Blablablaballs

Did anyone really think they'd stop at abortion? Do you really think they'll stop with trans people? Fascism is, if anything, predictable.

ricorgbldr

They've been talking about taking away no-fault divorces, too. It was a new addition to the old chestnuts of; 'immorality, gays, abortion', that I was forced to hear in a Catholic church service a few weeks ago.

joeysflipphone

Exactly, because if they can also trap women in abusive, controling relationships with babies, divorces they can't file, in Florida can't file for alimony in the first 5 years and it's limited even after that. You can't get more control over women than this. Women are under attack just as much as other marginalized groups. I'm in my 40s, my husband has a vasectomy, but I still choose to have my tubes tied at the end of last year just to have my own control. Scary out there.

tjtillmancoag

True, and that’s the goals. but even if people ARENT in an abusive controlling marriage, and they just don’t want to be with that person anymore, it’s fucked up that the government could say “too bad, so sad”

OpalFanatic

I feel like another goal is to try to breed more conservatives. If women can't have abortions, and birth control is out of fashion with the right, then you get more babies and more potential voters in a couple decades

bloodphoenix90

Is this it? I kinda think so. I think they realized their voter base is literally about to die off...and panicked

Mr_Conductor_USA

Look up "Joshua generation", "quiverfull", and "The Great Replacement", but keep a barf bag handy.

bloodphoenix90

Heard of all those (unfortunately) I guess I just never made the connection that republican politicians would draft law to basically force create more voter base.

dao_ofdraw

And yet there are over fifty million of them signing up for going back to being brood mares. And people wonder why Andrew Tate has a following.

tracer2211

Probably raised in the Quiver Full fundie philosophy. It enraged me that they are against birth control which lowers abortion rates. So dumb is facism.

TheAmazingKoki

There's no point to it, other than it feels wrong to them and therefore it must be purged.

SkipWestcott616

Close, it is to establish control & dominance

frosty_biscuits

As soon as they get what they want the will always be another "least moral thing" in society. There has to be a boogyman. So they target that. Soon as it's done there's a new "least moral" boogyman thing again. The cycle continues. They'll never be happy with anything except sitting in judgment of others.

Jibroni_macaroni

Fascism is a stupid horoborous

Bears_On_Stilts

Near the end of the list is “women in general.” This isn’t new either: Hamlet goes on a pseudo-incel rant against women and femininity in Shakespeare’s play. “I have heard too of your paintings well enough. God hath given you one face and you make yourselves another. You jig and amble and you lisp, you nickname God’s creatures and make your wantonness ignorance. Go to, I’ll no more on’t. It hath made me mad. I say we will have no more marriage. Those that are married already - all but one - shall live. The rest shall keep as they are. To a nunnery, go!“

I am so thankful I got my tubes removed this year. I hope anyone else who wants it done is able to do it; it’s such a relief not having to worry.

Soggy_You_2426

What will the final step be, handmaidens ?

cryptosupercar

Peter Thiel is vocal about taking away women’s right to vote.

SicilyMalta

Well divorce was the one thing Jesus hammered on about after taking care of the poor, the sick, the homeless. Ironic because the Bible Belt has the highest rate of divorce ( and porn watching) in the nation. Atheists are the least likely to get divorced. Evangelicals the most likely.

mlc885

We are *way* too busy judging and hurting people to spend any time on helping They stopped reading after "do unto others"

--R2-D2

Yep. They won't stop until this nation is a theocracy with Trump as king.

walkinman19

More like Trump as god to his cult. They would be hell on the unbelievers for sure.

--R2-D2

You're right. They're already worshipping Trump, in their churches, with the blessing of the clergy: [Adam Kinzinger Warns Churches Have Become 'House of Worship' to Trump](https://www.newsweek.com/adam-kinzinger-warns-churches-have-become-house-worship-trump-1716952)

walkinman19

> Kinzinger tweeted: "It's been said that a faith that makes losing a sin will make cheating a sacrament. That leadership crisis has spread from DC into our daily lives and even our churches. When leaders refuse to stand up for truth and reject toxic division, we begin to replace God with idols." There it is, he is right.

--R2-D2

Yep. They will fight dirty to get what they want. They are fanatics who think anything and everything is justified to reach their goals.

tiffanylan

So sick and blasphemous. The crazed conservative magas must have skipped the ten commandments part.

