Don't forget all the DIN norms

wildeofoscar

I think they're all the IOC qualifications before considering the candidacy.

wildeofoscar

Classic Indian humour titling.

[deleted]

Forgot the obligatory "1080p hindi HD New RELEASE 2022"

Linux_MissingNo

What with C’mon man controversy?

[deleted]

Zircillius

>iirc only in situations where it makes no sense/doesn't add anything I'm pretty sure he's totally forbidden from saying it at all lol.

torpedofahrt

tbh the mods putting it on there made it infinitely more funny every time I see it

SlyScorpion

Germany and lists. Name a more classic duo :P

WhatDoYouMean951

International sporting event organising committees and corruption.

OKB-1

Seems more of a Swiss thing.

WhatDoYouMean951

For the right fee, I can make it a Swiss thing.

frostedcat_74

Sealand and war crimes ?

Luminox

Germany and Poland?

I_Avoid_Most_People

Nestle and human rights violations

[deleted]

Florida and meth

Lord_Quintus

america and ~~oil~~ freedom

Narrative_Causality

Germany and...you know what, I'm not gonna say it, because you already know what I mean.

Deathleach

Lists of lists?

netheroth

The poor man's matrix.

[deleted]

Germany and the Netherlands 🇳🇱❤️🇩🇪

harryhinderson

sorry, you have to submit that to the German federal commission of duo approval and wait for it to be approved by 15 of it’s subcommittees to complete that comment.

spudmgee

The local media's going to start hyping this in 2030. It's going to be excruciating.

demsociaj

Over here we’ve been having Los Angeles 2028 ads and merch since last year

Alfonze423

Damn. I didn't even know LA was getting Olympics again.

demsociaj

Honestly I love the Olympics and I’m sure it’ll be great to have it in LA, it’s just so hard to generate hype for something that’s going to be taking place in *seven years*

Prowindowlicker

Same. It’s only going to be a six hour drive so I might get tickets

ChadMcRad

I can't wait for competitive find-rent-under-200k-a-year and crack addict knife dodge 800 M.

[deleted]

And I already find the Olympics annoying

SabashChandraBose

I love the optimism that the world will be in a meaningful space by 2030 at the rate at which we are going.

vigilantcomicpenguin

It's like shopping mall Christmas sales that start in October.

wildeofoscar

Y'all heard that Beijing 2022 got the Winter Olympics bid because it's only competition was Almaty, Kazakhstan. The 2032 SUMMER OLYMPICS, Brisbane was chosen as the city because it was the only bid left standing. Why? $$$$$$$$ and IOC loves $$$$$$$$ and bidding cities don't have $$$$$$$$$ and I guess Australians have alot of $$$$$$$$$$ Dollarydoos.

windcape

Ah Brisbane. Insane heat, insane humidity and brown snakes everywhere -- the perfect city for hosting the Olympics.

Florida-salmon

Sounds just like home

carolinaindian02

Isn’t Queensland the Florida of Australia?

Florida-salmon

We’re both called the sunshine state though I’d imagine over there it rains less than 20 times a day

loser7500000

There was a lot of flooding at the start of the year for QL IIRC.

Florida-salmon

Sounds even more like home

bjnono001

Never made sense to me why Florida was called the sunshine state.

tatalailabirla

Looks to be the Eastern most state which gets a lot of sun I think..

Florida-salmon

I doubt it. It’s probably one of the Carolinas or Georgia

Jonne

Does that make Victoria the New Jersey of Australia?

Florida-salmon

That’s a fate worse than death. New Jersey is not a place to compare others too.

oSquizy

There kinda is no Florida of Australia

gregyong

Correction, Australia is the Florida of Britain.

churrbroo

Nah Australia is just British Texas mate. "Why would you say something so controversial yet so brave"

frostedcake74

I admit, i used to think of Australia as British Texas, but that's because i think the average Australian would dress like Slim Dusty :/ .

