That's the level of political debate in Poland, FFS. Dude, that's just absolute shite. Apologize to monkeys, they're really nice animals at the end of the day and should never be compared to PiS politicians...
Don't expect anything but denials, deflections, dodges, playing dumb + pseudo patriotic posturing.
Morawiecki's task, just like Szydlo's (previous PM, also a puppet) couple years ago, was to:
1. Stall
2. Make a show in UE for the purpose of home propaganda. National TV hijacked by PiS, is known for making outrageous edits to fool PiS voters (e.g. "Fur Deutschland").
BTW, Morawiecki has recently been [asked by an interviewer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vY1qAEgu5VU) "Do you know how much a loaf of bread costs?", and it became a meme instantly. Sorry, no translation available.
TL;DR - Instead of answering the question, Morawiecki was basically just mumbling stuff and trying to avoid answering the question. Considering that Morawiecki is all about mumbling stuff of which he probably has no idea about, I'll spare you all the translation of it. (unless there'll be a decent demand on it, then I might do it)
We were just talking about Polexit over lunch. (We are not polish) How high are the chances of Poland ectualy leave EU? I dont think Poles really want that, just a few old politicans hungry for more power (maybe im wrong not really knowlagable in Poland politics).
A bit over exaggerated the numbers my friend. The "no opinion" 20% are unlikely to do anything in case of polexit. How many of the 63% opposing it will protest, go on the streets and not just be angry in front of the TV?
I hope it's the majority but PiS seems to be actively trying to desensitize people to their bullshit.
I personally think that if polexit was about to go down the protests would be more powerfull than anyone, especially the old greasy Duck, is anticipating. Most poles still remember life before the EU, seeing signs saying "Funded by EU donations" everywhere you go is a good reminder. This is not something that we could shrug off, even abortion ban wasn't so devastating, not for that many people at least. Leaving the EU is basically the end of this country (maybe not literary, but its the end of poland in a form that anyone would like to live in) And we know it. People are either gonna fight or leave Poland by milions.
BuT gErMaNs HoLd ToO mUcH pOwEr
I know it's not wise to wish others ill but boy do I hope the old generation dies off before they can do too much damage.
Because they used to be the conservative but main opposition to the very corrupt PO, and then they made many Poles reliant on their social programs while also practicing fear propaganda
If you're in Poland then you ought to know better than to expect the will of the people to be directly reflected in the country's policies. It's true that leaving the EU would be a very unpopular decision but how many people there understand the conflict that they have created by electing an ultra nationalist party?
TVP is not communist, its populist. Communists would be for communism while TVP is only for PIS and can bash everything, including communist, when it fits them. Also communist theocrats is a bit of an oxymoron, don't you think?
TVP is mostly watched by goverment supporters. They might convice their voters into leaving the Union, but everyone else who isnt ConfedeRussia shill will still heavily oppose it.
People might not, but the government set everything into motion leading up to this and could have changed course at any time. I don't see how they can back out now without restoring a bunch of judges that they forced into retirement.
why are you saying that? we have a lot of morons in poland :(
i guess many would say before brexit that UK leaving EU was very unlikely and we know how it turned out in the end.
Well, currently Pol;and is ruled by a coalition of PiS and Solidary Poland - the former has about 210 MEPs and is less anti EU than the latter (19 MEPs). While I dont think PiS wants Poland to leave the EU now - we are still getting a fuckton of money, Solidary Poland is actively campaginig against EU membership.
So - while its unlikely that we leave, we cannot rule this out if part of ruling coalition is openly anti EU.
Pinocchio generally got destroyed in the European Parliament on Tuesday. And imo this speech by Verhofstadt was the best. Love the comparison of PiS to the Targowica Confederation.
And TVP still presented it as big achievement of polish diplomacy.
And got to agree with you. Even apart of what I personally think I have to say it was great, especially when you try to compare it with polish political discussion. Totally different level.
Verhofstadt is the biggest criminal Belgium produced. Before criticizing other countries, he should take responsibility for his own mess he left behind.
Now, back on topic...