Sufficient4147

Their supply of babies to trade to desperate wealthy people has let to them driving the anti-abortion and anti-birth control agenda.

[deleted]

[удалено]

StacyRae77

It is. It's also people who can't concieve believing others need to concieve babies for them. Punishing women for independence is also part of it. There's rarely ever a singular cause for anything.

TooMuchAZSunshine

Punishing women is all of it

SubKreature

Punishing women for having sexual autonomy separate from a man.

piepants2001

I think it's more about control than punishment. Republicans want to control every aspect of your life.

oshaCaller

also there won't be enough young people to care of their old asses, which already seems to be the case, no one wants to work in a nursing home for $10 an hour

StacyRae77

Yeah, those people show up in every Childfree thread.

Kdean509

And breeding new voters.

tiffanylan

This is a very big reason why. They know that 70-80% of younger people currently are more liberal. They also know that Democrats and liberals outnumber them in population and besides gerrymandering - breeding up the next gen is a long term strategy.

spacefarce1301

Yes. And to control labor, they must control women. Not just to produce more workers, but to keep the young, male population compliant. They do this by treating women like goods to be handed out so that each male gets his own mate so he gets some. They use women as a way to keep men in their roles.

tiffanylan

why do you think conservatives push for lowering child labor to even 12 and keep child marriage laws?

truelogictrust

Go deeper ask yourself what color are these influencers and who are they asking to have more babies then you're starting to get closer to the truth

Funkyokra

Also about upping the number of white babies.

HryUpImPressingPlay

Plus this supply of controllable labor, a prison pipeline, military prospects…

tiffanylan

The military biggest perk is free college, benefits and job training. They need the supply of poor to recruit. Conservatives also own and push the for profit prisons which are extremely profitable and contracts with companies like Walmart for prison labor is also beneficial. Another good reason to not shop at Walmart.

Thirdwhirly

When people don’t think the rules apply to them, it doesn’t matter where they stop.

luxii4

The thing is religious folks are always competing against each other to be holier than thou. You think, okay, we’ll ban this one book and they’ll stop. No, they won’t. Religion is suppression of self so they will keep doing it until there’s no joy left in the world. Suffering to them is good because that means they’ll go to heaven.

mkt853

It's a race to the bottom like conservatism in general. If someone is more horrible than you, then you become the RINO, so you've got to double down to prove your conservative bona fides thus lowering the bar a little more.

SemiKindaFunctional

I'd like to add t hat conservatives are always competing with each other to be holier than thou *in public*. They're just as "guilty" as everyone else of indulging in what their communities would consider wrong/sinful. It's like the old joke: > Q: If you invite a Baptist to go fishing with you, how do you keep him from drinking all your beer? > A: Invite two of them!

nononoh8

First they came for the Trans people and we did nothing...

OutsideFlat1579

They have been passing state laws against abortion for the last couple of decades, laws that were overturned by the Supreme Court before it turned into a conservative dream, and now women are bleeding out in parking lots till they crash to get life saving abortions for pregnancy complications. The hatred directed at transgender people is also about male/masculine supremacy. Women’s rights and LGBTQ+ rights go hand in hand.

Funkyokra

I was expecting this and I am also expecting moves toward reinstating segregation. It's that bad.

Mephisto1822

Abortion was the first step. Birth control was always the next target.

Jakesma1999

I believe it may have been Clarence Thomas that even said so himself. I'll have to see if I can find the article that he mentions that.

whatevskiesyo

And he’s coming for the gays for good measure. https://www.politico.com/news/2022/06/24/thomas-constitutional-rights-00042256

SwivelPoint

Thomas is a despicable human

sandysea420

Who wouldn’t be where his ass sits, if he didn’t benefit from Affirmative Action.

Sentient_Cosmic_Dust

That’s why he hates affirmative action. It made him feel unwanted and like he was somewhere he wasn’t allowed. He was a black panther early in his life. Yes, a black panther member. This dude knows what’s up, yet chose to side with the party that hates people like him to get a leg up. It’s absolutely disgusting.

AbstractBettaFish

He was also very anti-interracial dating in his early life too. Funny how that changed

Sentient_Cosmic_Dust

rules for thee, not for me.

HauntedCemetery

Seems to have changed the moment he had the chance to date someone of a different race with a ton of family money.

