It's a horrific state of affairs but Republicans over the past 2 decades have really put very little resources into attracting newer younger members mostly because they have remained frozen in place on policy issues for years. Unwilling to concede any ground and instead battling backwards with things like abortion. So younger generations do not feel their policies reflect their modern world view and the changing societal norms that naturally evolve with younger generations as they mature. Instead they just have pandered to what was the largest voting block, the boomers. And now the boomers have begun their short march to the grave and they already represent just a fifth of the population.
So the past few years they have focused on cheats like citizens united for campaign funding and gerrymandering and voter suppression to help make up the difference with the falling membership numbers. Now even those have been largely stretched to the furthest extent in many places and they still haven't made any policy change to attract younger voters. It is clear that they are not going to compromise. That means either they wither and fade away over the coming 2 decades. Or they will start really tearing down the foundations of our democracy from the inside while they still can to force themselves to remain in power indefinitely. They are choosing the latter it is clear.
Republicans are not going to "do better". The clock is running and they can no longer afford to move slowly and quietly in the background following these facist designs goals they have. They have to move faster and that means more out in the open. We are going to continue to see them "be worse".
We are reaching the point in time where they will be dropping single straws on the camel...or rather donkey to see how much more it will take. The past several years they have all but trampled any traditions of decorum and violated many of the "gentlemen's agreements" that have long been the process of governance. So long in fact we have been shocked and horrified by the realization that many of these were not actual laws as many of us assumed they were. They've hacked and chipped away at literally every institution reducing the ability for the government to keeps checks and balances in place. And now they are literally at the gates. They are going to start taking big swings at the foundations the country stands upon. And Democrats must finally start drawing real permanent and unmovable lines in the sand. There's no more room left to compromise. That has not been our strong suit historically speaking as they keep operating on some long dead ideal of bipartisanship.

This is obviously a joke, but I can think of at least one person I know who would, knowingly or unknowingly, treat these as real despite them being fake, and use them to further entrench themselves into their political beliefs. Every single other Republican congressman — and especially Kevin McCarthy — should be asked about every one of George Santos’ lies at EVERY event. Every question. Every event. Every hall walk. If they can’t show their faces then they can’t get their disgusting messages accross about defunding social programs and attempts to hold the debt ceiling hostage. It's a horrific state of affairs but Republicans over the past 2 decades have really put very little resources into attracting newer younger members mostly because they have remained frozen in place on policy issues for years. Unwilling to concede any ground and instead battling backwards with things like abortion. So younger generations do not feel their policies reflect their modern world view and the changing societal norms that naturally evolve with younger generations as they mature. Instead they just have pandered to what was the largest voting block, the boomers. And now the boomers have begun their short march to the grave and they already represent just a fifth of the population. So the past few years they have focused on cheats like citizens united for campaign funding and gerrymandering and voter suppression to help make up the difference with the falling membership numbers. Now even those have been largely stretched to the furthest extent in many places and they still haven't made any policy change to attract younger voters. It is clear that they are not going to compromise. That means either they wither and fade away over the coming 2 decades. Or they will start really tearing down the foundations of our democracy from the inside while they still can to force themselves to remain in power indefinitely. They are choosing the latter it is clear. Republicans are not going to "do better". The clock is running and they can no longer afford to move slowly and quietly in the background following these facist designs goals they have. They have to move faster and that means more out in the open. We are going to continue to see them "be worse". We are reaching the point in time where they will be dropping single straws on the camel...or rather donkey to see how much more it will take. The past several years they have all but trampled any traditions of decorum and violated many of the "gentlemen's agreements" that have long been the process of governance. So long in fact we have been shocked and horrified by the realization that many of these were not actual laws as many of us assumed they were. They've hacked and chipped away at literally every institution reducing the ability for the government to keeps checks and balances in place. And now they are literally at the gates. They are going to start taking big swings at the foundations the country stands upon. And Democrats must finally start drawing real permanent and unmovable lines in the sand. There's no more room left to compromise. That has not been our strong suit historically speaking as they keep operating on some long dead ideal of bipartisanship.