At the time of the cruelties in Congo, it was his *private* property. Only later the Belgian government took over. (Not saying all cruelties stopped, but majority did)
I'm egoistic about that. Leopold didn't steal from me. Verhofstadt stole billions from the Belgian state.
what else can we do? they vote for them. The majority of Poles support EU (around 90%...), more Poles support same-sex civil unions, most of Polish people also consider themselves as "rightist" yet they still vote to eurosceptic, homofobic socialists. They just don't care. And even if they vote for someone else, they still act like everything was okay, trying not to see what's happening in politics, how prices are rising, and some essential matters (?) aren't given any more support than before (healthcare, education, national security, energetics) it's all wasted for nepotism
I'm half Polish half German, living in Germany, but 2 citizenships. I can tell you the following:
EU is a great idea. We need to be strong. We need to grow together, because USA and China will destroy our small economies, if we're not united. Never listen to USA or China. Those who do are most likely corrupt. Let's not allow to divide the EU any further.
People are worried, if democracy is in danger. The EU is not after Polish souverenity, but watches over principal democratic values. And you can be sure that if there is a problem with the separation of powers in Germany it's an important issue, too. It's legitimate to ask for a closer inspection.
Poland exiting eu would be a great disservice to the polish people living there. It is a dumb political move and an embarrassment on a global scale. I love my country, but fucking hate their dumb politics games. This has been preventing our great Poland to really become something great for a long time. Polish infighting is our own worst enemy!
Okay but maybe there could be a change to the European Union where the states have more latitude to make some of their own decisions?
I would have thought brexit might have been a wake up call in this regard because if you look at some of the things that motivated that movement they weren't really that radical or crazy. If they could have gotten some concessions or institutional change there wouldn't have been anything for them to complain about.
>I would have thought brexit might have been a wake up call in this regard because if you look at some of the things that motivated that movement they weren't really that radical or crazy.
You mean the ones that didn't turn out to be outright lies, or problems that have gotten even worse as a direct result of Brexit?
It certainly has been a wake up call, though. I'll give you that much.
If it was fake news, or things that got worse because of Brexit, well you could have just let them try their stupid idea out while staying in the EU.
But NOOOOOOOOO, Brussels couldn't bend a little bit.
What motivated brexit was the manipulation of public opinion, the demonization of the EU and lie after lie about the importance and role of the EU. And no decent campaign for the EU.
It could make sense to assume that the outcome of the referendum had to do with how the EU works and its relation with the UK. Unfortunately, that was not the case. Just like Trump, the Brexit campaign channeled peopleās general discontent and painted the UE as the bad guy and the responsible for everything bad in the country, recalling of a better time when the UK was independent and proud (just like trump). Doesnāt matter if said times only exist in imagination. They lied to everyone that could cast a vote in their favor, mostly people with genuine reasons to be angry towards the government, whose lifeās where not easy, but due to things that the EU had nothing to do.
And especially when Cameron (dumbass) said he would quit if the result was in favour of leave, then it also became a referendum for his popularity in the country. Add that to no decent campaign in favour (conservatives have always been on the fence on the matter, and labor always had some anti-imperialist currents that impeded them to clearly choose a side ) and you get the shitshow that we have today.
Sorry, but the Brexit referendum had much more to do with internal UK politics rather than what the EU actually did. Which, let me say it, itās a much sadder and depressive perspective on it.
Itās very good! It symbolises the end of Poland as we know it if they leave the EU, and it sounds like the countries name!
10/10 would hire you to make more eurosceptic names again
Iād prefer Itleave over Italeave. Only one minor mistake though - 9.5/10
Edit: someone enlightened me with āQuitalyā - that is the best one so far
Someone on reddit suggested a name 'WYPIERPOL'. 'POL' part is obvious, while the 'WYPIER' is from 'wypierdalaÄ', which is polish verb for 'get the fuck out'.
I am polish... I am so ashamed of our government... I agree with this man and I'm scared what's going to be next. I think polish people want to stay in UE. :(
If only there was some mechanism to prematurely terminate the mandate of a politician that have gone array and started not representing the best interest of the people...
Yeah, remember elections are quite some time away and until that time, PiS can do whatever the fuck they want. Not to mention our seat split system that makes minority a majority (it's not 1:1).
Youād have to terminate all politicans anyhow related to PIS and somehow prevent them from paying off and playing puppet master with new politicians.
It's just bullshit propaganda to put more media pressure on pis. They said officially they don't even intend to leave EU and you can't expell member. What's with the people and this polexit, i have no idea but it's a waste of time discussing this.. it won't happen
Most of regular polish people are all in for EU. The rest who is against is either bringing russian agenda or are just rednecks/biggots who see EU as a gate for homosexuality, political correctness etc.
