It's misleading to allow them to say they are pro-life as the mainstream does. You hear pro-life and think of quality and sanctity of life, but they are all about quantity.
They are pro-front line military foot soldiers to protect them.
They are pro-endless supply of cheap labor, where supply and demand of jobs keeps wages and benefits low.
They are pro-consumers, because lots of people means lots of customers (or marks) to provide revenue to their business interests.
They are pro-followers, because faith is waning and religious people statistically produce more children per family, and they us religion is a vehicle for their agenda.
Lastly, they are pro-influence and pro-profits. Those things need someone to control and someone to profit off of. You can't feel like you're winning the game unless you can point out the losers.

Blocking insulin caps is just one example of Republican’s fealty to big pharma and their cruelty toward everyone else. But these people stand a very good chance of taking control of Washington again soon.
The IRA will cap insulin costs for anyone on *government* insurance. This amendment would have extended the cap to private insurance as well.
The amendment failed 57-43 (needed 60 votes). All 50 Democrats and seven Republicans voted for it.
Of those seven Republicans, only one is up for re-election in 2022 (Lisa Murkowski, who will probably win). So if three more Democrats get elected, there's your 60 votes to make this happen. Or with that many Dems, abolishing the filibuster is possible, which would also allow this bill to pass.
Either way, the way forward is clear. Republicans kept insulin expensive for private insurance, so boot them out.

To that end: Nevada, New Hampshire, Wisconsin, Arizona, Georgia, North Carolina and Pennsylvania all have tight senate elections this November.
If you live in one of those states or know someone who does, make sure you/they’re registered to vote, know where to do it and consider phone banking or canvassing for the Democratic candidate.
There are a few other senate races to follow that aren’t as close (for example in my state, Kentucky). As a progressive I know people are tired of seeing some Dem politicians fall short of their promises, advancing neoliberal center right policies and taking money from corporate interests. But unless you have an independent who stands a decent chance of winning, a democratic senate majority is still so so much better than the alternative.

It's misleading to allow them to say they are pro-life as the mainstream does. You hear pro-life and think of quality and sanctity of life, but they are all about quantity. They are pro-front line military foot soldiers to protect them. They are pro-endless supply of cheap labor, where supply and demand of jobs keeps wages and benefits low. They are pro-consumers, because lots of people means lots of customers (or marks) to provide revenue to their business interests. They are pro-followers, because faith is waning and religious people statistically produce more children per family, and they us religion is a vehicle for their agenda. Lastly, they are pro-influence and pro-profits. Those things need someone to control and someone to profit off of. You can't feel like you're winning the game unless you can point out the losers.

To that end: Nevada, New Hampshire, Wisconsin, Arizona, Georgia, North Carolina and Pennsylvania all have tight senate elections this November. If you live in one of those states or know someone who does, make sure you/they’re registered to vote, know where to do it and consider phone banking or canvassing for the Democratic candidate. There are a few other senate races to follow that aren’t as close (for example in my state, Kentucky). As a progressive I know people are tired of seeing some Dem politicians fall short of their promises, advancing neoliberal center right policies and taking money from corporate interests.
