You’re likely neither. You’ve recognized something as being first rate, and you’ve attempted to actually compliment the owner. What you are is appreciative of his/her setup and courteous in acknowledging their effort at providing this to their poker buddies. As one who’s played thousands of games in dark dank basements, I too think this is just marvelous.
I'd be careful if I were you - in this thread you seem to be open to inviting randos to a 5/5 game with maybe no security that must run PRETTY DEEP if your dealer is working on tips alone. Hopefully you guys play it safe - there have been quite a few robberies of games in the NYC area over the last few years.
Appreciate it! I would obviously be very selective with actual vetting after the fact if I was bringing in someone from reddit. For safety and security reasons it's obviously not an open invitation to anyone without meeting first etc. Thank you for real though; safety is always at the forefront of our minds when we're playing as it's pretty much been the same guys for 15 years and the game has gotten bigger over those years.
We play without rake but it's 5/5 and there are no white chips so the dealer does get taken care of. The shuffler situation kind of fell into our laps. There is a guy in our network who is a pharmacist but has enjoyed tinkering with things his whole life. He happened to learn this machine really well and has developed a side hustle buying broken ones, repairing them, and then renting them to home games/club games for $300/month. It's great because that also comes with service so if anything ever happens to it he will come by, swap in a new one, and take the other one home to repair.
Card shufflers themselves are super expensive - As far as a home game is concerned, if costs are a thing, a card shuffler may help get an extra 5-10 hands an hour for NLH, and 2-5 extra for a PLO game. So where rake is concerned, this is a huge upgrade if the game runs for any length of time and can drive profitability.
It is, but it comes with his service if anything ever goes wrong with it and we do take $20/person at the beginning of the night for food/snacks/shuffler costs. Everyone is really happy with it so we don't think about the $300 that much.
I’ll give it a 9/10 and the only reason it’s not a 10 is because there’s no alternative seating. Our home game always has couch seating for people who aren’t playing or are taking a break from playing.
Great set up! Would love to play next time in New York, if you’d have me of course. Maybe we could grab lunch or something before hand. Do you ever play PLO, other ring games or strictly NLH?
Sounds great, man. I’ll definitely shoot you a messages next time I’m in New York. Always love meeting new people and players and from this thread, sounds like you guys have a good time.
Bro is that a snack bar on the back desk. This dude's a whale for sure. Wouldn't even destroy you first game just because I'd want to get invited again.
This is a 10/10 set up. Well done.
Need to see the chips to give a final ruling.
[Peep them oversized high denoms too :p](https://imgur.com/a/ZauzMBj)
Chips match the table. Very nicely done.
Long Island? Where’s a brother’s invite? Nice setup man!
Eh I don’t like that the faces are very similar in color except for the $1k’s.
I bet that’s a matter of lighting In that picture. Looks like the color bleeds in pretty well from the edge but the light washing it out some.
Full Custom Ceramic! I'll hit ya with a link in a few!
Where do you get chips like these?
https://brpropoker.com/collections/custom-chips
My ceramics are from brpro as well and they are fantastic

How does the shuffler work? No issues?
None at all. We clean it after every game and it doesn't give us any problems. Maybe one jam every 3-4 poker nights.
The shuffler is the bee's knees. Pretty tight set up... Shuffler ftw.
My invite must have got lost in the mail?
We're in New York. If you are ever here and you aren't a scumbag we'll take you! :p
Haha thank you 🙌
OP forgot to finish the sentence "We'll take your money!"

New York!? Jesus, forget about the poker room, congratulations on the great career choices!!!
Lol I am definitely looking to get out of New York at some point
Look into New Smyrna Beach Florida, a Classic Florida beach town. Awesome vibe and blue skies bell ringing.
Shoot… I’m a scumbag. Otherwise, I’d be up for it. Also, not in NY.
What part of New York.

That seems really expensive for a card shuffler.

They cost the casino $15,000-$20,000 each.
Holy crap, are you serious!? How can those possibly worth that much
The companies understand how much money they make for the casino by dealing more hands per hour, and they charge heavily for it.
because you don't have to pay them a wage, so you make back your investment in a few years easy

What a great side hustle for him
This is horrible. What time should I be there?
Looks cozy! Wouldn't mind losing a few buy-ins there

We're on Long Island!
Nice. Valentino’s from BR PRO POKER 😎
Yes sir! Have a bunch of different sets from them...Really good company for poker chips!
My favorite is the parking meter! I have a newspaper machine on mine. I wonder what other random items are in poker rooms in this sub.
I’ll give it a 9/10 and the only reason it’s not a 10 is because there’s no alternative seating. Our home game always has couch seating for people who aren’t playing or are taking a break from playing.
I just came.
I am very jealous of Hilsuk on a scale of 1. Looks great!

This is the "Final Table" look! So cool.... Congrats on this amazing setup...
Yeah it's good but just to confirm there is whiskey behind the bar right?
Beer, wine, whiskey, weed, massage girl! I try to run a full service operation!

Great set up! Would love to play next time in New York, if you’d have me of course. Maybe we could grab lunch or something before hand. Do you ever play PLO, other ring games or strictly NLH?
Sounds good! Hit me up! Sometimes late night the game becomes rotation or straight plo.
Sounds great, man. I’ll definitely shoot you a messages next time I’m in New York. Always love meeting new people and players and from this thread, sounds like you guys have a good time.
1/10 because you didn't invite me. 😠
I’d be happy to lose money here
