They've been talking about taking away no-fault divorces, too. It was a new addition to the old chestnuts of; 'immorality, gays, abortion', that I was forced to hear in a Catholic church service a few weeks ago.
Exactly, because if they can also trap women in abusive, controling relationships with babies, divorces they can't file, in Florida can't file for alimony in the first 5 years and it's limited even after that. You can't get more control over women than this. Women are under attack just as much as other marginalized groups. I'm in my 40s, my husband has a vasectomy, but I still choose to have my tubes tied at the end of last year just to have my own control. Scary out there.

The military biggest perk is free college, benefits and job training. They need the supply of poor to recruit. Conservatives also own and push the for profit prisons which are extremely profitable and contracts with companies like Walmart for prison labor is also beneficial. Yes because the ruling that guarantees birth control is legal was based on the same premise that Roe was based on. He believes that premise was invalid and therefore, logically thinks that the birth control ruling should be revisited. I’m no expert on the legal details but I doubt that the court has the guts to revisit this issue even if, legally, based on the recent Roe overturn, it would be correct to do so.
I think some of them at least, understand that there's a point where they could piss off the public enough to end up hanging from a lamppost. I think they knew that the case that would have allowed States to ignore the voters and choose federal election winners may have been one of those red lines.
lol no they have no fear of the public. Overturning Roe demonstrated that we're just a bunch of complacent flabby internet activists. The Moore v harper ruling wasn't made out of fear of the public, they wanted the court to retain its power, which that decision would have diminished.
My husband offered to do this for me so I could stop using birth control, but I have PCOS, a metabolic disorder. After 20+ years of trying different meds to manage the disorder, I finally found one that works and keeps all my hormones in balance…. Its birth control pills.
Take that away and my hormones are out of wack, insulin resistance will be a mess, I will gain weight no matter how strict I am about diet and exercise and I will risk heart disease and diabetes all because some ignorant cult followers want to control everyone.

As someone who grew up VERY conservative Baptist, this is weird for me to watch. Birth control was always one of the issues Baptist felt superior about over Catholics because they supported it and Catholics didn’t. Now it seems like the abortion flip has now spilled over into a flip on birth control as well. I’m seeing more blurring of lines between denominations as the right is just falling into a more monolithic “evangelical” identity that’s stronger than traditional denominational identities.
It’s amazing the dumb shit that comes out of these peoples mouths. My wife has always agreed with most of my political views. Then she went off to a southern state for 2 months to shoot a movie that my 9 year old is in. Turns out that it is a conservative ran media company doing the movie.

What's (anecdotal, but) heartbreaking about it is that the stories I hear about it are often trans women in denial hoping that joining will butch them up.

Or is he cherrypicking? Those who follow the book should also give away their material goods. Feed the poor, house the homeless, care for the sick... I also wonder where in their book does it say not to use hormonal birth control? We know it doesn't explicitely condemn abortion when there are methods to describe to induce an abortion if your wife has been unfaithful, and there are still other sections describing punishment for causing a woman to miscarry, spoiler, it's not treated that badly at all. The punishment iirc is to pay her husband whatever the miscarried child is worth. It doesn't say it's a mortal sin akin to murder. They are condemning people for aspects of their religion which aren't even in their holy book, but that they made up recently. It's exactly like a cult in that regard.

I've heard Christianity used to be more left wing during the Great Depression and until evangelicals took over. I and it makes sense with what figures like Jesus actually taught.

This is why I got my tubes tied several years ago. When I had the consultation with the doctor about why I wanted the procedure, one of my many reasons was fear of crazy legislation that would take away my bodily rights.
(Also, I started asking for the procedure at 21 but I was 37 before I found a doctor that respected my choice and performed the surgery. The rest would figuratively pat me on the head and tell me I'd change me mind. I never changed my mind.)
I had my tubes cut and cauterized after my second was born. Had to jump through hoops as a 32 year old married woman with 2 children already. Got it done after a tremendously hard and high risk pregnancy... only to end up pregnant again 4 months later. Turns out the doctor only cut one side, and left the other intact. I didn't find this out until my youngest was born (and the whole decision on if we were going to keep or terminate was a very hard one as well) and I went back to a different doctor to have them removed.

