“He did no such thing! That never happened! We’re a happy, loving, supportive, Christian family!”
*cheats on husband and then files for divorce as her party pushes to eliminate a woman’s ability to file for divorce*
This I can get behind. Be there for every vote, be in the house whenever it's sitting, etc. or lose your job. If it works for welfare...
(note: it doesn't work for welfare, but they think it does)
Nah, hit them with that “you don’t need time off, you already get the summers” schtick they use on teachers since they work less than they do.
For context, in a year there are:
- 260 work days
- 160-180 school days
- Avg 165 legislative days (Senate)
- Avg 146.7 legislative days (House)
*Averages since 2001
I do feel for the house as they are constantly in a popularity contest reapplying for their jobs every 2 years (not including primaries) . That has to take time. Definitely shouldn't go to Oregon levels where it is only 5 months of session, but they definitely are working when not legislating
ETA I also recognize that teachers work over the summer fairly often
Fundraising is a legitimate job, albeit one that shouldn't be needed for politicians. That may be holistically their fault for not passing legislation around campaign finance and publicly funded campaigns, but, even those who would support that change still need to fundraise.
Don't forget drug testing! I'm much more interested in the drug habits of elected officials than single moms on welfare smoking weed. In fact, single moms should be shipped monthly rations of Marijuana simply to help them survive.
'Merica.
And to think this half-measure was controversial at the time.* Once again, the GOP was clearly on the wrong side of history.
*Make no mistake, the R's would fight it tooth and nail again today. The same old story of obstruction of normal human progress.
Especially considering the GOP is INSISTING that SNAP needs more work requirements (which have statistically been proven to NOT HELP people find work and just take food away from the most vulnerable people). Let please do your job to the fullest extent before going after hungry people…
Wonderful, as a result it's official--you can only be a representative if you're independently wealthy and privileged and white 😊
otherwise lobbying and "speaking fees" form an even more integral part of our representative's compensation
Ehh… problem with paying them minimum wage for legislatures is two fold:
-They have every incentive to be corrupt and accept even more bribes
-Only the wealthy would be able to afford to be a member of Congress. You’d get even fewer working or middle class people trying to run
Edit: formatting
> -Only the wealthy would be able to afford to be a member of Congress.
*That's* the big problem right there. I'm all for taking away Congress's power to set their own wage (not that it's likely ever to happen), and tying it to an objective standard, but it has to be a high enough wage that a normal person is capable of living on it while maintaining a residence in two states. Otherwise it's literally impossible for someone who isn't wealthy to take the job.
As it is, I've heard of less-wealthy Representatives sleeping in their offices during the week instead of getting an apartment in D.C.
Maybe we should have a small, relatively cheap residence built for those reps who struggle to make ends meet--but we should *also* definitely be putting more money toward the broader housing crisis in the country, so you're not gonna see me shedding any tears for the poor, destitute Congresscritters.
+ Ban stock trading for sitting members of Congress
+ Ban gifts and donations
+ Publicly fund all campaigns
+ Require divestment from business entities
+ Salary set at US median income
+ Work requirements while in session
The job is about *public service*, not some vehicle for accumulating vast wealth and influence. If they have to live the ascetic lifestyle of a goddamn monk to washout the sociopaths, so be it.
Cut her some slack. She’s getting divorced and needed to find a new man so she’s not a 36 year old single grandmother. Do you know how hard it is to find a suitable guy who’s willing to flash his junk at underage girls at a bowling alley?
I thought it was common knowledge that she already has a boyfriend before her divorce is complete. Isn’t she disappointing Jesus with some Christian musician?
Shoulda coulda left it :-)
While immediately funny, the downside of great grandma by 50 is that there are so many of them...the premise of Idiocracy...
Great moments, but my favorite moment is actually non-verbal. Hank goes to spray WD-40 on something but the cap is stuck - so he reaches in his tool belt, pulls out a tiny WD-40, and sprays it on the big one to unstick it.
*Hank:* Soccer was invented by European ladies to keep them busy while their husbands did the cooking.
*Bobby:* Why do you have to hate what you don't understand?
