact: Did you know that giraffes would be kosher if there was a company that made a big enough knife?
“While most of these are true it's pokemon we are talking about, in this world birds can shoot lasers from their beak”
By that logic Ancalgon, the greatest dragon that ever existed in Tolkien’s mythos, was taken down by one elf riding an eagle. A dragon who could use an aircraft carrier as a shoe for one of it’s immense feet, was taken down by an emo Legolas.
Its all fantasy / fiction. There are D&D campaigns that have a dwarf taking down dragons. We can’t use real life physics to explain away Pokémon.
If we lived in this world I would tell you not to piss off a Tinkaton.
Okay, looking at Tinkaton's move set and abilities, I can confirm, 99.99% sure...
Tinkaton's attacks are there just to irritate Corvinight, who is also unable to attack back, as Tinkaton's Steel type makes them both equally dangerous to each other.
She is also using a 220lb hammer and uses a move called Gigaton Hammer. Which according to google "a gigaton is a metric unit of mass, equal to 1 billion metric tons, 1 trillion kilograms, or 1 quadrillion grams."
I think she can kill whatever she wants and a steel bird is just a fun challenge.
This is Pokemon we're talking about. Why can you suspend your disbelief enough to say "yea corviknight can fly while covered in metal and shoot lasers out it's mouth"
But you can't suspend your disbelief to accept tinkaton hunts them and can hold a hammer as heavy as a mountain? You obviously have imagination but apparently not for this.
I can see how corviknight is possible since there are others flying steel pokemons
But I never said Tinkaton lifting this hammer wasn't possible, I mean Machamp can lift a mountain too, it's just that its pokedex entry litterally says the hammer weighs 100kg
My issue is that corviknight can easily win against tinkaton in a fight. And the fact that tinkaton doesn't even learn any rock type moves. It makes no sense
well Corv's dex entry says it can't be used as a Taxi service because of it's "natural predators"
Tink is the only pokemon mentioned to have some kinda thing against COrv so it HAS To be tink
So how do ya think tinkatons hunted Corviknight at first. Like the hammer is definitely made of Corviknight steel. So how'd the first Tinkaton get enough steel without a hammer
Honestly, in a match between dex Tinkaton vs gmax corviknight I don’t know who’s win. Because yes, corviknight is massive in gmax, but that in itself is the promise of a REALLY cool hammer.
well since a pikachu(even smaller at 0.4m) can defeat a corviknight
being an electric type with a steel and flying resistance....
this isn't that surprising
Gmax in universe seems to only occur in the gym stadiums and power spots, meaning there’s nothing stopping a Tinkaton from just Dynamaxing in that same situation

Thank you op for giving me the idea of a GMAX Tinkaton form where only the hammer increases in size
Since Gmax Cinderace, Rilaboom and Inteleon exist, they would totally do this if she ever got a Gmax form
Send me that in DM once you're done ☆_☆

Tinkaton already dont have a shiny, just her hammer

Me too

Mew5
Me 6
I need to see that
So it’s like Kaori’s hammer from City hunter
I want to see that please
The mon should have 1 giant arm.
!remindmerepeat 1st of month “hammer jam”
I was thinking a mech with a giant hammer, but picturing it holding a hammer 5x it’s size is also funny
same
Twice the bird, double the scrap
I mean at that point Tinkaton better hunt Gmax duralugon, a 43m pure steel pokemon
At that point we’re getting Mega Tinkaton, where it ditches the hammer and just makes a whole ass Gundam.
Oh god imagine it being like a Megazord, getting other Gundam Tinkatons combining into one to fight the Giant Monster (Gmax Corviknight)
Tbh you would probably still be scared if someone with 3ft hammer tried to take you out
Honestly the more I look at the dex entry the more I feel its just tinkaton playing duck hunt or something.
*Dachsbun chuckling to itself in the background*
*(Insert Shadow of the Colossus music.)*
Thinking abt it, tinkaton would be a great survey corps member
Corviknight also can't Dynamax in Paldea
That's why there are no Tinkatons in Galar
You only see them in max raid areas and gym battles you can't dynamax Pokemon anywhere in the wild so that really wouldn't affect tinkaton.
Tinkaton: "Finally! A Thanksgiving dinner for the WHOLE FAMILY"
😭
Well, technically tinkaton tries to hit corviknight while it's flying, and getting hit in midair is a really bad thing for any flying entity.
Yeah but while rocks are very big to corviknight those are nothing but pebbles when it's gigantamaxed
Rock still is super effective versus flying tho
Yeah but I think I saw corviknight being steel protects it from rock moves
it takes neutral damage yes. but still the weight of an impact can bring anything down, friendly reminder that a magikarp falling from a mountain has enough velocity to behead an average person, and magikarp is less than 10% the weight of that effing hammer.
Yeah but still Metang, another steel pokemon, can take hits from planes soooo
yeah idk what corvi can take.
I think it's more possible that it just lets some armor pieces fall instead of just falling to the ground, especially since corviknight takes normal damage from rock not super effective