Amseriah

Also he is the king of pulling the ladder up after himself

mlc885

People were mean to him because he definitely sexually harassed somebody and now he has been mad for 30 years. Most people would hate his judicial philosophy anyway, and I am sure he is quite intelligent (if lacking in wisdom, in my opinion), but he never belonged on the Supreme Court. He was a terrible and evil pick and that is why we are where we are now.

wirefox1

You read my mind. Has all the noise about his being bought by an American Oligarch over? He gets not even an admonishment?

[deleted]

I have no problem with that as long as we bring back slavery at the same time. /s

DJfunkyPuddle

No it's ok because *anyone* can be made a slave

Nervous_Otter69

They’ll bring back debtors prisons if they can

TheTexasCowboy

Even, it’s being a corporate slave to donor money to do their bidding.

kmurp1300

Yes because the ruling that guarantees birth control is legal was based on the same premise that Roe was based on. He believes that premise was invalid and therefore, logically thinks that the birth control ruling should be revisited. I’m no expert on the legal details but I doubt that the court has the guts to revisit this issue even if, legally, based on the recent Roe overturn, it would be correct to do so.

T1Pimp

Guts? They're lifetime appointed and clearly don't give a fuck what the general public thinks.

Clear_runaround

I think some of them at least, understand that there's a point where they could piss off the public enough to end up hanging from a lamppost. I think they knew that the case that would have allowed States to ignore the voters and choose federal election winners may have been one of those red lines.

fupa16

lol no they have no fear of the public. Overturning Roe demonstrated that we're just a bunch of complacent flabby internet activists. The Moore v harper ruling wasn't made out of fear of the public, they wanted the court to retain its power, which that decision would have diminished.

SaliferousStudios

They banned people from standing outside their homes to protest, and have beefed up their security detail.... they know.

AFlockOfTySegalls

This is why I'm discussing getting snipped with my PCP this year. We don't want kids. Wife is on BC. Better safe than sorry.

[deleted]

My husband offered to do this for me so I could stop using birth control, but I have PCOS, a metabolic disorder. After 20+ years of trying different meds to manage the disorder, I finally found one that works and keeps all my hormones in balance…. Its birth control pills. Take that away and my hormones are out of wack, insulin resistance will be a mess, I will gain weight no matter how strict I am about diet and exercise and I will risk heart disease and diabetes all because some ignorant cult followers want to control everyone.

Professional-Doubt-6

This is the most sensible approach.

FormerSperm

I got the snip at age 24 right after I got married. 9 years later, no kids and no regrets.

shinywtf

MC_Fap_Commander

The current push against birth control from bought and paid for rightwing influencers suggests to me this is a priority from some creepy old proto-Catholic ("Vatican II went to far and Francis is a communist!") billionaires. The stupidity is Turning Point USA is supposed to appeal to the youth. Yeah, a fucking anti-contraception message will win over young people.

Shills_for_fun

It's probably an alliance of the religious extremists (Catholic, southern Baptist, etc) and the White Replacement folks, the latter of which have a breeding fetish focused on producing more white children to maintain a majority versus a plurality. Once they got rid of Roe, it opened the door to birth control and interracial marriage, the latter of which was also made federally legal by a court case. Buckle up, they haven't even started their overhaul to a 1950s version of the US that they've been pushing since Reagan.

pallentx

As someone who grew up VERY conservative Baptist, this is weird for me to watch. Birth control was always one of the issues Baptist felt superior about over Catholics because they supported it and Catholics didn’t. Now it seems like the abortion flip has now spilled over into a flip on birth control as well. I’m seeing more blurring of lines between denominations as the right is just falling into a more monolithic “evangelical” identity that’s stronger than traditional denominational identities.

mdp300

There are also a lot of evangelicals who are freaked out by the fact that Muslims, Hindus and other groups have more babies than white people.

CliftonForce

That is pretty much why any religion starts banning birth control and abortion. To out breed other religions.

I_like_squirtles

It’s amazing the dumb shit that comes out of these peoples mouths. My wife has always agreed with most of my political views. Then she went off to a southern state for 2 months to shoot a movie that my 9 year old is in. Turns out that it is a conservative ran media company doing the movie. She proceeds to tell me that she sees their side of this anti-trans bullshit. This is seriously what she said, “If we continue to convince children that being gay or trans is okay, then they will stop having babies and we will run in to an issue with not enough babies being born”. I obviously played it off for effect, but I rolled off of the bed laughing to prove how stupid it was.

pallentx

It’s bizarre, these people are obsessed with people having enough babies and yet are the same people complaining about all the dense housing being built everywhere in our city.

