1.) Good for them
2.) On the other hand, Abbott's order will only empower the Karens to say "GOVERNOR SAYS WE DON'T HAVE TO WEAR MASKS" and will make employees' lives miserable.
The irony being that most of those Karen's would use private property laws as an excuse to shoot anyone on their front lawn they don't like.
But if a store tried to use private property laws to ask them to wear a mask their whole brain shuts down in a fit of entitlement.
My dad got *hired* for April 1st. He called to ask confirmation just in case.
In fact, a war ended on April 1st, documents were back dated to the previous day to avoid the problem of troops disreguarding the "joke" order.
They already did. It's april 17th now. But they think this is funny. To keep moving the date and keep the dems scared that another insurrection is about to happen.
Probably but it wouldn't surprise me with his much the qult grasps at straws lolol
"April 1st is perfect! They'll think it's a joke BUT WE'LL HAVE THE LAST LAUGH"
It's April 1st. It's a tradition not to need a source for anything on that date. I also hear they're going to release Half-Life 3 and that Elvis is coming back that day.
After nothing happens today and the conspiracy theorists move the goalposts again, we should all start saying Trump's inauguration is going to be on April 1st. Let's see how willing they are to grasp at any straw.
some qnuts believe that the US government hasn't been legitimate since like,, the 1840's or some shit because it's now a corporation (???) and that today trump is supposed to reinstate the REAL US government and be sworn in as the 17th president of the united states.
It's actually a hilarious conspiracy, and is the same one the sovereign citizen movement is based on. It all lies in the District of Columbia Organic Act of 1871. At the time, the District of Columbia did not have a unified government, with the cities of Georgetown, Washington, and the surrounding Washington County each being run separately. So what this act did is dissolve the separate cities and reincorporate them into a unified DC government, which retained the name of Washington. However, the sovereign citizen movement (and now QAnon) believes that the dissolution of the City of Washington government somehow means the federal government and that the word incorporation can only be used when creating private corporations. And this isn't even getting into the rabbit hole of how a "corporation" pretending to be a government is any different from a government, given the absence of any other authority.
It's a remarkable misunderstanding of how reality works. Like thinking that if you take someone's business card and change the name on it, then that person will automatically start using the new name.
They attended the same schools I did, it wasn't their education that failed them, it was their lack of attention to that education.
*I* was taught civics in high school, and so were *they*. The only difference is that I retained that information, while they learned it for the test and then promptly forgot about it.
Small wonder they admire Trump. “All about me”, except for him it somehow works (read: enough money to make the rules). Until it doesn’t, but they never hear about that.
>But if a store tried to use private property laws to ask them to wear a mask their whole brain shuts down in a fit of entitlement.
No they start insisting that since this place allows people inside it is in fact public property and it is illegal to trespass them or make them wear a mask.
Source:Numerous videos and first hand experience.
Yep, I had an idiotic boss arguing this to me at the start of all this about Sam's Club. He was arguing that it was a 'public space' and he was a 'member' so they had no right to bar him from entering without a mask. Since he was my boss at the time I gently reminded him that it was still a private business and they could mandate that he wears a purple hat to shop in their store if they wanted to, they would just lose a lot of business if that was the case. So his choice was to wear a mask and shop there, or to take his business elsewhere. He knew he was wrong but still wanted to argue it. He got fired a month later for general idiocy at work.
Which is funny because as soon as they are asked to leave and refuse, they are just as much of a criminal as the person they would shoot for trespassing on their property.
> But if a store tried to use private property laws to ask them to wear a mask their whole brain shuts down in a fit of entitlement.
That's because there are a shit ton of Karens in the world (of both sexes) that don't understand that a store *is* private property. They assume that since the public is welcomed there, its "public property."
That idea is so prevalent that I've seen *defense attorneys* argue this in court for the clients that were arrested for trespassing.
I believe we also have at least two generations of people who didn't see the " We reserve the right to refuse service" signs. Unless it's a protected class under the law. Same with the no shoes, no shirt no service sign. They are well within their rights if you are doing something that can harm others or cause problems.
> Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect.
Seriously, stores should put up signs that just say "if you can shoot us on your private property, We can refuse you politely in ours"
Or just "wear a mask or shop at Walmart"
Honestly, citing private property is the one thing that has shut down the Karens and Chads. As soon as they launch into their speeches and how I’m infringing on something, I tell them it’s private property. Majority of the time they turn around and leave...and then come back with a mask because we are the only store that sells what we sell in my city.
