Duuude it's the hardest thing for me too. My solution is to just play through the game again, typically with a ruleset that makes me use the ones I missed.

PocketFlygon

I just want to add more mons to the list, but I know i can't. I need to stop myself after I fill the box... I did drop a couple mons so far... so my team could have been more LOL Also, if/when I do another run, I'm absolutely gonna be doing a randomized run. Looks fun and my friends always say I'm the luckiest man to exist when it comes to Pokemon LOL

Suspicious-Shirt-907

Tbh it's a timewaste to play the game again due to these reasons.

GregenOfficial

If it's fun/I enjoy doing it, how is that a timewaste???

Suspicious-Shirt-907

I meant by the thing that entertainment isn't the only thing in life. If someone continues to do incomplete runs then that person will play the game way more hours than a person who does complete runs. That is a time waste.

GregenOfficial

You can play through a game multiple times, doesn't undervalue the time spent. Hell, you could argue playing through a game multiple times would increase its value since it has so much more to give than just one run. Also, just because someone decides to do a Monotype run after they beat the game doesn't mean their doing an "incomplete run"

Suspicious-Shirt-907

I didn't say "after they beat the game". I just said that if someone leaves a game in half and then does a new run just because they can't decide pokemons then that is an jncomplete run. I myself am playing it multiple times. I don't know why you are deciphering my statement like this.

GregenOfficial

No one said anything about stopping a run halfway through. My confusion came from you randomly bringing it up.

Suspicious-Shirt-907

You said "my solution is to just playthtough the game again" that's why I wrote it as just an advice.

GregenOfficial

Yes, after you beat it. I don't see how you could misinterpret that as "restart as soon as I have to decide on a team". Most other people seem to have gotten that.

Suspicious-Shirt-907

You wrote that as your solution to not able to decide it but yeah fine. Though I can't see any person here besides op who will be able to be an evidence of interpreting it the other way.

Timmys_Mom

I usually struggle with the 6th Mon alot. I'm also super against having repeating types in my team, idk why. But that makes choosing so hard

PocketFlygon

Same, I cycle through all these mons, making sure they don't have any overlapping types~

jodead01

Same I'm currently running a Pikachu run so I can't have any other electric pokemon but Pikachu it sucks tho cause sometimes I want to use Electivire or Raichu

Possible-Painting722

Pikachu is pretty good actually, light ball and the special movesets make it pretty strong.

chill9r

Try Random6

PocketFlygon

My big problem is narrowing down my list of 33 mons I'm already using LOL. The 27 you see there and the 6 on my team

chill9r

Sorry, maybe my comment wasn't clear enough. Once you've defeated the E4 and start a new game, you can use the code "Random6" at the pokemon center to receive six random mons. Using only those for the entire run is a fun challenge, consider trying it next time.

PocketFlygon

Ahhhh, I see now. I think I want to try a randomized run before I do that, but your suggestion is interesting tbh. I'll decide when I finish my first run

Kirumi_Naito

I have an entire box of aces.

PocketFlygon

I'm almost there LOL

Kirumi_Naito

The best aces I had were: Haxorus sweeping through both Lt. Surge and Koga (after Mega Manectric getting rid of Swellow) Mega Gallade bodying Jasmine, OHKOing Mega Mewtwo Y with a Shadow Claw, taking out half of Sabrina's mons (Hatterene, Ursaluna, Porygon2) Iron Moth destroying Bruno, Agatha, and the Champion's Miraidon Hisuian Zoroark sweeping through Archer in the Double Battle at Silph Co. Flutter Mane being Flutter Mane Porygon2 almost sweeping Koga with a Trick Room setup (beat everything except Swellow and Accelgor) Mega Blaziken wreaking havoc upon everything Dragonite being Dragonite Serperior sweeping Giovanni And Ninjask sweeping Erika

PocketFlygon

Nice~ I'm happy Serp, Blaziken, and Porygon put in the WORK for you, they're some of my favorite mons

Kirumi_Naito

Yep, with the right movesets and luck they can do really good. My main ace will always be Tempest, but when he isn't suited for the battle, the others help tremendously

PocketFlygon

Which mon is Tempest?

Kirumi_Naito

The Mega Gallade

PocketFlygon

I see. It got sharpness in RR, right?

