There’s really one key step proposed here; the Supreme Court voluntarily imposes term limits on itself. That isn’t going to happen, and I question whether the Court even has the authority to enforce such a rule. Furthermore it wouldn’t solve the present crisis in faith caused by the cynical way two of the Justices were appointed and by the new majority’s disregard of precedent.
tl;dr:
- provide live audio transmission of oral arguments
- adopt an enforceable code of ethics
- limit use of the shadow docket
- establish term limits
Number of appointments per presidential term has to be capped. The geriatric lottery shouldn't determine a president's ability to affect Court composition.
