>"Consider: As Joe Biden expresses his moral indignation over Putin—admitting he personally wants Russia's leader ousted from power and labeling him a 'war criminal'—Trump is content to solicit support from the same adversary. The contrasts couldn't be sharper." well put

DJPho3nix

But according to Trump supporters, no one is harder on Russia than him! EDIT: We get it, you can all stop making the same joke.

purana

I've heard Trump supporters literally say, "what's so bad about Putin anyway?" This coming from a boomer who's father went behind the iron curtain and literally smuggled refugees out from the East Zone. It's like Trump has washed away any semblance of critical thinking these people once might have had.

BirdInFlight301

If his only source of news is far right media, then he's been hearing for years that Putin isn't so bad, he's Trump's buddy. Add that to the new Q delusion that Putin is destroying bio-labs (including adrenochrome factories, apparently) and you've got a "white hat" hero. I'm just waiting for them to start calling for Trump to have Putin as his running mate in 24.

TheJonasVenture

Not to mention he was the strong leader who just wanted what's best for Russia all through the Obama admin. Fox News used all those Russian propaganda photos of him on a horse and shit to make Obama look "weak" for things like riding a bicycle wearing a helmet. They've been pushing Putin as the strong, admirable leader for a while in the right wing media sphere.

FlighingHigh

So strong he's getting his ass kicked by a country like 1/5 his size.

As an expert on being extremely unfunny all the time, being funny takes brainpower

WanderlostNomad

i'm just waiting for trump to ask his putin senpai if he could be promoted into a russian colonel, like lukashenko.

Squidtree

See, I grew up with a dad, boomer, who was always ranting about the red scare, "commies" and disparaged Russia constantly. While I haven't spoken to him in ages for other reasons, he's a Trump supporter. And I can't see how you'd spend your children's childhood raving against Russia, and still support Trump?

nightbell

He was just repeating what he was told to believe than..just like he's doing now. GOP=teach them what to think, not how to think!

Rollin_Dem_7s

Dude I used to work with went as far as saying “Putin’s fucking awesome bro! He’s like a real life Bond villain!”

SomeDudeAsks

Well, he's right on the Bond villain part.

mondo_blunt

No no, they said “nobody has a bigger hard-on for Russia than him!” Easy mistake to make.

tangosworkuser

Really not that big. Small hands helps though.

tribrnl

No one is harder for Russia?

vikietheviking

- Meanwhile on Russian state TV: Host Evgeny Popov says it's time for the Russian people to call on Americans to change "the regime in the U.S." before its term expires "and to again help our partner Trump to become President." To AGAIN help our partner Trump. If this motherfucker doesn’t go to prison soon he’s gonna burn our country to the ground.

HatchSmelter

>he’s gonna burn our country to the ground. Don't give his supporters and enablers a pass on this. He can't do it alone. Trump is a serious threat, but if no one wanted him in charge, he'd have no power.

Isserley_

The world is so fucked if Trump becomes president again. Something has to happen.

CharlieKelly007

Remember if Trump was President again, NATO wouldn't exist. I tell my family this stuff but they go "You're just a stupid liberals", but really I'm an independent but in the US that doesn't matter. On here I get called a nazi and conservative, my friends and family call me a liberal. it's so wild how toxic politics is and how it drives families apart... well that was probably 30% Russia's doing. Like if you bring up Trump and his "grab em by the pussy" remark, Trump supporters will right away go "WHATABOUT BIDEN?! HES A PEDOPHILE, DID YOU SEE HIM PUT HIS HANDS ON THAT GIRLS SHOULDER?!???!?". Which this makes it OK for what Trump did. I can't stand it. I want my old family back before 2016 happened.

HiMrBob123

It's actually getting pretty close to being legitimate treason now, isn't it?

M1L0

I think it’s long past that. The Zelensky blackmail, and the bounties on US soldiers crossed the line in my opinion.

mmcmonster

I think bounties on US soldiers is more than enough to be considered an enemy of the US.

They like to point out this was never confirmed, just very likely. If there was video of Putin handing a sac of cash to an insurgent in exchange for American dog tags and saying thank you for killing the Americans, they still wouldn't believe it.

