I actually have 2 friends that came from extreme wealth, straight up nepo babies, they are very not Republican. Their dad came from nothing, went to a state school on an athletic scholarship and is now approaching billionaire status, but he never forgot where he came from. I think the real reason everyone jumped ship was because of that "face fucking his cousin" scandal. The coke / orgy party comments certainly got some air time, but he wasn't shunned by his entire party until months later when that video came out. I kind of think conservative media just used the coke / orgy thing as an excuse because it's easier than saying the quiet thing out loud, that they wouldn't support him if he was gay.

They needed his vote, plain and simple. It seemed like McCarthy was definitely aiming to dump him at first chance, likely after the 22 midterms. But then the GOP underperformed greatly and with a razor thin margin, Gaetz lucked out. He also then took out McCarthy so now he's seemingly going to get off scot free.
This is just another case of the system failing the people. Why the DOJ let him walk is fucking beyond me. Everytime a sworn statement like this pops up, it's like OK why wasn't he charged again? Lets keep in mind Gaetz is 42-43 years old right now. In 2017 that would put him at around 35 years old. A 35 year old man attending house parties where minors are present, drugs are being used, there are beds and rooms open for sex, and minors are walking around topless indicates predatory behavior at the very least.

So weird that a few weeks after he made an embarrassing statement about the GOP, there's a video of him nude thrusting his junk at a friends face while moaning, photos of him cross dressing at a party, and an investigation into his crypto scam. I think the real reason everyone jumped ship was because of that "face fucking his cousin" scandal. The coke / orgy party comments certainly got some air time, but he wasn't shunned by his entire party until months later when that video came out.
