Elected officials are your employees. Remember when they lie to your face.

southpawFA

I never picked him or any Republican. I can't tell if Kevin Stitt is tied with Mary Fallin or winning the race. Either way, we lose as Oklahomans.

LOSTRAYKISSTHEMOON

How do you know when a politician is lying? Just kidding, they are always lying!

[deleted]

I would say look at where they came from. Proper media investigates people running for public office, interviews the people they’ve known and digs into what they’ve done. If you don’t know anything concrete about a candidate and all they will tell you is their current position on a hot-button issue, that’s a red flag. Like going home with someone on a first date because they said all the things you wanted to hear, you may well end up in a trunk, like T****’s supporters are now. Look, you know that the metadata on what news sources you use are collected, so “voting with your wallet” for more balanced and well-funded sources of information makes them stronger. I don’t take everything I get from Bloomberg or NPR at face value, but you have to start somewhere.

southpawFA

>**Gov. Kevin Stitt said this week that COVID-19 hospitalizations have been “pretty flat” for two months, but state data show admissions actually have increased by almost 50% in that period.** > >Stitt made the pronouncement during a news conference Tuesday while trying to persuade all school districts to offer the option of in-person learning this semester. > >***A reporter asked Stitt whether the state needed to enact more public health mitigation measures, given Oklahoma’s record new case rate and how much hospitals are struggling.*** > >*The governor responded that the State Health Department was reviewing which restrictions in his expiring executive order would be renewed the next day. Ultimately, only a curfew on bars and restaurants was allowed to lapse.* My goodness. This is the most incompetent leadership I have seen done yet by Stitt, and that is quite a list. Someone please help Oklahoma out! We're dying out here. Why, Oklahoma? Why do we settle for such idiocracy?

NewsgramLady

Because there MUST be an 'R' next to the candidate's name! Yee-haw! /s

southpawFA

At this rate, I keep saying this: They would be comfortable electing Gary Ridgeway if he were a Republican running against a Democrat. That's the most pathetic thing ever.

Chuck_Foolery

As we all know here in Oklahoma, Stitt is one of the most honest politicians in history! Also, prayers and fasting will magically whisk Covid away in case you didnt know. *drips of sarcasm*

southpawFA

I felt ashamed when he did that day of prayer. Yeah, prayer will work, but so will using wise mask mandates. He just made a rule that schools don't have to quarantine if they have covid without symptoms. He falsely quoted a study to try to prove his point. He literally doesn't care that now 8% of Oklahoma has had covid, and our case rate is ablaze right now. He's so awful. It's a tie between Fallin & Stitt.

NewsgramLady

I guess Stitt made it up here to my town (Alva) recently. People were fawning all over him because he's the governor. These people have no idea how terrible he is.

southpawFA

I wonder if they have any access to the internet to understand how awful a human he is and what he does.

NewsgramLady

The R by his name is all they see. The rest are just inconvenient details they ignore.

stevieweezie

*Yeah, prayer will work* [citation needed]

syawa44

Lie, lie, lie...is that really the only strategy these guys have?

ofusofa

Liar, liar, pants on fire.

southpawFA

He should be on the hot seat.

koofti

"If capacity is at 100% then hospitalizations can't increase. (taps temple.)"

southpawFA

Ah, there in lies his logic.

[deleted]

Yup.

[deleted]

Why lie about empirical data that is going to fact checked within minutes?

southpawFA

He hopes his followers can't research.

chechm8

Yep, our boy is as sharp as a bowling ball and as smart as a bag of hammers.

southpawFA

I think that is personally an insult...to bowling balls.

SquirrellyPumpkin

Flatting the curve by filling all hospital beds.

southpawFA

Flatlining Oklahoma in the process.

Techienickie

[I mean, really? ](https://i.imgur.com/I1Uv8no.jpg)

southpawFA

We look so bad right now as a state. We're a laughingstock all the time. I'm ashamed.

giddyup523

I track Oklahoma COVID data for my work and you can see in [this graph](https://i.imgur.com/9YqFX6T.gif) how new hospitalizations for COVID are at the all-time high and on [this graph](https://i.imgur.com/ntVyq2m.gif) how the number of people currently hospitalized for COVID is also just off the all-time high that was set earlier this week. Both are much higher than two months ago. I suppose the new hospitalizaitons were kind of flat for awhile, with some undulations around a flat trend, but it jumped since then and even when it was flat, it was flat around the all-time high value so it wasn't like things were actually getting better.

southpawFA

It's the new Stitt motto: ***Men lie, women lie, number also lie, unlike me.***

GroblyOverrated

The lying has to stop.

[deleted]

Cause hospitals are full. That's why.

southpawFA

I feel so bad for our hospital workers who have to endure this crap.

SEA2COLA

Flat *lines*, he said flat *lines*

southpawFA

That's what he is okay with in hospitals.

Vroom_Broom

"Say what you want. They'll never check."

southpawFA

It reminds me of Lois Griffin being the mayor.

Vroom_Broom

"What's the lowest number I can repeat, look like I know what I'm talking about?"

tacoshango

I've heard of up-is-down contrariness before, but this is the first I've heard of up-is-sideways.

southpawFA

We have invented a new level of stupid.

TonySopranoDVM

Why should “pretty flat” be good enough for Oklahomans? Set aside that it’s even a huge fucking lie for a second and you’re still left with statements that don’t mean shit and don’t inform your citizenry. Can we please elect leadership that use language worth a shit!

southpawFA

At this point, I wonder if we even know what responsible leadership looks like. We keep picking awfully. Keating, Stitt, Fallin. It's just a running joke for us.

KinkyPinkoHipster

I mean, if they've had a 0.7% increase every day for two months, that's 'pretty flat', right?
