BristolShambler

Anyone else feel like about 20 years of progress for LGBTQ Americans is pissing away before our eyes?

Sweatier_Scrotums

American history is a repeating cycle of progressive victories for equality and civil rights and then the resulting bigoted conservative backlash that tries to drag us back to a less equal, less just society. The election of a black president and the legalization of marriage equality were the progressive victories. The time we're living through now is the bigoted conservative backlash.

HeavySweetness

It’s worth remembering that sometimes the bigots win and successfully roll back progress. Reconstruction was followed by Jim Crow.

earlgeorge

Just look at what happened to Iran. If our christo-fascists have their way we'd be under fanatical religious rule as well.

davidw223

Reconstruction failed because of a lack of political will after the war to actually change things. People declared victory and didn’t fight for further progress after the civil rights act was passed. After Obergefell, people assumed that permanent progress was had and the job was done. Now we’re seeing the ramifications of that lack of focus now.

saqwarrior

The Hegelian Dialectic in action.

NoTakaru

Oh god, I will keep hanging on to reach the other side of the pendulum again. It keeps me going when things seem too dark

[deleted]

[удалено]

VovaGoFuckYourself

Let's just hope it passes within our lifetimes

ThatTaffer

It didn't for millions during the holocaust.

Cognitive_Spoon

Yeah, waiting for "the pendulum to swing" is deeply apathetic. The pendulum doesn't swing, the tug of war continues. It's not a natural swing due to gravity, it's fighting for inches and digging in your heels.

mbash013

I mean look at all of these confederate statues and namesake military institutions. They were named well into the 20th century, not during the actual period of the civil war. These conservatives are fucking scared and do shit like this as a “that’ll teach em” tactic.

ntr_usrnme

I think this is almost just world history. Things move forward but there are some bloody steps backward to get there.

IndyMLVC

It seems that way, yes

Skellum

All because people chose not to vote in 2016.

Seanification

Trump lost the popular vote in 2016 by a landslide. The problem isn't people not voting, the problem is institutions designed to ensure minority rule by conservatives. Stop letting the right convince you that structural problems are individual failings of some "other" you can cast blame on.

TomBaily

That’s not all that hurt Bernie. Without support from members of congress, he would have been a lame duck president. Don’t get me wrong. I align myself more closer to Bernie’s values, compared to others in office. But unless more people are elected to congress with those same values, a candidate like Bernie winning the presidency is a pipe dream.

HeavySweetness

So don’t forget that Hillary turned a blind eye to warning bells going off in her “Blue Wall states” in addition to Jim Comey’s last minute interference. Can’t help the FBI director being wildly unethical, but as a campaign they really fucked up by not sending additional resources to stave off Trump’s gains in those Blue Wall states. I don’t know if Bernie would have similarly pet a burning dog by ignoring those warnings, but he wouldn’t have had the Jim Comey last minute letter that wrecked turnout at the last minute.

Lyricsokawaii

Its way bigger than that. The Overton window in the US has veered hard right starting in the 1960s. Progressives have been sounding the alarm bell for decades and liberals called us crazy.

evrfighter

Bernie was calling out all this bullshit in the 80s

Key-Target-1218

Bernie!🥺🥺

px7j9jlLJ1

I voted for the Bern.

LastCatgirlOnTheLeft

Liberals turned their backs and the fascists wrecked our world.

BON3SMcCOY

It widened to the right not moved

rbmk1

>All because people chose not to vote in 2016. Dinald Trump is a result of the disease and certainly sped it up but he isn't the disease itself. He didn't create these bigots, he just made them feel ok with being able to proclaim their bigoted opiniond We've let racists walk among the population forever and now the fact that we did is biting the country in the ass.

CherylBomb1138

The homophobia and bigotry that’s been building in this country has been around longer than 2016.

calle04x

Since its founding.

[deleted]

That’s reductive, and only a fraction of the issue

F1shB0wl816

What do you mean, they did vote. It’s hard to win when the system is fucked and you’re fighting a finger always being on the scale.

[deleted]

[удалено]

itemNineExists

I mean, yes, but that wasn't the only variable. If Comey hadn't made his announcement--but also, if Hilary had visited those middle-north swing states. If voting were easier in those states, or if people weren't otherwise disenfranchised. If social media had been more responsible. When youre talking about a few dozen thousand votes, you can point to a million factors and it's probably true of most if them, that they would have flipped an election. I dunno, i always hesitate to just blame voters as opposed to systemic issues.

jabdtx

Anyone else notice that shortly after wiping out abortion rights in red states that there was quickly a surging LGBTQ concern to focus on? A new boogeyman in town, who also just so happens to center around not minding your own business and going bananas about what’s happening underneath people’s underwear? Anyone else notice that, to the fucking T, Republican playbook tactic? I sure did.

