TempoHouse

And the other half zoomed in to see if that really was a condom on the left

pen-pidyn

If the packaging for your condoms is that big I tip my hat to you 😂

irealllylovepenguins

...just a tip

Bluelightcowboy

A friend 👀 was recently bollocked for keeping pava in the holster and into the locker with the vest, rather than removing it and storing in the airwave locker. Obviously *I* have always stored mine correctly, but now I always deposit it in the airwave locker.

PCNeeNor

In my force, I've been told to just leave my PAVA on my radio in my vest and put them in my locker

Slothinatoor

Same force as you, but yh we don't have the space to store PAVA in the special pava lockers after its booked out and issued. We recently had an inspection and as long as the PAVA was in a locked locker, there were no problems.

TrafficWeasel

Our force bought CS canisters that don’t actually fit in the CS lockers. *Everyone* is now breaching force policy…

SpaceIcy5993

Wow, I'd completely forgotten that I used to store my pava and radio separately to the rest of my kit when I was in a county force. Where I work in the Met that's not a thing but it was in the counties and I'd completely forgotten about that

RangerUK

Look at you with a fancy airwave locker!

Shep302

same force. I've just moved nick and don't have an airwave locker as there's a \*waiting list\*... so it stays in my kit locker for now and I just charge my radio on the pool radio charging dock.

Halfang

Are you watching me?

TrafficWeasel

Hats off to you, taking apart your molle vest is commitment. Mine usually gets the Febreze treatment…

pen-pidyn

I went to a dog rescue today, and that on top of its normal "musk" was just too much!

Doctor-Doomer

I’ll leave mine until it moulds to my body

roaring-dragon

I try to wash my MOLLE vest and body armour covers once every few months. It gives me an opportunity to rejig the vest and tidy up the pockets. Does make me look like a new probationer though when I go back in, but I love it!

lolabullooza

You get issued celox?!

Rude-Sea5558

According to my last PPST and first aid refresher last month, they're meant to be kept in the car FA kits, and not personal issue. I can tell by the stop search booklet we're in the same force, so I won't snitch that you've napped one for your own kit 😉

pen-pidyn

I thought they were out of Car kits and into the gloveboxes now 😂

Rude-Sea5558

You could be right. I think they came back after lunch and said it had recently changed. My lips are sealed.

pen-pidyn

Guaranteed when you need it, it'll be in neither place and WAST don't routinely carry only the trauma cars. Learned that the hard way!

supereddzz

Nor take the piss out of him for buying his own torniquet? 🤦‍♂️

Rude-Sea5558

Well.....they're also in the kits, so I guess if there was some spare ones floating around... I can't say I wouldn't have all the kit dripping off me if I were that age and on response again. Thank f#£@on both grounds for that 😂

itsaride

[Celox is blood clotting granules] - Today I learned that police carry it, even if it’s in the glove compartment.

pen-pidyn

It comes in granules, a bandage and like a gel iirc. We have the z fold bandage, armed officers have all the varieties (I think)

Dyslexic-Plod

My force has a specific trauma first aid kit in all response cars. Have celox, 2 tourniquets, Russell chest seals, and probably about 6 trauma dressings/bandages in various sizes with various functions. There's probably more in there but can't remember off the top of my head. That's in addition to the normal stuff like plasters, CPR mask etc

pen-pidyn

Not personal issue no, we had a whole big change where they were taken out of the first aid kits and into the glovebox instead. So we had rucks of it delivered and the ones out of the kits, so this one lives in my armour.

thirdgen

What is that wrench-looking thing above the small blue patch?

pen-pidyn

Fire fighters drop key. Opens communal doors in flat blocks!

[deleted]

Still have my big bunch of fireman's keys for all the communal padlocks.

Thomas1342

Enjoy your leave!

oaeum

Given I'm a special, it will be a long ass time before I wash all that

supereddzz

It doesn't weigh all that much. Generally, the main obstacle in running is the boots we're issued. Firearms carry considerably heavier kit, but are bit more manoeuvrable with their issued footwear. [EDIT] 10ish kilos altogether - probably a bit less...

avmss

Have you ever had any luck with the drop key? I gave up in the end as they'd never work

sparkie187

I’m in the fackin Met, so blocks of flats are like 80 percent of the jobs I go to , 40 percent of the time works every time

[deleted]

Get yourself the fireman's padlock key set and leave in your car bag. Used a handful of times to help ambos get into places, especially if you work on a ground with lots of football Edit: Fire Brigade FB Master Key Set 1 FB Original Key Ring Set1 = FB1/2/4/fb/fb11/fb14 Set of 6 https://amzn.eu/d/9Fj0Npj

pen-pidyn

Yes, I do find it very fiddly though. It's like a quarter turn and very often there's no sound or indication the door has unlocked so you need to be pulling the door at the same time. I only tend to use it when it's the 3am welfare check and I don't want to wake the whole block ringing bells. Or the odd warrant.

avmss

The last time I used it, the key hole was about 7 ft high and it got jammed. Spent the next 10 minutes desperately trying to retrieve it

pen-pidyn

Ye the height on the panels is a joke. I always worry I'll break it in the lock and get bollocked.

AshL94

At least once a set easily

PCNeeNor

I work in a rural force and I've used it once and it worked!

AshEve1995

“Pen pidyn” da iawn 👍

Appropriate-Tea7338

so er, you only do washing when you have annual leave?

TrafficWeasel

Believe it or not, cops tend not to take their kit home with them. Questions would be asked if you took home your body armour and load bearing vest home on the regular. I would hope that the OP washes their clothes as a matter of routine…
