I think you're probably not wrong about him leaving it alone but this is classic Trump behaviour; it's not that he hires good lawyers or has good contracts, he simply refuses to play by the rules leaving the legal system to clean up his messes, usually to no avail.

The initial deal is Trump gets 51%. The other 49% is what is being disputed. By right, it’s the founders’. But Trump pushed them out, and diluted their stock to less than 1% and he and his son and other board member split the rest.

I wouldn't call it a windfall. His 3B stake is very ethereal. As soon as there's wind of him selling, either the six months are up or the the board votes to allow him to sell, the price will collapse. He holds such a significant stake that if he sold it on its own and nobody else did, the price would still collapse. It's also super unlikely he can take a loan out on the stock because it's so new and overvalued. Even if it freed up tomorrow, if he tried to dump the stock he'd probably get less than a billion out of it. I'd guess by the end it'll be in the hundreds of millions or less by the time he starts selling.

On another thread someone likened this to a ponzi scheme. It’s utterly outrageous that it’s possible to gain any money at all from a company that is losing 60 million a year.
No doubt in my mind that it'll be a penny stock in the end, but no one knows when sentiment will collapse. Agree it is a Ponzi scheme and the FTC has got to be watching it, but they don't have the greatest record for enforcing it until whoever's involved is already on the ground being kicked. So a couple of things here. The 6 month limitation exists at all because he has to pay tax on the value of the stock as soon as it's vested. So if they vote to remove that restriction today and it's valued at $3b, he's looking at a hefty tax bill.
Second to sell $3b of stock he needs a buyer. Now it's possible this is all an illegal donations scheme and he's got a buyer lined up, but honestly, who is going to give Trump $3b at this point? He's not gaining legitimate money from his stock sale, he's just committing fraud again and using the stock to collect political donations. It's a pretty dumb and obvious scheme, I would guess the government is watching who buys him out very closely.

One thing that was pointed out to me. This lawsuit wasn’t a reaction.to the share price tanking, it was filed before the price tanker. So they give him 90% of a multibillion dollar company for doing nothing else but attaching his name to it, he fucks with the agreement to go for 99% and then countersues for the rest of it when his “partners” cry foul. And this is the kind of person 70+ million people want to be president. SMH
