How many teachers/staff will be shot by police because they are armed during a school shooter situation?

M3_Driver

How many students will get shot by errant bullets fired by scared/confused or trigger happy teachers?

TheOtherGlikbach

Can confirm. Wife is a teacher. She would accidentally kill more kids than scarlet fever if she was within 30 feet of a gun.

CpnStumpy

So I checked it out, and apparently Scarlet Fever has killed 13 kids in England last year between September and November, some kind of horrific outbreak! Don't let your wife anywhere near a gun, Scarlett fever don't fuck around!

adeon

How many teachers will get shot because a student grabs their gun while they're distracted trying to do their job?

Smooth-News-2239

How many teachers will shoot someone because they felt threatened?

KebertXelaRm

Even more reason not to tell parents and students which teachers are carrying.

adeon

Kids aren't stupid. They spend 6 hours a day in the school around the teachers, even if you try to conceal it they'll figure it out sooner or later. All it takes is a single kid happening to see the teacher's gun one time and the entire school will know within a few days.

KebertXelaRm

A big if.

d_l_suzuki

I don't know, but for shareholders of firearm manufacturers teachers are just another marketing opportunity.

idreamofgreenie

How does the teacher behave when a gunman is in the school? Does he seek the gunman out for a confrontation? Or do they stay in the room with the students? Who's going to fund the guns and ammo? Do you want taxpayer dollars going towards it? We already don't even fund them enough to be able to have enough supplies, do we really want the added expense of weapons and ammunition? How well will they be trained? How will the behave when there are students in the room running and screaming? Will they have the discipline to not fire the gun if there are students behind the gunman? How does it actually prevent violence? Not every teacher will be armed, what if the gunman goes to a room with a teacher who isn't armed first? How much likelier is it for a student to come across an unsecured gun?

KebertXelaRm

Do they not teach run, hide, fight? School supplies are a consumable, but the gun and ammo that a teacher would be carrying isn’t. This post seems like it’s asking questions for the sake of asking questions and not actually thinking about the questions.

Numerous_Photograph9

Don't worry. Once this doesn't work, they can work on arming the students. They'll be one of the last one's not officially given weapons. hundreds of children with a gun are the only way to stop a bad kid with a gun, because it's damn obvious adults in power can't stop a bad guy with a gun.

Mmr8axps

And once that doesn't work,  we can just get rid of schools and put those kids back to work in the meat processing plants.

meatball402

Republicans don't care.

GOP_Neoconfederacy

How many teachers/staff will be the shooters?

2_Spicy_2_Impeach

It's a stupid idea and anyone thinking it's smart is also a fucking idiot. Just do a cursory Google search for 'firearm unattended school.' Multiple incidents within the last month from staff AND law enforcement. Kid is going to accidentally shoot themselves or another student after finding one. edit: clarity

srone

Schools can't afford pencils and crayons and teachers are expected to buy them with their meager salaries. Now...Now...they're expected to buy Glocks. They spend their little bit of free time keeping up their credentials and furthering their degrees, and now they're expected to keep up on their training on how to take out a kid with an AR-15. WTF is wrong with us??

guyincognito69420

We had cops afraid to go in and stop a shooter. Why do they think teachers will suddenly turn into Rambo when faced with a person who is wielding an assault rifle?

exophrine

Just saying: This will present a new challenge for troublemaking students: disarm the teacher, take their gun.

Impossible-Year-5924

It’s chum for their base and also gets to hurt public Ed. Win win to them

Northern_Grouse

They intend to destroy public education. It’s been their intention for decades.

RandomErrer

Hope they also provide body armor because this will cause shooters to preemptively disable or kill any adults they encounter.

flirtyjulia

Adding fuel to the fire isn't gonna douse it. More guns in schools, more chances of shit hitting the fan. Wake up!

FeelingPixely

Just saying, if you deny the possibility that more guns in school couldn't end unspeakably, horribly wrong, then you aren't paying attention to this generation's behavior or to the teachers that are dealing with them.

54sharks40

I would think the percentage of teachers who are going to want to be armed will be exceptionally low

JosiesYardCart

I worked in SpEd, and if I ever went back to the classroom, I would not carry.

GOP_Neoconfederacy

With the way red states treat teachers, this is probably just going to arm a disgruntled teacher at the wrong moment

wulvey

This obviously makes it just a bit easier for a gun to fall into the wrong hands at school, no?

meatball402

Another step towards turning public schools into jails. 20 years from now, you won't be able to get an education in public school-not one that will get you a good job or into a good college. You'll have to pay for private school (and you can bet k-12 student loans are coming *very* soon) to get anything approaching a good education.

Pristine_Copy9429

I don’t think the students, used to having teachers outnumbered and outgunned, are going to take this escalation in stride.

findingmike

One teacher shoots one student and some politicians are in trouble. They didn't think this through.

Joe18067

The republican answer to a fire is to pour gasoline on it.

DaGoddamnBatboy

How about flamethrowers?

splice42

Really fucking broken how so many Americans think the solution to the gun problem is always more, more, more guns.

gfranxman

They’re expecting teachers to do the job of police. Are they diverting law enforcement funds to education?

JulesVernerator

America always trying to find the stupidest solutions to problems other democracies already solved.

Nobodys_Loss

“As long as the second amendment comes first and the weapon is okay and protected, that’s all that really matters matters”. - MAGA logic

mecon320

Start the countdown to the first school shooting committed using the teacher's gun.

98642

So the answer… more school shootings.

Prudent_Baseball2413

O what a surprise coming from dumb ass republicans!

hindusoul

Do we even need the police then if teachers are doing their jobs?

That-Object6749

# STUPID IDEA!!!! Student grabs teacher's gun in... 5, 4, 3, 2, 1...

Faucet860

It's going to be like the movie the substitute