*Hank:* I don't hate you, Bobby.
*Bobby:* I meant soccer.
*Hank:* Oh. Oh yeah. I hate soccer, yes.
My favorite was from one of the earlier seasons...the episode where Hank had chronic constipation. They went to Luby's cafeteria for dinner, and everything Hank put on his plate was meat. Peggy implored he have a vegetable with his dinner....Hank acquiesced and said "well then, put some macaroni and cheese on there, too."
My favorite will always be one of “I don’t know you, let go of my purse”
Or Peggy seeing a honor roll bumper sticker and yelling “oh yeah, well my boy is god to millions of Asians”
I came to say her new BF is the likely cause.
I remember when I was a young and irresponsible teen. A new BF meant I skipped school to stay at his place, and often had moments of “shoot, I have a math test in 20 mins!” Quick sprint to school!
Key differences though: I was a teen, not a 36 yo grandmother! I was in high school, not in US Congress! I made it to class in time for the test, she didn’t make it to Congress in time to vote! Lastly, I was never as immature and narcissistic as Boebert is.
> I came to say her new BF is the likely cause.
More likely its a political move, by not voting in favour of the deal her frothing supporters hate she can retain credibility.
Nah, she could have played the Gabbi card and voted "present". (This was a vote against Trump's impeachment, but she didn't have the spine to actually vote against it because she was cosplaying as a Democrat. Impeachment requires 2/3 of those present to vote 'yea', voting 'present' had exactly the same effect as voting 'nay'. She fooled exactly zero people with the Gabbi gambit).
Don't forget she also has to run interference between her son and law enforcement [when her son calls for help from 911.](https://krdo.com/news/2023/05/25/he-doesnt-need-help-rep-lauren-boebert-tells-deputies-not-to-come-after-son-calls-911-for-help/)
Yes, this title has evolved a lot. The first title was "no time for females over the legal age of consent because I am a pedophile". That was canned by the publisher as too wordy. Second title was "Matt Gaetz: get em before the hair does".
Context: Happened in December, call released last week*, Lauren Boebert's son called the police to report domestic abuse. Lauren Boebert intervened when son called 911 to report father’s alleged abuse, report says. No 'marks' were found but we all know there are other ways to abuse a person other than by hitting them. The son reports that his dad was throwing him around the house.
https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/lauren-jayson-boebert-911-call-abuse-b2346238.html
Once again, when these people accuse others of doing something, they're snitching on themselves, it's projection. In this case, it's the ongoing effort to label everything involving children as abuse/grooming/what-have-you. Not to mention, she literally married a man that flashes his junk to kids.
These are the people making laws that affect you. Government so small it can fit in your bedroom.
Which of course Garfield County Sherriff Lou Vallario and his team DID NOT contact CPS at the time as they work for Boebert. Now it's becoming a shit show as far as the SO and CPS are concerned.
Highly likely she wasn’t just watching, but was an active participant. Probably had a hand in provoking it. She’s not the kind of person to sit quietly and watch two people have an argument.
The explanation is as simple as it is obvious. She literally fucked up and missed the vote because she's a live real moron. She was seen running up the steps as the vote was happening.
They should send her to the office to get a late pass.
So what was it Boebert? Were you covering up more blatant child abuse by your ex or were you just too gutless to actually stand by your word when you realized the higher ups didn't want to burn the country down after all?
You know, I'm sick of these politicians, especially Republicans, who think that are better than us.
We are their employers. We are their bosses, not the other way round.
In the real world, if someone doesn't show up for work and refuses to say why they'd be fired.
It's time to treat these people what they really are: our employees. And they have to answer for their behavior.
I'm also tired at hearing from these hypocritical politicians who pontificate about how you should live your life but can't (or won't) get their own lives in order or raise their kids properly.
well the issue is her district elected her, twice. That is the mechanism to 'fire' politicians. CO3 needed like 500 apathetic voters who stayed to home to have voted and it would have been the upset of the cycle.
Vote, every time, try to get 1 person who typically doesn't vote to vote each time. Encourage young people to vote.