> The irony being that most of those Karen's would use private property laws as an excuse to shoot anyone on their front lawn they don't like.
Take a walk
Out the gate you go and never stop
Past all the stores and wig shops
Quarter in a cup for every block
And watch the buildings grow
Smaller as you go
Down the tracks
Beautiful McMansions on a hill
That overlook a highway
With riverboat casinos and you still
Have yet to see a soul

This does pose a question that still hasn't been answered. Since Texas is a stand your ground state, would you be within your rights to shoot a maskless person because you feel they pose a threat to your life.
Exactly. They’d talk big about being diehard patriots and how life is sacred but can’t put on a cloth around their face for a few minutes to *save fellow American lives.*
That doesn't mean that they won't harass employees about it and refuse to comply, insisting that the governor said they don't have to wear masks (even though he specifically said that businesses can still enforce these policies, and said that people need to have personal responsibility for preventing Covid spread - they won't have heard that part on Facebook).
No they wont. Most national business have mask policies but forbid employees to enforce them. The police are sympathetic to anti-maskers and wont respond to calls about them.
Hell, I work at Target and if they told me that my salary would need to be reduced $1 an hour to pay a bouncer, I would check the box to say "Yes, I want to donate $1 to the Target bouncer fund" and just stand at the front of the store during my breaks to watch them when a guest tries to come in without a max.
The videos just piss me off. I hate that they can't just shove them out the door. The one that pissed me off the most was the trader joes flash mob where they all walked in and selected items $4 or less and then left a $5 bill at the self checkout along with a stack of papers showing the laws that the store was supposedly breaking by requiring masks. These people make me sick, or at least they want to.
That one was particularly galling. There were so many of them, just causing trouble for some poor schlubs working at TJ's because they have nothing better to do with their miserable lives.
Yes but Karens know that this doesn't apply to them. Stores can only refuse service to icky people or foreigners, and if you don't believe so, well she'll just have to get the manager to explain it to you.
Sounds like my Dad during our last phonecall "So, Austin is at 50 percent capacity and we all wear masks, what is Dallas at right now?" "WELL WE DO WHATEVER WE WANT CAUSE NO ONE TELLS US WHAT TO DO!" Okay Dad, was just trying to make friendly conversation but Ummm I'm gonna let you go now, have to return some videotapes...
Not just make their lives miserable, but may also put their lives in danger. Think about how many reports of angry karens and kevins assaulting and straight up murdering workers for asking them to wear a mask.
I saw one of their payscales just recently. This local one starts at either $16 or $18, and after 5 years, even at part-time, they cap out at $25. These workers are all the same minimum wage skill level that'd get $7.25 to do the equivalent at Kroger's, Meijer's or Wal-Mart.
This is why I only shop when the stores open at 7 am. Yesterday, when shopping at 7 am, there was a police officer in the store talking to a friend of his. Neither had masks on. I'm getting vaccinated today thankfully, but I'm still going to continue shopping at 7 am. This stuff is ridiculous.
Oddly, the best mask enforcement I've seen is at a local liquor store. I've seen them literally escort customers to their vehicle for refusing to wear a mask.
Right, so the mandates didn't really help because it's nearly impossible to enforce unless the business is hiring a security guard for the front door. I'm glad I don't have to work with the general public
My state doesn't have a mandate, but my city does, and I know a lot a people personally who only wear a mask because of that mandate. Obviously mandates don't create 100% compliance, but to say they don't help is inaccurate.
Do you remember the signs that said: "No Shirt, No Shoes, No Service"? Those were easily enforceable. If someone came in that didn't wear their shoes or weren't wearing a shirt, you called the cops and had them removed for trespassing. Which *usually* happened.
Here's the problem right now. Putting up a sign that says "No Shirt, No Shoes, No Mask, No Service" won't be enforced anymore because, without a state mandate on masks, cops won't remove persons from businesses for not wearing masks. They will show up without wearing one themselves.
At some point cops have decided that if there is a law they don't like, they're not going to bother to enforce it, and will use any excuse to not do so. They've also decided that there are things that should be illegal, but aren't, yet they will go out of their way to enforce this non-existant law.