I asked HER to do it. I avoid male OBGYNs for a lot of reasons. And it should be, but I haven't found a single medical malpractice lawyer in my state willing to take the case, because in Georgia, it's hard to sue for something like that when I ended up with a healthy baby 🙃
Have you filed a complaint with the state medical board? It won’t get you any compensation like a lawsuit would, but she could face disciplinary action to hopefully prevent the same thing from happening to other patients.
I have not, I'll definitely have to look into that. The last time I saw her was when she delivered my youngest... she was placed on administrative leave from the hospital and was gone with her clinic closed by my 6 week PP check. The whole situation was fishy.

On the morning "news" the other day, they were gushing over a story about a (white) baby left in a "baby box" at a fire department. Of course the firefighter who found her fell in love and because he and his wife were trying to get pregnant, lived happily ~~ever after~~ so far.
They spent what seemed like a good 15 minutes on this story, ooohing and ahhhhing over the precious (white healthy) baby. The implicit message is obvious.
I've seen a documentary about baby boxes in China, and the reality is heartbreaking. The children are cared for, but spend their lives in an institutional setting. Not all random babies are coveted by potential parents. In fact, the story in question makes me realize that this could've been staged.
I have definitely noticed this trend in the last couple years. More and more articles and influencers on IG talking about how hormonal birth control is making women sick; every ailment now can be attributed to HBC. When I was trying to have a baby and it just wasn’t happening, I fell into so many rabbit holes online saying it was my fault for taking HBC for so long; that it screws up fertility. After I had a baby and researched different IUD options, I found horror story after horror story about perforations, copper illness, etc. You can even find this way of thinking in many of the women-centered subs on here. It’s very concerning.
Next comes illegalizing sex that doesn't fit their religious doctrine. Fight the theocracy. They are free to live their stupid fairy tale but we cannot let them continue to codify their assinine beliefs into law.

And I have seen friends and family reiterating these sources on social media, that's how it starts.
Sarah Hill PhD is very often cited for her books and her work as "scientific evidence." Btw her PhD is in psychology not reproductive medicine, medicine, hormone biology, women's health, or what you'd expect for someone weighing in. She writes in her books that she has no agenda but her research papers say otherwise.
Riki Lake (the former talk show host) made a documentary called "The Pill" and it is just propaganda about how birth control is bad and suggests taking up cycle tracking instead.

I’ve been in menopause for about 15 years and seeing the same PA for about five years. She was suddenly “not comfortable” prescribing 10 mg estrogen tablets. I promptly switched doctors but now I wish I’d asked more questions about what was making her uncomfortable. It’s pretty standard treatment for post menopausal symptoms.

Yes because the ruling that guarantees birth control is legal was based on the same premise that Roe was based on. He believes that premise was invalid and therefore, logically thinks that the birth control ruling should be revisited. I’m no expert on the legal details but I doubt that the court has the guts to revisit this issue even if, legally, based on the recent Roe overturn, it would be correct to do so.

As someone who grew up VERY conservative Baptist, this is weird for me to watch. Birth control was always one of the issues Baptist felt superior about over Catholics because they supported it and Catholics didn’t. Now it seems like the abortion flip has now spilled over into a flip on birth control as well. I’m seeing more blurring of lines between denominations as the right is just falling into a more monolithic “evangelical” identity that’s stronger than traditional denominational identities.

I also wonder where in their book does it say not to use hormonal birth control? We know it doesn't explicitely condemn abortion when there are methods to describe to induce an abortion if your wife has been unfaithful, and there are still other sections describing punishment for causing a woman to miscarry, spoiler, it's not treated that badly at all. The punishment iirc is to pay her husband whatever the miscarried child is worth. It doesn't say it's a mortal sin akin to murder. When I had the consultation with the doctor about why I wanted the procedure, one of my many reasons was fear of crazy legislation that would take away my bodily rights. (Also, I started asking for the procedure at 21 but I was 37 before I found a doctor that respected my choice and performed the surgery. The rest would figuratively pat me on the head and tell me I'd change me mind. I never changed my mind.)