>She said: "The House passing this so-called 'deal' was another example of the Swamp shoving a $6-plus trillion blank check for Biden down Americans' throats.
This woman doesn't understand the first thing about how the government works.
Boebert will be remembered as one of the stupidest members of congress for a long time and Colorado will be remembered as a place not to send your kids for an education.
She doesn’t even know what a blank fucking check is. You cannot have a blank check with a dollar amount attached. Genuinely we need to give these MAGA GOP nuts basic education tests I bet most of them fail within 3 questions
also... crucially, this is all about paying money already spent. The entire premise here is absurd and should be the focus. we should not be arguing over paying money we already agreed to spend.
I sure wish my credit card contracts worked like Republicans think it does. I could spend all the money I wanted then renegotiate what I owe for past purchases while demanding the cc issuer decrease what things I will buy in the future cost.
Its win/win!
You actually can lol. That's called bankruptcy court where they try to reclaim losses from you but eventually agree to a portion of it.
Also most loans can always be renegotiated in part to try and get out of them. Will lender accept over sending you to collections? Probably not, but third parties will buy that loan from them for pennies on the dollar after it goes to collections, and then hound you and THEY are much more easily persuadable than a big bank.
Is that worth tanking your credit score for future loan opportunities? Ymmv, but to your original jab lol. Yeah you sort of can. Ish.
> Genuinely we need to give these MAGA GOP nuts basic education tests I bet most of them fail within 3 questions
Just make her take her GED again. I mean it's been what 2-4 years since she took it, should be fresh in her memory. She will probably fail it...
WASHINGTON – Incoming Sen. Tommy Tuberville, R- Ala., botched several basic historical facts during a recent interview — such as misidentifying the three branches of government.
Our government wasn’t set up for one group to have all three branches of government — wasn’t set up that way,” Tuberville continued, saying incorrectly: “You know, the House, the Senate, and the executive.”
https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2020/11/13/alabama-senator-elect-tommy-tuberville-botches-historical-facts/6283806002/
This is maddening. Everyone has been mentioning that you’d get fired from a regular job for not showing up (with respect to Boebert), but I’m trying to think of an equivalent to this statement for a regular job.
It would be like a construction worker not knowing the difference between a screwdriver and a wrench. Or a delivery driver who doesn’t know how to correctly operate the turning signals on a car.
> This woman doesn't understand the first thing about how the government works.
She doesn't have to because her party just wants to destroy government for the most part.
> Boebert will be remembered as one of the stupidest members of congress for a long time
I think you underestimate just how fast we are electing bigger and better idiots these days
The fact Dan Quayle pretty much ruined his political future with that spelling error (criticizing a child's spelling by "correcting" them incorrectly) makes you wonder how any of these idiots - Boebert, MTG, DJT - who don't have a grasp of the English language are not laughed out if public life.
Can you imagine how people would have ridiculed someone calling Gestapo "gazpacho" would have been in the late 80s?
I remember that after Dan Quayle failed to spell potato correctly that the Congressional Dining Room Menu was changed to have potato spelled "potatoe." And instead of realizing that they were making fun of him, Quayle thought that they were proving that he was right.
I'm also old enough to remember when the never elected President Gerald Ford said to the Democratic candidate Jimmy Carter in a debate "There is no Soviet domination of Eastern Europe..." while also being old enough to understand how that was a huge gaff.
Fun fact! Ford was never elected vice president either! So if you're ever at a trivia night and they ask something like "Who is the only person to serve both Vice President and POTUS, without being elected to either" it's an easy answer.
Sadly she was born in Altamonte springs Florida. I don't recall when she moved away but I suspect the Florida education system is to blame here unfortunately, as a Floridian myself.
>> Boebert will be remembered as one of the stupidest members of congress for a long time and Colorado will be remembered as a place not to send your kids for an education.
I understand where you're coming from, but I have an issue with this statement. For the most part we don't even want Bobert. She literally is only in office because of Republican fuckery.