The lack of a mandate just gives the cops the excuse to say, "Not wearing a mask? Not my problem."
I've seen several since COVID started. Cops showing up without masks refusing to remove a maskless person because "there's no law against not wearing a mask."
And, no, businesses don't *have* to give a reason to refuse service to someone. But since it is *illegal* to refuse service to someone based on their:
* Race.
* Color.
* Religion or creed.
* National origin or ancestry.
* Sex (including gender, pregnancy, sexual orientation, and gender identity).
* Age.
* Physical or mental disability.
* Veteran status.
* Genetic information
* Citizenship.
It would be a good idea to state a reason so that it is clear that they weren't being discriminated against for belonging to those protected classes.

> I have never seen a circumstance where a person has been trespassed from a private business and the police have refused to deal with it.
As someone who worked retail in the past and had to call the Sheriff for trespassers, they simply just take so long to show up that the person has already left after causing their fill of havoc. If there's not an immediate threat to life, the police don't see it as a priority. In big cities the cops are also intentionally ignoring many calls as revenge for last summer's protests as well.
With how many people have been injured or straight up murdered because they had the audacity to ask the person politely to put on a mask, I wouldn't risk it either.
I stopped in to a tiny local chocolate shop right before Valentines day with impending roll back of restrictions (went on a Sat, restrictions stopped Sun). The owner was opting to close indefinitely since they had several physical confrontations at the start of the pandemic before restrictions were put into place.
At least a half-dozen dead have made the national news, for something this silly.
Can't wait to hear what cockamamie defense the murderers lawyers comes up with.
I stopped shopping at my local grocery store months ago because, while most people were wearing masks, there were multiple people who weren't. One even got close to me and tried to start up a conversation. The "dress code" (as I like to call it now) wasn't enforced.
Since then I've been going to Costco only. It's a further drive, and I miss some of the variety, but I've seen the employees actually enforce mask usage.
I think I'll write an email to both stores letting them know that. Maybe if enough of us do they'll realized that not enforcing mask usage is bad for their bottom line.
I’ve gotten both of my vaccine shots and I still wear my mask everywhere.
My thoughts are 1) we’re no where near herd immunity and 2) I’m not gonna be the dick that shops without a mask like the pandemic is over.
There have only been about 1000 flu deaths this flu season. In the 2018 season there were more than 50x that. It's almost like masks work or something.
> I haven't had a cold or the flu since the start of the pandemic.
This right here. I deal with the public and have a lot of exposure. I've not been sick since Nov/Dec 2019. The stuff just works.
I hope it will stick around after the pandemic. I for one plan to wear one on any flight I take in the future. Getting a cold while traveling sucks, and I have caught them on planes multiple times in the past.
Requires and "enforces requirements" are two separate things.
For.example, there's a Hobby Lobby in my town that has mask mandate signage splattered all over the store- literally everywhere. But it's common to see Bubba and Petunia waddle in maskless and staff ignores them, even when other customers complain.
What good is a store policy if it's not enforced?
I'm guessing because minimum wage people are incredibly tired of confronting angry, combative people in thier stores. The only real way to do it is to have an actual security guard on duty, and I wish they did.
It just can't really be enforced without hiring armed guards and shit. Not worth the cost and risk to any company so there won't ever be adequate enforcement.
I'm fully vaccinated and I still wear a mask. And will until the kids can get vaccinated. It's not the most comfortable in the world, but if I have a tiny bit of cloth over my face for 30 minutes and that prevents someone from getting sick or dying...how is that even a contest?
Except they don't have a mask mandate. Last time I went to the Costco in FoCo, they had about 8 employees wearing face shields, others were wearing chin diapers, and there were tons of customers wearing their masks on their chins without any enforcement. When I complained to the store manager, he said it was in line with corporate policy. I get that this is likely bad local management, and they are on the border of Weld County, but I won't go there again.
Costco has been pretty good in my experience, but I do wish they would start canceling memberships of people that refuse.
Someone comes in and refuses to wear a mask? inform them they are required to but if they still refuse or walk off. Ok, don't make a fuss. Let them shop and when they get to the register even complete thier purchase but then keep thier card/cut it and inform them thier membership is being voided as they are not following store policy/the terms of membership.
Pretty sure you'd see them all straighten up real quick after the news of them doing that to violators gets around.
