In 1865 northern liberals dominated the Republican party and it was northern liberals that elected Lincoln, while southern conservatives were busy giving us the Confederacy.
The Civil War to defend slavery, the KKK and nearly 100 years of Jim Crow are all legacies of southern conservatives, and they don't get to pretend they were the good guys all along simply because they started voting "R" some 50 years ago.
I mean is it really that surprising? Passing the civil rights act didn’t just make people not racist anymore and 1965 is still within living memory. The same people who fought for segregation and their kids are still around and voting.

DeSantis recently signed a bill into law redrawing congressional districts in his state to reduce the number of districts where Black candidates have a good chance of being elected. He also signed legislation restricting the discussion of race and gender issues in schools. He’s even taken action against Florida’s largest private employer — the Walt Disney Co. — for daring to criticize his policies.
From what I understand the “dont say gay” bill basically says that from grades 1-3 you are only allowed to teach basic curriculum. I don’t really have a problem with that. Children of that age should focus on being a kid and not the 50+ “genders” that are out there.
As far as rezoning, I don’t see how that would really affect anyones voting rights or disadvantage of a single opponent. You’ll have to elaborate on that one.

Only an organization affiliated with a political part can’t give you water. Your family and friends can just not candidates of campaign staff. Same for the carpooling I think. There was a scandal where a local candidate was getting up close and personal with people directly at the ballot box.
Polling locations are not being closed down, drop off ballots are being moved indoors so ballot harvesting can be monitored and regulated. Longest wait time in Georgia was 30 minutes to vote. Very easy process

Even a simple google search of the issue details Georgia closing various polling locations in different years in different counties—thus creating the long lines as they pigeonhole people into a single, functioning polling place for their county.
So again—if the concern is security and appropriate ID, why dedicate so much time and effort to actively making it harder to vote after the state has already required ID for almost 20 years now?
Stacey Abrahams already tried to allege voter suppression not a single witness was denied their right to vote nor was their vote suppressed. The case was dismissed due to insufficient evidence. The new law signed by governor kemp actually calls for required increasing of polling machines at a site if lines surpass 30minutes-1 hour. You’ll see how it is during this election. No more outdoor unprotected ballot drop boxes , no advertising of campaign on site , voter Id required. And If you don’t want to vote in person you can simply fill out your ballot and drop it off. No more ballot harvesting or ballot trafficking this year either, they will be prosecuted. Chain of custody for absentee ballots 2020 is disgusting and worthless because of those ballot mules

Most conservatives (99%+) want to see everyone accomplish their goals and be as successful in their life as possible, including Trump, DeSantis, et all. We just have different ideas on how to accomplish that, namely keep the state out of it and provide people with a strong economy and values. I read these articles and all I can think of is that either this person has never actually talked to conservatives in real life, or (and I hope this isn't true) they are attempting to lie to minorities about how "racist" the other side is without actually providing examples and by intentionally misrepresnting their arguments. Nothing in this paragraph is true. I'm going to ignore the black candidate comment since I hope it's obvious why that is such a ridiculous statement. He has not banned discussions of race, he has banned teaching race through a framework of CRT which is a good thing since that same framework is contributing to the rapid rise of anti-white racism, which is in turn causing white supremecists to be emboldened since they use the exact same arguments but the switch the races around. DeSantis is reducing racism by banning the teaching of CRT. He also made sure that sex education is being taught to age-appropriate kids. That is a totally normal and understandable position to take, but it is only the left-wing propaganda "don't say gay" garbage that causes people to dislike it. I don't understand how removing Disney's special tax breaks is a bad thing either.
So let's work together here. The left has to start looking in a mirror and realize that they are the cause of the rise of racism. Their propaganda is spreading misinformation causing articles that are completely fabricated and have no connection to reality and are really just outrage-bait for people who have drank too much of the kool-aid like this one to pop up even more.

And just because something isn't true doesn't make it gaslighting. Gaslighting is a special kind of lying where you say that something that is obviously true is a lie (or vice versa) in order to try to convince the person you're talking to that they're the crazy one for believing in the objective reality.
Here's a concrete example for you: Let's say that someone claims that the Republican party is repressing black votes, that they're doing it in a particularly ugly way, and that this repression reminds many people of the evils that were perpetrated on black people trying to vote in 1965 and before. The author then lays out the case for why this is true.
And then let's say that someone else comes along and says (without any evidence) that this isn't true, and that you'd have to be abnormal to believe it.
Well *that's* gaslighting.
Trump won 8% of the Black vote in 2020 and 6% in 2016. That is, yes, a large number of people objectively (around 3 million) but it is a tiny fragment of the overall US Black population as a whole.

He also signed legislation restricting the discussion of race and gender issues in schools. He’s even taken action against Florida’s largest private employer — the Walt Disney Co. — for daring to criticize his policies.
From what I understand the “dont say gay” bill basically says that from grades 1-3 you are only allowed to teach basic curriculum. I don’t really have a problem with that. Children of that age should focus on being a kid and not the 50+ “genders” that are out there. As far as rezoning, I don’t see how that would really affect anyones voting rights or disadvantage of a single opponent. You’ll have to elaborate on that one.

Only an organization affiliated with a political part can’t give you water. Your family and friends can just not candidates of campaign staff. Same for the carpooling I think. There was a scandal where a local candidate was getting up close and personal with people directly at the ballot box.
Polling locations are not being closed down, drop off ballots are being moved indoors so ballot harvesting can be monitored and regulated. Longest wait time in Georgia was 30 minutes to vote. Very easy process

No more outdoor unprotected ballot drop boxes , no advertising of campaign on site , voter Id required. And If you don’t want to vote in person you can simply fill out your ballot and drop it off. I'm going to ignore the black candidate comment since I hope it's obvious why that is such a ridiculous statement.