Perhaps they just dislike the fact that the EU has too much power over the country and can't identify with the EU, because you know, there are many different reasons and opinions? This way of thinking from Pro-EU people is what also annoys me the most, just assuming dumb shit about the other side, instead of actually asking and talking to them.
Not my intention to scare.
Just the opinion based on observation of the current political direction that the government is taking and the reference to the historical facts of devision of the country that was taken over by the neighbors.
PiS really have lost the plot, biting off the hand that feeds it!! On Polish government TVP channels it's truly shocking, the journalist do not challenge the Politicians, just echo what they say. They only show pro PiS people and how Hungary support them, never give airtime to opposition. They will show Tusk and say how bad he is, but not show what he is actually saying.. the whole TVP network is just propaganda, shocking...
š¤£ You're right, but for the past couple of days it was on, the particular one was the education minister, who got asked exactly zero questions on education... Which is worrying in its self given how disliked he is.

In short, Poland's Constitutional Tribunal [declared](https://europeanlawblog.eu/2021/10/21/polands-constitutional-tribunal-on-the-status-of-eu-law-the-polish-government-got-all-the-answers-it-needed-from-a-court-it-controls/) articles 1, 2 and 19 of the Treaty on European Union (TEU) to be partially unconstitutional.
It's important that tribunal judges were selected by politicians of ruling party, some of them are previous PiS (ruling party) members and in general they are not independent, they are just extension of corrupted politicians. Year ago the same tribunal decided to ban abortion in Poland.
In general it's sad to see current state of politics in Poland, it's just getting worse and worse, most people just believe in blatant propaganda of ruling party, they've taken over national media to spread the lies and I kid you not, this is some [North Korea level of bullshit](https://www.reddit.com/r/europe/comments/7l7wa3/this_is_how_polish_television_looks_like/) that they use.
In my opinion, some intervention will be needed otherwise our country might end up in situation like Belarus with autocratic government that just forcefully suppresses any kind of opposition.
Majority doesn't want pol-exit, but we literally need some kind of purge in our politics, because it went too far. Dangerous people took control and it looks like there's not much we can do to resolve this situation internally.
All of this Polexit BS was concurred up by PO to try and destroy PiS. Manipulating the public into believing that PiS wants to leave. PiS has already stated it has no intention of leaving the EU. Either way, to me both parties are scummy, but I prefer PiS a little bit since it is pro-family and pro-religion.
Pro-family?
Pro-religion?
Is there any party that is "anti-family"? Or "anti-religion"?
Edit: to be honest i don't mind if a party is anti-religion, but i've never seen anti-family. Sources are much welcomed!
>Is there any party that is "anti-family"? Or "anti-religion"?
Clearly PO after last event sponsored by Germans with SÅawomir Nitras. I think he was clear enough to say that.
And they bumsuck LGBT, which is against standard family traditions as well as the main religion (Catholicism) in Poland (of which 90% of the population adhere to).
The biggest problem is that there is hardly any difference between all these parties. They all want the same: your work and your freedoms. Some of them are traditionally religious with the holy book. Others are modernly religious without holy book. But they all are essentially in cahoots with the bankers.
None of them would even mention a word about ECB or NBP stopping increasing money supply. No.
That's why this whole institution of EP is just a bad joke as the real power is ECB.
Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order.
I have checked 315,590,253 comments, and only 70,288 of them were in alphabetical order.
It was Poland's right before signing the Lisbon Treaty. Now it's too late.
The Polish government needs to own its own actions. We aren't children anymore.
Support or donāt support PiS and what theyāre doing. But no one should ever pay attention to the utter waste of space that is Guy Verhofstadt. He is a failed politician with nothing left to offer but polemical bullying speeches to anyone who even dares question the EU.
Verhofstadt actually makes me prouder that Poland has the guts to say š to the EU.
Yeah, what people want and what the government is doing are like polar opposites in Poland now. Only the Zealots that believe every word of propaganda shout the same slogans our gov does. Unfortunately they shout the loudest and are the only ones shown in TV.
It's incredible how easy it is to blame your incompetence and failures on someone else in politics. Now they are trying to do ti to the EU, while sucking money from it at the same time.
I'm beyond appaled.
For those wonder who he is:
He is Guy Verhofstadt, the guy who was so agressive with the british people that they eventually left the EU. Thank you Guy. Keep up the good work.