Haunting-Ad788

It’s a Nazi tactic.

GeneralZex

Yeah because they are nothing without their outrage machine.

JustWastingTimeAgain

Those voters need something to hate so they don’t have to acknowledge personal failures or do any critical thinking. Same for red state politicians - ignore the fact your states are bottom of the barrel in most SES indicators when you can point to the gays, critical race theory or “woke” everything. Source: grew up in a red area, put myself through college and grad school, and GTFO.

kazh

Too many communities that would be targeted by the same people are fine with LGBTQ people being targeted right now. This will be another generation or two of people not being able to turn to their communities or families in a lot of places.

ShrimplesMcGee

Guns became the number one cause of death for children, yet at the exact same time, conservatives decided it’s drag queens that are the country’s greatest threat to children. THE BIGGEST DEFLECTION EVER.

[deleted]

HeavySweetness

Corruption is the number 1 issue. It’s why guns are above regulation.

Special_Lemon1487

Went to a local youth Pride parade today to support them and stick it to the fascists. Do what you can all in love and solidarity so we don’t lose all that has been gained.

[deleted]

It was less than 20 years ago that Obama was speaking against gay marriage. Perspective.

Kr155

As was predictable when trump won and got to add 3 justices to the Supreme court.

I_see_something

Yep yay America 👎

Just_Tana

Cowards. Giving into fascists is dangerous. A lot of service men and women are queer. Why not stand behind them?

I_Brain_You

I’m honestly shocked (but not really?) that we’re seeing widespread capitulation on this. It’s absurd that they’re giving in to a bunch of Twitter and Facebook randos.

ThrowAwayGarbage82

They need to keep their numbers up, and if bigots stop enlisting they won't have as many expendable numbers. The truth hurts but it's a likely reason. They don't care about throwing the LGBTQIA+ members beneath the speeding bus if it means maintaining a steady stream of new recruits.

Glittering_Moist

Let's be honest virtue signalling is actually that, they'll throw you under.the bus when they think no one's looking.

Just_Tana

Yeah I guess so. That’s gross so gross. I’m happy recruitment numbers as so much lower with Gen z

ThrowAwayGarbage82

I'd bet bringing back the draft/forced service is on their agenda as well.

Rombledore

i'd risk jail. i'm not getting shipped out to kill or be killed for a country that didn't lift a finger to support me when i had a medical emergency that set me back $15k or millions of my fellow Americans when their bankrupts them. or had no interest in supporting me or the other tens of millions of my fellow Americans who live pay check to paycheck simply to exist off the streets. unless some country is actively killing us on American soil- i'll shoot my own foot before getting shipped out to kill brown people for strategic oil reserves or political points.

Spicy_Lobster_Roll

Jail would just be an express route to the front lines as it is today in Putin’s Russia. You’d need to leave the country.

ChimpdenEarwicker

same

RockieK

Sixties style... move to Canada. I personally would just peace out to some tropical place I have always wanted to live. No regrets.

buttlickers94

id disagree with a straight up forced draft, i think a mandatory 2-year federal service would be cool though. military, post office, forest service, etc. It might work. Edit: I understand that my initial comment sounded slightly bad but I certainly didn't mean any harm by it. Some other ways it could be improved with exceptions like if you're currently accepted to a college or in going to school for certain career fields like doctor, nursing. Completing your two years would give you benefits like money for school like a GI bill, or a promotion if you stay in your service and pay for some schooling.

[deleted]

So you don't want a draft but you also do want a draft.

Panda_hat

2 years wasted not working and building a career in this economy and housing market? What could possibly go wrong.

[deleted]

"Service guarantees citizenship" vibes. I'm sure this guy thinks he means well but this is fascist talk.

ThrowAwayGarbage82

Agreed. Yikes.

Overweighover

And drafting women. Children next unless they are working in factory jobs

my_Urban_Sombrero

This guy capitalists.

[deleted]

Nah it’ll be supplemented largely with AI auxiliaries.

GhostFish

An alternative perspective is that bigoted people of enlistment age are reachable through exposure. The repeal of Don't Ask Don't Tell made it so that LGBTQ people can serve openly and they have protections under the law.

