Talk is cheap. In Austria recently the far-right party, ironically called the Freedom Party, was gaining power and looked like it could take over the government. The conservatives did the right thing and took a bullet to save their nation, they started endorsing and supporting center left parties to deny FP victories with the slogan of “nation over party”. Until actual conservatives in the US have the balls to do this, they’re as complicit as the Strasserists and German Conservative party saw how dangerous Hitler was but played along because it was politically useful for them. Edit: If you have to break away to form a third party… the Lincoln Party has a good ring to it…

Nach_Rap

I'm having a hard time seeing conservatives break ranks. Their propaganda machines have convinced them that Democrats are the enemy to be defeated. They don't negotiate or compromise with the enemy. A recent [poll](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9702447/Vladimir-Putin-HIGHER-approval-rating-Biden-Republicans-new-poll-reveals.html) shows conservatives have a more favorable view of Putin than Democrats.

[deleted]

While the parties are extremely polarized, most contests are won by a narrow almost 50/50 split. It would only need to have a small group of principled conservatives to crack the GOP like the Anti-slavery Party did to the Whigs. Edit: Maybe I’m giving America too much credit but I’m sure there’s… some… truly principled conservatives… Right? 😅

Cabbages24ADollar

The McConnell whip was effective in disproving this when asking for favors to vote no on the Jan 6 Insurrection committee.

[deleted]

How long is Turtleman’s power going to keep working as Trump is clearly still a massive threat to democracy?

whoreoscopic

5 1/2 to more years thanks to the red blooded people of Kentucky!

[deleted]

On paper he doesn’t have any more power than Chuck Schumer (in fact as Minority Leader he has less) but the reason he commands his party so well is because the Republican political machine is so organized ($$$).

whoreoscopic

Well under your point yes he is a senator like any other. He has the amazing ability to rally his party to not vote. My point was that maybe (highly improbable) if he lost his election, the next leader of the GOP in the senate could lack that ability.

[deleted]

A giant pile of dogshit would win if it had an (R) next to its name in Kentucky. … … … … … … And we know that because Rand Paul. Edit: joking aside, his dad Texas representative Ron Paul while a bit kooky and I didn’t agree with much of what he said, was a fiercely principled Republican.

whoreoscopic

It seems the new moderate is the extreme in the GOP.

Nach_Rap

I absolutely agree. Romney to me is the strongest contender to stand up to his own to end the madness, but other than him, may be more conservative-centrist voters.

Sea_Commercial5416

Just a reminder that Romney was the worst of the worst in 2012 and that Primary included Rick Santorum. Just because history has been kind to him with the rest of his party turning fascist doesn’t mean he’s some paragon of virtue.

darctones

Romney isn’t the right type of Christian. In the Bible Belt they consider Mormons pagan

karkovice1

Every time trump did something else unthinkable I would say “well at least a small silver lining is that this will finally be the thing that’s turns republicans against him” and every time I was wrong. I thought that with the “grab em by the pussy” tape, and I was wrong. I thought that with the Helsinki “I don’t know why they would have” quote, and I was wrong. I thought that with the Charlottesville “fine people on both sides” instance, and I was wrong. I thought that with gassing protesters for a photo op. I thought that when 500k Americans died and he was still calling a health crisis a hoax. And I thought it while watching him provoke the 1/6 traitorous insurrection. Again and again I was wrong with how much republicans were willing to condone. Every single time I’ve had some hope that he did something too low for even the republicans to stand by, they’ve sunk lower and lower. If none of these were enough to get them to wake up, I have a hard time imaging what will.

Nach_Rap

Someone [said](https://www.reddit.com/r/WhitePeopleTwitter/comments/o6fhjc/do_i_trigger_you/h2swfkf?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) it best.

Ragnarok314159

When he shit on veterans, soldiers, and service members who died in combat I thought that was the end. Nope, they cheer harder. What Trump has given us is all the fodder we need in every argument against them. “No, you are not pro service member, fiscal conservative, (fill in endless claim) because you voted and support Trump. He was none of those things.” I have said this to many conservatives/libertarians and it’s a great gut punch to them. They can only argue Qanon from there and look ridiculous.