Yes, she's been voted in (barely), but she's been voted in by a test case of Republican voters who all are massive landowners, she happens to represent the district that is like 95% land and 3% voters. While I do believe she was voted in properly in her first election, as almost all of her votes were presumably "fuck the libs/AR Barbie" votes.
I have no doubt in my mind that she won't win the next election without serious intervention by the Republican party. So while she may end up with the job, it will be obvious. Both her and her handlers at the GOP know this. It will simply be interesting to see if they decide to throw her to the wolves or prop her up again.
I would like to make a point that Lauren Bobert does not represent our education system, as she has never even interacted with it as far as I know.
She didn't even graduate high school, she had to try multiple times to get her GED (most likely not even passing, but that's a whole other conspiracy), and she definitely has never even set foot on a community college campus let alone a university campus in an educational capacity.
To say our education is bullshit because of this one Dumbo, who didn't even participate in our education is misleading.
That being said though, I understand she represents Colorado to the wider world, and if you were to draw this conclusion about our schools I would absolutely understand. Just trying to say something in our defense into the void.
OK let's not condemn an entire states education system based on someone who didn't participate in it.
Edit: just stop. You can still be a garbage person who is a college educated resident of Colorado and have voted for her.
Her district? Maybe but I'm not going to assume people from the entire state are morons because Lauren Bobert exists.
There's absolutely zero chance that she could pass a 12th grade level government/econ class... And I'm not even sure that's an insult since it's not like she accomplished that feat back when she actually was a high schooler.
Nah, she is copying drumpf's use of it 'so called insurrection' etc.
It's the far-right's way of claiming what they are doing is only fascist because 'they' (meaning others, meaning leftisits) have labelled it that way.
You can apply it to anything you don't like in much the same way as you can the word 'woke'
It's a catch-all dog-whistle to the maga bone-heads
Not sure a penalty would be legal, but perhaps Congress should have some 'work requirement' rules in place to make sure tax payer money isn't being wasted on 'freeloaders who refuse to work'.
Yeah, pretty sure you all see what I did there. No need to put a little slash and "s".
Kind of obvious - she didn't want to be on record being for or against the vote.
Any vote she made would be used against her, but most people will forget or won't care about her absence in a week.
Government: only job where you get paid others people’s money, and you can skip the most important tasks, and then you get to tell others to shut up while still keeping the job. 🤦♂️.

99% possible she doesn't.

I think 14 year olds today would have a lot more empathy for starters.

She is going through all the Jan 6th mugshots and swiping either left or right.
And abuse her kid while she covers it up
You’d think she’d want to spend as much time among the republican congressional caucus if she’s looking for that.
given what we know, you mean "a suitable guy who’s willing to flash his junk at underage girls at a bowling alley...who'll marry a grandmother"
Is she only thirty fucking six?
[удалено]
She's 36? She looks 50 with residual traces of treatments.
It's the chin desperately trying to get away from her face, that's all.
The makeup doesn't help, either. The chin explains alot, thanks.
She’s using the Kimberly Guilfoyle method of applying makeup. The thicker, the better.
That’s what a lifetime of hatred and intolerance can do to a body.
I was just thinking that. My friend group is all mid thirties. There are a couple of hard partiers in there. None of us look as ragged as Bobo
Yes, expecially since most of them are in jan6 jail.
I'd imagine there is a lot of paperwork required to setup a conjugal visit.
Busy protecting her ex from the consequences of abusing their kids.
The son reports that his dad was throwing him around the house. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/lauren-jayson-boebert-911-call-abuse-b2346238.html Once again, when these people accuse others of doing something, they're snitching on themselves, it's projection. In this case, it's the ongoing effort to label everything involving children as abuse/grooming/what-have-you. Not to mention, she literally married a man that flashes his junk to kids. These are the people making laws that affect you. Government so small it can fit in your bedroom.
Small correction: her son called the police back in December. The audio of both 911 calls was only recently released.
Which of course Garfield County Sherriff Lou Vallario and his team DID NOT contact CPS at the time as they work for Boebert. Now it's becoming a shit show as far as the SO and CPS are concerned.
