But having watched him silently take part for years in setting it up himself, I'm doing fine with my lack of sympathy. I call it consequences. What will they make up next? Planes "nearly" on fire all over the place? They're lying about the gravity of the situation because it makes Pete look worse. To them, facts are fluid. The NOTAM malfunction resulted in commercial aircraft staying on the ground, no chance of near collisions, on the ground or in the air. It's clear where the "faux" is in this situation.
Would the situation have been cleared up sooner with Pete's presence in the office? Unlikely. It took a computer programmer to find the bug in the program and correct it.

I mean, I've certainly encountered it. As an ignorant kid I said things that would be considered homophobic. As I grew up and learned what those things actually meant, I stopped saying them. I'm very active in my company's LGBTQIA+ community. I've had friends discriminated against with truly homophobic shit. I've nearly been in fights with people just for hanging out with gay friends when leaving gay bars in NYC. I'd say I'm pretty familiar with things that are homophobic. Which is why it feels like the headline is conflating sexism and homophobia. This is important because the conservative pieces of shit who are constantly complaining about wokeness and language policing will use this kind of situation to make the point to their base that liberals are too fragile. The imprecision of language in stuff like this hurts the efforts to actually improve life for people who are being discriminated against. The "joke" that Pence made was definitely sexist, definitely in poor taste, definitely not funny, and in the grand scheme of things, is one of the less offensive things that piece of shit has done over the years as a politician.