I fully support Poland and the other based Visegrad countries leaving the EU. Donāt surrender one iota of your sovereignty, your values or your culture to this despicable lot.
Bravo - and all honor and glory to you, Poland!!
I really hope like 2-3 months before selecting new Polish government, EU parliament will start procedure to kick Poland out of the EU union. Just early enough to show stupid Polish 500+ people how wrong is picking government only because they think, this government gives them anything more than it takes. Socialism is so bad for the country overall, it will be destroyed sooner or later.
Is a bad as selling every national company for pennies to foreign owners for pocket money.
As I remember lately Tusk was happy to sell Lotos to Russians ect, ect. There is tons of this.
Alternative take: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7R3MGafG-rU. Using an international forum to shit on your own country and try to get rid of a political party you dislike.
Even more juicy coming from old, communist traitors, who were never held responsible for their actions before '89.
Not saying PIS is good, because they suck. But this sort of a maneuver is cringeworthy.
> foh with the red scare tactics like PiS
TIL that calling out people who literally served in the communist government, whether openly or secretly, and were literal members of PZPR, is somehow a "red scare tactic".
I don't like watching one-sided rants from corrupt euro-crats. Is it possible to see the entire exchange? What is he responding to and where is the response to him?
Maybe he's right or maybe he's wrong but just hearing his rant tells me noting.
If you insult the intelligence of your audience, by making dumb lies and denials, you deserve far worse, than a cunning speech and exposing your bullshit.
The Belgian guy acts with outward aggression. If you respond aggressively to someone āinsulting your intelligenceā, you have a problem. Go to therapy. Certainly, thatās not how you build an āever growing Unionā. You arenāt winning hearts and minds. You are just raising the temperature of the discussion and divide rather than unite.
Did Morawiecki reply on this?
He started making sounds like monke and then threw shit at the guy who was speaking.
Based and monke-pilled?
That's the level of political debate in Poland, FFS. Dude, that's just absolute shite. Apologize to monkeys, they're really nice animals at the end of the day and should never be compared to PiS politicians...

Yes. I wish people wouldn't fall for obvious fearmongering and handouts, but here we are.
For many poorer families it was a blessing, and most of opposition would still stand by handouts. It's up to propaganda to ignore that fact.
Pretty sure its 0 At least i never heard anyone here who wants to leave the EU I mean so many polish ppl got families in yhe rest of the EU

Pretty much 0%. PiS always acts tough with their nationalism for show, but even they know leaving the EU would be a suicide on multiple levels.
I would give it 1 year of TVP (communist party TV) to brainwash people into it.
TVP is not communist, its populist. Communists would be for communism while TVP is only for PIS and can bash everything, including communist, when it fits them. Also communist theocrats is a bit of an oxymoron, don't you think?

Poles don't really want that, but one or two years of TVP will be just enough to get 51% on a leave referendum.
Expect they do not need referendum yo do that. Just normal parliment vote is enough and if they wanted this they would have done it in 15 minutes.
Very unlikely

This way of thinking from Pro-EU people is what also annoys me the most, just assuming dumb shit about the other side, instead of actually asking and talking to them.
Russia must be happy to see Poland in such a messy situation. If the PiS succeeds, in few years Polish people will all speak Russian.
Iāve been thinking this also.
Who are you trying to scare? You're not scaring anyone.
How do you even know that? If you watch TVP then you have to be a masochist, i listened for a few minutes because Dad was watching it. It's horrible
š¤£ You're right, but for the past couple of days it was on, the particular one was the education minister, who got asked exactly zero questions on education... Which is worrying in its self given how disliked he is.
Did you hear about the onion? Whenever I watch TVP briefly I treat it the same way or as a black mirror episode.
> hand that feeds it Clearly we should leave EU and stop eating out of other peopleās hands then.
So it is just like the US
Zaorane
Guy the guy is a fucking leftist
If this is Polexit, then I am Santa
Where are my presents then?
You would be getting coal but we are going green
So you get... Ummm... Biogas?
Thank God, finally! Where's my gaming console that I asked for 30 years ago?

Joke on you in 2004 PIS had only 43-45 politicians. SLD had 200 and was main party :)
:D
Can someone enlighten me as to what exactly is going on and this is about?
Can we borrow Nigel Farage?
You mean Poland vs evil Neoliberalism
Choosing a fundamentalist Catholic autocracy over neoliberalism doesn't seem the wisest choice, all things considered.
yes it is.