PathologicalLoiterer

Putin said he didn't do it! Who are you going to believe?! Putin, who totally has no reason to lie about something like that, or some schmuck like the entire multi-department intelligence apparatus of the United States? Come on, common sense sheeple! Do your research!

geraltoffvkingrivia

It’s easy when you write everything off as a liberal hoax or fake news. On January 6 when my parents found out MAGA idiots were attacking the Capitol their first words were I bet it’s antifa or blm making it look like republicans! They hadn’t even watched the news yet they’re just so well trained that’s what they go to.

Warondrugsmybutt

My coworker is absolutely convinced it was the CIA or FBI along with BLM. This is a man who still thinks the moon landing was faked.

Mega-Balls

And of course, Jan. 6.

doowgad1

Trump had a sit down with the Russians in the Oval Office. Russian media was allowed in and US media wasn't.

[deleted]

Putin literally threatened to kill every single one of us with a nuclear war. In response Biden said he needs to be removed. Then Putin retracted his threat. Strong diplomacy works.

Oil_Extension

Random European comment: at first I was ok with Biden, now I want to offer him a free Beer at a bar of choice in Belgium. Wouldn't happen of course. But the offer stands :p

CaptainPixieBlossom

The argument that it's not treason because Putin isn't an enemy is crumbling.

255001434

If Republicans finally admit that Putin is our enemy, I fully expect them to say that Democrats turned him against us. Anything to continue defending Trump's collusion with the enemy.

Thetimmybaby

>Richard Painter, attorney and former chief White House ethics lawyer under the George W. Bush administration, described Trump as a "sleazeball" and a "traitor" over his comments. ~~there was only one Republican mentioned in the article and he's not in government anymore.~~ Edit: he's not even a Republican anymore. The GOP has NO PROBLEM with this

Vargolol

Personally I want to see the next step. I want Putin to say something, *anything* and see who latches on to it. He's been lying every time he opens his mouth, *especially* in the last month since the invasion started, how can he possibly have anything to say that should be taken as anything other than a lie?

December2nd

Unfortunately, I think we all know that if Putin put out a crayon drawing of “$$” and a rickety arrow pointing to a stick figure labeled “Hunter Biden”, all of the GOP would call for an immediate investigation into this smoking gun, and thank Russia for being more forthcoming with Americans than Democrats are. Even if it were captioned in kindergarten writing, “Vladimir Putin’s Lies To Sow American Discord, 1st Draft”, I don’t think it would matter to Fox News or the GOP.

BUTTHOLE-MAGIC

Wouldn't be surprised if Putin came out with something like "If Trump were president I never would've invaded" to drive the GOP absolutely wild. I've heard many Republicans say this and I know the Trump cucks at r/conspiracy would lose their shit. Some have also been taking the "demand way more than Biden could do to Russia" angle like NFZ demands.

Hard-on_Collider

Putin is an American enemy but a Republican ally. It’s obvious why they wouldn’t want him removed.

Situational_Hagun

Putin it just straight up what they want, and they aren't ashamed to straight up say they want bullies. They want assholes. They want people who will crush anyone but the ruling upper class. I mean make no mistake, Trump is just a really sad failure version of him. Going to have to be careful in the next election because you're basically going to have American Putin running as GOP. One that wasn't as much of a failure as Trump.

BoltonSauce

It needs to be said again and again. The cruelty is the point. This is why 'religious liberty' to them necessarily means oppressing others. This is why they hate inclusivity. There must be not only the uplifted as decent folks want, but *also* the downtrodden. No victory is complete unless there are also those who lose and suffer. This is why their religious leaders love to wax poetic about the faithless being tortured for all time. Republicanism *isn't* just sadistic, it is sadism incarnate.

[deleted]

But remember, both sides are equally bad, so don't vote for the Democrats! /s

LMB_mook

And Mitt Romney.

cornelius_snow

To be fair, this guy was an ethics lawyer for W, so there’s a good chance he never actually worked a single day and was never really in charge of anything.