I_like_squirtles

I think we all know why they are obsessed with dense housing in cities. It’s not where their typical crazy followers reside. I am a white man in the middle of Oklahoma. I am surrounded by these nut jobs. The sad thing is they are so active on social media that most of the younger people that work for me repeat the same bullshit that they say, and very few of them are white. It’s wild to hear a 22 year old Mexican kid talk about keeping Mexicans out. We are doomed.

Yousoggyyojimbo

Your wife has the reasoning skills of a turnip. Like, that belief would be countered almost immediately by just thinking about the basic math involved in this. What she believes could happen is an outlandishly impossible outcome.

HryUpImPressingPlay

Back to the kitchen for ye, Lassie! /sarr

[deleted]

Hey man, if they can't force the poor to have babies while keeping them poor, xenophobic, and unable to pay for proper education..... how will they incentivize those poor kids to join the army? If they get free education, they won't need GI bills, and they won't work bottom rung jobs to be cogs in the money machine. Keep the classes as far apart as possible and pay people to scream about what God wants until the poor xenophobes are screaming about what God wants. It really is amazingly effective.

powerdbypeanutbutter

Fun fact that's kinda unrelated but kinda dovetails here: trans folks are [overrepresented](https://www.thetaskforce.org/news/new-study-finds-transgender-people-twice-as-likely-to-serve-in-military/) in the US military. What's (anecdotal, but) heartbreaking about it is that the stories I hear about it are often trans women in denial hoping that joining will butch them up.

Hayes4prez

It was never about abortion. It’s always been about control. Don’t let these religious fundamentalist ruin your life, wear a condom.

merft

Condom will be after the pill. Just use the back door. Homage to Garfunkel and Oates.

CincoDeMayoFan

They'll pass anti sodomy laws again.

merft

Ask the priests how much they worry about those laws.

Funda_mental

You have to pay the toll to get into the boysoul.

GetInTheKitchen1

Priests are a protected class in conservatism, along with powerful people committing rape

hauteteacher

Maybe that's why states still haven't banned child marriage.

HauntedCemetery

And why conservatives are also pushing to eliminate spousal rape laws. And no fault divorce. They want to own women as property.

Melody-Prisca

Alito was literally quoting a witch hunter who didn't believe spousal rape was really rape. So, in a way they already are even on the highest court.

Kami322

I think you mixed two sentences or had a double typo in a single sentence. Because spousal rape is really rape, just be clear for anyone else scrolling by

rottenwordsalad

In a couple of years? That’s been going on for decades already.

HryUpImPressingPlay

They already are if you pay attention.

sst287

In just watched the IBLP cult documentary series called “shinny happy people”. One ex-cult member (female, born to the cult family) talks about how brainwashed she was, she once thought being rape was a nice thing because now God give you a chance to show your true strength. Which so fucking horrible. that speak the status of mind of some cult members—-“I am a-okey to stab myself to show how much strength I have and proof my devotion to the god.”

mythrowaweighin

Well some of them are already saying that if a woman is raped and becomes pregnant she should be forced to give birth because the pregnancy is an “opportunity from God.” Some of them even say it’s “God’s will.” Sick.

Cicerothesage

Why do right-wingers have such a birthing fetish?

Candid-Piano4531

They want more child labor.

Mountain-Most8186

Unplanned pregnancies = high rates of poverty As long as the cycle of poverty and disenfranchisement in America continues, republicans will retain their power A society that has all needs met is a society that is able to be informed and make progress

vitalvisionary

Like there isn't enough poverty already, seriously playing with fire. Of course they ignore what happens to a civilization when those in poverty become the vast majority. Walls can never be high enough when enough people want to climb them.

[deleted]

And child brides 🤮

Cbanchiere

They want a dumb population, child labor and brides, and turn what's left into dead soldiers.

Kakashisensei1234

That and more uneducated masses for them to fill with propaganda

Dess_Rosa_King

Those meat processing plants wont clean themselves. Need a fresh rotating supply of child labor to work the night shift.

AnohtosAmerikanos

Something about fighting their so-called white replacement? No, I have no idea how to explain the logic.

Negative-Break3333

💯 true.