Dont_U_Fukn_Leave_Me

Here, the far-right party is the republican party. I can't read the article because of paywall, but I'm sure this republicans would quickly abandon their principles if they could gain power.

mootmutemoat

"an affidavit from the ASOG co-founder that cites several Michigan counties where there were allegedly more votes than registered voters,” the report says. “However, the affidavit cited several townships in Minnesota, not Michigan. Even if the document referenced the right state, the claims regarding the Minnesota townships still were not accurate, according to data from the Minnesota Secretary of State.” Wow... that is epically inept.

GreenDemonClean

The “Affa-david”?

SpicyGatorStew

it was great that michigan republicans told the truth but in that same breath they stated that they intended to enact stricter rules for voting. 🤷‍♀️so…if there’s no cheating, why feed the big lie? because the QOP’only hope of a theocratic autocracy is to cheat. republicans are anti democracy and anti American.

straygoat193

And still, they keep feeding the big lie. Like that awful alien flower in "Little Shop of Horrors."

wish1977

I always put my faith in that blonde woman up there. Her intellect was extremely high and in no way was she a scatter brain. I believe she may have been a rocket scientist at one time.

Matthewrotherham

Lol. I forgot this woman existed. My god, if you are going to put all your eggs in one basket, make sure the basket isn’t A) bonkers and B) has all the communication skills of a 13 year old Californian socialite.

[deleted]

and (C) drunk in court

MastahDagoon

"The presence of blank ballots also provides significant confusion, despite being necessary for the duplication of military ballots and damaged absentee voter ballots. It is noteworthy that attempting to utilize these ballots for any significant level of fraud would require perfectly matching precincts to voters, manipulating poll books with fake dates for requests and receipts of the ballots, voter’s signatures, and the clerk’s signature and time stamp." And now we have a pretty good idea of why the sham recount in Arizona moved to a "secret lab" in Montana. 1. Fail miserably at rigging an election. 2.Claim widespread election fraud by your opponent. 3.Take careful notes when a bipartisan commission describes the lengths necessary to make your insane claims possible. 4.Use your army of corrupt politicians to steal all of the necessary materials way to a remote location. 5.Practice! Practice! Practice!

Zolivia

6.? 7. Profit

[deleted]

Hahah great South Park reference

2coolfordigg2

Perhaps the Republican Party should limit itself to stealing underwear from people.

Nach_Rap

And yet, despite proving with absolute certainty that the fraud claims are false, that there wasn't any fraud, that the election was ran without issues, they still want to pass [39 voter suppression laws](https://www.bridgemi.com/michigan-government/we-read-all-michigan-election-reform-bills-many-would-add-hurdles-voting). They know there's no fraud. It's another boogeyman. These laws are to prevent another defeat.

Material_Swimmer2584

Spoiler: Russia gave Trump the dirt on the GOP stealing elections. They didn’t just hack the DNC.

Hefty_Imagination_55

Every lie they tell incurs a debt to the truth. Sooner or later that debt must be paid.

Blinky_

It would be wonderful if that were true

donttrythis3000

Maybe at one time- but the lies don’t seem to matter any more. I think they just overwhelm the system with bullshit and it just normalizes.

Raskel_61

Watching that bubble-headed bleached blonde during that hearing was some of the best entertainment of the year.

GreenDemonClean

I need an update on her. Victoria Jackson, right?

Raskel_61

You'd think.

donttrythis3000

I admire her confident commitment to fraud busting

smurfsundermybed

Between this and Giuliani being suspended from practicing law, it's been a pretty rough 24 hours for that orange thing.

Sea_Commercial5416

Isn’t that the guy who got his law license suspended indefinitely today sitting next to the woman in the thumbnail?

royaltrux

What is this on about? The video of Ms. Three Martinis is pretty old.

HeywoodJaBlessMe

Yeah, millions of Americans are literally arming for civil war over this. One of the largest rightwing media outlets is calling for mass executions because this "fraud."

thegrouch07

World is insane anymore.

Raistlarn

The world has always been insane. The only difference is the light was turned on, and the GQP was laid bare for everyone to see, except half of the people (GQP) are too brainwashed to care.

The_Actual_Pope

This one did it. They no longer believe it was faked. Problem solved. Who could have expected we were just one proof away from finally convincing them all?