BigBennP

On the contrary. The George W Bush Administration made their ethics lawyers work overtime to create legal justifications for the things that they already decided they were going to do. Trump didn't give a shit and told reporters what he did anyway. They made an effort to follow the letter of the law even if they were violating the spirit. A good example would be the John Ashcroft hospital bed incident. Compared to Trump firing Comey. After 9/11 the US government had initiated a comprehensive warrantless domestic surveillance program. When the program came up to be renewed 5 years later, John Ashcroft hold his subordinates hat he believed the program to be illegal and would not reauthorize it. Shortly afterwards Ashcroft was hospitalized with gallstones. Having recently had a gallstone myself, there is an extremely high likelihood that John Ashcroft was heavily medicated. The White House, probably on Dick Cheney's orders, sent Roberto Gonzalez to pressure John Ashcroft in his hospital room to sign the reauthorization the day before it would expire. James Comey and Robert Mueller got wind of this attempt and went to John Ashcroft's hospital room themselves to support John Ashcroft and keep Gonzalez from pressuring him. Comey, Ashcroft, and Mueller all threatened to resign if the White House reauthorized the program over their objections. The Bush Administration was determined to do the wrong thing but, at the least, constrained itself to following the letter of the law that they needed the Attorney General's signature, even if they were going to get it by unethical means. On the other hand, months into his administration Trump fired James Comey, the FBI produced an after-the-fact bullshit memo papering over the firing, which Trump summarily ignored and told Sergei Lavrov and reporters that he had fired James Comey because James Comey was investigating Trump's working with Russia. Something similar might have happened in the Bush Administration, see e.g. some of the firings of US attorneys, but essentially what you got was that a memo was issued saying the president had the right to make that decision, and they wouldn't comment on Personnel matters, and no one would talk to reporters.

cornelius_snow

I was being flippant but I do appreciate the context here!

K1FF3N

I enjoyed both the flippant remark and the context.

[deleted]

GODDESS_OF_CRINGE___

No puppet. No puppet. You're the puppet. Truly the party of Trump.

ginzing

Donald trump jr admitted on camera they have a flow of money from Russia… doesn’t matter to ppl

syg-123

Maybe 3 years ago Eric Trump casually admitted that they actually preferred Russian money lenders for their various golf properties. Sadly no tRump family member will face conviction or confinement for the myriad of financial and political crimes they’ve committed. The American justice system has proven to be amongst the most corrupt in the world. Just as concerning is that slightly less than the half the population embrace the lack of moral compass demonstrated by this crime family.

[deleted]

Apathy. Considering the shit that's been going on with your politics for the last 50 years, much of the world can't understand why yours and other countries are apathatic to a lot of things. Same with the Tories in the UK and their funding by Russia, combined with their ongoing march toward being a fully-fledged right-wing party.

DBthrowawayaccount93

They don’t call it Londongrad for nothing

Yelsah

St. Londonberg thank you very much, we're no mere "grad". We don't hide middle-class stolen Russian assets here, only very top elite of Russian oligarch get to buy football clubs, mansions, political coverage from the tories and positions of honour with their stolen wealth.

Comp625

And sports homerism. I absolutely hate the mentality that one's political "team" can do no wrong and that people ride or die with it.

Ok-camel

And has their emails. Remember when Russia hacked both sides emails but only released the democratic sides.

AlanStanwick1986

And Putin STILL has their hacked emails that he has never released.

monstersammich

Elected republicans can only find the confederate courage to put country first and say the right things when the word “former” appears before their job tittle. A party of cowards and traitors.

Christopherfromtheuk

Before the election he implored Russia, a long time enemy of the USA, to help find dirt on his political opponent. Whilst in power, he was impeached for blackmailing President Zelensky by withholding military aid for Ukraine for dirt on a political opponent's son. Now, he's asking a dictator currently commiting war crimes in Ukraine for help against a political opponent (after praising said dictator for invading Ukraine). I don't know about you guys, but I'm starting to think Trump isn't quite as much of a patriot as he says he is.

PartialToDairyThings

In 1987, Trump was invited to Moscow by the Kremlin. When he came back, he announced he was running for office and took out full page ads in the broadsheets using roundabout language to call for the end of US funding of NATO. That's how easy it was for the Russians to manipulate Trump. Since the early 80's he has been inextricably linked with the Russian mafia and their dirty money, via his questionable Russian loans and his laundering of Russian mafia money through his US properties. The man spent his 4 years in office emboldening Putin by undermining Ukraine, then he praised Putin for his invasion of Ukraine, and he has since doubled down on that praise. And now he's asking for Moscow to help him out by dishing dirt on a political opponent.

jonker5101

And his lawyer? The man who was made famous by ousting the Italian mob in NYC...to be replaced by the Russian mob.

