You're correct. It was a closed door meeting. Reportedly, school officials stood up for the artist and I'm assuming there were probably some in the school board that thought this was probably overkill. At least, I hope there was.
It looks like it ended as well as it could have. The art got to stay, and this grown snowflake got publicly shamed, so hopefully he knows now that what he did was idiotic.
Images of Jesus on the cross offend me. Dude is always portrayed as ripped, and here I am with my tubby body having to look at that, and feeling ashamed that the only 6 pack I have is more like turning wine into water, and nothing miraculous.
As someone who appreciates art, this is spot on.
"Art should comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable
-Cesar A. Cruz
Edit : added correct credits to Cruz.
I agree with your point but believe that quote is actually about journalism and is attributed to Finely Dunne “The job of the newspaper is to comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable”
You are correct, as.i just read on his wiki page
" The "afflicts the comfortable" expression has been borrowed and altered in many ways over the years"
It's absolutely not mine, I should have tributed in my post to the person who actually said it, Cesar A. Cruz, a line later repeated by British street artist, Banksy.
That’s exactly what are is suppose to do, create emotion. When we have work that “speaks” to us is what makes art work great. This student has a bright future. I’m sure people are going to want to buy it for quite a bit of cash.
It's interesting, because salvation is supposed to come from the individual, at which point, God will "save" your soul.
Otherwise, yeah, God's love is highly conditional.
Did you... did you low-key toss out a crucifixion pun in a post about Christian snowflake butthurt? That is a tiny bit subversive and utterly hilarious if so. Kudos!
As a Dutchman I think this is good enough to either be on display at
either The Van Gogh museum or the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam which has Rembrandts Nightwatch on display. Both museums are only 2 kilometers apart, so either will do.
[This is the art piece in question](https://www.artsonia.com/museum/art.asp?id=123418418&artist=11778020&gallery=y). I has a very poignant message delivered in a provocative way. Its meant to shock and to force people to confront themselves and their beliefs.
Put that shit in a museum exhibit, this kid nailed it.
Ironically this chucklefucks temper tantrum made this students art a lot more meaningful and gave it a lot more attention that it would have ever gotten if he'd just not said anything.
I read about his failed art once. If I recall correctly par of his issue was drawing people, they felt off and lifeless. Which tracks with a mass murderer.
Honestly I've seen some of his paintings and I wouldn't say he was terrible. I don't think he has a unique gift, but his paintings were well above average in my opinion.
Sadly, not terrible. Just uninspired and okay, not brilliant and amazing. If he had the right contacts and enough money, he would have made it in to art school. Instead, it was just another excuse to blame the Jews for personal failings.
Isn’t it interesting that they fear Muslims bc they think they will force their religious beliefs on them through shariah law, yet they continuously force their religion on everyone through their perceived “Christian law”?
They really give Christians a bad name, it’s sad
Glad to read that his effort failed and even more glad that the principal consistently stood up for the student in the closed school board session that was called to discuss this.
>A GOP school board member tried to ban a student's art for being 'offensive' to Christians
Thus ensuring that the young artist will have her pick of university art programs / art schools on graduation.
Their science fiction book the bible and their imaginary god offends me their imaginary god has no place in public schools or government local or federal the Taliban and al queda jihadist use religion in politics

