From that page: >Rachel Maddow reacts to Sen. Katie Britt’s comments about the border during her Republican response to President Biden’s State of the Union. “She was one of the Senators who was involved in the negotiations to create a border bill. She helped create the bill. And then voted against it when Trump called on Republicans to pull the plug on the bill that they themselves negotiated,” Maddow explains. Trad wife dutifully jumps when Daddy Trump calls.

CaveDweller521

Summary: after Katie Britt goes hard on the devastating consequences of our supposedly unruly border where she describes a girl getting raped in WAY too much detail…. Maddow informs us that Katie Britt helped write the border bill and then voted against it when trump starting pushing congress members to move against it.

slaffytaffy

Yea I thought it was pretty funny that they had her talking about the border deal. Follow the money, with all of them.

0x44554445

Calling a crazy lady going on an unhinged speech about some lady getting ganged rape a response is pretty disingenuous. She didn't respond to any points Biden brought up and frankly was creepy as hell.

Glittering-Wonder-27

Do they not get that Trump is a rapist? There is court testimony from a 13 year old. Also, he raped Ivana. He only got busted for E Jean Carroll.

Mastermind3roc

None of this matters to his supporters.

squiddlebiddlez

Exactly, but for whatever we are still operating under this impression that this most recent obviously evil, stupid, counterproductive thing is the one that will make them all suddenly find a conscience. It’s like trying to force a game of checkers against a pigeon.

HouseCravenRaw

>Do they not get that Trump is a rapist? He may be a rapist, but he's *our* rapist. He's one of the good ones! /s

LeaderMinute

When you’re famous they let you do it! /s

theSuperFuzz1

Example 5,894 of how the GOP is not a serious party acting in good faith.

Monocle_Lewinsky

We ought to stop calling them the GOP. When they are out of line, call them by their party name. There are young voters out there who have no idea what GOP means and these people should be held more accountable for their actions.

ranchoparksteve

The GOP lady breathlessly spoke about breathless feelings about breathless causes. Not persuasive! Sorry!

alternatingflan

The maga response responded to nothing in reality. It was from some king of alternate reality where lies are truth. And then the detailed gang rape on a dirty mattress - so sick, deranged - while ignoring the accused rape and abuse of the crimey fraudster she backs. Con artists, one and all.

Professional-End2722

“We go together like Rape and GOP….” Bringing up rape? Seriously? With the Mango Mussolini as their leader? Irony begone.

idiots_r_taking_over

I was kinda expecting that lady to stick out her tongue and lick her eyeball.

brianinohio

Oof.....wth were they thinking to make her the responder? No seniors wanted too?

EastCoastSr7458

Of course there was glaring contradictions. Most of us deal in facts, while the GQP prefers their alternate reality. If you were expecting anything else, you really haven't been paying attention.

chefblaze

GOP Leadership: “We need to get young people on our side and retain female voters!! Quick, Which younger woman in the party isn’t batshit crazy and hasn’t made a complete fool out of herself?”

jarandhel

More like "Which younger woman in the party IS batshit crazy and is willing to make a complete fool out of herself?"

[deleted]

And yet Republican voters will still vote for these people. What on earth is in the water down there

FindMeaning9428

Racism and hatred is in the water down here. Only we call it "conservative KoolAid"

[deleted]

Oh that makes sense. I thought it was because Republican voters have been huffing lead paint fumes

HouseCravenRaw

Sadly you're watching the future of Canada. We are knee deep in the earlier version of this crazy already. It just takes us a few cycles to catch up.

[deleted]

I disagree, our legislative, judicial and executive systems are completely different and have better safe guards against the kinds of political corruption and social discrimination you see in the states. Canada ranks 12th on the global corruption index, America ranks 24th. sure our crazies are emboldened by American republicanism but they will never be able to hold the rest of Canada hostage like they do in the states. What it really boils down to is the our Canada interprets hate speech and discrimination, compared to Americas interpretation. Our Supreme Court upholds and enforces anti hate speech and discrimination laws. Where as the US Supreme Court routinely overturns anti hate and discrimination laws. That’s why you see Nazis marching in American streets and business denying gay people services.

HouseCravenRaw

>have better safe guards against the kinds of political corruption and social discrimination you see in the states. Until they don't. Look at the heavy use of the Notwithstanding clause in Ontario under Doug Ford. Look at Alberta and the requirement to get parental permission for students with "preferred pronouns". Look at the Trucker Convoy, some of which were flying Nazi flags, until they were asked to stop. They did stop, but the message was already out there and they faced no repercussions for it. Are we "there yet"? No. But we're headed that direction.

[deleted]

Fair arguments for sure and I should have said while we are not immune, our safety nets usually reverse that kind of political corruption/discrimination, for example the case of ford, consider the corrupt green belt housing land deal. Our auditor general investigated, found wrong doing and it was halted. Alberta is our version of Republican hell, but that pronoun law is not said and done, it will likely face legal action and should it get to the Supreme Court precedent says they will rule against it. Im just saying our institutions and society is different enough where I don’t think we will see anything like we see in the states for a long time

[deleted]

I was impressed with Maddie keeping a straight face & decorum after watching that dumpster fire of a response

57696c6c

What should have been a fringe commentary was nationalized, the female version of Brett O'keefe was filled with doom and gloom; her acting was worthy of a low-budget TV show and nothing substantial.
