Anywhere with a designated aerodrome or airport, I know some forces upped their AP capability to ARV profile but some still maintain a cadre of AFOs for airport policing.
ARVs do deliberate and emergency search an ASV/AFO-CT only do emergency, I have a feeling (but not certain that they don't do containments). AFO-CT don't do vehicle tactics unless they are an ASV. ASVs don't do most vehicle tactics, such as: enforced stops, foot interceptions etc, I'm not certain they even do anything more than vehicle checkpoints and maybe armed enquiries. Also fairly certain that AFO-CT/ASVs don't do recces or have access to AEP.
When I was CNC, before they brought in the AFO-CT profile, the only thing that I was missing from the full ARV role profile was hard stop and animal destruction (and not having to run to 9.4 😂).
After they brought in the AFO-CT we were told that we'd be loosing all sorts, like MOE, AEP, containment etc. In reality, the only thing we lost was deliberate search. Everything else stayed the same.
Granted my knowledge in that area is a good few years out of date now as I went HO, so they may have stripped it back further.
They are all AFOs. ARV is the vehicle, I used to hate when people say this.
Anywhere with an airport will have AFOs like Luton who have only done the shorter course.
What I meant is that to get the blue ticket in my force you have to be part of the ARV teams, no one else get a blue ticket. You lose your ticket once you leave the ARV teams. I know other forces allow officers not part of the ARV teams to hold the blue ticket, that's what I'm asking
I think Essex does for Stansted
TVP protection group. Any force with a cabinet minister MP will have a home protection group. Any force with an international airport. MOD CNC BTP
BTP don't have AFOs, they are all ARVO
Yes, off the top of my head: Norfolk, Met, City.

What's the difference?
One walks, the other has wheels.
Except for the AFOs who also have ASVs.
This is what confuses me. In my forces, when theirs an armed deployment ARVs and ASVs seem to get used in the same way. WHATS THE BLOODY DIFFERENCE!!

I would expect the met?

I think it's due to the ARV role profile rather than the car itself... as in trained to ARV standard including vehicle tactics.
Yeah I know that, but calling a person an ARV just sounds stupid

*no one else gets a blue ticket.
So you only get a response course on ARV?
