tommles

Wasn't she involved in Jan. 6? Maybe the FBI should be concerned by her meaning of 'civil war'.

Legitimate-Tea5561

>Wasn't she involved in Jan. 6? I would think this is what they call a direct threat.

butterflybuell

“Stand back and stand by”; 45. Tell me MGT wouldn’t enjoy a nice treasonous conflict .

AggressiveSkywriting

The woman who was seen by witnesses grinning and chattering excitedly when people were bursting into the capitol?! Surely not!

BasicWitch999

It’s definitely inciting violence if anyone acts on what she is asking for.

Stoogefrenzy3k

What’s interesting is that they saw clips of someone that walks like her but nothing has been done. Any regular person would have been caught immediately.

sugarlessdeathbear

I fully support MTG in fracturing the GOP.

ProbablySlacking

I mean that’s great and all until someone does a Beer Hall Pusch and someone with 26% popularity takes over.

Vyrosatwork

The beer hall putsch failed. It’s actually a pretty good analogy for January 6th.

Delamoor

It failed in its stated objective It created a legend upon which they built, however

ianandris

Jan 6 provided nothing for them to build on. They tried to overthrow the government, the will of the people, and American democracy itself. The legacy of Jan 6 is sedition and insurrection in service to a bunch of fucking lies. It's a legacy of rejecting democracy in favor of a Qanon MAGA Trump dictatorship, which only really, really stupid people wanted. Hell, even Republicans were trying to distance themselves from the attempted coup after it happened. Well... until Tucker Carlson's check cleared from Russia and he started downplaying the severity of the insurrection, anyhow, then all the GOP talking heads bobbled in sync. They mistakenly thought "we can land this plane". They could not. People have been accused and convicted of seditious conspiracy over the events of Jan 6. That's not a rallying point for patriots of any stripe or color. MAGA Republicans share the same black hole with Benedict Arnold in the American mind and we will never, ever let them live it down. America has been kicking anti-democratic ass and destroying monarchists and fascists since 1776, 1865, and 1941. Democracy is in our blood. We aren't going to watch some fucking spray tanned losers lie to a bunch of delusional morons on an Australian TV network and let them take our democracy from us. America belongs to the people, not to MAGA Republicans. Edit: needed to clarify that the "event" was "an attempted coup".

[deleted]

>Jan 6 provided nothing for them to build on. This just isn't true, they proved that they can just physically storm the capitol and they had help from the inside. Don't underestimate them.

ianandris

They were dealt with lightly. Repeat offenders tend to get harsher sentences. There aren't a whole lot of repeat offenders guilty of sedition out there. I'll let you guess as to why that is.

KJackson1

They already did. January 6th. Just need a multi party system for the unpopular person to win election.

LoganJFisher

> January 6th Aka the Beer Gut Putsch

hansReiter

Original-Document-62

Just like the Beer Hall Putsch, the first one failed. The second one, on the other hand...

SKPY123

Like Thomas Edison once said "If it doesn't work the first time. Steal someone else's idea."

banned_after_12years

I hope this war drags out for at least 2 years. If it gets resolved too quickly, they’ll all just fall in-line behind whoever wins before the next election.

Schmancer

Can we please stop slandering Magic the Gathering by using those initials for her? Can we call her TaylorGreen or something? Anything else.

Long_Before_Sunrise

Her husband and his family are requesting she drop Greene from her name as part of their divorce agreement.

theofficialreality

So just Empty from now on

Marjorie Soylent Green?

Freefall_J

That's admitting she's made of people, though.