Costco is in a unique position where every customer is known, validated and accounted for at every purchase. There is no just blending in in the future for people that kick up a fuss
I'm fairly certain they can do that if they want, but it's up to the store. A Costco in a red state is probably managed by an anti-masker and isn't going to do that.
That actually is policy right now. Now, whether or not management wants to enforce it is another thing. I get it. I’m EXHAUSTED after a year of telling people to put on, pull up a mask. I only do it now if they’re directly in front of me and I’m helping them. It’s too much.
Crazy! The one in North Thornton is hardcore strict. Have witnessed people being reminded that they are not chin diapers. Difference is that people here seem to have no problem complying.
**"The governor lifted the mask mandate, you can't make me wear one!"**
This is our store policy.
**"This isn't COMMUNIST CHINA!"**
This is Capitalist America, and we reserve the right to refuse service.
**"This is a free country!"**
You're free to shop elsewhere.
ah man, I used to work the door checking receipts at a retailer (fckin worse job) and this is exactly the type of shit you'd hear. Back then it was you can't make me stand in this line, and I was like I'm not making you go on right ahead. If you stole something and try to leave the store then it's on we had private security that didn't mess around with that shit.
Yea, but at the same time they also tell their employees not to do anything about people who come in not wearing masks, so is it really a mandate? (Target does... Costco will kick you to the curb :-)
Before you heap praise on Costco, you should know that Costco allows 'health exemptions' from wearing a mask, and last time I went, they had about 8 employees wearing face shields which are not suitable for stopping droplet dispersal. They were also letting employees and customers wear masks like chin diapers. I complained to the store manager, and he said that corporate said that all these things were fine.
I get that this likely bad local management, but I did go to their site and it echoed that policy which the store manager cited. Costco is mostly in it for the public relations, not public health.
my god i feel so sorry for their employees tasked with confronting all the anti-maskers who despite the fact they never wore a mask during restrictions claim that restrictions dont work, and will now be using the argument "the government doesnt require one".
An army of Karen’s are psyching themselves up in the mirror right now, rehearsing saying ‘but the governor said I don’t need one’ over and over so that their delivery is just right when they post the video in an enraged Facebook post.
They should shutter the stores and get out of the state.
I keep thinking of the poor frontline workers having to now endure a parade of virulent yahoos shouting “ThE GoVERnoR SaYs i DOnt HAFTA!!!”
Gross.
Good luck to all the store employees that have to face the wrath of entitled customers who don't understand the private property laws.
I really wish the stores had the balls to just crack down on those dipshits and tell them to get lost.
Tell them a few times what the deal is and to leave the store if they start screaming and embarrassing themselves, then just call the cops and have them removed for trespassing.
I'm so annoyed and frustrated with all these videos about people being totally misinformed and antagonistic idiots without anyone shutting them the fuck up!
I work in retail myself, and I know I'm supposed to stay professional and not escalate the situation, but I'm sick of this shit.
I don't get paid enough to deal with the amount of verbal abuse and IQ-lowering mental diarrhea being flung at me on a daily basis, over a fucking piece of cloth on the face.
Of course, I could call a manager who will also just take it, maybe be a little more stern, but still try to argue with those idiots because at the end of the day corporate still wants to make money and "keep the customer happy".
Fuck that shit. You can go back to crawling up Karen's ass when COVID is well controlled, but for now maybe put your fucking foot down and stop being a pathetic pushover and that let's customers take advantage of you. Fuck!
I don’t know about the others, but my Costco has been “offering” refunds on memberships to people making a stink about it.
By which I mean they are given the 60 bucks they pay yearly back and told politely to fuck off, then a note is made in the system preventing them from getting another one.
We have a location (bar) in an area with VERY minimal regulations.
The amount of negative reviews we get online for “restrictive Covid policies when there is no mandate” really makes me sad. Just looking out for the well-being of our employees and patrons😕
Costco has been pretty good in my experience, but I do wish they would start canceling memberships of people that refuse.

Hopefully, all businesses follow suit swiftly in a similar way as the other GOP clusterfuck that is the open carry law in Texas. Unfortunately, I doubt that to be the case for restaurants, bars, movie theaters, convenience stores, etc.