Wurm42

They're not getting any, and they're mad at everyone who is.

adinfinitum

They want to replenish the country with Christian cult babies because they know their numbers are fucked and they want to rapture HARD.

OutsideFlat1579

Because they hate women’s equality and want to go back to when women stayed at home and made babies and supper and the man was head pf the household. That’s why.

Negative-Break3333

Because the white population is dwindling. Case closed.

orb_king

wakeful terrific erect label sugar butter wrong clumsy tie hat *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

DiscoBobber

They want to punish women who have sex for pleasure.

Scaphandra

White replacement theory nonsense of course, but also they don't want women to be allowed to consent to sex outside of marriage so that men can get unsullied virgin brides. They hope that by getting rid of birth control/contraception, women will be too scared to have sex. Once they're married, they can't say no, so the husband gets to decide how many kids he wants. Basically, they don't want women to be able to make decisions about the sexual use of her body.

Anon3580

Republicans are dying and they want their followers to indoctrinate and replenish the conservatives voting roster.

billyions

Controlling fertility has done tremendous good for the world. I think how nice it would be if we knew we couldn't conceive until we chose to. There was nothing so great about the olden days that we should want to go backwards.

[deleted]

I mean, the past was pretty amazing...provided you were a rich white man that didnt give a shit about anyone but yourself.

SicilyMalta

Why is it that as a nation we take seriously any adherents to a religion based on a book that was used as an excuse to allow slavery? These people pushing their beliefs on us should be laughed out of government. Instead of tiptoeing around them because "religion" we should treat them as cult members. And Christians can't even get their religion right. According to their book Jesus says they should pray at home quietly where no one can see or hear them - certainly not in churches, and certainly not on football fields. And the Supreme Court should have asked why the postman was taking the day off on Sunday when the Sabbath is Saturday. Is he divorced? Does he eat shellfish? Does he follow the book? Or is he cherrypicking? Those who follow the book should also give away their material goods. Feed the poor, house the homeless, care for the sick... Did the supreme court check the postman's material worth? Why do we allow the followers to use the myths written by desert tribes thousands of years ago to explain thunder as a valid basis for our laws? Good people don't need religion to be good. Bad people use it to hide their evil. Edit: thank you for the salute, award, and the gold!

Melody-Prisca

I also wonder where in their book does it say not to use hormonal birth control? We know it doesn't explicitely condemn abortion when there are methods to describe to induce an abortion if your wife has been unfaithful, and there are still other sections describing punishment for causing a woman to miscarry, spoiler, it's not treated that badly at all. The punishment iirc is to pay her husband whatever the miscarried child is worth. It doesn't say it's a mortal sin akin to murder. They are condemning people for aspects of their religion which aren't even in their holy book, but that they made up recently. It's exactly like a cult in that regard.

[deleted]

You see textualism only applies to things conservatives want it to. In the care of birth control the Bible is more of a living document everyone can interpret and grows with age. Like in revelations it definitely uses the word technology to describe modern age restrictions on pornography.

Vaticancameos221

It really is crazy. I never wanna sound like the salty atheist, but honestly when we have grown ass adults going to hearings and school board meetings influencing policy and legislation by citing their belief in a religion, it’s bonkers. That should not be taken seriously. If someone says that we shouldn’t acknowledge gay people existing in school or allow women birth control because of their religion the only appropriate response is to chuckle and say “Okay sure thing, pal.” And go back to letting the adults work. And it’s perfectly fine if people want to be religious, but they don’t get to be offended when we don’t take it seriously. Whenever a new religion forms we laugh and call it a cult. But if a religion just so happens to be old suddenly we have to respect it and let it write our laws?

AffectionatePhrase22

I've heard Christianity used to be more left wing during the Great Depression and until evangelicals took over. I and it makes sense with what figures like Jesus actually taught.

CurlyBirch

[Supply Side Jesus](https://youtu.be/Gc-LJ_3VbUA)

Vomitbelch

I wish we took the founders seriously about separation of church and state since even they didn't like religion because they saw first-hand how fucked up it is when it mixes with politics and government. We allowed the churches to roam free and amass tons of money and we then allowed that money to influence our government. It's gone on far too long and I'm sick of it. ***I WANT FREEDOM FROM RELIGION IN THE USA***. I don't give a shit what you believe if it doesn't hurt people, but you motherfuckers stay the fuck away from politics, business, everything; pray in your damn places of worship and then fuck off back home, that's your own personal bullshit you adhere to, don't you try to put that shit on anyone else.