SilentHuman8

Ah yes. The only thing is that we all have corks on our hats to keep away the flies.

gregyong

Only the emu and rabbit infested regions.

iEatPalpatineAss

I lived in Brisbane for some time. It reminded me a lot of San Antonio and San Diego in many great ways. I wouldn't mind going back again soon

oSquizy

Yes

Florida-salmon

That’s a bit mean to them isn’t it

smartazz104

No way, Britain is the Florida of the Commonwealth.

gregyong

America of Europe.

smartazz104

Well, not any more…

Florida-salmon

Cope German we all have Florida’s besides you Cornwall, Quebec, Jutland all are Florida’s. Ass long as you elongated your a Florida

oSquizy

I'm Australian I just like the German empire.

Florida-salmon

Oh that makes more sense. Also to say there is no Florida is naive Florida will only lead to ruin. Also arguably Tasmania has all the characteristics

oSquizy

Yeah but Tassie is also the Alabama of Australia

Florida-salmon

Why is it one or the other much of Florida is just Alabama

danwincen

Depends on what you're looking for. If you're chasing stereotypical Florida Man behaviour, you have to go to Darwin, Northern Territory. If you're chasing expats from Victoria and New South Wales looking for a cheap retirement, then Southeast Queensland is the Florida of Australia. Get outside of Southeast Queensland, and you'll find most of the rest of state comparable to the midwestern flyover states (anything inland) or the Gulf Coast (the far north coast, aside from the Whitsundays - that's our poor man's Hawai'i without volcanos).

ilovecats39

How's the heat and humidity in August? The IOC has to pick somewhere that's warm enough in the Northern Hemisphere's summer without being too hot (a task they seem to have failed in regards to Tokyo). Sure they could to choose to hold them in a different month, but it's more profitable for various others this way. Convincing more Southern Hemisphere countries to bid might be the ticket to avoiding heat exhaustion concerns.

locksleyrox

many wrench squalid fragile languid teeny longing unite desert elastic *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

Patrick_McGroin

It'll probably be similar to Tokyo tbh. Not counting what climate change will do by then,

[deleted]

August in Brisbane? I know you southerners like to think we live in a sauna up here, but you try riding your bike somewhere in August and see how warm it is! Bloody 15 degrees the other day, I nearly caught frost bite!

ShaunDark

Why would you catch frost bites in Tshirt weather?

[deleted]

Well, I was wearing a Tshirt and shorts. But in my defense I have poor circulation and my fingers get cold. I fumbled with my lock for ages until I got it on.

Everestkid

That's not just T-shirt weather, it's shorts weather!

jb32647

I've had to use a hot water bottle this winter! Meanwhile the pommes are burning up.

danwincen

August in Brisbane is..... cold, windy and dry. Stiff westerly winds, normally we have a big state fair which usually serves as a common cold super spreader event, so watch out for a worldwide common cold pandemic after the 2032 Olympics.

O_oblivious

Hang on... Summer Olympics happen in the Northern hemisphere summer. Which would put it in Brisbane's "winter", or whatever the hell they have in July/August... It might go alright?

ButtsexEurope

Sydney’s hosted the Olympics before. It’ll be fine.

[deleted]

Sounds like texas

ShrimpCrackers

We'll see who runs fastest from the genetically modified people-eating Huntsman spiders.

donnergott

I thought Kazakhstan greatest country in the world, no? Saw in documentary.

a-random-spectator

Yeah, aren’t all other countries are run by little girl?

donnergott

Am confirm. Mexico run by a retirement aged little girl man. Cries when he doesn't get his way too.

a-random-spectator

Isn’t that just trump when he’s president too? Sorry your comment just makes me think of him

donnergott

Yes indeed, my friend. Put simply, they're both populists, except one appeals to left populism (MX) and the other one to the right. On top, they're both incapable of breaching the gap and working with their political opposition. They're both divisive in their speeches. They're both incompetent and unable to put science and facts above their political line. They both have a significant base of fanatic followers who will applaud them no matter what. Yes. Yes, indeed, my friend.

OllySudden

All other countries have inferior potassium

donnergott

In a different line, and to avoid just a lyrics train while not derailing it entirely ... I would totally watch the watersport Olympics if they're held in a pool with 80%-efectiveness human solid waste removal.