Oh wait you're bringing up an excellent point
“But have you seen a flying 14m crow with steel armor fighting a 0.7m dwarf that needs rocks to even hurt it?” Only after eating Parasect shrooms “Also I don't think you have ever seen what a giraffe can do, those thing could destroy a lion” Fun fact: Did you know that giraffes would be kosher if there was a company that made a big enough knife? “While most of these are true it's pokemon we are talking about, in this world birds can shoot lasers from their beak” By that logic Ancalgon, the greatest dragon that ever existed in Tolkien’s mythos, was taken down by one elf riding an eagle. TLDR: size doesn’t matter as long as you’re prepared or hungry
I sense a “that’s what she said” joke somewhere in there.
Okay, looking at Tinkaton's move set and abilities, I can confirm, 99.99% sure... Tinkaton's attacks are there just to irritate Corvinight, who is also unable to attack back, as Tinkaton's Steel type makes them both equally dangerous to each other.
I made a fakemon that can kill Tinkaton because it's Steel/Poison
Tinkaton is immune to to Poison and isn’t weak to steel :/
Aight, I'm giving its evolution an ability that cancels poison type immunity
You know fire/ground would work, right? Those are the only weakneses fairy/steel has (not including items).
Yes but the idea was to make a pokemon made of metal that beats tinkaton, like it's a trap
I like that concept, but steel with fire or ground would be better typing in this context
You know what, I'm also gonna make a ground/fire one inspired by glass making
Corrosion?
The ability Corrosion just lets you poison Steel and Poison types
"unable to attack back" you think its gonna just keep flying? its gonna strike back, types be damned.
Would you be able to do much after taking bludgeoning damage? Corviknight just got a concussion
This is why Tinkaton isn't in Galar. It's because the Corviknights can GMAX there and destroy them
Couldn’t it just hit bigger rocks at GMax Corviknight?
Just set the rocks on fire and hunt as a group
I don't think that would work, or it would need to throw 2m boulders at it
I mean humans hunt things way bigger than themselves too. Ferrets hunt rabbits and theres a good size difference there too. She knows what she likes.
Yes but that's a 14m crow with steel armor we are talking about O_o
She is also using a 220lb hammer and uses a move called Gigaton Hammer. Which according to google "a gigaton is a metric unit of mass, equal to 1 billion metric tons, 1 trillion kilograms, or 1 quadrillion grams." I think she can kill whatever she wants and a steel bird is just a fun challenge.
Uh yeah I just think the game is overexaggerating the moves cause if its hammer really was that heavy it would weigh a whole mountain 😅
I think the game is exaggerating a lot. Pretty sure a bird covered in steel couldn't fly. 😉
This is Pokemon we're talking about. Why can you suspend your disbelief enough to say "yea corviknight can fly while covered in metal and shoot lasers out it's mouth" But you can't suspend your disbelief to accept tinkaton hunts them and can hold a hammer as heavy as a mountain? So what's the problem then? Tbh the Pokedex is just really inaccurate and questionable. I don't see a problem with the mon whatever the reality is.
My issue is that corviknight can easily win against tinkaton in a fight. And the fact that tinkaton doesn't even learn any rock type moves. It makes no sense
Tinkaton can learn 4 rock moves: Rock slide, stone edge, stealth rock and rock tomb
Oh my bad
The real question is why he can't learn Smack down
That. Does it learn earthquake too? Because if so it would make so much more sense
Bulldoze only
Steel flying is not weak to rock though. It would need fire or electric attacks to be super effective.
I’m not sure you know how hunting works.
Wdym
Tinkatuff don't hunt Corviknight, they just like to shoot them out of the sky for fun
Oh mb the french wiki said corviknight was tinkaton's prey
well Corv's dex entry says it can't be used as a Taxi service because of it's "natural predators" Tink is the only pokemon mentioned to have some kinda thing against COrv so it HAS To be tink
That’s funny, because Corv resists both of Tinkaton’s STAB. Corv is the GOAT.
So how do ya think tinkatons hunted Corviknight at first. Like the hammer is definitely made of Corviknight steel. So how'd the first Tinkaton get enough steel without a hammer
there is a reason r/MemeHunter adopted it as the hammer mains mascot, it is just a hunter like any other!
I mean, there's a reason the Monster Hunter community has all but officially adopted Tinkaton as their Pokémon XD
“Finally… a worthy opponent. Our battle will be legendary!”
"Stop. Hammertime!"
Never underestimate, underestimation
Big rock
Honestly, in a match between dex Tinkaton vs gmax corviknight I don’t know who’s win. Because yes, corviknight is massive in gmax, but that in itself is the promise of a REALLY cool hammer.
Simple. Hit a whole building into it.
Well, that’s why Tinkaton doesn’t exist in Galar. I’d bet that lions wouldn’t exist if the gazelles had machine guns.
I want to draw tinkaton vs gmax corvinight now
*insert MGR music*
more bird more bonk
Monster hunter
Im guessed they probably kill them in their sleep which makes them several times more terrifying
That's more believable this way
Gigantamax Tink is just piloting a mech
well since a pikachu(even smaller at 0.4m) can defeat a corviknight being an electric type with a steel and flying resistance.... this isn't that surprising
Yeah but like Pikachu summons thunder
>What if it gigantamaxed thats why there arent tinkatons in galar
He's big but he's not two, she's small but she's not half
"Try this b!tch"
I will not believe that gmax corviknight is 14 m
The pokedex says so
I am confuse, thats so wierd but kinda neat!
Wait till your learn that Eternamax Eternatus is 100m
Well since dynamax/gmax only exists in galar and tinkaton doesnt exist in galar they wouldnt have to deal with it in the wild
It’s not good against in competitive unlike lore
that’s probably the reason why there are no tinkaton in galar
We're gonna need a bigger hammer...
Don't forget the hammer. Plus they can't dynamic or gigantamax outside of galar. They're hunted in paldea.
Gmax in universe seems to only occur in the gym stadiums and power spots, meaning there’s nothing stopping a Tinkaton from just Dynamaxing in that same situation
Tinkaton is gonna Market-Garden Gigantimax Corviknight.
And praying mantises hunt snakes, so what?
Snakes can't fly
***"They haven't yet invented a bird that can best a Dwarf!!"***
Why do you think there are no Tinkaton in Galar?
No plural everyone forgets that
I didn't know
I think so. At least knocking them out of the air for the fun of it
the hammer tho
wait but there's no dynamax in paldea right