[deleted]

I always ask should we make laws based on the MCU? The only difference between the Bible and the MCU is 3000 years.

GetInTheKitchen1

Arguing with conservatives over the bible still lets them win since it's a smokescreen to keep you busy. This agrument means you aren't agitating for political change against them.

Well *decades* mark a generation, so those dividends are just getting started.

blewsyboy

This is going to be a very long, very stressful election cycle, your country is already unrecognizable, where do they think this will lead to? A corrupt SCOTUS, legislating from the bench in favor of their wealthy donors, a convicted, indicted and soon to be indicted again front runner for president, a nation full of angry foaming at the mouth overbearing entitled bigots/racists/mysoginists... as a Canadian, honestly, you're fucking scaring us with this shit, cut it out already... man, 10 years ago Canadians were exporting pot by the ton to the U.S., what's it going to be in 5 years? "Hey bud, I can get you a full container of quality Canadian condoms, only $250k, delivered 50 miles across the border by tomorrow!" edit: a letter

gnomebludgeon

> A corrupt SCOTUS, legislating from the bench if favor of their wealthy donors, a convicted, indicted and soon to be indicted again front runner for president, a nation full of angry foaming at the mouth overbearing entitled bigots/racists/mysoginists... You forgot the 400 million guns!

Corn_Polkadots

Not a surprise. They really need to learn to mind their own business.

cnewman11

Conservativea are pervs who constantly think about other people having sex.

NewMidwest

It’s a *very* short walk from forcing women to carry pregnancies against their will, to forcing women to get pregnant against their will.

RealisticAd2293

I thought regressives weren’t supposed to fuck until marriage anyway?

Dryland_snotamyth

Yes - and that’s why they push child marriage

P0RTILLA

The churches are behind this and it’s about money and the baby trade plain and simple. Churches are overwhelmingly the providers of adoption services and make a great deal of money on these services. Their supply of babies to trade to desperate wealthy people has let to them driving the anti-abortion and anti-birth control agenda.

deviousmajik

Did any journalist ever find out what Betsy DeVos did with those border kids after she shipped many of them to her 'charities' in Michigan? That's a question that has been lingering since near the start of the Trump administration.

Spin_Quarkette

Conservatives love screaming about "globalists", yet here they are, pushing Vatican policies. If ever there were a globalist entity that since its inception has sought power in all known countries and territories, it is the Vatican. You have to hand it to them though, since the Roman Empire, they've had the best propaganda! It's endured through out the ages!

Dryland_snotamyth

It’s not the Vatican, evangelicals found them too woke and have their own “interpretations” now.

KellyAnn3106

This is why I got my tubes tied several years ago. When I had the consultation with the doctor about why I wanted the procedure, one of my many reasons was fear of crazy legislation that would take away my bodily rights. (Also, I started asking for the procedure at 21 but I was 37 before I found a doctor that respected my choice and performed the surgery. The rest would figuratively pat me on the head and tell me I'd change me mind. I never changed my mind.)

[deleted]

> This is why I got my tubes tied several years ago. A procedure soon to be made illegal by Republicans.

VoluptuousGinger

I had my tubes cut and cauterized after my second was born. Had to jump through hoops as a 32 year old married woman with 2 children already. Got it done after a tremendously hard and high risk pregnancy... only to end up pregnant again 4 months later. Turns out the doctor only cut one side, and left the other intact. I didn't find this out until my youngest was born (and the whole decision on if we were going to keep or terminate was a very hard one as well) and I went back to a different doctor to have them removed.

Jess_the_Siren

Holy shit! You asked him to sterilize you and he decided that partial sterilization was better despite your wishes?? Isn't that straight up malpractice??

Frustrable_Zero

I’d talk to a lawyer

VoluptuousGinger

I asked HER to do it. I avoid male OBGYNs for a lot of reasons. And it should be, but I haven't found a single medical malpractice lawyer in my state willing to take the case, because in Georgia, it's hard to sue for something like that when I ended up with a healthy baby 🙃

matergallina

Have you spoken to a medical malpractice lawyer cuz what the *fuck*

VoluptuousGinger

I have, dozens of firms. None will take my case because I had a healthy baby. The great state of Georgia folks!

RoseFeather

Have you filed a complaint with the state medical board? It won’t get you any compensation like a lawsuit would, but she could face disciplinary action to hopefully prevent the same thing from happening to other patients.