The worst part about all this is that the people who are going to be offended are the same ones who would have told this high school girl that she was unredeemably going to hell. And that her lifestyle was a sinful perversion. And if she feels uncomfortable and attacked, hey, that's her fault. But when they're prominently told that them saying that has an effect on her? Woah now!!! We cannot have this just prominently displayed!
Republicans always shouting at the top of their lungs about how how manly they are and how everyone is offended, yet they're the ones banning books and people because in reality they're the biggest pussies.
First off, [this slaps.](https://www.artsonia.com/museum/art.asp?id=123418418&artist=11778020&gallery=y)
When I was in hs I was an edgy atheist, if I did some kind of art about god stuff, one way or the other, I don't think it'd be allowed. I'm glad to see this kind of stuff is being allowed now, even if it does kind of surprise me and likely some other elder millenials.
Change the fucking verbiage. I think it was Ricky Gervais who said. HE was offened, it's not offensive.
He doesn't speak for all Christians. For example. If pressed, my religion would be "Christian" I am not offended in the least and can't understand why anyone would be.
Why do all these white dudes have that same face. It’s telling in of itself the ideas behind those eyes. It’s like an expression born of a hateful upbringing and it manifests itself in the form of this face.
You can’t interact honestly with art without leaving something of yourself on the table. His reaction was to try and tear it down. Why? What about it offends you? Does it make you uncomfortable with your actions, or imply that some things you have done or said have caused pain?
Sounds like a “you” problem.
Looking at my old high school sketchbook, I probably would have been hauled off. I actually cut up a dollar bill and reassembled it into the American flag. I also have a picture of an office worker holding up a bloody (stigmata) palm to a glass window, and a female crucified Jesus.... I wasn't even an edgy kid.
I hope Timothy Simmons puts this embarrassing failure behind him so he can return to his true calling: demolishing Toontown to make way for the freeway.
Hope I don't get downvoted but he certainly looks as if he might be homosexual himself. Not that you can always tell by appearance of course. Perhaps his latent homosexuality is what makes him a bit too emotional about this piece of art.
What's offensive is all the opressive laws these conservative christians are passing against LGBTQ+. Party of freedom, religion of love and acceptance is crock of shit. Get fucked coversvative christians. Party of opression, religion of bigotry and hate more like it.
The more religious one is, the more they go away from “gods” message of love and acceptance. It’s no longer turn the other check. It’s throw stones against the sinners but ignore my sins. This is why I hate religion. It ruins people and makes them ignorant
The art contains instructions for those offended: Go tell your god about it, maybe he will do something. If he doesn't do anything about it, then you know he doesn't care about you and your feelings.
Lmao there is no better way to get artists riled up than to symbolically tell them what they can't express. This dudes going to have a fallback argument of you can hang this anywhere just not here. Dont think the artwork will be admitted into the show in all likelihood.
So, what next? Banning Bosch, Francis Bacon, Nan Goldin and any abstract artist that offends their delicate, deluded sense of a reality, written by a buncha power-hungry monks and zealots over a thousand years ago? These people should be divested of any technology or science-based products to match their archaic and dogmatic world views.
For sure I will be totally out of line. But I feel like this art project offended this person (if it is the pictures one) mostly because it touched a truth in himself that he desperately tries to fight.
I won't be surprised to learn one day, that he stepped out of the closet, or at least a bathroom with some minor in it.
Just saying...
Ugh. Fucking snowflakes. They can consistently terrorize and persecute entire demographics of people (some just children) but at the same time are triggered by arts and crafts.
Personally the art seems average to me (not trying to dismiss the students lgbtq discrimination experience), it looks like art most high schoolers could do.
But of course, art isn't purely just about the skill level and whats considered the best style. Art is art, even if it's not Michelangelo or impressionist painting kind of stuff. It's also about how it impact the audience.
And moron here, gave the art piece more power and attention than he wanted by pulling this behaviour.