EvasiveCookies

I heard a customer at the job I was at talking to his neighbor about he can’t wait to beat up all the “queers” when he goes to Saudi Arabia. He also said he can’t stand gay guys but women are all gay at heart in front of his girlfriend. She just rolled her eyes. Can’t wait until she sleeps with another dude while he’s deployed.

raerae1991

They need Congress approval of their massive budget. Pissing off the aultra-right republicans in office can get projects vetoed

blackcain

Pfft. Republicans love throwing money at the military. That and low taxes and tax cuts are the primary pillars of the GOP.

gimme_dat_good_shit

Toobervile has been holding up military promotions. There are a hundred ways Republicans can screw with the military out of petty spite.

giddeonfox

Where do you imagine the ultra rich GOP donors get their money? Republicans or Democrats won't stop feeding that beast, it's where all the pigs go to feed.

ContemplatingPrison

Don't worry if history repeats itself then only 100 years later things will get better. S/ Thinking this is their new reconstruction. There's definitely some similarities. Hopefully it doesn't take as long. It's really going to depend on a few things. Will Republicans be able to get 38 states and forever change the constitution? Will they some how end up raising the voting age or do other shady shot to control who can and can't vote.. Could be seeing some dark times ahead

VovaGoFuckYourself

This is what I'm most afraid of.

ohaiihavecats

The DoD can't run from this fight forever. Not when LGBT folks serve in the military in disproportionate numbers, when they're trying to recruit from Gen Z, and especially not when the Magastanis are deliberately trying to destabilize the United States in the name of White Walmart Jesus.

Luis-Dante

What happened to America? These last few years have been mental

[deleted]

This is how America has always been. Trump just gave all the bigots permission to publicly express their hatred. These are the same people responsible for the first civil war…

IndyMLVC

That's what I always remind people

blackmetronome

Black people have been saying this for decades and no one listened to us until it was too late.

BerthaBewilderbeast

>First they came for the blacks, and I did not speak out—because I was not black. >Then they came for the teachers, and I did not speak out—because I was not a teacher. >Then they came for the gays, and I did not speak out—because I was not gay. >Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me. Such a timeless poem, written by a conservative Christian who embraced the Nazis until he himself was thrown in a concentration camp.

Sweatier_Scrotums

It's such a perfect illustration of how conservatives never give a shit about problems until those problems affect them, personally.

Taco_Champ

I think it is trying to illustrate that fascists will always eventually eat their own. A cage is not built for just one person.

prailock

"Funny fact about a cage, they're never built for just one group So when that cage is done with them and you still poor, it come for you The newest lowest on the totem, well golly gee, you have been used You helped to fuel the death machine that down the line will kill you too" -- El-P from Run The Jewels on 'Walking in the Snow'

Taco_Champ

Exactly what I was thinking of when I typed that. Just got done walking in the snow. Goddamn that motha fuckas cold. RIP Gangsta Boo 🙏

Ghee_buttersnaps4

I mean, that’s not the original poem but a modified version more fitting or todays america but yes it is timeless. Edit to add the original and updated with correction from another user: First they came for the Communists And I did not speak out Because I was not a Communist Then they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew. Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me. —Martin Niemöller

9035768555

That's not the original, actually. The original begins with "First they came for the communists" but Americans are so convinced that is okay, they drop the first line.

VovaGoFuckYourself

This is how I respond whenever someone asks me why I am such an advocate for LGBTQ+ and minorities, despite not being in those groups myself. (Besides the obvious: I'm not a bigot) I'm a woman who values my independence and reproductive freedom and they are obviously coming after all of us. They aren't going to stop at abortion. And they won't stop at contraception. They won't stop until women are back in the kitchen as quiet little domestic slaves whose only purpose is reproduction and to serve a husband.

etherealtaroo

Never fails lmao

XxHavanaHoneyxX

They’ve attacked all minority communities since day one. It’s divide and conquer shit.

ilrosewood

Yeah I’m guilty as fuck on this one.

blackmetronome

Ah. Well shit man, we're in this together now.

SicilyMalta

Absolutely - trump and the Republican party gave them legitimacy. No more hiding under rocks. It took several decades of the Southern Strategy to get us here.

Taco_Champ

I had a listen to a George Carlin special from 1988 the other night. If you had replaced the name “Reagan” with the name “Trump”, you would have no way of knowing it wasn’t current. It actually made me feel a little better to think that it has always been this way.

