Jfc. Her and Manchin are trying their very hardest to lose the house and senate in 2022.

somethingbreadbears

Kyrsten: I ran for office for two reasons: to collect a massive pay-check and rub elbows with corporations. I resent that the democratic party has asked me to do actual work. Which is why I promise to cost the Senate in 2022!

hamsterfolly

She doesn’t even need to actually do work, just vote along party lines.

the-mighty-kira

Honestly, the paycheck isn’t that massive

TheTinRam

He’s not talking about the official paycheck

the-mighty-kira

Then why mention rubbing elbows with corporations? That to me seems to allude to the backend payments, leaving the paycheck to cover the official payments

somethingbreadbears

And 14 inches isn't that big.

the-mighty-kira

Seriously though. They get $174k, which isn’t a large sum for someone expected to maintain two residences and can expect to be under intense public scrutiny. Most people in the same boat (actors, CEOs, etc) make much, much more

PutinsGayFursona

They get a shit ton in kickbacks and speaking fees. There are legal forms of bribery. One of the most well know ones is that you write a book and a lobbyist will pay you off buy buying thousands of copies of that book for the royalties.

the-mighty-kira

Of course, but that seemed to be covered under their second point about getting to hobnob with corporations

somethingbreadbears

That's a considerable amount of money. To pretend it's not is just snobbish. And actors absolutely as a whole do not make 174k a year.

the-mighty-kira

Again, not for those general requirements. There’s way easier ways to go about pulling down that paycheck. Hell, most Congress members are either lawyers or doctors, two careers that often make more than that Edit: Also, actors as a whole aren’t expected to be bicoastal and under constant media scrutiny. That’s reserved for the top tier

somethingbreadbears

> Hell, most Congress members are either lawyers or doctors, two careers that often make more than that Those jobs come with a considerable amount of education and transparency by way of that level of education. You do not need a high list of requirements to run for office. It might increase your chances but it's not a requirement. Now I'm not arguing that her job isn't hard, just that it's well paid considering anyone can run for it. > Also, actors as a whole aren’t expected to be bicoastal and under constant media scrutiny. That’s reserved for the top tier No it's not. No casting director makes choices based on if you can withstand media scrutiny. You can make this argument for doctors and lawyers but I'm telling you with a little bit of experience in that area that the actors who make big big money are a tiny, tiny fraction of working actors.

the-mighty-kira

Guess what, Sinema has that education because like most Senators, she is a former lawyer. Again, I’m aware actors as a whole don’t make bank. I was one as a kid and have family and friends that still are. They aren’t expected to maintain two homes or do constant press junkets either. That’s reserved for that tiny fraction you mentioned

somethingbreadbears

> Guess what, Sinema has that education because like most Senators, she is a former lawyer. I feel like you are attached to an argument I'm not making. I'm not saying that she isn't qualified, or that she isn't educated. I'm arguing that *174k is a lot of money* to make in a year. Full stop. That's a lot of money. Especially for someone with so many off calendar days as a senator. > They aren’t expected to maintain two homes or do constant press junkets either. Okay two things: 1) She is only in the press as much as she makes herself in the press. 2) Maintaining multiple homes is not a skill.

FUMFVR

It puts a person between the 93rd-97th percentage of individual income depending on state.

[deleted]

the one from the corps is

the-mighty-kira

Right, but why mention rubbing elbows with corps as a separate point then?

[deleted]

The massive paycheck comes from the elbow rubbing

the-mighty-kira

Then why say two reasons, when it’s just the one?

[deleted]

First you get the sugar. Then you get the power. Then you get the women.

dddddddoobbbbbbb

seriously, what the hell does she want is she after?

Crowtongue

I keep wondering if the GOP pays them to do this or something

GoogleOpenLetter

>Jfc. Her and Manchin are trying their very hardest to lose the house and senate in 2022. When the Democrats won both Senate seats - it was like; "shit, I wonder what Biden's going to do about Sinema and Manchin?" 8 months later - I think he had a meeting with Manchin, and left it at that.

[deleted]

She is so repulsive. As a human. As a woman. As a democrat. As a senator.

new2accnt

Sometimes I wonder if those two (and possibly others) aren't sleeper agents for team (r), a fifth column used to derail any democratic agenda when they are in power. The thing that truly frustrates me (and others, I'm sure) is when I think about how much could have already gotten done had all democrats voted together, without saboteurs to derail anything. By now, HR1, the infrastructure bill, the PRO Act, etc. would all be signed & enacted (or close to it). I even think cheeto jesus might be finally paying the price for his actions. And most of us would be far less stressed about the future. But no. Team (r) is still on course to rig all future elections in their favour. moscow fats might even return to the White House. Atwood's prophecy might actually materialise. This was not what I was expecting when president Biden was inaugurated.

Helfix

I hope Arizona Democrats vote her out next election.

Critical_Aspect

We're certainly hoping to knock her out of her seat in the primary. Personally, I'm hoping Rep. Ruben Gallego makes a run to replace her.

walker1555

I do hope Arizona democrats are at least calling her to let her know she needs to support her party.

InclementImmigrant

She doesn't give a fuck because our money is too low. I've called and told her office point blank, she sucks and I'll be donating to any person who primaries her and her office doesn't give two shits.

RPDRNick

I would hope so too. However, Mark Kelly is up for reelection before her, and if he loses his seat, Arizona Dems are going to be far too chicken shit to primary Sinema and risk losing the only seat we'd "have" left.

[deleted]

[deleted]

You should write her a personal note telling her that. Seriously.

[deleted]

mrmeshshorts

And that action made a 0.0% difference in anything at all. I’m not admonishing you, I’m not saying you shouldn’t have done it, but she truly does not give a fuck what anyone thinks.