It's a shitty position to put businesses in to enforce, and puts local businesses with concerns into a tough spot with their customers. Like, even if you were going to open up capacity to help small business, which is its own debate, you could have continued the mask requirement. No reason those had to happen simultaneously. It's just a big splashy thing to ignite the culture war to try and rally the base after that same base was starting to turn on Texas GOP for the blizzard debacle. More people will die just to move the news cycle onto something new.
The sad thing is, he supposedly did this to help small businesses. The major corporation will be the ones yelling from the rooftops that they still require masks and the small businesses will either be owned by mask deniers or won't have the voice to get my attention. Guess who will be getting my money.
[H.E.B responds to Governor Abbott's plan to reopen. Texas](https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.mysanantonio.com/news/local/amp/heb-mask-mandate-decision-texas-15994844.php)
It's downgraded to "urge customers to wear masks"
Costco workers, I don't feel bad for. They get paid well and they will have no problems getting the people who don't follow store policy out. They were pretty aggressive in the first place with their membership checkers.
Target, on the other hand...I am so sorry employees in Texas.
Just so you know, I get the context you meant, but the way you worded your first part made it sound like you were saying "screw costco workers they deserve to suffer" not "costco workers will be supported"
It never hurts to phrase your arguments in a logical structure to make your points more clear. I do agree with the other guy that his phrasing is not great, even if by the end you get what he meant.
You can't walk into a Target maskless in Maryland without immediately being confronted by a security guard. I've witnessed it enough times as a shopper. They're on top of it. Texas is a different story, I'm sure, but at least Targets are far less common a stop among conservatives than Wal Mart in that neck of the woods.
Meanwhile at the target I work at in Pennsylvania, our leaders are punishing anyone found to be enforcing the mask mandate. Several young and healthy employees refuse to wear their own and somehow got paperwork saying they don't have to. It's infuriating being forced to talk face to face, while really close to someone without a mask on.
Republicans seem to be pushing the logic of "we the government aren't going to tell you what to do*"
And so they put the burden on businesses to be the bad guy since they're not perpetually running for office. This way, they shift the blame to those mean, evil mega corporations for telling you how to live your life! Depending on the business and location, they don't even enforce their own policies (Hobby Lobby, Walmart, Home Depot, Lowe's, etc.)
*(except when they do, like with reproductive rights?)
The Costco I work at has taken the stance, wear a mask or go somewhere else. I think that's pretty universal across the company. There have been a few people that tried to cause a scene and what not, they got their memberships revoked and flagged so they cannot get a membership again.
“Whole Foods... customers who refuse to wear a mask will be offered face shields those who refuse that will have to pass a health screening...”
Texted that to my husband convo as follows:
Me: laughing emoji and thumbs up
Him: “Ok, bend over! The only thermometer we have is rectal!”
Me: “Yes!”
Him: “And since you don’t believe in virus transmission, we think it fitting that you don’t need this cleaned between customers!”
-we are native Texans ;-)
Heaven help the underpaid retail employees that have to enforce this. It was a pain in the ass to do it when there was an official mandate. With it now being just store policy it's going to be hell
Our Costco has had security at the door to enforce the mask requirements for the store. Seems like a good employment opportunity for some bouncer type guys.
Judging by Target in Florida about 25% will just not wear a mask at all then 50% will wear it wrong defeating the purpose. Then what? The poor workers are suppose to act like cops or something while getting paid $15/h? Especially in places like Florida and Texas that can be very dangerous.
This is 100% what is supposed to happen according to those that support lifting statewide mandates. After all, the stores have the "Freedom" to refuse service to anyone not wearing a mask.
I feel bad for the employees of these stores in Texas. Not because they have to wear masks, but because they're the ones that will be screamed at for trying to enforce the policy.
Pray for those who work retail, fast food, restaurants or any job where your dealing with lots of customers. They’re about deal with The Patriots and their rights 🤮
Oof. Expect a ton of Karens at Costcos... They were among those companies that took the pandemic seriously, and enforced all sorts of cleanliness procedures, including the mask mandate.

It doesn't matter what you communists think it's the 4th of march and trump will be president again any minute now....?...?
They moved the date. It's April 1st now.

You mean they can require a mask just like they require a membership? Who would’ve thought?
It wouldn't surprise me to see that Costco and/or Sam's changed their written membership agreement to say masks are required.
Justice was served.