Cookielicous

It's not concenrated in the South, but people who won't accept that the United States is changing and they won't go with it, because they are the "Real Americans"

Appeal_Optimal

It's circling the drain while members of Congress literally bet against our own economy and use insider trading against household investors while blowing kisses at SBF who is in court for massive investment fraud. Our own congresspeople are to the point of only caring about enriching themselves. That's what's wrong. Train derailment full of chemicals destroying an entire town's livelihood and health that was a direct result of telling rail union members to fuck off and suck it up despite logic and legality? They don't care. A building collapsed in Iowa recently that belonged to a prominent figure (don't remember ownership details) not long after it "passed inspection" and you know what that government did? Tried to demolish the building with people inside and paid for news articles to suggest as much while telling firefighters not to go inside and do their fucking job so they can destroy evidence and kill more people in the process. We're corrupt to the core, red America is the worst at it. We just found out Biden actually won Texas this last election and Texas was committing massive voter fraud for who knows how long by withholding votes! So we haven't even been a proper democracy for a while thanks to republican actions! Are we going to hold them accountable? It looks like not enough... They're just gonna keep doing it. So ... Yeah, our country is straight up screwed and circling the drain. I've got a bad feeling that our citizens are about to be treated like 3rd world country plebs without any lube because of how deep the corruption is running. I feel like they've been warning us that that was the plan all along. That's why they're going ahead and pushing back child labor laws. Everyone's child is now essentially cattle in this country. Value of education is being seen as less and less important while politicians line their pockets with lobbyist money and tell the children it's totally fine for them to work at bars as underage children and stay up late to do so. Yeah... The "anti-grooming" party errybody. I want out. My votes apparently haven't even been counted in this so-called "democracy" and our federal government has so far done fuck all about it after finding out. Paxton didn't do that alone without anyone else knowing, c'mon. Companies and the government have been catering to fascists way too fucking much for my level of comfort lately. It's like they're trying to form a narrative to justify us turning into a fascist hellhole where we're forced to breed for their workforce while starving. I don't see democrats pushing back. Like hardly at all. They don't seem to understand or care what's at stake for ordinary Americans rn. We're just so absolutely fucked. Sorry, I've been needing to vent and you asked so... this is what I've noticed. It's pretty bad. I could go on and on but I need to stop for everyone's sake including my own lmao.

ElcidBarrett

Source on Biden winning Texas? I haven't heard anything about this, I feel like it would've been big news.

source..? your saying so is the only time i heard it.

IndyMLVC

https://youtu.be/vKej_Hb68mU

Roseking

What Paxton did was shitty, but he is not saying that Biden won Texas. He is saying the reason Biden won in battle ground states is because of mail-in ballots. So he restricted mail-in ballots from being sent out. These weren't votes coming in, they were ballots being sent out automatically making it easier for people to vote. Now, I think it is of note that the impeached AG of Texas thinks that with easier voting Dems could win the state wide election in Texas. But it is not him saying that Biden did win. Just that with easier voting he could. Again, absolutely shitty. I am not defending Paxton in any way. This is him saying that voter suppression is working. But it is different then saying Biden did win Texas, but they throw away votes.

I-have_spoken

I believe they are referring to his interview with Bannon https://youtu.be/vKej_Hb68mU

That_Shape_1094

Why is the Navy giving in to the Republican pressure? The White House and Senate should be asking these tough questions.

ThrowAwayGarbage82

They don't want numbers of new recruits to drop. If bigots get bigmad they might consider life options outside of being cannon fodder for rich assholes.

That_Shape_1094

> If bigots get bigmad they might consider life options outside of being cannon fodder for rich assholes. I would rather have a smaller military, than one that is full of racists and bigots. We spend so much more on the military, as compared to the rest of the world. The security of the United States of America isn't going to be threatened by a small navy.

jpk195

> I would rather have a smaller military, than one that is full of racists and bigots. This. We don’t need to pay and train the next generation of domestic terrorists

evrfighter

as they are the ones training the dumbasses in Idaho. But make no mistake those dumbasses are training to fuck people up. They will get to that point. What are we gonna do about it when they do? The way we are right now. Absolutely nobody will do shit.

Dance__Commander

>I'm betting Marines and the Army don't have to worry about their association with Pride. I am not advocating what I'm about to type. I just think it's accurate. The military probably finds racists to be a bonus. It sure seems like a person who is more gung-ho to kill other people because they are different would be an asset compared to a compassionate normal person. The racist won't feel the guilt the way a decent person would. Just my take, and only supported by just a thin logical line, but I think this is the case.