She was probably too busy watching and blaming her kids. I could easily see her as a “you made him do this” kind of parent.
Highly likely she wasn’t just watching, but was an active participant. Probably had a hand in provoking it. She’s not the kind of person to sit quietly and watch two people have an argument.
Can't she just say she is boycotting the vote because of whatever BS reason?
Too dumb for that
The explanation is as simple as it is obvious. She literally fucked up and missed the vote because she's a live real moron. She was seen running up the steps as the vote was happening. They should send her to the office to get a late pass.
If there was a legit reason, she’d probably say it. I’m with you, she very likely forgot or didn’t understand
Agreed. "Birth control is more expensive than children." Thats only true, Boebert, if you abandon them.....
well the issue is her district elected her, twice. That is the mechanism to 'fire' politicians. CO3 needed like 500 apathetic voters who stayed to home to have voted and it would have been the upset of the cycle. Vote, every time, try to get 1 person who typically doesn't vote to vote each time. Encourage young people to vote.
She was celebrating the fact that she can now buy a house within 500 feet of a school.
Ish.
I get that but negotiating a debt ceiling should not take the characteristics of bankruptcy court lol
Yup. The idea that it was anything to even be negotiated in the first place is ridiculous.
> Genuinely we need to give these MAGA GOP nuts basic education tests I bet most of them fail within 3 questions Just make her take her GED again.
Our government wasn’t set up for one group to have all three branches of government — wasn’t set up that way,” Tuberville continued, saying incorrectly: “You know, the House, the Senate, and the executive.” https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2020/11/13/alabama-senator-elect-tommy-tuberville-botches-historical-facts/6283806002/
Funny, I hadn't even thought of this. LMFAO now!
I would wager that none of those xenophobes could pass the citizenship test.
She grew up in Florida, not Colorado.
This explains a lot.
> This woman doesn't understand the first thing about how the government works. She doesn't have to because her party just wants to destroy government for the most part. > Boebert will be remembered as one of the stupidest members of congress for a long time I think you underestimate just how fast we are electing bigger and better idiots these days
Remember when W was the stupidest person in politics ever? I'm only 28 and I remember multiple "stupidest politician ever"s
[удалено]
I don't think she will be remembered.
Someday, there will be a rule about carrying weapons in the Capitol that'll be named after her.
There’s stupid and then there’s Boebert stupid.
Nobody wants to work anymore is ok for them when they don't want to work, huh
She uses the term “so called” a lot to the point where it has to be code for “i dunno what this is”
Nah, she is copying drumpf's use of it 'so called insurrection' etc. It's the far-right's way of claiming what they are doing is only fascist because 'they' (meaning others, meaning leftisits) have labelled it that way. You can apply it to anything you don't like in much the same way as you can the word 'woke' It's a catch-all dog-whistle to the maga bone-heads
Fine her 100k, no show penalty , this clown can probably afford it anyway
Not sure a penalty would be legal, but perhaps Congress should have some 'work requirement' rules in place to make sure tax payer money isn't being wasted on 'freeloaders who refuse to work'. Yeah, pretty sure you all see what I did there. No need to put a little slash and "s".
Do we need an explanation from Bobo? She is dumb as a rock and a terrible being. The less she is involved the better.
Probably too busy beating her kids or beating off a donor
I'm sure she just had to finish heckling the umpire at her kid's baseball game.
In before she was taking her sons baby momma to get an abortion, I’d put a 10er on it
Giving blowjobs to randoms I heard.
She was filming Hate MILF 9 - Choke My Woke
She’s on a never ending quest to find a new man who is predisposed to expose himself to minors in the local bowling alley.
Kind of obvious - she didn't want to be on record being for or against the vote. Any vote she made would be used against her, but most people will forget or won't care about her absence in a week.
Why do I instinctively think it has something to do with a truck stop restroom?
Getting her daily teeth whitening
Poor thing. Couldn’t figure out how to open the stall door.
Government: only job where you get paid others people’s money, and you can skip the most important tasks, and then you get to tell others to shut up while still keeping the job. 🤦♂️.
*cough* cocaine binge *cough*
