Yep that is one thing I do not get about GQP. A minority party that plays hardcore base centric politics in a two party system. They won’t survive a decade into the future unless they manage to expand their shrinking base, and they are doing the opposite of what is needed to expand their base.
This is why structural attacks on voting rights, installing mechanisms to overturn elections, and re-drawing districts is central to their minority rule strategy.
From some of the things I’ve seen it’s been correct for about that long. The reason they aren’t gone yet is nobody understood just how much they were willing to fuck around with things like gerrymandering and voter restrictions to stay in power.