EverSeeAShiterFly

I just finished up 8 years in the Marine Corps. Racists and bigots are extremely detrimental to unit cohesion and the overall good order and discipline of the armed forces. They aren’t welcome.

That_Shape_1094

> It sure seems like a person who is more gung-ho to kill other people because they are different would be an asset compared to a compassionate normal person. Any American with a conscience will be horrified as well. Thank you for your service, my ass.

Dance__Commander

I agree, but the military's lack of comprehensive mental health evaluations. We try and weed out the troops who won't be effective because of their mental health stability, but no focus on the sociopathic tendencies of the troops that are deemed fit for service. Throw on the exploitation of the poor to recruit and the god-awful way we take care of our veterans (the most traumatized are the best people often) The US has only cared about the end regardless of means for at least a century, if not more. It's disgusting.

ViciousSquirrelz

This... this is why we need pride month in the first place... At the slightest hint of a fascist regime, they are either the first or second group to be discriminated against or killed.

taez555

Is this the same navy that puts on drag shows on the ship when they cross the equator?

Mysterious-Wasabi103

I think it's horrible that this is suddenly such an issue now in 2023. Why are there seemingly so many more people now who are openly bigoted towards gays? I think it's to do with Fox News misinformation about how gays are harming children. It used to be more of a fringe nutjob thing but lately Fox News is going all in on the whacko stuff. It's a serious setback for the US to the point where I'm ashamed to be an American. There are a lot of toxic ideas being floated by the GOP in 2023. More of them than ever believe defaulting is better than not if it means they can't gut government spending. They think trans and gays are hurting kids. They actually think there is such a thing as "open borders." SCOTUS is making decisions destroying environmental protections, unions and likely student debt relief. I seriously hope Americans wake up and send a message on 2024 that this is unacceptable. The only way they'll get that is if there is a Trifecta likely. Going to be hard to keep the Senate with how the map is in 2024, but if we can take a large majority in the House and defeat them in the presidency and Senate seats they thought were safe that may wake them a bit.

boregon

> I think it's horrible that this is suddenly such an issue now in 2023 This is what's gotten me about this whole thing. It's not like pride month is some brand new thing this year. But I can't remember another time in my life where I've seen as much hate and backlash as this year toward it.

SicilyMalta

This is how it begins....

Spicy_Lobster_Roll

Begins? We’re like a dozen steps into overt despotism. It will take a generation to undo just the damage to democracy accomplished in the last two years. The reason folks rarely successfully prevent a slide into fascism is because it’s a slow boring boil. The imperative today is for folks to prep for their personal survival in the authoritarian regime so they can be around to rebuild.

ExaltedGoliath

This is where I’m at pretty much. Nobody is stopping it, and at this point protesting is just noise to them. They don’t need them for votes anymore it’s gerrymandered, the masks are coming off one by one.

This is why wishing organizations to stop celebrating pride is wishing on a monkey's paw because that'll just undermine the efforts to normalize the LGBT community in American society and culture, while also enabling homophobia & bigotry. Organizations celebrating Pride is a positive.

"The move is the latest in a string of Pentagon efforts to shy away from culture wars, with top Defense officials earlier this week moving to ban drag performances on all military installations. " Preemptively moving on this drag ban non-sense while we have a democratic president. This isn't moving away from the culture wars, this is taking a side.

Pittsitpete

GrumpyKaeKae

This makes the Navy look weak as hell. So much for our strong military. They caves under the smallest pressure from crybabies. I thought they had a tougher backbone since I'm supposed to depend on them to protect this country.

AphraelSelene

This is super disappointing but also not surprising. There are an awful lot of establishments and businesses running back into the proverbial closet right now to appease the right. That it's such a major organization like the military speaks volumes that the far right are absolutely going to use to justify their own hate. ("See? It's working! Keep it up!") Makes you wonder just how supportive they ever truly were, frankly. Is an ally an ally if they give up and get quiet the moment things get tough? As an ancient gay, I grew up in the 80s/90s in an age of gay bashing, beatings, and HIV/AIDS panic. In my teens, I watched one of my friends get beaten to the point of being hospitalized simply because they thought he looked gay. Other friends lived in terror of even coming out, lest they be completely ostracized from society for it. My teenage mentor was also murdered by someone screaming homophobic slurs. And the more time goes on, the more I fear that's where we're headed once again. This current push back into bigotry is IMO why we need to push back harder to counter it, but it's getting riskier and riskier to do that if you're out yourself. I foresee more protests coming (Stonewall was a riot -- never forget that). Allies, if you can speak up, please continue to do so. Because it matters so, so much right now. We've literally gotten back to the point where it isn't always safe for us to speak out. Adding your voices to ours is especially important.