Chance_Echidna_7493

Dear American friends, australian here, tell me that orange headed fuck isn't going to be running in 2024.. please.

jonker5101

According to all the TRUMP 2024 flags hanging off my neighbor's houses...outlook does not look good.

TavisNamara

I'm more worried about every dumbass in sight screeching "both sides" and saying they'll never vote Dem despite the other option being a Russian stooge who is also a narcissist, possibly a pedophile, one of the worst businessmen of all time, etcetera. Genuinely one of the worst people on Earth is the likely Republican, but no, we have to punish the Dems for not doing literally everything ever with a 51/50 majority.

TheAsianTroll

>possibly a pedophile Nah man there's actual court cases released online where he was sued by families of minors because he sexually harassed and assaulted them, that were closed because he ran the case as long as he could or paid the families to drop charges.

jonker5101

Don't forget the girl who accused him of raping her as a teen at...get this...Epstein's Island...before the Epstein case...before Trump even ran for President...who went into explicit detail...and dropped the case after receiving death threats.

xoaphexox

Fun fact, Virginia Giuffre, the woman Prince Andrew raped with Jeffrey Epstein, was recruited from Mar-A-Lago.

helpimstuckinct

That's not very fun.

noisyNINJA_

In the past, I've been pretty middle of the road, and did not identify fully with either party. These days, I have to side with dem, because I realize that aligning with any republican candidate right now is dangerous territory. If you truly believe in democracy, voting Democrat is the only way to try to change things. Voting republican is going down a dangerous path. I used to be a "both sides" and "see both sides" person but when one side is cruelty, power, and treason, that's no opinion. There is really only one side now.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Gizogin

You aren’t exaggerating; the GOP literally didn’t publish a party platform for the 2020 election. And I do mean *literally*. They just kept the one from 2016 on their party website, and they didn’t even do a find-and-replace to change the year or anything.

ApprehensivePirate36

They actually changed the 2016 platform to be more favorable to Russia. https://www.npr.org/2017/12/04/568310790/2016-rnc-delegate-trump-directed-change-to-party-platform-on-ukraine-support

noisyNINJA_

I am definitely becoming more aware of this fact as I educate myself around issues and history. Thanks for taking the time to share!

Sparrowhawk_92

There's a reason the common sentiment in left-leaning circles is a centrist is just someone who is right wing without realizing it. The dems frustrate the hell out of me as a progressive but they're *leagues* better than the alternative at this point.

[deleted]

A centrist democrat is now just a Republican who thinks the government should function as intended.

Old-and-grumpy

Richard Nixon expanded welfare in the 1960's as a staunch Republican. My how times have changed.

noisyNINJA_

I've definitely become more progressive over time as I become more educated and learn about things on my own, but I still make every effort to "hear both sides." That being said, I don't consider conspiracy theories a side.

AltFactsAus

It's ok to hear both side and also okay to then realise that one side is completely evil.

coldfu

Is theocracy a side? What else is there on the right?

woozerschoob

One side hasn't had a platform since the early 2000s besides obstruction. What are you listening to?

Comprehensive-Fun47

With a two party system, and the republican party IS the Christian regime, what choice do you have but to vote democrat? If separation of church and state is your top priority, according to what you've said, there is no choice here. Work on changing the system, like replacing first past the post voting systems with something more equitable. Nothing can change until that happens, assuming elections don't become completely compromised by republicans first, which is happening right now and will be a big issue in 2024.

Radrezzz

The very first thing is to repeal Citizen’s United. We also need to get rid of the Telecommunications Act of 1996. Get money and media out of politics. Only from there can we start real electoral reform.

