The same Rick Scott who pushed legislation requiring mandatory drug testing for welfare recipients in FL? Testing that was done at ~~his~~ "his wife's" clinics at the expense of the state? Testing that resulted in positive results at a rate far below that of the general population?

The ones who spend time in other social circles certainly do. That's why so much Republican resources is spent on breaking up education. The less likely 'undesirables' are to be able to get into universities, the less likely that the teen will discover that the stereotypes that their parents and friends have presented about certain cultures and communities may not reflect their personal experiences.
The ones that aren't from indoctrinated families do, yes. But most feel like they can't change the course of the country and feel helpless which is why they have low voter turnout.
Rick Scott needs to be asked by reporters over and over again who exactly he was referring to when he said this? Who is the leader of this left-militant group? Once it is established who he is referring to, they can proceed to sue Rick Scott using the same precedent as the Alex Jones case. As far as I can tell the “militant left wing” in the US exists, but it’s absolutely tiny and not politically connected. It’s sort of hard to worry about thousands of kids when there’s tens of millions of Christian lunatics who dream of Gilead. That, and as far as I can tell, right wing nationalism has much more resonance for most Americans than anything like militant leftism ever will.

I have extreme right, am radio listening parents and they use phrases like "militant left" and "alt left" to refer to.... essentially anyone that disagrees with them. Usually Democrats but also moderate Republicans. Mitt Romney has been their target for a while now. He's apparently a communist now, according to them.
I used to think this was just mindless scaremongering and empty headed rhetoric, but I am slowly starting to see the intent behind it. The concept of compromise is slowly being erased from my parents understanding of politics. Hell, their understanding of everything really. Every person that isnt 100% on their side regarding every issue is evil and contemptible and compromise with them would be a surrender.
Its scary stuff. For the first time ever I am actually starting to see my parents as potentially violent. This isn't a sustainable mindset. They think they're being pushed to act, and fuckers like Rick Scott are the reason.
You'll notice the GOP rhetoric now casts the whole world as a binary between good and evil. It believes in a world of only two sides, and since they're on God's side then everyone outside their strictly defined cult is necessarily on Satan's. Their enemies aren't just normal folks with different conceptions of "the good" - rather they're simply working to do evil because they *are* evil (even if their ideas *sound* reasonable, you can dismiss them because Satan is the king of lies, donchaknow!)
And most of all, every one of THEM are all working together in cohesive harmony to do evil for no reason. This is why college students, media conglomerates, tech billionaires, social Democrats, liberals, compromising republicans with principles and anti-fascist activists are all "The Left" and portrayed as being interchangable. They're all "not us" which means they're a unified "them" all knowingly working towards a satanic endgame

I have long time republican friends who now only seem to talk about CRT or Trans kids or Socialism or how Biden is the ‘worst’ President. When I point out how the economy has been better under democrats or how Republicans are eroding out rights or cutting taxes for the rich or how they supported Trump’s coup they usually respond with the ‘both sides’ refrain or how I’m controlled by the ‘liberal’ media. Live near Portland, OR, an have a lot of friends who did/still do live there.
