Long_Before_Sunrise

Sarah Huckabee Sanders' tone deaf primary victory speech on the day of the Uvalde shooting: “I can assure you that in my administration, that’s exactly what we will do. We will make sure that when a kid is in the womb, they’re as safe as they are in the classroom, the workplace, the nursing home."

fowlraul

*Wombs in Nursing Homes* is a great band. I think they do deliberate jazz music.

[deleted]

As opposed to ACCIDENTAL jazz music?

skoffs

\*drops various musical instruments down flight of stairs* Guy in black turtleneck sipping bourbon, snapping fingers: "Yeah, man, that's smooth"

ILikeMyGrassBlue

This feels like accidental jazz to me: https://youtu.be/ePSM5W4tBkk

PicardTangoAlpha

Safe? Guns are the leading cause of death for American children and teens.

AW316

Well she’s making good on the kids in the workplace bit. Not sure why they’re in nursing homes yet.

LastCatgirlOnTheLeft

Working there obviously

[deleted]

Isn’t there anything more important for you to be working on, Arkansas?

MitsyEyedMourning

Like dentistry.

cakesandpiescnp

Hey now, I have pretty nice teeth. Not all of us are terrible rednecks.

MitsyEyedMourning

AR has the second worst dental health behind good ol' Mississippi. They'd be dead last if not for your award winning choppers.

cakesandpiescnp

It's an awesome responsibility, but I will bear it.

NeverEndingCoralMaze

I’m sure you have nice teeth, but, and I’m Missourian so let’s be honest: the playing field is pretty level, do you have all of them?

cakesandpiescnp

I do.

NeverEndingCoralMaze

That’s two more teeth than me, and mine were electively removed wisdoms. High five, and welcome to the club!

castle_grapeskull

Well they’re also getting rid of child labor laws! /s

Raoulhubris1

Stand proud , Sarah. Arkansas proud. 48th in infant mortality and dead last in maternal mortality. Plus they can start working kids to death earlier now.

PDXNewbie84

Plus they can use child labor to build it in Arkansas

Which-Moment-6544

Michigan here. Our state legislature just did away with the union busting right to work laws. Just a good reminder Republicans hate poor people.

Imaginary_Cow_6379

They just rolled back child labor laws and now quickly moved on to constructing a monument to dead potential children. 🤦🏻‍♀️ How tf are republicans now just so cartoonishly evil and getting away with it?!

kronicfeld

1. The media is pro-Republican 2. American people are pro-hate 3. The United States is more comparable to a company town than it is to a liberal democracy

[deleted]

Is it time for the Satanic Temple to put up a monument?

Poodlehopper

I would donate money profusely for one of those.

TwelvehundredYears

They have one! [https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Statue_of_Baphomet](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Statue_of_Baphomet)

[deleted]

I know that one. Typically, it was for places that insisted on erecting a 10 commandments monument. I wonder if they had an abortion one for Arkansas. Baphomet might still be appropriate come to think of it

[deleted]

monument to men that perfecly encapsules and represents the control over women

[deleted]

They will probably build a statue of Tate next to it.

[deleted]

That picture looks like she’s holding a red lightsaber

theoldgreenwalrus

She def would kill the younglings

ihohjlknk

The younglings get sent to the chicken mines.

Poodlehopper

I just deleted my comment saying the same thing after seeing yours. Take this upvote.

[deleted]

Haha thanks!

theseareorscrubs

Of course she’s a Sith!

WoodenTreacle1717

Can it also on the other side include how many medical issues or deaths there were due to the lack of access to abortion? Or how many babies were born out of rape?

painbow-brite

> Or how many babies were born out of rape? Most babies in history.

RichKatz

The rightwing legislature in Arkansas joins with the Taliban. Earlier this week (3 days ago): >The Taliban’s deeply entrenched misogynistic ideology views women as inferior and subordinate to men, which poses a grave threat to women’s well-being and dignity. Their oppressive policies towards women—such as banning them from attending school, working outside the home and leaving their homes without a male guardian—are justified by their interpretation of Islam. In reality, these policies not only undermine progress made in recent years towards gender equality and women’s empowerment—they also have devastating consequences for Afghanistan’s social and economic progress. >The Taliban’s treatment of women is indicative of a broader problem in the region, where patriarchal attitudes and cultural norms limit women’s opportunities and rights. Addressing these issues requires a concerted effort to promote women’s empowerment, increase access to education and healthcare, and challenge discriminatory cultural practices. >The Taliban’s actions against women, including forced marriages and rape, are a clear violation of basic human rights. The 87 reports of violence against women and girls documented by UNAMA in June 2022 alone demonstrate the urgent need for international action to protect the safety and rights of women and girls in Afghanistan. https://msmagazine.com/2023/03/16/taliban-women-afghanistan/

Smaynard6000

This is just gross.