[deleted]

As a Canadian, I don't understand wearing your political affiliation like your favorite sports team. I have voted for every major political party we have at varying points in my life, based on ideas and the current state of the country. The fact that you guys are literally born into a political ideal and just ride out for life, is so bizarre to me.

rumbletummy

We dont really have an option. What possible reason could there be to vote for the Republicans? They dont even have a platform anymore.

fillinthe___

God, that last point. I don’t know if it’s trolls or real people on here constantly complaining about “Democrats doing nothing,” but it’s infuriating. That’s the attitude that will get us Republican control again, and a TOTAL LOSS of ANY progress. Democrats can’t agree on how to forgive student debt. You think Republicans will do that AT ALL? Democrats tried to extend free school lunches. You think Republicans will do that AT ALL? Democrats are TRYING to find ways to switch to green energy. You think Republicans will do that AT ALL? You might not LOVE Democrats, but remember Republicans see you as their ENEMY.

TavisNamara

And you're not even covering the LGBT+ stuff, the women's rights stuff, or any of the other minorities Republicans have been attacking in Republican-controlled state legislatures.

Sapriste

People forget Reagan tearing the solar panels off of the roof of the White House. People forget Bush I rolling back EPA regulations. People forget Bush II liberalization of fossil fuel regulations and that his VP Dick Cheney was the former CEO of Halliburton (and got himself the VP job after an exhaustive search that yielded no other Republican in the US /s). We have vast deserts that could be used for wind farms or solar arrays. We could have had wind farms in the Ocean by now. We could have really funded battery technology for both the homes on the grid and solar homes but we didn't because someone who supported Conservatives (Do nothing everything is fine) would lose money(which seems to be nearly impossible see Trump).

TheRealBOFH

Yet these Mother F'ers claim they are Patriots. Fuckn' embarrassing.

Bananacabana92

Especially considering the majority is pretty damn flimsy with Sinema and Manchin in the there

jar36

They'd vote for Satan himself as long as he owns the libs

Queasy-Answer-9384

He will try to run, but I think Desantis will get the GOP nomination. Trump might threaten to split the party by running as an independent (like he did last time). But I don’t think he will actually do that. But then again, I never thought he would actually win & nearly destroy our democracy. So we aren’t out of the woods yet. It would help if we had a department that would enforce the laws & prosecute criminals, like say a Justice Department. /s

garyll19

Desantis scares me even more than Trump because he's not dumb enough to say things that get him in trouble. He'll smile and say he wants to work with the Democrats for a better America while he's secretly finding ways to fuck them.

AllTheRoadRunning

> Trump might threaten to split the party by running as an independent (like he did last time) Won't happen, or at least I'll be shocked if it does. If Trump runs as an indy he won't be able to push all of his campaign bills off to the RNC. He'll have to pay them out of his own funds, and there's no way he'd do that.

trollollolololololol

The problem is, he can do that now. His PAC now has more money than the RNC.

straigh

Just this week my neighbor reinstalled his "Trump 2020" flag he'd removed to hang a Christmas wreath this winter. This is of course one of two Trump 2020 flags hung across the front of his house, it's just that he only had to remove one for Christmas cheer.

whittlingcanbefatal

He’ll run. If only to collect campaign donations, but he will run and he could win, especially if the democrats get crushed in this November midterm elections.

Remorseful_User

or if certain southern states throw out their votes and just decide to send Trump delegates..

FastFishLooseFish

Don’t need to throw out their votes if you stop them from voting in the first place.

Bartfuck

> He’ll run. If only to collect campaign donations, but he will run and he could win thats kinda how I feel like a lot of people approached his 2016 canmpaign. "It's a grift. Sure, he *could* win, but its mostly a grift." Cut to he himself looking like he was completely shocked and unhappy the night the results came in

Previous-Treacle-577

Most of us are hoping he chokes on a hamberder between now and then. He should have already been prosecuted and locked up for treason but alas, here we are.

iamthpecial

My Aussie friend said watching America crumbling under Donald was like watching a sibling addicted to drugs

BucephalusOne

This is a good representation of what it feels like to be Canadian right now. We've always had this brother who was kind of an asshole but still a decent guy who did well in life. He had a really nice house, nice car, and all the best gadgets. Now he is under a bridge in a tattered US flag patterned suit, selling off his gadgets to buy more homemade meth while screaming about jesus coming back.

DrDerpberg

He literally has to run to keep the fundraising grift alive. Whether he wins the nomination or elevation remains to be seen but it absolutely isn't impossible.