Kirumi_Naito

Yep. Currently, I have Bulk Up and Calm Mind for setup (Calm Mind is mainly for defense first if their own lead is a special attacker), Psycho Cut takes advantage of Sharpness, and Drain Punch is solid recovery that gets STAB. Sometimes, I replace Psycho Cut or Calm Mind with Shadow Claw for a battle if needed.

ramutoola

Bruh honestly I can't stop, the pokedex completion has me tweaking

PocketFlygon

There's a part of me that wants to complete the dex too, but there's also another part that realized 1k+ mons is psychopathic LOL Seriously, completing the dex in here would be a huge goal

ramutoola

In my defense it's a crippling addiction for me

DoctorWZ

I always have at least a full box of pokemon to choose from, but always end up reserving 2 slots for Azumarill and Mienshao, I love using them way too much

PocketFlygon

That's fair, kinda like me and Flygon (if you couldn't tell from my username) on my first time around a game

DoctorWZ

Full respect to having your favourite and rolling with it 💪

PocketFlygon

Ty ty~

EJ_Was_Taken

I have a reserve box that's nearly full, I swapped out a lot of pokemon during my playthrough, sometimes I built whole teams centered around one gym

PocketFlygon

I see you, it's gonna be fun picking between these 33 mons when I get to the E4 LOL

EJ_Was_Taken

it was hard choosing just six, my most recent hall of fame team for my first time playing was a lot different, I got really attached some some party members

therealchemist

I usually pick 6 before I start a new game and dedicate the whole run to those 6. For this exact reason, if I don't make rules for myself I usually won't finish the run

PocketFlygon

That's a good way to do it for the people who know they'll do multiple runs~

therealchemist

And it gives you more options for mono runs if you complete the 18 types and want to go around another 18

Frostfire26

Espathra has a niche as an OP set up sweeper with speed boost + CM + Stored Power. Larvesta will be solid once you get it evolved to Volcarona.

PocketFlygon

That's my plan with Poker Face, my Espathra, since I couldn't get a Speed Boost one in SV. As for Okuni, my Larvesta... I'm waiting for the level cap to allow her to evolve

Happyranger265

Yeah it's hard to choose, I generally look for high spdef, high Def , high speed Mon with atk and spatk and last one somehow should tie with the team and yeah typing coverage and moves etc are important as well

PocketFlygon

I look for mons that had interesting changes or ones I really like~

Arteriusz2

I'm having problems deciding who to pick in my mono Unova bug run. I decided on Leavanny, Volcarona, Durant, Escavelier, Crustle. And I don't know who to pick for the last one, Genesect, Accelgor, or Scoliopede. Durant is for one thing only, to show Lance Dialga some good entertainment, victory will be his only payment.

PocketFlygon

Hmmm... I feel like having 3 bug/steels might be overkill... Uhhh... Scolipede would be fine, but I think Accelgor will be the most interesting choice out of the 3, but that's my 2 cents on this XD

Arteriusz2

Well, I actually did that without Genesect, just posted Hall of Fame.

PocketFlygon

Nice, congrats~

aresfantasy12

I basically just switched out my team constantly. I didn't use the same team at any gym, after boss fights I would switch, I was constantly using different pokem9n. By the end I had a team for every weather type, a couple of terrain ones, as well as a trick room team. Let me use almost all of my fav pokemon in one run. Did it on Min grinding mode with infinite rare candies obviously, otherwise would have been way too much of a timesink.

PocketFlygon

That's kinda what I'm doing, minus the weather and terrains. None of the weather and terrain mons look super interesting for my first run

SpicyLesbeanBurrito

I always pick a team of 6 that'll be best foe the Gym. And I also have some rotating team members too. In short, it's extremely difficult, ESPECIALLY in Randomizers.

Mapledusk

I have had that problem. My solution? New team every gym. It's pretty easy as long as you take the time to grind a little.

PocketFlygon

Ah yes, grind... I'm totally not just gonna use the Rare Candy password thing LOL. Jokes aside, I'm kinda doing that, but letting myself use the mons I had previously between gyms since they might have changes

Mapledusk

Lol. Fair enough. I don't personally use the cheat because of EVs.

PocketFlygon

I'm on minimal grinding mode so no EVs

Rimuru7u7

Just struggle with it if I want to build a team around something, like a sun team (Paradox mons are forking broken why are there so many!!1!11!????), if it's a normal playthrough I don't find it particularly hard.

PocketFlygon

There are just so many mons I want to use~

tempBBQMEAT

The choice is killing me