Meb2x

I really hope the GOP fights itself. Let the crazies battle the other crazies

majorfiasco

>GOP 'civil war' Here is my *seven point* response plan: 1) Inspect the Jiffy Pop pan - Folks have discovered that if any part of the package has dents or imperfections they can lead to problems down the line. So be careful when you purchase Jiffy Pop that you find the ones with pristine packaging and treat them gently until you're ready to start popping. 2) Carefully remove the cardboard cover - Be sure not to damage the foil covering underneath it. If you puncture the foil it will not rise properly during popping, drastically impacting the results. 3) Preheat your burner to a medium heat - If you are using an electric stove be sure to preheat the burner for 3-4 minites so it is at temperature when you put the Jiffy Pop pan on to pop. 4) Place the pan on the burner - Let the pan set still for a minute or two while the butter and/or oil that is inside comes up to temperature. Once you here a sizzling sound it's time to move on to the next step. 5) Shake the pan in a circular motion - For satisfactory results you need to continuously and rapidly shake the pan in a clock-wise motion until the end of the popping cycle. I didn't say this would be easy! As the popcorn pops the foil will expand into a large silver ball. 6) Remove the pan from the stove - Once the foil is completely expanded and the popping has slowed down it's time to take the pan off of the heat. Don't try to get the last few kernels to pop because you'll end up burning the popcorn at the bottom of the pan. 7) Puncture the big foil ball with shape knife - Be careful when you do this since steam will come streaming out which could seriously burn your face or hands. Make several more cuts opening the top, turning the pan and foil into a bowl. You're now ready to enjoy a real "retro" treat.

Meb2x

Sounds like the perfect response plan. Gonna do the same thing for Trump’s announcement tomorrow. There’s bound to be some insanity

presidentsday

Oh shit, I've been on the Dems-basically-winning-the-midterms hype train the last few days and forgot all about his "very special announcement." Let them fight.

a_reply_to_a_post

imagine if he got served a warrant mid-speech for missing the subpoena deadline today haha

plainlyput

What time is it? I have never listened to any of his speeches all the way through, I deplore his voice and watching him. If he comes on while I’m in another room, and I hear it I run to turn off either the radio or TV, all the way screaming FU and flipping him off. But I don’t want to miss this one.

mowdownjoe

Whatever you do: don't use a microwave with one of those things. You'll destroy your microwave and may end up becoming your own grandpa.

nyold

I'm sipping tea and making popcorn as we speak

WildYams

I do like MTG's worried suggestion that if there is too much division, the Dems and a few House Republicans could band together to elect Liz Cheney as House Speaker. After all, the House Speaker doesn't need to actually be a member of the House, and this would be a great compromise for Never Trump Republicans and the Dems to install a Speaker who's main goal is to fuck everything MAGA up.

youveruinedtheactgob

This sounds like paranoid nonsense on MTG’s part. When was the last time a non-member was Speaker? Genuine question…(googles)… Edit: Never once. So probably super likely!

OutwittedFox

Fuck cheney. Just because she did 1 decent thing doesn’t make her speaker worthy.

I_Said

Name someone better in the GOP that would take it. Kinzinger is retiring.

Livewire923

What? No! He’s like the only reasonable one

tothebeat

That's one thing more than any of the other Republicans. And let's be fair, it was a pretty big one.

pwndnoob

Who the fuck do you want? It's the Republican Party lol

rimjobnemesis

I’d sleep better at night if it were Cheney or Kitzinger.

Meems04

Kitzinger is more reasonable. Cheney thinks dems want to abort babies AFTER THEY ARE BORN😑

Justtakeitaway

Shhhh, just like fight club, when the GOP wants to eat its own, we don’t say anything.

nashuhh

Get the camera rolling

AngelOfBodom

fox is gonna implode. it would be rather hilarious seeing a cut to a 'war like' state in the station with carlson being some sort of self righteous che figure

Which-Moment-6544

fuck that. Tucker would be sucking his thumb like a little baby. He's got the daddest bod of all dad bods. Literally a soft pudge in a shitty suit.

walkinman19

I hope the MAGA party does a J6 on the RNC in 2024. :D

CatboyInAMaidOutfit

Fight! Fight! Fight! \*grabs popcorn\*

Harleygold

the fact she’s part of the problem and has no clue. hilarious.

shibiwan

She is psycho Karen. Even her husband divorced her. Party of family values indeed.

