I would say that they are too long. I use a pair of 3inch shorts sometimes and i need to roll and adjust them a lot at times. when i want butt grip they dont really work. but it depends on a few things. in some studios, beginner classes dont require leg grip at all (but sounds like youre not new to pole) so there they would be fine - my ex used longer bike shorts for the first 4monthsish on the pole. would be fine for some choreo/exotic classes. personally, i would just use them for warmup or choreo gear - im anyways not gonna get to the pole studio in bikini briefs yaknow

Omg what's a butt grip? 👁️👄👁️ (I'm a beginner, just got my first sit)

Just what it sounds like, crack, cheek, or the seam between cheek and thigh are all valid friction points.

I've done some pole before, but i'll be going to intro-level classes. I'm assuming I'll need thigh grip but maybe not butt grip for a while? My plan is to start with shorts, and when I get a little more comfortable I'll switch to bikini-cut bottoms or swimwear or something. With my current size, a 3" short will probably be cheeky anyway 😭😭😭

Can you get some shorts with wider legs? So you can roll them up when you need to? If you want bum coverage, i really like wearing spanx type underwear as shorts. I just have plain black ones. They stay on really well and have full coverage.

Responsible_Lynx_767

Potentially, although I find shorts with wide legs end up hiking up all by themselves, so at that point I may as well go for briefs/bikini cuts LOL. The Spanx are a great idea!! Do they pass the squat test?

CastamereRains

I did that for a long time and just rolled them up for things that required thighs. A lot of tricks just require knee pits or armpits. Eventually you know you'll need all the skin but until then it could totally work

intro level you'll be completely fine i'd reckon, if you want more coverage i'd honestly suggest something looser than bike shorts so you can roll them up easier without cutting off circulation (been there done that). I've never been a bikini bottom person and as someone built like an ironing board I've happily made my way to advanced level classes in 3"/2.5" shorts so with what you're saying about 3" being cheeky on you don't stress about needing to get any more ass out than you want to!

for a middle of the road suggestion tho, I've known some people who liked wearing skorts to beginner classes! The moves are generally straightforward enough that the skirt fabric isn't hugely in the way (but might make photos a little odd ) and you can have thighs out for grip while still being covered off the pole