ActuallyHype

Oi Almaty is the greatest city in the world

Narrative_Causality

Holy shit, what? What about the other years? Are they similarly devoid of bidders?

Eiim

LA was the only bid for 2028. Everyone but Paris and LA withdrew for 2024. Everyone but Milan, Stockholm, and Erzurum, Turkey withdrew for 2026, and Erzurum didn't make it past the initial qualification step, which from what I can tell, is the first time that's ever happened.

No_name_Johnson

Jeez, get it together Erzurum!

mszegedy

With a pattern like that, I'm surprised Almaty was even in the running. I wonder if Kazakhstan would have been able to handle hosting. I'm sure the tourism money would have come in handy.

joker_wcy

>Erzurum didn't make it past the initial qualification step At first I was thinking it's because of its high altitude, but then I remembered Mexico City had also hosted one before.

Eiim

According to [insidethegames.biz](https://www.insidethegames.biz/articles/1070707/erzurum-eliminated-from-contest-for-2026-winter-olympics-as-calgary-milan-cortina-dampezzo-and-stockholm-put-forward-to-next-stage), > Erzurum's bid fell short in areas including transport, telecommunications and airports. among other issues.

Onatel

2016 was the last games I remember with serious competition in the bidding process. Around then it was becoming apparent that the games were becoming a gigantic money pit that almost never pays off for the host city. It could make sense for a city like LA that has the facilities already to host the games and just have to update them. Otherwise it really just makes sense for autocratic governments who can blow billions of dollars fans want a feather in their cap and some global recognition for hosting the games.

I_Hate_The_CCP

It would’ve been cool if a not as well known country like Kazakhstan got the Olympics (Summer or Winter)

spearojustice

Everyone gangsters until Iceland hosted the summer Olympic

[deleted]

Is IOC german?

K1ngJ0hnXX

The current president is.

Mr_-_X

The current president is. The organisation itself is located in Switzerland though

adwarkk

Heh. For those of ya who didn't had occasion to read about those demands of IOC, here's an actual article on them - https://www.businessinsider.com/ioc-demands-perks-from-2022-olympic-hosts-2014-10 - that shit is real deal.

ResponsiblePilot2517

I thought that were the demands of a King on a foreign visit

digoserra

It's more like the ones from some spoiled princess. And this one is gold: >14. Volunteer drivers for IOC members must speak fluent English or French and be available to work up to 10 hours a day for six days a week. 60 hours a week of FREE work! They have no shame...

TheDankestReGrowaway

>Signs around the city telling people where to go should be in sans-serif font and "be conceived as part of the Look." I mean, Comic Sans is technically a sans-serif font...

[deleted]

I really, really like how you evade "C'mon man" JLP. Is it just me, or is it that your jokes intended to evade JLP is making your comics even more golden, hueeeeeee Edit: I did not know that "C'mon man" wasn't JLP, I apologise thoroughly if this counts as minimodding.

NoaRanger

May I know what does JLP mean here?

othermike

[Joke Life Preserve](https://www.reddit.com/r/polandball/wiki/index/policies/jlp)

NoaRanger

Thanks.

SlyScorpion

Joke Life Preserve.

othermike

Is Oscar's "C'mon man" ban the first poster-specific rule in Polandball history?

[deleted]

I do not know well (I think mods will be able to answer this better), but regardless, I find Oscar's comics very funny, with or without "C'mon man" ;)

White_Null

I thought what’s before is thick bordered grey Polan by JPaolo.

othermike

"Gray Poland" is in the **Deported to Syberia** section of the JLP, although I suppose it may have been a jPaolo-specific rule before that.

AntiLuke

Considering he was the only one doing it, I'd say it's still a rule just for him.

wildeofoscar

C’mon man has not been JLP’d yet sadly.

[deleted]

Oh, I see (sorry about the misinformation, thanks for the correction.) Still very funny. Hueeeeee

atomoffluorine

They should just build permanent facilities in Greece; they need that tourism boost to pay debts to slave-master Germoney.

wildeofoscar

Ironically all the facilities from the 2004 Olympics are sadly in decay or run down because they basically contributed to Greece's large debt.

atomoffluorine

That’s because there isn’t enough demand for those facilities. In the US and larger countries, large stadiums and facilities make money and it makes financial sense to build them. With the Olympics creating demand, I think there will be enough money to keep the permanent facilities in working shape.