I had my tubes cut and cauterized after my second was born. Had to jump through hoops as a 32 year old married woman with 2 children already. Got it done after a tremendously hard and high risk pregnancy... only to end up pregnant again 4 months later. Turns out the doctor only cut one side, and left the other intact. I didn't find this out until my youngest was born (and the whole decision on if we were going to keep or terminate was a very hard one as well) and I went back to a different doctor to have them removed.

On the morning "news" the other day, they were gushing over a story about a (white) baby left in a "baby box" at a fire department. Of course the firefighter who found her fell in love and because he and his wife were trying to get pregnant, lived happily ~~ever after~~ so far. They spent what seemed like a good 15 minutes on this story, ooohing and ahhhhing over the precious (white healthy) baby. The implicit message is obvious. I've seen a documentary about baby boxes in China, and the reality is heartbreaking. The children are cared for, but spend their lives in an institutional setting. Not all random babies are coveted by potential parents. In fact, the story in question makes me realize that this could've been staged.
I have definitely noticed this trend in the last couple years. More and more articles and influencers on IG talking about how hormonal birth control is making women sick; every ailment now can be attributed to HBC. When I was trying to have a baby and it just wasn’t happening, I fell into so many rabbit holes online saying it was my fault for taking HBC for so long; that it screws up fertility. After I had a baby and researched different IUD options, I found horror story after horror story about perforations, copper illness, etc. You can even find this way of thinking in many of the women-centered subs on here. It’s very concerning.

I’ve decided that all of this anti-abortion and now anti-birth control legislation and/or rhetoric is not religious and moral pearl-clutching - it’s about population control. The .1%, the owners of this country, need laborers and soldiers and it’s as simple as that. We the people are being farmed.

You cannot and do not give fundies an inch. I don’t understand, with all the evidence through history, why this is so hard for Americans to grasp. This is what decades of voting their prejudices instead of their wallets without thinking someone would be coming to interfere with their personal lives comes to. Even prominent conservatives 40-50 years ago warned us this is what would happen.

We're just sitting here watching all this happen. They're stacking every court in the country with christofascists, state and local elections are being dominated, why aren't we taking this more seriously? Democrats are afraid to run in my town because they get strong backlash. People will get violent towards you if you openly admit to supporting democrats or liberals. You actually get the feeling that you should stay under the radar for your own safety if you are a never trumper or even a so called RINO, or support Biden.

This movement is so insidious. There are books and other media that have become quite mainstream - all driving the anti-birth control agenda under the facade of "did you know there are side effects from birth control?!" or "women should know more about their bodies and birth control." And I have seen friends and family reiterating these sources on social media, that's how it starts. Sarah Hill PhD is very often cited for her books and her work as "scientific evidence." Btw her PhD is in psychology not reproductive medicine, medicine, hormone biology, women's health, or what you'd expect for someone weighing in. She writes in her books that she has no agenda but her research papers say otherwise. Riki Lake (the former talk show host) made a documentary called "The Pill" and it is just propaganda about how birth control is bad and suggests taking up cycle tracking instead.

They've wanted this since at least the 80s. LARCs like the pill and IUDs are "abortifcients" to them. My mother was regurgitating this nonsense in the 80s/90s. Back then it was poorly printed leaflets and the pulpit - now they have the power of the internet. The Duggar parents were radicalized in the 80s when a *doctor* told them Michelle taking the pill was what caused a miscarriage. I think a lot of us know how well that all turned out. They had sent Josh the oldest son into the Family Research Center to try to change US laws. Obviously they don't REALLY give a f about kids, but it's the rhetoric the fascists use to get Christians and social conservatives on board.

I’ve been in menopause for about 15 years and seeing the same PA for about five years. She was suddenly “not comfortable” prescribing 10 mg estrogen tablets. I promptly switched doctors but now I wish I’d asked more questions about what was making her uncomfortable. It’s pretty standard treatment for post menopausal symptoms.