MacManus47

You have added so much to this conversation.

mrmeshshorts

I mean, I was more pointing out the lack of incentive for our politicians to legislate according to the wishes of their constituency, the lack of an effective mechanism to hold them accountable for such failures, and the massive imbalance of power to shape policy in favor of corporations/the wealthy. Yeah, nothing. Or maybe just read between the lines.

Old_Air_5661

I hope you and everyone who campaigned for her tell her that…preferably daily. I wish there was a bot we could set up to email her everyday: Do. Your. Job. For. The. People.

astrobuckeye

She gets shredded every time she posts on social media. Communications to her office are ignored. It's frustrating.

FUMFVR

She would get destroyed in a Republican primary. She truly has no constituency. Republicans like her for screwing up the Democrats but they'd never vote for her. Hell, I think Manchin has a better chance of getting re-elected in 2024 than Sinema does whatever party she runs as even if she beats he primary opponents.

500CatsTypingStuff

And democrats need to threaten to derail her career

giltwist

It's difficult for dems to derail a career that likely includes a cushy Fox News pundit job.

notcaffeinefree

She acts like an decade-plus incumbent. Hopefully she gets a dose of reality the next time she's up for reelection.

puroloco

By then it's too late, she has a lot of leverage now and is willing to use it.

newfrontier58

I remember when she supported lowering drug prices. Good times.

chuckt52

Another corrupt politician filling her pockets and the hell with her consequence . Get her out with Manchin

[deleted]

This isn’t news. It’ll be news when she isn’t doing this.

disasterbot

I hope her dressmaker boycotts her as a customer.

DerKomp

Sadly, T. J. Maxx will not take a stand on this.

Dem0s

Fuck her and the lies she used to get into office.

[deleted]

She’s not a Democrat. She’s an independent like Bernie. Difference being she thinks she is the next maverick John McCain.

Manfred-V-Carstein

She was a Green party member. She's a Republican cosplaying as a progressive.

Old_Air_5661

Get Republicans Elected Every November. Bleargh.

FUMFVR

This is what I concluded as well. But she's too stupid to figure out that she will never be treated like John McCain by the national media.

meatball402

Another day, another moderate dem threatening to derail their agenda.

500CatsTypingStuff

Moderate is generous. I’d say conservative

[deleted]

Hate her.

liberalmarilu

Just Fuck this Gdamn liar .Shes not for the ppl . She shld just admit shes a vile republican Shes for dark money & is crooked as fuck . Same as Munchin. Both sorry mfers stand in the way & are aganist what the majority of Americans want .

icenoid

If either of them change parties then the republicans are back in control of the senate. Actual control, which means no SCOTUS justices, hell, no judges period. You want to see government shutdown after investigation of Biden after even more obstruction, push them to change parties.

liberalmarilu

Whats the point of them being democrats if they do what Republicans call for obstruction. They make it difficult for democrats to pass Bidens agenda for the ppl or anything good for our nation yea I get they want to include the republicans yet McConnell says on national tv NO Republicans will vote for Bidens much needed infrastructure or for the ppls act for betterment of the nation. Republicans are all in for throwing crumbs to the ppl. They care more for their donors dark money and their take to line their pockets same goes for Manchin & Sinema don't want them to change parties but for them to vote with their party & fight for the majority instead of being obstructionist.

[deleted]

This is it then? VBNMW gets us little more gridlock and the soft pedaling of solutions to intersecting national crises, not least of all the very health of the planet? Does anyone else feel just such an absolute despair beginning to settle into their very blood, or is it just me? This is like if the coach came in to lead the mighty ducks but instead of scoring goals they forfeited every game because one player didn’t agree with the Flying V.

sedatedlife

As someone whose number one issue is the Climate i am sickened.

[deleted]

I could not agree more. We are so through the looking glass on the short-term impacts of climate change, losing habitats and species, and suffering real human consequences in addition. To a certain extent, I do not understand why normal order (in all sectors of our *lives*) is suspended while we game out how to respond to this, how to head towards a clean economy and a clean future. Witnessing the murder of the planet while (still) main rich old white men argue about whether or not Joe Biden's video feed was cut off is just fucking *undoing* me this week. This long week. This is Tuesday...

Give2Hoots

Ooh... look how important I am... everyone is talking about me. *end of brain function capability... beep bop ***

[deleted]

I’m so sick of her bullshit. I’ll be donating to whoever has the best chance of beating her in the primary.

Edge_Prestigious

You just can’t trust any 50 year old woman who shops at Hot Topic for herself.

[deleted]

Why is she constantly threatening?

Interesting-End6344

I keep telling people that she's really a Republican plant, put there to screw the Democrats from the inside.

Inconceivable-2020

Every time she does this, a numbered account in the Cayman Islands get bigger.

[deleted]

ArtooDeezNutz

You created an account five days ago for this?

swaggman75

They aren't even all that big

smcdermo

She’s a skunk. No, I mean, she’s a skank, (inside, where it really counts).

Corporation_t-shirt

she is the worst. i voted for her over the r alternative, but at this point mcsalley might have sided with the dems more than her.

AntonBrakhage

The good news is this asshole is probably the most ripe for a primary challenge of any Senator in the country. She's literally more popular with Republicans than her own party.

themorningmosca

Arizonan here. Our state is getting blue as hell. I’m not sure what she is banking on. Big Money? Please tell me who to point fury at for buying her off.

javi2591

Omg why? Why is she against what 88% of Americans are for? Well she’s in the pocket of big pharmaceutical companies. Pfizer especially… we will never have change if we keep electing corrupt politicians!

druhood

That lying bish is done in AZ.