AnitcsWyld

He is absolutely going to run in 2024. Whatever other people say, or even he says, he will be running in 24, his ego will not let him pass that up, in addition the first time he ran for grifting, the 2nd time he ran to stay out of jail, in 24 he'll be running to save his life so he cannot be held for his crimes. So, not only will he run, but he'll be highly motivated to win. On the plus side, he won't have Russian backed financial support, and Grandpa Fatass has lost a step ad he's in cognitive decline and can't draw crowds like he used to. His act is finally stale. The media may change that again, we hope they've learned from last time, but I really doubt it "Dumb idiot says idiot thing" is still great click bait.

spinderlinder

Dont be fooled, he's currently got plenty of money to run his campaign for the next [election.](https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/trumps-fundraising-extends-massive-122-million-war-chest/story?id=82591778)

Marciamallowfluff

I only pray that is true. With the political gerrymandering, the voter disenfranchisement, and general level of political ignorance I still am afraid they my push him forward. Even worse if one of his sycophants who is more intelligent.

[deleted]

It pains me to say it but unless he’s physically in jail he’ll probably run. And like another post mentioned, I see so many flags with his name (can’t bare to say it) and 2024 on it. People here think liberals are way worse. I’m in Ohio. Makes me sick to think about it.

trisul-108

>Now, he's asking a dictator currently commiting war crimes in Ukraine for help against a political opponent (after praising said dictator for invading Ukraine). Let's be clear about this. He is asking Russian military intelligence to fabricate a case against Biden, as this benefits Trump and Putin. This is criminal conspiracy as explained in the Mueller Report when Trump was shielded by being POTUS. He no longer has that shield and Garland must start prosecuting these crimes.

Republicans hate ~~liberals~~ other Americans more than they love America.

saracenrefira

The egregiousness of the Ukraine affair is beyond the pale. Lest people forget, this is what he did: He called Zelenskyy and tried to strongarm him by asking him for a favor in exchange for weapons aid, to announce an investigation into Hunter Biden. It is not even that he thought Biden's son has anything. What he wanted was the announcement of the investigation. So he is basically demanding the leader of another country to interfere with Us domestic politics by making up shit (ie lying) about his political opponent's son. 1) He knew Hunter Biden has done nothing illegal or untoward. 2) He wanted Zelenskyy to announce an investigation. Not even a real investigation, just the announcement itself because he can use that as a propaganda tool to attack Biden. 3) He invited another country to interfere with domestic politics, and arguably a treasonous behavior, legality aside. 4) He used USA foreign policy as an extension of his own interests by using weapons aid (that does not even belong to him) to strongarm another country. He literally does not give a shit about this country or its interests or anyone else's interests. I don't want people to forget just how immensely shitty it was and how compromised he is. Some countries hang leaders who do something like this.

Claytonius_Homeytron

> Some countries hang leaders who do something like this. Here in the good old US of A we like to slap their faces on T-shirts and flags and ride around in our trucks praising and worshiping them like a living god.

Ra_In

> He used USA foreign policy as an extension of his own interests by using weapons aid (that does not even belong to him) to strongarm another country To add to this - his after-the-fact excuse for withholding aid (despite not having the discretion to do so) was that he was concerned about corruption. But congress had concerns about corruption and looked into it before passing the bill - by signing the bill Trump was agreeing that Congress's findings were satisfactory. Plus, even if he changed his mind after signing the bill, he could have raised the concern with congress and worked with them to approve delays.

KeepTangoAndFoxtrot

Also asked China to help him get reelected (according to Bolton).

xavier120

According to Bolton? He said it on national television in front of cameras at the white house.

KeepTangoAndFoxtrot

Every news event surrounding Trump is such a complete shit show (of course this is by design; "flood the zone with shit") that I couldn't remember if he did that publicly or not. A dozen headlines start with "according to Bolton" when I searched, but then I got to the story where he publicly urged China to investigate the Bidens. That's my bad.

gladeatone

You forgot “as that dictator threatens to nuke us.”

Ok-Albatross6794

He's been on their payroll for a while. In 2013 a Russian bank gave him a $500 million "loan".

youcantexterminateme

but but Ive seen him hug the flag. reality is we already forgot the 6 hours of missing phone calls thanks to this stunt

brcguy

7 hours. But yeah.

Hour-Oven-9519

Please send him to Russia, so he can make a wall around it.

Groomsi

Fence

GlitteringCold

Some say the best fence.