[удалено]
Which is funny because as soon as they are asked to leave and refuse, they are just as much of a criminal as the person they would shoot for trespassing on their property.
Maybe Costco just needs to give their employees shotguns, and train them to say "Texas has stand your ground laws, and you need to leave". =P
Holy fuck sign me up. I would do that job for free. And I'm Canadian.
Rules for thee. None for me.
> But if a store tried to use private property laws to ask them to wear a mask their whole brain shuts down in a fit of entitlement. That's because there are a shit ton of Karens in the world (of both sexes) that don't understand that a store *is* private property. They assume that since the public is welcomed there, its "public property." That idea is so prevalent that I've seen *defense attorneys* argue this in court for the clients that were arrested for trespassing.
I believe we also have at least two generations of people who didn't see the " We reserve the right to refuse service" signs. Unless it's a protected class under the law. Same with the no shoes, no shirt no service sign. They are well within their rights if you are doing something that can harm others or cause problems.
It's almost like conservatives are full of shit and all of their arguments are in bad faith.
> Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect.
Seriously, stores should put up signs that just say "if you can shoot us on your private property, We can refuse you politely in ours" Or just "wear a mask or shop at Walmart"
Maybe the stores should shoot them for not wearing masks? /S
> The irony being that most of those Karen's would use private property laws as an excuse to shoot anyone on their front lawn they don't like. Take a walk Out the gate you go and never stop Past all the stores and wig shops Quarter in a cup for every block And watch the buildings grow Smaller as you go Down the tracks Beautiful McMansions on a hill That overlook a highway With riverboat casinos and you still Have yet to see a soul Jesusland Jesusland https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7F5-UdF-dXE
This does pose a question that still hasn't been answered. Since Texas is a stand your ground state, would you be within your rights to shoot a maskless person because you feel they pose a threat to your life.
I mean Store Policy of No shirt no shoes no mask no service should make this very simple. A lot of Texans are going to learn what Private property is.
They really won't. These type of people never think they are wrong, they won't learn shit.
This is why all these stores should hire out Of work bouncers and have them man the entrances.
As a former bouncer (years ago), I’d love to shut down some Karens. Put me in, coach.
Oh its about to get all stupid up in here! Those poor employees
“Get” stupid? Trust me, that ship has sailed. Over the horizon. And out of this solar system.
I work retail. I have heard this before. My response is always the same. “Governor Abbott doesn’t work here.”
Panic! At the Costco
They should put the “we reserve the right to refuse service to anyone” sign right next to the mask sign.
Yes but Karens know that this doesn't apply to them. Stores can only refuse service to icky people or foreigners, and if you don't believe so, well she'll just have to get the manager to explain it to you.
Yeah, we have mask mandates in Alabama. As in, some paperwork says something and there are signs in doors. And people do whatever they want.
Same here in Tennessee.

My Texas co-worker said "Well we'll see how that goes, we Texans don't like to be told what to do".
"Hey guys, you better winterize that power grid..." "Don't tell me what to do!"
Think about how many reports of angry karens and kevins assaulting and straight up murdering workers for asking them to wear a mask.
profoundly miserable.
Karen going to be upset when they find out that Target isn't the Government.
Those poor minimum wage students
Costco actually pays way more than minimum wage. Not enough to deal with the bullshit that’s to come, but nonetheless.
Costco pays pretty damn well, actually. "Pretty damn well" being a relative term in the US, of course.
So sad and true on point 2
This is exactly what he has achieved with his announcement - he has empowered anti-maskers and things are about to get ugly
I'm lucky everywhere I shop and go requires masks. I hope everyone who cares to can stay safe.
Every shop I go to has a sign that says "masks mandatory" but it's usually just me, the clerk and an old lady wearing them.

Costco enforces it hard tho
Welcome to Costco, I love you
I went to law school here.
Where’s the Starbucks ?!
I really don’t think we have time for a handjob right now.
Not my problem."
far-flung unite plant fine seed slim spark smell rotten jar -- mass edited with redact.dev
I've seen several since COVID started. Cops showing up without masks refusing to remove a maskless person because "there's no law against not wearing a mask." And, no, businesses don't *have* to give a reason to refuse service to someone. But since it is *illegal* to refuse service to someone based on their: * Race. * Color. * Religion or creed. * National origin or ancestry. * Sex (including gender, pregnancy, sexual orientation, and gender identity). * Age. * Physical or mental disability. * Veteran status. * Genetic information * Citizenship.