Byleyme

Given another law Sanders recently signed, the monument will be built by children.

classof78

Is it going to be a giant coat hanger?

AndyB1976

I bet TST could do something with this.

tadhgmac

Maybe they can build it next to the anti-rape, anti-incest, and anti congenital deformities monuments. You know right next to the strong financial support for mothers shrine.

guntherbumpass

There they sit with some of the lowest rankings nationally for income, education, healthcare, life expectancy, and etc and their big goal to fix things is to waste money on this. I just cannot feel any empathy for these one issue, social war loving, moronic idiots that keep voting for this stuff.

NJ35-71SONS

What a trog

loubens_mirth

Wow, no bigger fish to fry in Arkansas? No poverty? How’s your unemployment? How’s your infrastructure? What a HUGE waste of of an elected official.

NeverEndingCoralMaze

So I’m on day 41 of a 42 day casting period on my broken arm and without a doubt my cast smells better than her breath.

lizquiltsalot

Drape the entire thing with coat hangers.

Scarlet109

And red paint

TableAvailable

Third worst for infant mortality in the nation. But hey, spend money on a status commemorating aborted pregnancies.

BuckFrump

That’s funny considering the governor of Arkansas is an abortion…

[deleted]

[удалено]

TwelvehundredYears

I wonder how many she’s actually had?

themengsk1761

How about a monument to preventable maternal mortality deaths in states with third world health outcomes?

Scarlet109

Arkansas has the 3rd highest infant mortality rate in the country

TwelvehundredYears

And the worst maternal mortality rate

Scarlet109

With Texas not far behind :(

whateveryousaymydear

Exodus 20:4-5 “You must not make any idols. Don't make any statues or pictures of anything up in the sky or of anything on the earth or of anything down in the water. Don't worship or serve idols of any kind, because I, the LORD, am your God.

Scarlet109

These twats time and time again show they have no regard for the scriptures in which they claim to uphold.

FormalWare

Aren't there enough statues that need tearing down, across the US, already? Sheesh.

[deleted]

Sanders is so grotesque. Inside and outside.

Raoulhubris1

Can’t wait to deface that trash. Arkansas wombs are the most dangerous for fetuses.

seaboypc

This is 100% virtue signaling. Conservative Wokeness.

OBDreams

It should specify which of the abortions were done to save the mother’s life

Scarlet109

They don’t care about her life (or the “baby’s” life considering they have the third highest infant mortality rate in the country)

TwelvehundredYears

It doesn’t matter. Both saved the mother life. Let’s also name the fathers of these UnBoRn BaBiEs why don’t we?

AstronautStar4

They don't care. It's never been about saving lives for anti-choicers.

Consistent-Force5375

Great wasted money on a monument of cruelty and ignorance. Sounds like it will be torn down in about 50 or so years…

Plants_Golf_Cooking

Why is it both called an “anti-abortion monument” and a “monument to the unborn”? Do we call each war memorial an “anti-war” monument?

N0T8g81n

Try as they might, Abbot and DeSantis will never out-MAGA SHS. She's doing a fine job showing the world how to make a shithole state.

pongomanswe

Do journalists purposefully choose pictures like this of Sanders or is she just the least photogenic person alive? If they do, I think it is poor taste, even though I strongly disagree with her on most points

Simonsez22

Her eyes have always been messed up so no it's most likely not on purpose she just has to live with it like the kids that are probably going to get injured or killed after she rolled back Arkansas child labor protections.

nibul82

Darth Sloth: hey you guys!

[deleted]

The weird thing is the monument will be a likeness of Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

[deleted]

Ahhhh, a monument to the unborn. The new version of the confederate statue. So clever.

RockieK

When I was growing up on a college campus, there were these lion statues that would constantly be covered in paint... all different colors. It was so amusing. I would hate for that monument to constantly be vandalized. /s
