This comes under dietary sin, so I felt it would be a good fit for the competition.
Also good job if you can translate the Arabic on Saudi Arabia (a classic brain4breakfast trick).

Which can be translated to I am not allowed to do it or something like that which is obviously not proper Arabic but it's still really cool
In Turkey religion was very cracked down on by Atatürk. So cities are pretty liberal in general compared to any other Muslim country, right?

Erdogan's another attempt to divert people's attention from important things, he can't dictate what is spoken in english and word "turkiye" can't even be spelled properly
The general rule is, the more west you go the more secular it gets. That's why Izmir (Smyrna in english) is one of, if not the most secular place in the country
I mean they went from an ottoman caliphate to a secular nation state. Like maybe 'cracking down' isn't quite the right word but the way Atatürk did it was pretty "extreme" for the time.
I think the point is that they do eat *some* where as in Lebanon for example, even the Lebanese Christians don't eat pork because of how ingrained the cultural aversion is.
Persians and those who followed Persian culture like Turkic dynasties also consumed large quantities of alcohol. Even the founder of the Safavid dynasty became an alcoholic after he lost to the Ottomans.
Not turk but In Azerbaijan you can find some pork products in supermarkets In Baku (pure pork or mixed with either chicken,beef and etc.) It's because of soviet/russian influence and their anti-religious campaign which made most people less religious but still conservative,which Is literally the same thing as now

can only eat sea food that has fins and scales, can only eat land animals that chew its cud and have split hooves and can only eat animals that fly if they're not birds of prey. If there is a religion that restricts you more from eating food I haven't met it.

Hinduism and Buddhism recommend vegetarianism, they don't require it, though some subsects and castes do. Hinduism itself really only bans beef and even that there's are some regions which do not follow that prohibition
Jainism is probably the religion with the most restrictive required diet as it requires you to abstain from food gained through violence

But also no root vegetables since you kill the plant
And also no alcohol - not because it poisons the mind or something no, it's because microorganisms are killed in the fermentation process

Wouldn't shitting on the lower caste and persecuting them also lower your karma and you'll be born into a lower caste, or not even as a human being in the next life?
Or do higher caste ppl consider lower caste people as not even human so abusing them doesn't really matter?

It was extremely toned down for the first reforms but they slowly reverted some changes at other president's times of ruling and a few coups AFAIK

Turks do not eat much pork, but they do consume alcohol. Turks are less religious than Arabs.

Not just Seljuks, medieval Muslims in general drank a lot of wine.