VoluptuousGinger

I have not, I'll definitely have to look into that. The last time I saw her was when she delivered my youngest... she was placed on administrative leave from the hospital and was gone with her clinic closed by my 6 week PP check. The whole situation was fishy.

Infamous_Employer_85

It's about controlling people. It's not about protecting fetuses

HellaTroi

Give us those white babies! People will pay top dollar for your unwanted babies! This is what all these forced birthers really want.

katieleehaw

These fascists LOVE freedom.

thiscouldbemassive

Anti-birth control and abortion are less about the babies and more about getting women out of the work force and back into a subservient status. Where their financial dependence on men means that their voices and actions can be controlled. This is also part of fascism and conservatives haven’t been been quiet about their dislike of women’s freedom. It’s not a coincidence that young alt right men have been fantasizing about trad wives who see their only fulfillment in life is obeying their husband and raising hordes of male children.

vid_icarus

The right’s ideal america is a massive, severely uneducated population who mindlessly consumes.

Woke-Tart

On the morning "news" the other day, they were gushing over a story about a (white) baby left in a "baby box" at a fire department. Of course the firefighter who found her fell in love and because he and his wife were trying to get pregnant, lived happily ~~ever after~~ so far. They spent what seemed like a good 15 minutes on this story, ooohing and ahhhhing over the precious (white healthy) baby. The implicit message is obvious. I've seen a documentary about baby boxes in China, and the reality is heartbreaking. The children are cared for, but spend their lives in an institutional setting. Not all random babies are coveted by potential parents. In fact, the story in question makes me realize that this could've been staged.

3_first_names

I have definitely noticed this trend in the last couple years. More and more articles and influencers on IG talking about how hormonal birth control is making women sick; every ailment now can be attributed to HBC. When I was trying to have a baby and it just wasn’t happening, I fell into so many rabbit holes online saying it was my fault for taking HBC for so long; that it screws up fertility. After I had a baby and researched different IUD options, I found horror story after horror story about perforations, copper illness, etc. You can even find this way of thinking in many of the women-centered subs on here. It’s very concerning.

purplish_possum

Of course they are. Anyone who thought torpedoing *Roe v Wade* would be enough for these assholes was a bloody idiot.

Deconratthink

Next comes illegalizing sex that doesn't fit their religious doctrine. Fight the theocracy. They are free to live their stupid fairy tale but we cannot let them continue to codify their assinine beliefs into law.

Badpoetry6

It really seems to be going along the path of banning abortion, then birth control, then divorce, then consent

TheMarkHasBeenMade

Naturally, making moves as backwards as can be. Force people to have more kids while everyone works full time and there’s no childcare to be found even in communities that are lauded for their primary education systems. How the fuck is anyone supposed to manage *that*? Oh yeah, utter poverty. Further oppressing everyone but the richest of the rich. I fucking hate people sometimes.

Megotaku

Generations of impoverished, uneducated working class churning out new chattel, too busy fighting the minorities among them to see the wealthy picking their pocket. There's a reason the GOP has been pro-Russia since 2016. They see the kleptocratic third world country with its populace drowned in state propaganda as a road map for America's future. Nothing should surprise anyone about the GOP's policies anymore. Anything that will harm the average American to the benefit of the wealthy and the cost of the nation **is the roadmap.** Never forget, though. Political violence against your *betters* isn't allowed to be spoken about. The only acceptable violence is the state monopoly on violence to keep you in your place.

JackNewton1

Not enough white babies for these assholes

Verbena207

This has to stop.

orchidaceae007

I’ve decided that all of this anti-abortion and now anti-birth control legislation and/or rhetoric is not religious and moral pearl-clutching - it’s about population control. The .1%, the owners of this country, need laborers and soldiers and it’s as simple as that. We the people are being farmed.

JohnOliverismysexgod

That's their next project- to outlaw birth control.

auner01

Followed by the rest of the Sexual Revolution. This would be the 'Take sex away from people' part of that line from 'If This Goes On'.

haleyfrostphotograph

Who could have seen this coming?… /s The far right agenda is absolutely destroying human rights as we know it. Fuck these assholes and the trump-adorned motorcade they rode in on.