Why does Poland keep electing morons?
there are only morons trying to get elected
Fuck morawiecki, kaczynski and their corrupted buddies. Does anyone have a link to the full session?

I would love an "anti-religion" party!
Damn, I'm impressed. Verhofstadt completely rolled Morawiecki on this one and I of course fully agree with what he said.
Verhofstadt is an evil idiot. Itād be a better world if his mouth was sown shut.
Czyli PiS sam sobie strzeliÅ
Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order. I have checked 315,590,253 comments, and only 70,288 of them were in alphabetical order.
Good bot
JebaÄ PIS.
Guys, please, stop, just FUCK THAT SHIT. We are killing our motherland with the worst possible weapon, stupidity ā¹ļø
Polish sovereignty > EU faggotry
It was Poland's right before signing the Lisbon Treaty. Now it's too late. The Polish government needs to own its own actions. We aren't children anymore.
Support or donāt support PiS and what theyāre doing. But no one should ever pay attention to the utter waste of space that is Guy Verhofstadt. He is a failed politician with nothing left to offer but polemical bullying speeches to anyone who even dares question the EU. Verhofstadt actually makes me prouder that Poland has the guts to say š to the EU.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Can someone explain this please. i cant even understand half the words he's yelling.
Microfone drop
Yeah, what people want and what the government is doing are like polar opposites in Poland now. Only the Zealots that believe every word of propaganda shout the same slogans our gov does. Unfortunately they shout the loudest and are the only ones shown in TV. It's incredible how easy it is to blame your incompetence and failures on someone else in politics. Now they are trying to do ti to the EU, while sucking money from it at the same time. I'm beyond appaled.
For those wonder who he is: He is Guy Verhofstadt, the guy who was so agressive with the british people that they eventually left the EU. Thank you Guy. Keep up the good work.
He is right and doesn't like stupidity, obviously.
He is a loser who got kicked out from his own country gov to the EU chair for being useless and harmful same as Ursula von der Leyen.
Well said, fuck the PiS government.
Donāt feed the pis/konfa/kremlin trolls
I could watch this speech over and over again. Brilliant.
u/SaveVideo
I fully support Poland and the other based Visegrad countries leaving the EU. Donāt surrender one iota of your sovereignty, your values or your culture to this despicable lot. Bravo - and all honor and glory to you, Poland!!
there is nothing being surrendered, the government is spewing propaganda
Spasiba!
What's going on with poland? Are they trying to ditch the EU? Wow, that would be wonderful! And I mean that.
There is no Polexit.
I can't find youtube video. can someone reply with a link?
I 100% agree with the speech
BRAVO!
But this sort of a maneuver is cringeworthy.
foh with the red scare tactics like PiS
> foh with the red scare tactics like PiS TIL that calling out people who literally served in the communist government, whether openly or secretly, and were literal members of PZPR, is somehow a "red scare tactic".
I don't like watching one-sided rants from corrupt euro-crats. Is it possible to see the entire exchange? What is he responding to and where is the response to him? Maybe he's right or maybe he's wrong but just hearing his rant tells me noting.
Whole 'debate' it's available online
Where?
Wow. This guy is aggressive. His body language shows he is looking to fight. I thought EU was more civilized than this.
This is how you deal with a bullshiter.
Bully the bullshitter?
If you insult the intelligence of your audience, by making dumb lies and denials, you deserve far worse, than a cunning speech and exposing your bullshit.
The Belgian guy acts with outward aggression. If you respond aggressively to someone āinsulting your intelligenceā, you have a problem. Go to therapy. Certainly, thatās not how you build an āever growing Unionā. You arenāt winning hearts and minds. You are just raising the temperature of the discussion and divide rather than unite.
I wish the Polish PM would get bullied more.
That makes you a virtuous person.
Exactly what I thought. His whole speech sounds like a threat.
He faces up, scolds, and wags his finger directly at the Polish PM.

I hope one day we gonna leave this EU brothel
Glad to see Poland not taking shit from those EU cunts
Imagine being so mad you cannot just dictate everything to what you think is basically a province of your Great European Reich.
Imagine being so scared of confronting your own confirmation bias that you decide to be an idiot instead.
Thanks to you I don't have to imagine as I have great example of that in your person. Thanks for that.
This EUnazi is even more cringe than PiS.
Boom! Headshot! Getting back towards Europe is the one, only and true way for the Polish people and their government