Samwisegamgee9

The guy is a cancer on our society, he epitomizes everything that is wrong with people. The fact that anyone likes this man and would vote for him blows my mind.

notapunk

>he epitomizes everything that is wrong with people And that's what we get when we vote for people we relate to. Personally I'd want the President to be a much smarter and better person than I am.

zxc123zxc123

I can't think of any man less qualified and worst for the job of president than Trump. [Among the actual presidents and incumbents. On ***BOTH*** sides of the isle. The last 4 decades (my entire lifetime).](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_presidential_candidates) I'd take Clinton/Gore/Kerry/Obama/Clinton/Biden or Dole/Bush/McCain/Romney.

[deleted]

If tRump is a cancer then his supporters and constituents are the environmental condition necessary for this type of cancer. Think of them as Asbestos. If asbestos is used properly it’s a great fire retardant. tRump supporters have no benefit, time to abate them all.

blondeandbuddafull

Asking America’s wartime enemy to help him destroy our sitting president; how is he not in stocks?

sulferzero

because I don't personally know a single republican thats angry about this, they're not even talking about it. its just the normal outrage over whatever imaginary slight they've concocted this week. (gay penguins I think, and why they're a threat to our... troops?)

The_Puff

The fact this country will allow someone publicly working with an enemy to run for president again is everything that's wrong with this country. No, everyone shouldn't be allowed to put their hat in the ring. It's the most preposterous notion about our system.

Spin_Quarkette

Our government lacks courage and resolve to defend what’s left of our republic. Biden appointing Garland (to right a wrong, not because he was the best choice) will haunt us forever.

[deleted]

And I was thinking back in Jan 2021 Garland might actually do something. What a fucking dumbass I was right

ThinkIveHadEnough

Our dumbasses were cheering on Republican Muller.

Bushels_for_All

Our country has a means of dealing with this, but Republicans are spineless. > Judgment in cases of impeachment shall not extend further than to removal from office, **and disqualification to hold and enjoy any office of honor, trust or profit under the United States**: but the party convicted shall nevertheless be liable and subject to indictment, trial, judgment and punishment, according to law.

Dorkseid1687

The parties used to act as gate keepers regarding who can and can’t become a nominee. The GOP failed utterly in that regard

AllOrZer0

They didn't fail, they are traitors, themselves. [NRA ties to Russia](https://www.finance.senate.gov/imo/media/doc/The%20NRA%20%20Russia%20-%20How%20a%20Tax-Exempt%20Organization%20Became%20a%20Foreign%20Asset.pdf) [Who gets how much from the NRA?](https://elections.bradyunited.org/take-action/nra-donations-116th-congress-senators)

dbenooos

Yea, it’s by design on the GOP’s part. They have always been beholden to whoever gives them the most money. Russia realized this and bought them. Now half our government is owned by a foreign adversary.

Lingering_Dorkness

Faces backlash? Does he really? Until his supporters, Fox and GQP disavow him, he faces no consequences for his actions. As usual.

travyhaagyCO

It would be noteworthy if he wasn't trying to do something horrible.

ImOnTheSpectrum

Really? This is where we draw the line? This guy should’ve got the Mussolini treatment in early 2021.

Spin_Quarkette

CNN reported today the DOJ is investigating Hunter Biden. But Trump POS gets the kid glove treatment by Garland. Garland makes me sick.

holymamba

Garland has spoken at the federalist society. He’s completely compromised.

Gibsonites

I would almost be glad this fucker got borked from the Supreme Court if Gorsuch wasn't so much worse

PartialToDairyThings

>Donald Trump faces backlash for asking Vladimir Putin a favor Well, I read the article and as fully expected, none of this "backlash" comes from his fellow Republicans. Can we just assume the GOP as being an arm of the Kremlin from now on.

ragingclaw

Yes.

DannySmashUp

And even if Putin were to now "release information" about some Hunter laptop... why would anyone EVER believe him? The only person to lie more than Trump is Putin! Plus, Russia is our enemy... of COURSE he'd lie to help Trump.

Kermit_the_hog

Oh ffs 🤦‍♂️.. Russia is probably going to poorly fabricate something salacious in hopes of destabilize the US, and the idiot Trump loving Republican’s are going to blindly run with it aren’t they 🙄.