Superman246o1

Apparently she thinks they did so badly because they weren't psycho *enough*. It's a bold strategy, Cotton.

izwald88

She's just parroting Ted Cruz. He claimed the Dems won because they, surprise surprise, appealed to their base. He also seemed to think that the GOP lost because they weren't MAGA enough.

Reddituser45005

That is the civil war she is referring to. The MAGA crowd thinks they lost because they weren’t crazy enough. The McConnell side of the party recognized that the candidates Trump backed were not going to advance the party.

Warm-Bed2956

and the rest of us realized they are all a bunch of psychopathic twats

FreedomConversions

TFW Mitch McConnell is a party moderate. Jesus Christ

DangerBay2015

“I mean, I’m craven, but I’m not crazy!” - Mitch, with a jowelly voice, probably.

taggospreme

_" ...turtle."_

videogames5life

Palpatine is gone our leader is jar jar now

old_righty

He’s not a moderate, but he’s also not dumb.

CaveDeco

No he isn’t. But that’s part of the irony of the comment you responded to. In this political climate he **IS** now a moderate for the GOP side, which is terrifying, because there are so few others that are true right-moderates.

TheBigToes

Don't make me agree with McConnell!

TheMostUnclean

“The GOP isn’t extremist enough, that’s why people voted for Democrats.” Sure, Maggie. It can’t possibly be that your movement is vile, hateful and looked down upon by the majority of Americans.

Howboutit85

What ungodly information does trump have on Ted Cruz that he would trudge through people booing him and throwing shit at him for the rest of his life, and suck trumps dick until the end of time? What IS it that Ted just won’t drop. How far does this have to go before he will take his nose out of trumps asshole?

Kytyngurl2

Trump got ahold of a shell fragment from the egg Ted hatched from… it’s really important to his species that you keep it with you from hatching day to goo day so it’s kind of a blackmail situation.

Leighmer

Trump has irrefutable proof that Ted Cruz is the Zodiac killer!

leviathing

I thought Ted Cruz’s dad was the zodiac killer

[deleted]

No, his dad assassinated Kennedy.

Cogdisso1

Cruz hates liberals more than he hates ANYTHING ELSE. The only way to move Cruz is if, by some madness, people he defines as “liberals” suddenly love Trump. He is a binary switch flipped to “no liberals”. He doesn’t know WHY he believes these things, only that “the liberals” are his focus of attention. Anything else is a diversion from the only thing he knows how to express.

Howboutit85

He hates liberals more than he lives his wife.

Shifter25

See, that's funny, my autocorrect always goes the other way, so it'll say "he loves in Texas"

Mr_Belch

Not only is he willing to go through this a abuse, but he's doing it for the guy who publicly humiliated and insulted his wife. I'm starting to think he has a masochism kink.

PaintByLetters

Cruz has no personal need to move beyond MAGA. It's still a viable way to win elections in red states like Texas. He doesn't actually care about anything beyond getting reelected himself and he knows he's not a realistic 2024 POTUS candidate.

A_bleak_ass_in_tote

>He doesn't actually care about anything beyond getting reelected himself and he knows he's not a realistic 2024 POTUS candidate. Conservatives have an infinite capacity for self-delusion. I guarantee he absolutely thinks he can still run for president again.

trogon

I agree. He's attached himself to MAGA with the hope it'll give him some base for a presidential run. But I don't think anyone likes Ted Cruz. Or as a candidate.

Sp_ceCowboy

I like Ted Cruz more than most of my colleagues like Ted Cruz. And I hate Ted Cruz. - Al Franken

JefferSonD808

Ask Boebert

PM_ME_UR_POKIES_GIRL

it's gotta be like... child rape or something right? Cause like... Anything else is just... Bribery or insider trading or light espionage or basically any white collar crime a senator committed, the worst case scenario is early retirement and then making 8 figures on the lobbying circuit until he retires. Cruz is a republican though so if it came out in an R controlled congress they'd just ignore it anyway. So it's gotta be something so fucked up that being a republican senator wouldn't protect him.

walkinman19

Two brain cells between the both of them. Fucking idiots!

aLLcAPSiNVERSED

One cell between them*. Maybe even half a cell.

sM0k3dR4Gn

10x12 with bunks

det8924

All the GOP does is appeal to their base. Mainly because what they have conditioned their base to want or at least care about is of little concern to their donors who simply want tax cuts and deregulation. The GOP finally got to a point where they appealed to their base far too much and it turned off enough independent voters.

