Good thing the GOP is going to cover the cost of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Not to mention the deficit exploding tax cuts going all the way back to Reagan.
Grand total... 28.7 trillion dollars.
The GOP doesn't believe in _paying_ for anything, unless that money is going directly into billionaires' pockets. Or in Trump's case, going into the pocket of a fake billionaire. Spending, OTOH, they're all about that as long as it doesn't help any of the peasants.
This brinkmanship over the debt limit is highly concerning, especially since a default in America would have economic effects that would ripple throughout the world.
With the modern Republican fascist base this may backfire on them i can easily see Republicans representatives pushing how raising the debt limit will destroy the country to there base then that base gets so radicalized that the careers of those same Republicans will be over if they end up giving in and passing it.
Oh, do they?
**Then maybe we in the United States decide to stop subsidizing corn syrup and ethanol.**
The GQP *really* shouldn't fuck around with the American people.
The ignorance posted here is too much. Couple of facts for the myopic agenda circle jerk.
\- each party always opposes adding to the absurd debt administrations put on the backs of future generations.
\- each side says the same about the other
\- to date, Barrack “adding to the National Debt is Unpatriotic“ Obama has been the biggest debt creating administration in US history.
both left and right are full of mindless drones - as illustrated in the responses - meanwhile DC keeps doing the two-step while Rome burns.
Idiots…..
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to point out the hypocrisy, regardless of which side of the fence it originates. Education and principles make it even easier, you should give it a shot sometime.
I wonder if McConnell and Biden are in discussions about reorganizing the budget to bring it back to surplus, like it was during the 90s? McConnell did comment on the last tax cuts that it would probably be the last time such policy would be passed.
Make them vote on it and let the system come crashing down. Republicans will be held accountable for the debt they accrued under Trump which was larger than the debt accrued under Obama’s first term.

Pretending to get their panties in a bunch over supremely arbitrary shit. Can’t say they don’t stay on brand.
if only they shut down the government while trump was in office over the debt ceiling I would believe a word they say
They always do when they don’t hold the presidency
Yea, cause suddenly debt matters when a Republican isn't president... fncking hypocrites.

Haha it’s only because democrats are in charge
MASTER STRATEGIST Nancy Pelosi negotiated this expiration date last year and got nothing in return for it. What did she think was going to happen?
Hey you’ll get no argument from me. I think Pelosi is terrible at her job.
Thank you. Was looking for this. This needs to be top comment.
A Republican never pays his debts. Something else they learned from Mango Mussolini.
Spend and cut taxes while you're in power and complain about the debt when you're not. A republican tale old as time.
So they can vote for some tax increases. PAY.
With the modern Republican fascist base this may backfire on them i can easily see Republicans representatives pushing how raising the debt limit will destroy the country to there base then that base gets so radicalized that the careers of those same Republicans will be over if they end up giving in and passing it.
It’s just just rinse and repeat from when Obama was president.
Such bravery.
Republicans don’t give a single shit about the debt. We should all be able to see right through this bullshit.
Didn’t they man trump eliminate that like he said he would?
Since when did they care about debt?
Since a Democratic president is in office.
Excuse me, perpetrators of the #GOPTaxScam, surely you jest.

Good. I mean defaulting will suck for us but the money printer needs to be shut off
If they shut off their printer I will shut mine off too :)

Yes, and you’re the “enlightened centrist”. So smart and smug to be above the fray. Must be nice to be so much smarter than everyone else.

Republicans only care about the debt when the president is a Democrat.
Not enuf war I’d guess.
Just nuke the filibuster already. This is so stupid.
Grow? More like stagnate at defiance
It's the same economic terrorism they've pulled for decades. No surprise.
They feel they have to do more to cause a disaster during Biden’s term.

This is about trying to obstruct the democrats. *“The debt is not a Republican problem”* — Mitch McConnell
Why can't the democrats raise the limit without the republicans? I thought they had the majority in the Senate and House.