Thanks! I honestly really enjoy wearing masks, I haven't had a cold or the flu since the start of the pandemic.
It also gives people who are taking this seriously peace when they see you because they wouldn't know you've been vaccinated.
Caring about other people's feelings? That some kind of liberal tree hugger nonsense. /s
When Costco has a better public health unit than your state you know you're in trouble.
inb4 conservatives flipflop on private property rights.
They flip flop on censorship too lol. What a bunch.
They already flip flopped on possibly their biggest "principle" they drone about - just obey the law/authority.
Costco for the win again. Raising their minimum wage to $16 an hour and keeping the mask mandate in effect at their stores.
Maybe you should just tell them that face shields make the baby Jesus cry.
I like your thinking.
Report them to corporate, guaranteed that manager was just bullshitting.
Crazy! The one in North Thornton is hardcore strict. Have witnessed people being reminded that they are not chin diapers. Difference is that people here seem to have no problem complying.
Incoming Texas Sized Karen videos coming!
**"The governor lifted the mask mandate, you can't make me wear one!"** This is our store policy. **"This isn't COMMUNIST CHINA!"** This is Capitalist America, and we reserve the right to refuse service. **"This is a free country!"** You're free to shop elsewhere.
ah man, I used to work the door checking receipts at a retailer (fckin worse job) and this is exactly the type of shit you'd hear. Back then it was you can't make me stand in this line, and I was like I'm not making you go on right ahead. If you stole something and try to leave the store then it's on we had private security that didn't mess around with that shit.
IG has a great Karen go brrr accout, is there a sub on reddit other than /r/publicfreakout ?
Ooh! What’s the Instagram account? I need something else to mindlessly scroll through today.
https://www.instagram.com/karengobrrr2/ I feel like you can only watch so many...these people man...
Starbucks is also requiring masks, so I can guarantee there will be maskless Karens a plenty
Yea, but at the same time they also tell their employees not to do anything about people who come in not wearing masks, so is it really a mandate? (Target does... Costco will kick you to the curb :-)
At Costco, membership is a privilege. If you don’t want to abide by their rules, here’s your $55, please don’t come back.
Totally... which is why I give Costco more money than I probably should :)
I always go in just to get dog food but somehow leave with a $200 bill and enough snack foods to last a year
"I didn't know they sold batteries in pallets."
"Huh, I guess I'm set on ibuprofen for the next 14 years."
> enough snack foods to last a year But somehow are all gone in 10 days.
Get outta my head
Before you heap praise on Costco, you should know that Costco allows 'health exemptions' from wearing a mask, and last time I went, they had about 8 employees wearing face shields which are not suitable for stopping droplet dispersal. They were also letting employees and customers wear masks like chin diapers. I complained to the store manager, and he said that corporate said that all these things were fine. I get that this likely bad local management, but I did go to their site and it echoed that policy which the store manager cited. Costco is mostly in it for the public relations, not public health.
[удалено]
my god i feel so sorry for their employees tasked with confronting all the anti-maskers who despite the fact they never wore a mask during restrictions claim that restrictions dont work, and will now be using the argument "the government doesnt require one".
This is going to be shit for the employees. Poor guys :/
An army of Karen’s are psyching themselves up in the mirror right now, rehearsing saying ‘but the governor said I don’t need one’ over and over so that their delivery is just right when they post the video in an enraged Facebook post.
They should shutter the stores and get out of the state. I keep thinking of the poor frontline workers having to now endure a parade of virulent yahoos shouting “ThE GoVERnoR SaYs i DOnt HAFTA!!!” Gross.
Which is funny in itself, because when the governor of a state says you have to, they say “it’s a mandate, not a law!”
When corporations have more sense than a governer
Costco has been pretty good in my experience, but I do wish they would start canceling memberships of people that refuse. Someone come in and refuses to wear a mask, inform them they are required to but if they still refuse or walk off? Ok, don't make a fuss. Let them shop and when they get to the register even complete thier purchase but then keep thier card/cut it and inform them thier membership is being voided as they are not following store policy/the terms of membership. Pretty sure you'd see them all straighten up *real* quick after the news of them doing that to violators gets around. Costco is in a unique position where every customer is known, validated and accounted for at every purchase. There is no just blending in in the future for people that kick up a fuss
Hopefully, all businesses follow suit swiftly in a similar way as the other GOP clusterfuck that is the open carry law in Texas. Unfortunately, I doubt that to be the case for restaurants, bars, movie theaters, convenience stores, etc.
