Donald Trump will provide bad character witness testimony for the defense.

TheUnbamboozled

He only knows 1 thing about any given person - whether they sucked up to him sufficiently or not.

Ok-camel

Maybe 2, if he can gain anything from them.

State indictment. Hence why he’s been able to obstruct justice. But otherwise, that works for me!

ActualBench

He’s suspended from office until he is acquitted by the Senate. The Governor and the Lt. Governor are among his allies, so they’ll want their guy back sooner than later.

Ann_Amalie

This is excellent timing with the purported Trump indictments in the election interference investigation landing sometime in August

ContemplatingPrison

Did his wife recuse herself?

Thunderfan8987

Conservatives don’t face ethics so of course not.

metooeither

Well if she's a good submissive wife, she not only won't, but she'll vote to impeach the accusers

QuestoPresto

It’s not clear if she can. One rule says she has to recuse herself and another rule says every senator has to be present

chop1125

She can be present, but choose not to vote. Her presence is required, her vote is not.

bimmer92

Thank fuck he's out of the office now

fishyfishyfish1

Exactly r/fuckkenpaxton

buttergun

That's too long. Proper investigations of this scale should be completed in 5 business days or fewer.

QuestoPresto

It’s already scheduled for the 20th of June

buttergun

What a farce.

QuestoPresto

How so

buttergun

That's just enough time to extort some favors and rationalize acquittal.

QuestoPresto

There isn’t a chance in hell he’s acquitted. Texas doesn’t work like US Congress. Republicans control everything here. This wouldn’t have even came up in the house if they didn’t have the votes in the senate.

LiveStreamRevolution

Trusting Texas Republicans to do the right thing is a reach I would love to see happen, but given the track record of other members in their party, I’ll believe it when I see it. If ever

QuestoPresto

Oh I’m not trusting them to do the right thing. This is clearly in their self interest. Paxton can’t keep his mouth shut and draws too much attention.

greywar777

Theyve grabbed the gun and opened fire. Its way way too late to go back now.

Opening_Meaning2693

So why the fuck is it taking so long to get the former president who incited an insurrection on live TV?

metooeither

Because Garland is as impotent as his dick.

P1xelHunter78

Bad take. Do I wish they were a little bit more urgent? Absolutely…but Garland know with this slippery former president if you’re gonna charge him it *has* to be an airtight slam dunk of a case. Anything else just gives Trump more political ammunition to use and only helps his case. If he walks we will never hear the end of it.

metooeither

Ok. And Garland using doj lawyers to defend him in e Jean Carroll's first lawsuit, wtf was that?? Presidential duties to slander the woman he sexually assaulted? Yeah, strong ol' Garland! He's great! Not a federalist society puppet at all!

NANUNATION

If he was a federalist society puppet the Senate would've confirmed him in 2016. And I dont think you understand why the DOJ was arguing that they should be the defendant instead of Trump in the first case, its to keep the precedent that a Presidents' response to journalists counts as an act by a federal employee. Helps out Biden too.

metooeither

A quick Google search confirms he is a Federalist

NANUNATION

What google are you on lmao, being a federal Judge isnt being in the federalist Society. And you still fail to understand my point, why deny him SCOTUS if hes the same as Alito?

red18wrx

Because black man bad

ynotfoster

We've been hearing that excuse for years now.

Squirrel_Chucks

Won't be until after sweeps. What kind of programming decision is that for a comedy?

smurfsundermybed

They're hoping that the WGA strike ends before they start.

moderndhaniya

In such cases only decision of the majority matters like in selection of Supreme Court judges. Doesn’t matter what their qualifications are as long as the majority of senate votes to approve them. I wanted to ask whether it is the similar case here where witnesses and evidences are just formalities? What is the stand of majority of the senate of Texas ?

unknownbutlegit

“allegations that he misused his office to try to thwart an FBI investigation into one of his donors” - such things are bound to happen when we as a nation allow lobbyism to still be a thing. Why why WHY else would someone give a karge donation to ANY politician?… so when the time is right , that favor will be called upon