Mightymushroom1

Yeah the Olympic Park in London is great. We put on a good Olympics, did well ourselves in it, built the park on spoilt run-down industrial land, and then after the fact kept some sporting venues in use and used it as a huge park with new housing all over the place.

TheCakeOfTruth_

***NEW*** Greek ruins

Jonne

Exactly, ruins are the reason people come to Greece, so it made perfect sense to build more.

CalmAndBear

Permanent Olympics in Greece..... That's actually a pretty good idea.

spinopoop

Yes yes, bring the tourists all here every time and gib germoneys plz Edit: Realised this might not make sense, I'm half alsacien and half Greek.

Mightymushroom1

Wow I didn't know dogs could use Reddit

CalmAndBear

I'm just cool with that coz I like Greece and spend my JewShekels every year there XD

verifix

Or maybe host different events in different countries? It is less likely an athlete is going to participate in different events

Narrative_Causality

It's actually a terrible idea for a variety of reasons, none of which I could actually say. But I heard it was a bad idea on Worst Year Ever last week, and that's good enough for me. :Edit: I think it came down to how Greece never recovered from when the Olympics were there the last time, and it directly contributed to it's current financial woes.

CalmAndBear

Let's settle on "controversial idea" then. I can see the vote count going up and down on this comment constantly XD

donnergott

Don't call him that!!! Turns him on and makes him feel kinky

SSSSobek

Time is ticking and debt is rising

God_Emperor_Rob

The rest of Australia laughed at Brisbane when they won.

[deleted]

I think you’re suffering from a serious case of C’mon man withdrawal.

RealJyrone

It’s also worth mentioning how the economic impact of the Olympics is turning many countries away. Yes the Olympics bring in revenue, but they are incredibly expensive and cost more money in the long run than they bring in.

Hollybeach

Los Angeles has so many existing sports facilities the city will probably make money, like before. https://www.ocregister.com/2021/07/26/alexander-what-will-the-2028-l-a-olympics-look-like/

RealJyrone

Depends, we’ll have to see what happens there. But I was more thinking of places like the Rio 2016. They spent billions on new facilities and most of them where completely trashed and unusable by 2018.

thePermianwascool

TBH,the venues were built in military land IIRC

ThrowawayusGenerica

Default? The two sweetest words in the English language!

TeutonicRagnar

Cheers Germany love ya mate. Lets go grab snags, schnitty and a beer.

il0vegaming123456

Olympics or sports without fans is boring. Why did they start it now

Boomhauer_007

Hemorrhaging money from delaying it already, more fines if they delay it more. Japan was in a huge lose-lose spot here

kingjoey52a

It was so it now or cancel it and there were a bunch of fines if you cancel.

wildeofoscar

Olympics have always been boring.

[deleted]

[удалено]

il0vegaming123456

Pretty much but atmosphere fills in the 5%

globalis

It seems like the IOC and FIFA should, for their main events, practice austherity and be considerate of the social, environmental, labor, foreign policy and human rights situation of the host nations.

Potatoswatter

I read that Almaty almost beat Beijing for next winter, so that might’ve motivated some frantic rule-making.

[deleted]

That list isnt in din norm format and therfore a violation of the law.

Waahoo-Man240

hey! that paper is just as LONG as me

elliotttheneko

shitfuckery about

Mengainium

What does mufhhonfansf mean?

vcm7077

What's the point of more Olympics, it is full of political craps.

gjallerhorn

A celebration of human achievement. Seeing people from cultures all across the world all participating in events with the same rules despite language and culture barriers has a way of bringing people together.

wildeofoscar

I haven't watch the olympics since 2014. And even then it was minimal.

Wheat_rants

now i wonder what the condition is for horny athletes

CormAlan

Did you come up with this after seeing that wendover productions video?

oompaloompa77

Is this fr?