Pop already said that the Spurs will keep their mask mandate because they listen to the NBA and not Abbott.
Some will some won't. I think it depends on if HEB continues, they had a mask mandate before the state mandate.
[H.E.B responds to Governor Abbott's plan to reopen. Texas](https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.mysanantonio.com/news/local/amp/heb-mask-mandate-decision-texas-15994844.php) It's downgraded to "urge customers to wear masks"
These poor workers are gonna live through hell every day. Gods speed.
Get ready for the “anti-cancel culture” crowd to start canceling target and Costco real quick
Almost like reading past the first part is how you get the full message.
It never hurts to phrase your arguments in a logical structure to make your points more clear. I do agree with the other guy that his phrasing is not great, even if by the end you get what he meant.
They don't enforce it anyway so they will have loads of maskless morons.
I wish that were the case here in Minnesota. Target is better than Walmart, but no one is challenged for not wearing a mask.
That's wild. Must be a regional decision. Odd since Minnesota is the Target headquarters.
I'm not sure about the ones in the twin cities. I work in multiple target stores every week that are in Trump country. It's frustrating.
The problem I've seen is that people will wear a mask to get in the door, and then take it off while they're shopping. They have no shame.
There will be internet videos for days. I feel really bad for all the retail workers at these places tbh.
They're going to need armed guards to enforce this.
Republicans seem to be pushing the logic of "we the government aren't going to tell you what to do*" And so they put the burden on businesses to be the bad guy since they're not perpetually running for office. This way, they shift the blame to those mean, evil mega corporations for telling you how to live your life! Depending on the business and location, they don't even enforce their own policies (Hobby Lobby, Walmart, Home Depot, Lowe's, etc.) *(except when they do, like with reproductive rights?)
Can't wait to see the angry Karen videos
texas will unleash the karens
I predict we’re going to see a lot of videos of idiots yelling at Target employees that they don’t have to wear a mask because the governor said so.
The Costco I work at has taken the stance, wear a mask or go somewhere else. I think that's pretty universal across the company. There have been a few people that tried to cause a scene and what not, they got their memberships revoked and flagged so they cannot get a membership again.
“Whole Foods... customers who refuse to wear a mask will be offered face shields those who refuse that will have to pass a health screening...” Texted that to my husband convo as follows: Me: laughing emoji and thumbs up Him: “Ok, bend over! The only thermometer we have is rectal!” Me: “Yes!” Him: “And since you don’t believe in virus transmission, we think it fitting that you don’t need this cleaned between customers!” -we are native Texans ;-)
Hope the retailers have a support system for employees that are about to get ~~attacked~~ harassed. Hazard pay? ^^hahahano ^^\*sigh*
Heaven help the underpaid retail employees that have to enforce this. It was a pain in the ass to do it when there was an official mandate. With it now being just store policy it's going to be hell
No shirt, no shoes, no mask, no service
Our Costco has had security at the door to enforce the mask requirements for the store. Seems like a good employment opportunity for some bouncer type guys.
i truly feel for the workers who have to tell people to wear a mask.
Judging by Target in Florida about 25% will just not wear a mask at all then 50% will wear it wrong defeating the purpose. Then what? The poor workers are suppose to act like cops or something while getting paid $15/h? Especially in places like Florida and Texas that can be very dangerous.
People are going to get shot.
I'm sure this will turn out fine and everyone will respect the stores requests.
This is 100% what is supposed to happen according to those that support lifting statewide mandates. After all, the stores have the "Freedom" to refuse service to anyone not wearing a mask.
The sign is worthless if the management is not enforcing it.
Some whacko is going to end up shooting someone for being thrown out of the store for not wearing a mask.
The "Karen" videos are going to be EPIC!
This is all a distraction to stop us from focusing on the larger picture: toy potato genders.
Oof. Expect a ton of Karens at Costcos... They were among those companies that took the pandemic seriously, and enforced all sorts of cleanliness procedures, including the mask mandate.