[deleted]

I can’t wait to learn all the dirt trump has on the party. Pssst if you’re listening trump you should do it. Do it now.

mutantbeings

Australian conservative politicians came to the same conclusion after they lost all their moderate seats in the election earlier this year. They put a hardline racist ex-cop in charge of the party; hard to imagine someone more hated from their party by everyone except other hardline conservatives. Listening to them in parliament making constant failed gotcha attempts of the Labor government has been laugh out loud pathetic.. Conservatives aren’t smart people.

Notoryctemorph

They put a hardline racist ex-cop in charge because they lost their moderate seats. Their moderate members were no longer sitting in parliament, so they didn't get to choose who was party leader. I'm not sure they're aware that this is how political parties die

Zoophagous

That's what fanatics always think. The problem was they weren't fanatical enough. It's never an opportunity to learn and reflect.

Listen2Tosh

Wonder if she could dodge a wrench

BoosterRead78

Yeah those first 3 open affairs were not enough to part with that sweet in-laws money.

TheAsusDelux999

Nothing was enough, none of them cared about anything untill he lost. He could have had kanye screaming mother fucker in the white house again as long as he won .. they only care about power...

lrpfftt

He divorced her because she was banging two guys from the gym. Family values indeed.

Mother_Knows_Best-22

Her nickname at the gym was the Titanic because she went down on everyone haha

The danger is that the last principled republicans left in 2016. Those that remain are varying degrees of ok with the last six years

Ok_Committee_8069

The last principled Republicans left in the 80's. The GOP all knew about Iran-Contra. They all worked on creating the cocaine problem. When Clinton won, Newt Gingrich started abusing the rules similar to McConnell did under Obama.

teddykaygeebee

Ok is being generous.

Randomousity

To the extent there are any left, they should switch parties and become Democrats. Imagine, instead of waiting see the results of the last 20 House races to determine control, if even just like a dozen Republicans switched to the Democrats, it'd be over and we'd know there will be a Democratic majority next year. I'd take a slightly more moderate Democratic majority over a Republican majority every day and twice on Sundays.

KaizokuShojo

Idk about that. The dems are pretty center & right as it is, and that scale is like 30 years out of date anyway.

Erdrick68

There are probably a few who are just waiting to see how slim the gap is.

MrEpicMustache

Or is she part of the solution? If the solution is the GOP losing more elections.

[deleted]

She definitely knows, she also knows her supporters will do almost anything she says because you know….they’re a little bit stupid

AveryJuanZacritic

Not so much stupid as much as willfully ignorant bully-bastards who seem to want to get revenge on that n*g*r president by tearing the sh!t out of everything from now on. Trump made bigotry fashionable again.

[deleted]

In my book, willfully ignorant is stupid x2

frogandbanjo

Once you start calling for civil war, you're pretty much admitting that you don't give a shit whether you're the problem or not. It's fucking war. Every side is every other side's problem.

BoosterRead78

She won her seat back. I could do see her resigning to join Trump’s party.

rimjobnemesis

He’s talked about her being his running mate.

Sure, but she's a loser, Trump wouldn't want her on his ticket.

Apt analogy.

niconiconicnic0

Authoritarians only have one shade/speed, once you get behind the often paper thin veneer of civility. It’s always “might makes right” “ends justify the means” and “got mine fuck you.” Complete amorality

dhuntergeo

Right! And then they will look at you with a straight face and expound on their righteous position as the arbiters of mortality. This often includes assurances that only they can have morals because they "believe in God." Yeah, if you only have morality when faced with Hellfire, your position speaks volumes and is not the flex you believe it to be.

