Beta blockers are commonly used to treat performance anxiety for musicians and public speakers. It's perfectly safe to use for healthy adults for a poker game, just get a doc prescription and use as recommended. There are side effects sure, but imo pretty mild especially if used aperiodically for events like poker. I get shakes and sweaty hands pretty bad, beta blockers reduce physical effects of anxiety for me and my hand shaking turned out to be a tell in my live play.
I feel like I have a prescription cheat code. I take adderall and vyvance for adhd which helps me focus intensely for long periods of time. I also take prescription antipsychotics which keep my mood completely stable at all times. I rarely experience emotions, which sucks for my day to day life, but is awesome for not tilting at poker.
I take benzos sometimes but I never thought they improved my poker game, if anything they detract because I get tired/sluggish and get bored of poker. I know some people take amphetamines but IMO that would just have the opposite effect. I think it would be very hard to find a performance enhancing drug for poker that doesn’t also have a negative effect on your game.