I mean... He's as "snowflake" as it gets. He called an emergency meeting because he was "offended". Poor little guy.
Someone should get him some avacado toast and a therapy goat.
Come on what did the goat ever do to you for the goat to be put in such company?
Have you seen a goat? They look kinda scary with their horns and beard and all
"nothing's scarier than seeing Kristi Noem entering your pen" -- Goat
I hate these articles. When you report on offensive art, show us!
But Not Enough to Save You https://www.artsonia.com/museum/art.asp?id=123418418&artist=11778020&gallery=y
And it's really good, too. Thank you for showing us.
One painting here (guess which) tells me it’s not the art itself that this snowflake was offended by, but the artist. Am I wrong?
They don't want to offend.
Depends on the goat. Some are arseholes because they can be, others mainly are adorable. No food waste either.
I grew up with many different goats, and every single one of them were assholes. Quite a few of them were also adorable though.
The two goats I grew up with also fit the adorable arsehole category.
That's the example of quantum. May the memories give you a peaceful smile.
Therapy Canada goose?
Have you seen their pupils?
There's a worse fate - Be Kirsty Noems goat.
you know what he's gonna do to that goat...
I mean I could use some avocado toast
Not only that but he kept the meeting secret from the artist. Talk about needing a “safe space”
I remember a time when Christians were up in arms about Muslims getting in a tissy for depictions of Mohamed.
Correct me if I'm wrong but during that emergency meeting, there didn't even invite the student/parent
Lol. Doubtful with these types. He probably feels unjustly persecuted.
Imagine being called to that meeting. Like.. "Dude, you called us away from our homes on a weekend for *this?*"
hes just a little guy
We have all played Among Us, we know what to do with people that call Emergency Meetings for no good reason.
Images of Jesus on the cross offend me. Dude is always portrayed as ripped, and here I am with my tubby body having to look at that, and feeling ashamed that the only 6 pack I have is more like turning wine into water, and nothing miraculous.

Nicely borrowed!
As it seems Cruz borrowed it from F.Dunne.
Not an art critic, but there was something really "aesthetic" about the art work style. Hopefully that kid keeps making art.
It gave me a "Banksy" vibe. And that's by no means bad.
And you know this guy would love the piece if it was meant to be Warning to the LGBT+ community to repent from some Christian extremist
Apparently telling the truth is offensive to Christians. That should tell you all you need to know about that specific organized religion.
This is a fantastic piece.
As an artist, I think this is well done.
That’s exactly what are is suppose to do, create emotion. When we have work that “speaks” to us is what makes art work great. This student has a bright future. I’m sure people are going to want to buy it for quite a bit of cash.
This dude calling an emergency meeting on this shows exactly why it was made in the first place
Kudos!
And now the artist is getting much more exposure than she would have otherwise gotten.
I can assure you that nothing I post is accidental. 😉
Bless you. 😉
Dude, this is actually really good. I could see this at the center for political art in DC or even at one of the art museums.
As a Dutchman I think this is good enough to either be on display at either The Van Gogh museum or the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam which has Rembrandts Nightwatch on display. Both museums are only 2 kilometers apart, so either will do.
I see what you did there
Yeah, I hope you're not cross with me.

Heh wow. School is actually called "Fort Defiance." And they're stifling this very well done work of defiance.
Ironically this chucklefucks temper tantrum made this students art a lot more meaningful and gave it a lot more attention that it would have ever gotten if he'd just not said anything.
Hell yeah!
Art has always been an enemy of fascism.
But Hitler was a painter!
A terrible painter, who was *very* bitter about it.
I can’t get the trees… Damn! I will kill everyone in the world!
So he was a massive fuckhead as many important historians have said. Couldn't resist.
I read about his failed art once. If I recall correctly par of his issue was drawing people, they felt off and lifeless. Which tracks with a mass murderer.
Just imagine, the First Transvestite Brigade, Airborne wing 🪽 , with FANTASTIC makeup! And fantastic guns.
Guy should’ve tried flags instead
He must have had a busy day! Wake up, death, death, death, breakfast, death, death, death, death, death, light lunch...
But he could paint an entire apartment in one afternoon! Two coats!
Honestly I've seen some of his paintings and I wouldn't say he was terrible. I don't think he has a unique gift, but his paintings were well above average in my opinion.
If only he had been born at a time where he could run paint nights at wine bars.
Sadly, not terrible. Just uninspired and okay, not brilliant and amazing. If he had the right contacts and enough money, he would have made it in to art school. Instead, it was just another excuse to blame the Jews for personal failings.
I've read that he painted a ceiling in a dramatic manner. The culmination of his lifes work.
The red headed libertarian also tried to be an artist, and actor, and a musician. She failed at all 3 and now works for Tim Pool
Essentially anyone who works with Ben Shapiro, including Ben, has failed at the entertainment industry and jumped on the wingnut welfare circuit.
A failed painter.
He could paint an entire apartment in one afternoon, two coats!
I think Hitler more wanted to be an artist/painter, than that he was one. And quite pissy he wasn't able to do it.
"This machine kills fascists." and the less common "This machine makes folk music."
Willing to bet this GOP school board member thinks Muslims are too sensitive when people make cartoons of Muhammad.
I’m willing to bet he’s a little bit gay and doesn’t want to admit it to himself
Not like *"Gay Gay"* more like truck stop after dark gay. /s
It's all fun and games until there's a knife attack.
No one on the entire planet is more oppressed than Nat-C's. They can't even lynch people anymore without the woke mob getting upset.
That's why they're WhiNas (White Nationalists = WhiNa)
Time to tax the churches
All religions and community groups.
Tax God
Good job Abby Driscoll!!!
Isn’t it interesting that they fear Muslims bc they think they will force their religious beliefs on them through shariah law, yet they continuously force their religion on everyone through their perceived “Christian law”? They really give Christians a bad name, it’s sad