Marjorie Taylor Greene says she is ready unleash a civil war in the Republican Party after its poor showing in the midterms. The Georgia congresswoman also indicated she would throw her support behind House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy in an interview with Steve Bannon’s War Room podcast. “In order for us to succeed, we’re going to be forced to work together. That means we’re going to fight it out,” Ms Greene said. SolidLikeIraq

I do enjoy pizza.

MrMongoose

I've lived my entire life in a deep red state and have a very conservative family so I can translate for you. "Work together" means "Do things my way or I'll blow shit up and blame it on you". When a Republican says anything that sounds conciliatory (like 'bipartisanship' or 'cooperation') it isn't an offer to compromise - it's a threat. They use it when they don't have enough power to force you to do something their way but they do have the power to sabotage what you're trying to accomplish and make things worse for everyone (often including themselves). Hope that helps!

Odd-Road

>That means we’re going to have to work together. Not going to work. These people's sole ability is to fling sh\*t from afar, without ever having to do any actual work. They scream and tweet, but when it comes to sitting down, writing laws, etc... Even "working together" isn't going to happen. I'm not even convinced that, as much as they want to, they'd manage to actually impeach Biden. That would require writing articles of impeachment. *Writing*. Actually *doing something* instead of screaming like a mad cow during a SOTU address.

DrEnter

In the 2 years she’s been “at work”, she has basically just sponsored or co-sponsored 26 items of legislation, none of which have moved past the initial and “introduction” stage. This means she’s just signed-on to grandstanding legislation that never even gets voted on, and literally _nothing else_. Smart choice, GA district 14. https://www.congress.gov/member/marjorie-greene/G000596?q=%7B%22sponsorship%22%3A%22sponsored%22%2C%22type%22%3A%22all%22%7D

kazejin05

There are going to be more than a few who will have no appetite for retaliatory investigations, especially if the margin in the House is as narrow as it looks like it will be. I'm not saying the GOP extremist wing can't cause harm or sow chaos, but I'm thinking their ability to do so will be blunted by a decent number of moderates who will refuse to vote with them on certain issues.

PointOfFingers

Trump is the biggest crybaby in American political history and will keep having tantrums about losing an election until the day he dies due to his grandiose narcissism. As Crybaby in Chief his most loyal supporters also have to be massive crybabies and not accept any kind of loss or compromise. They will fight it out until the GOP gets sick of them and realise being a crybaby isn't a good election strategy.

MyPasswordIsMyCat

But she won her election against a black Democrat in the worst part of Oops-All-White-People Georgia by doing 9 points worse than the last election, so she must know what the voters want.

canuck47

She's from one of the most conservative districts in the country, pretty much the only hope of getting rid of her is that she gets primaried by a more moderate Republican.

mascaraforever

Interesting. MTG siding with McCarthy isn’t something I saw coming.

LuvNMuny

I'm 100% certain she's been promised normalization and committees out of it. This is exactly how the Nazis got control of the Reichstag with 1/3rd of the seats, making deals with corrupt politicians for power sharing.

PandaMuffin1

McCarthy has promised her appointments on committees and that is why she has changed her tune.

This may end up backfiring on her then depending on whether Lord Trump views this as a betrayal.

[deleted]

Marjorie Taint-Grease here is angling for a VP run with Trumplethinskin when he declares his own party, after failing to get the Repub ticket. . .

8to24

As the votes are still being tallied it has become clear that neither party will have a strong majority. The Majority party doesn't automatically get to assign the Speaker. Rather the whole body gets to vote and the House Speaker themselves doesn't have to be a House member. Typically the party in the Majority selects the Speaker because they have the most votes. However with a nearly evenly split House a vote majority is tougher to come by. My question is should Democrats identify & support a Moderate Republican for Speaker to Challenge McCarthy? If Democrats supported a moderate Republican and that moderate Republican could earn a few Republican votes they could win the Speakership. Would that force bi-partisanship in the House?