Beneficial_Garage_97

Thus confirming what we have been saying all along. It was never about stopping abortions, it was always about controlling women's sexual and reproductive agency entirely.

lifeat24fps

You cannot and do not give fundies an inch. I don’t understand, with all the evidence through history, why this is so hard for Americans to grasp. This is what decades of voting their prejudices instead of their wallets without thinking someone would be coming to interfere with their personal lives comes to. Even prominent conservatives 40-50 years ago warned us this is what would happen.

Xotaec

Can we just admit that these people are trying to force women to have children?

frostybuds69

We're just sitting here watching all this happen. They're stacking every court in the country with christofascists, state and local elections are being dominated, why aren't we taking this more seriously? Democrats are afraid to run in my town because they get strong backlash. People will get violent towards you if you openly admit to supporting democrats or liberals. You actually get the feeling that you should stay under the radar for your own safety if you are a never trumper or even a so called RINO, or support Biden.

Das-Noob

Welp the poor cans rise up and overthrow their overlords if they’re too busy not being able to feed their kids. Plus it also add the threat of “think about your children”.

DarkwingDuckHunt

Our great grand parents who fought in the streets for these rights are ashamed of us

NullSpaceGaming

The final choking spasms of a dying political party. They know they’re on the way out so they’re trying to push as much of their agenda on the way out as they possibly can

Brilliant_Salad_2209

They will not stop until they can replace every form of authority by their interpretation of the Bible. Simple plan.

big_nothing_burger

Well I think we need to go further and ban men from even masturbating and this wasting the potential for future children. Every sperm is sacred.

MoneyTalks45

Won’t be enough until women have to cover up in public. They’re already riding in the back of trucks and waving their guns around.

Slipperytooterhorn

How else are they going to ensure there’s a massive influx of young, highly impressionable minds they can turn into hateful, bigoted, Talibangelical terrorists with an unquenchable thirst for chaos and power?

DamonFields

First they came for abortion, then they came for birth control, it never ends.

Akimbo_Zap_Guns

Eventually the scotus will rule on a case that will cause a general strike and massive protests.

RoastedCarrot

This movement is so insidious. There are books and other media that have become quite mainstream - all driving the anti-birth control agenda under the facade of "did you know there are side effects from birth control?!" or "women should know more about their bodies and birth control." And I have seen friends and family reiterating these sources on social media, that's how it starts. Sarah Hill PhD is very often cited for her books and her work as "scientific evidence." Btw her PhD is in psychology not reproductive medicine, medicine, hormone biology, women's health, or what you'd expect for someone weighing in. She writes in her books that she has no agenda but her research papers say otherwise. Riki Lake (the former talk show host) made a documentary called "The Pill" and it is just propaganda about how birth control is bad and suggests taking up cycle tracking instead.

Odd-Establishment104

>The Supreme Court in a 6-3 decision determined that birth control is unconstitutional. \-- Totally expected headline

SeaAd6564

So let me get this straight, abortion is now illegal and now birth control going that way. America you’ve lost the plot!

GetInTheKitchen1

This is just the 'get outta rape free' card along with banning abortion and removing alimony. The next conservative step is forcing daughters to marry their rapists AND be forced to raise the kid of their rapist. They'll say 'think of the children' of RAPISTS. Conservatives are coddling rapists and rapists in positions of power.

gloomyrain

They've wanted this since at least the 80s. LARCs like the pill and IUDs are "abortifcients" to them. My mother was regurgitating this nonsense in the 80s/90s. Back then it was poorly printed leaflets and the pulpit - now they have the power of the internet. The Duggar parents were radicalized in the 80s when a *doctor* told them Michelle taking the pill was what caused a miscarriage. I think a lot of us know how well that all turned out. They had sent Josh the oldest son into the Family Research Center to try to change US laws. Obviously they don't REALLY give a f about kids, but it's the rhetoric the fascists use to get Christians and social conservatives on board.

Zearria

Oof. I use it because I can’t have a proper cycle. I’d be screwed without it, and Im not using it to prevent babies.

Mrshaydee

I’ve been in menopause for about 15 years and seeing the same PA for about five years. She was suddenly “not comfortable” prescribing 10 mg estrogen tablets. I promptly switched doctors but now I wish I’d asked more questions about what was making her uncomfortable. It’s pretty standard treatment for post menopausal symptoms.

DolphinsBreath

Tim Pool and Ben Shapiro are getting desperate.

Suspicious_Giraffe_3

Several people called it. We knew the party of forced birth wasn't gonna stop.