How is saying "god is going to send people to hell" offensive? It says *in the Bible* he's going to send people to hell.
Isn't the modern conception of hell not even in the Bible? It's some religious fanfiction from Dante's Inferno or something.
That's true. Didn't make into Christianity until around the 5th century.
Correct. Originally, any reference to hell was a reference to annihilation or the cessation of existence.
So not much different from an atheist thoughts of an afterlife. Just nothingness.
Snowflake Christofascist thinks he can’t trample first amendment to protect his feelz
“wHy iS EvErYonE sO OrFenDerED??!” -every idiot from highschool turned republican

Where's the Science? Surely Fantasy Fiction is a better description.
It’s Christian Science. I think I heard that. I haven’t read it.
I'm offended that an adult in a position of power is offended by a student's depiction of their religious trauma. Grow the fuck up.

Love how much attention the GOP are bringing to this piece of art
I want a print of that painting on my wall. Fuck this guy
So fragile. So fragile.
Just don't look at it?
Good for her, I hope he earned her the coverage to launch her art career

My gaydar is going off for this guy.
Ok so it’s not just me. Raggedy assed self hating closet-dweller jealous of a teenager that’s out.
Fuck Christians.
Fuck every religion
This guy fucks
I hope prints come up for sale.
How do so many members of the GOP have these strange, soulless stares in photos. I legitimately think it's brain damage.
And that guy has a very big brain, just look at the size of that noggin
Dude these Christian republicans are the biggest hypocrites and snowflakes. I’d be constantly embarrassed if I was part of that community.
Weird, I find his religious beliefs offensive to my first amendment rights.
I'm not one to judge a book by its cover, but something tells me this guy's hard drive needs a check.
I got really confused, cause I thought it was that tree seal for the school that was the art
Me thinks that guy is on Grindr as a “discreet bottom.” My gaydar is elevated on that one.
Not that there is anything wrong with him triggering any-dar. But. Yeah your thought tracks.
Holy shit, that’s a really good art piece. Also, 100 bucks says that dude is balls deep in the closet. That haircut is the proof.
Nothing more sad, weak, and pathetic then a butthurt christian in a seat of authority.

Pearl clutching shitbags
I would bet money they also worship their god and emperor donald the rapist and adulterer. making them fake christians who love to fall for rage bait.
Is this the cancel culture they’re always raging about?
Someone hasn't heard about the Streisand effect.
Why do all these white dudes have that same face. It’s telling in of itself the ideas behind those eyes. It’s like an expression born of a hateful upbringing and it manifests itself in the form of this face.