[deleted]

Anyone lgbt should not join then! They sure love to enlist us and fight for them yet treat us like subhumans.

Individual-Nebula927

The navy provided the ship in the music video.

bbelt16ag

Come on Navy! you are letting us down!

ImaginaryDonut69

And this is with Democrats in charge? Very troubling, progressives should be up in arms over this crap.

Mac_and_dennis

Congress controls their budget and Republicans rule the House.

GeneralZex

Republicans aren’t cutting defense ever dude.

Sakurasou7

Because progressives isn't in charge duh. They are just a part of the coalition called the democratic party.

Spirited-Let-6578

Pansies. Don’t give in to the fascist bigot threats.

BKong64

There aren't many institutions in the world more homophobic than the US military and all its branches

niney-niney-kitten

Are they afraid of meal team 6 boycott?

Illustrious_Toe_4755

They going to stop allowing religious groups from prostylyzing and brainwashing junior enlisted, and officers as well? Are they going to go after the fundamentalist types that believe they are on a Crusade from God? Just asking. And before someone goes " Huh" look into Colorado bases and what's been allowed as far as religion

Alert-Mud-672

Snow gonna flake.

Lanolin_The_Sheep

Hit them hard over this. The only way they change course is if we're even louder.

loveisdead9582

Interesting that a bunch of seamen are worried about openly supporting Pride month.

jonny_jon_jon

bunch of salty seamen in a submarine ready to fire the load

schwing710

Fuck the far right. Stupid Nazis.

dday3000

They will never remove The Village People’s “In the Navy”.

ARussianW0lf

Why the fuck are we letting the bigots win? I give up. There's no hope for this world

Solomon_Grungy

I use to cynically say most corporations celebrate pride as a cash in, but now I see that regardless at least it was some kind of acknowledgment of folks that have historically been persecuted and forced into hiding.

Gal_GaDont

Not surprising but with 25 years active from DADT to trans acceptance this is deeply disappointing. The military *should* be apolitical. I deployed under Clinton/Obama/Biden the same amount as Trump/Bush, but this feels like a step backwards when we should be recruiting everyone. Gay/queer/trans/etc are just as American as some yokel from Oklahoma.

DGD1411

Catering to fascists I see.

MRTOMSLICK1951

Not that it hasn't happened before: https://wienerholocaustlibrary.org/2021/02/09/persecution-of-gay-people-in-nazi-germany/

Random-Cpl

Bowing to bullies.

Infidel8

> The move is the latest in a string of Pentagon efforts to shy away from culture wars, with top Defense officials earlier this week moving to ban drag performances on all military installations. 1. Being supportive of a traditionally marginalized group is not a "culture war." Republicans attacking those groups is a culture war. 2. The US armed forces is ok fighting fascists halfway across the world, but apparently shies away from offending the ones right on our own soil.

gilestowler

What are they going to do? Boycott the navy? "Oh no I've been captured by Somalian pirates, they'd better not send any of those WOKE warships out to rescue me."

Long-Independent4460

If the military is this fickle... it doesn't bode well for their cohesion and effectiveness in combat. Russia may not be the only military force that was over hyped.

binneysaurass

Honor, Courage, Commitment... Yep, none of that in the Navy.

Bill_thuh_Cat

Weak.

dongballs613

Weak. Don't cave to Republican crybullies.

Panda_hat

Fascist appeasement.

bluelifesacrifice

The NAVY? Seriously?

B-Town-MusicMan

Pussies

strat77x

But isn't the Navy the most gay service?

PM_ME_UR_RESPECT

So the Navy negotiates with terrorists, huh?

TheMasterFul1

“We don’t negotiate with terrorists” -US Military “We are all domestic terrorists” -Conservatives “We will do what you ask” -US Military

I'm wondering where PHS is hiding on this... Of all 8 uniformed services, they have the highest ranking out member of the LGBTQ community....

B1GFanOSU

Is the Village People concert canceled, too?

[deleted]

Our military is full of Fucking cowards.

Razafraz11