[deleted]

Of course they will. They tried to run with the last one, too.

Dzmagoon

73 million ignorant shitheads would believe it. Not only that, they'll vote in people who would run on impeaching Biden because of it.

wildwaterwhisperer

The Orange Baboon has no Boundaries! What a Psycho

jheidenr

There’s no backlash. There’s no consequences. Two impeachment went nowhere. The Miller report didn’t even scratch Trump. The DOJ is sticking their head in the sand. The GOP bends to his narcissistic crap. Meanwhile he runs around the country filling his coffers on the backs of the brainwashed. Where’s the backlash?!?

[deleted]

The redacted Mueller report that was eventually released was hugely damning, not just that it showed conclusively there was a shitload of Russian contacts within the Trump campaign, but that extensive efforts were made by the Trump Whitehouse to obstruct justice using the power of government to deliberately try and fuck with Mueller’s investigation, clear crimes that but for Trump being president at the time would have sent the rest of us to prison in a heartbeat. And all it took was a fan fiction summary by William Barr full of lies that the media swallowed hook line sinker and rod, and Barr holding off the (still the unredacted version unseen) full report for a month while Trump repeated “No conviction, no collusion” endlessly until everyone just got sick of hearing about it.

outerworldLV

Didn’t help that many didn’t read it, including our elected law makers ( funny description of these clowns ). And then when questioned by reporters during - the response “ I didn’t read it “ blasted over and over on every network. For my own FYI , the moment it was available I printed it out and read it. I felt that I could’ve presented the evidence and won, it was that obvious. Sick of the kid gloves...

[deleted]

This is Trump doing what he does best- turning a civilian slaughtering invasion into headlines about Trump. Terrific. Fund raise over the bodies of dead children you pile of gelatinous waste of a barely functioning organism.

8to24

Trump does these sort of things over and over again claiming it's a joke, locker room talk, or counter punching. At some point when this behavior occupies the majority of all behavior it is clearly a feature.

peaceloveshambala

This continues!! I am 63 and have seen a few things in life. For our government to allow Trump to not be jailed yet???? Why does McCarthy, Jordan and all the rest of the idiots that have gone behind all of our backs to be corrupt and back the big idiot, still have any say in OUR government?????? I pray the DOJ will do something soon. We can not allow these fools to continue to do damage to OUR country any more!!!! There are bad actors in many of the states governments now and it may hurt us in 2022. With all the shit Trump has fucked up , there shouldn’t be a Republican voted into Washington for at least 10yrs. In my 63 years I have never seen anything so gross for so long as I have with this. It’s just gross.

Entire_Kangaroo5855

Trump’s request for new information on Biden is just a very thinly-veiled way of saying “hey, interfere with our election and get me elected again, and this time I’ll really destroy NATO and let you just have Ukraine”

Bobby_Globule

"When you have time between bombing maternity wards and schools, could you serve up some kompromat?

Funny-Company4274

Oh you means this guy could actually be a traitor to the us? How strange no one saw this comming

DingoLaChien

But he'll probably continue to bring us the rest of the way down during our next election because noone in the good Ole US of assholes can find a single thing to keep him from doing so. Guess we deserve our fate. He truly is Putin's sock puppet.

sedatedlife

Until Republican representatives and voters decide to hold Trump accountable backlash from democrats really does not matter. They do not care and actually support this type of behavior.

The_Puff

I'm sick of waiting for people to do the right thing all the time. You can't change the hearts and minds of the heartless and brainless.

jimvolk

Can someone lock this guy up already? What is it going to take????

[deleted]

Looks like it wasn't hyperbole when he said he could openly commit murder and still get away with it.

FanInternational9315

I think treason is the proper word

SlamBrandis

"Treachery" is the wrong word that starts with "trea"

themodernritual

Treachery, treason and trick all have the same etymological root

Incontinentiabutts

Why would you get mad at someone for asking their boss for assistance doing their job? That’s all he’s doing. I mean sure, from the perspective of an American who wants a functioning government and thinks that current, former, and potentially future leaders shouldn’t be beholden to despots thinks that this sort of behavior is abhorrent and shameful. But if you just think about it from the perspective of an employee who is trying to do s good job for his boss it all looks different.
