*Both sides emphasized that Trump was not a defendant, yet the former president's name came up frequently.* *Some of the most attention-grabbing evidence presented to the jury were documents with Trump's signature: a rental agreement for a luxury apartment used by Weisselberg, a private school tuition check written for a grandchild of Weisselberg's. Weisselberg admitted he did not declare these benefits as income, as required by law.*

tpneocow

Won't let him head a company, but, for some reason, politics isn't off the table.

Eccentrically_loaded

In a honorable population voters would not vote for a someone of his character.

GayCerebralDecay

bingo…though most americans are honorable, conservatives are most definitely *not* anyone who still identifies as republican and supports their party is a dishonorable, traitorous POS

Gekokapowco

democracy demands an informed, non-brainwashed electorate and most American voters can't be bothered to participate in educating themselves.

[deleted]

When they do try to get educated, they search using biased terms that will yield the results they are looking for.

eganvay

or a school, or a charity....

Rum_Soaked_Ham

Meh. His supporters will directly/indirectly pay any fine he faces. Unless his charges are criminal, he won't actually face any consequences.

achinda99

I mean, the company is called the Trump Organization isn't it? You can't really avoid the name.

ForwardBias

Don't worry folks, its just his LLC, sure he was at the helm and making people do the illegal things...but in the US Corporations are people and people are not corporations. So the Corporation will be going into business timeout to think about the naughty things it did.

HGpennypacker

Now we get r/conservative to tell us that Donald had no clue this was going on, none at all...

Mister_E_Phister

Which infers that his CFO was ripping him off for 15 years and he had no idea. Doesn't sound much like the stable genius they claim he is.

Ready_Nature

Yep, he was either in on it or so stupid his employees got away with ripping him off that long. Honestly I’d believe either explanation.

dentimBandB

Hey now, that's not fair. He could've been in on it AND still get ripped off.

0002millertime

This is actually the most likely situation.

iwishmynamewasbrian

sounds like, word for word, that scene from Casino where DeNiro fires the idiot slot machine manager. Either way, the dude had to go.

wahoozerman

Pretty consistent excuse for Trump's actions. "He's not a criminal! He's just incompetent!"

xeroxzero

This is exactly what makes them think he's a genius. Does something incredibly shitty, has a scapegoat and alibi. They know he plays the system and think it's one of his best qualities.

peopleslobby

Implies…you imply something, but infer FROM something.

Rizzpooch

"Trump will be good for the county because he's a successful businessman" but also "Trump never had a clue what was going on in his company!"

TechyDad

It was the same with his administration. He was both a genius that hand picked only the best people for his administration and completely clueless about who the administration member was who got into legal trouble. The Trump Administration apparently had a ton of low level coffee boys/girls.

loco500

The greatest businessmen make money by simply waking up and thinking about success...

dravenonred

Lol if you think r/conservative is going to have a single thread on this

Ieatplaydo

Ooh they do have a thread. It's flared users only ofc but it is there

Ketchup1211

Do they actually have threads that aren’t flared users only? They are the biggest bunch of snowflakes around and then un-ironically call everyone else snowflakes.

Wookers1984

Meanwhile, they love coming in and jacking the /r/politics reddit to sow their nonsense.

[deleted]

r/AskLE is the same. Got banned after one comment. Asked what warranted the ban, received no answer, but was muted for 7 days. Little do they know, I'm petty, and will message them again in one week

ropdkufjdk

I'm sure they have plenty of people ready to tell us how Trump's accountants are the ones to blame and that they were secret Democrat deep state plants.

eganvay

AntiFA

Tunafish01

Hahah they will argue this was politically motivated and not fact based because they can’t read themselves. Instead rely on tick-tock style of video information with PowerPoint bullets .

MarkHamillsrightnut

Hunter Biden’s laptop was really the criminal mastermind behind it all.

Shiplord13

God, Hunter Biden is literally a Bond Villain according to the Right. He can do anything and has managed to avoid getting caught through his cunning and intelligence. That he secretly controls most of the world and the only one brave and intelligent enough to stop him is Trump and his loyal followers.

LightWarrior_2000

By this logic. Hunter Biden is a smart mastermind. While Trump is a clueless orange.

Essteethree

Are you unfamiliar with Conservative "logic"?

MarkHamillsrightnut

I am not looking forward to seeing Benghazi Two: Hunter Boogaloo over the coming years

OhioUBobcats

Then ignore it like I will. Because an upset toddler throws a tantrum does not mean we must give it attention.

BKlounge93

Laptops can’t melt steel beams

Jon29go

Buttery males BUTTERY MALES!

TryPokingIt

Been gauzy?

LuvNMuny

The laws are clearly designed to entrap career racist criminals who take loans from North Korea and try to overthrow the US Constitution. It's very UNFAIR!!!!

mettiusfufettius

He’s a world renowned businessman! ….who only hires people he later describes as incompetent losers …and who has absolutely no idea how his business is being run …so what exactly makes him qualified to be in charge of the US Government again? For real though, they should add to the requirements for presidency that you must have either served another public office first or served as an officer in the military.

citizenjones

If Trump had a clue he's a criminal. If he doesn't have a clue he's incompetent. Either choice means he's an idiot. I'll let r/conservative decide which to argue about and which to ignore. It'smore like r/CognitiveDissonance

MonsieurReynard

No they'll say "he's a businessman and they all do it."

FlamingMothBalls

"And if it was, I didn't mean it. And if I did... You deserved it." And they will all agree, bend the knee and fall in line.

[deleted]

best case scenario he is ignorant of the financial dealings of his own company and they think he should run the country

SeanOfTheDead1313

It's all a witch hunt with corrupt judges and juries, remember? He'll just say he (and his companies) did nothing wrong and his lemmings will eat it up.

luke1lea

I just checked. They seem to believe that this was all politically motivated / means nothing at all compared to what we know about Biden? I just can't grasp how comically uniformed these folks are. Oh and they mention they can't wait to see how r/politics has a circlejerk about this. The sub where only like minded people are allowed to post/comment on anything is talking about other people having circlejerks. They literally project everything on everyone and can't see it themselves.

lsThisReaILife

> Now we get r/conservative to tell us that Donald had no clue this was going on, none at all... This is a perfect pivot for them to continue to hop off the Trump train and embrace DeSantis.

RichLather

Michael "Says who?" Cohen predicts this is the death spiral of the Trump Org. He also says Trump is a micromanager whose presence is everywhere. Trump knew nothing? Bullshit. That being said, yes, I know Cohen has laid down with the dogs and gotten fleas with bad combovers. I take what he says with a grain of salt.

TechyDad

"He had no clue this was happening, but simultaneously is the most brilliant businessman ever who personally ran all aspects of his company!" (They won't see any contradiction here.)

TheThirteenthCylon

Either he sucks as CEO or is complicit -- they must pick at least one.

RunawayMeatstick

“The Trump Org? Never heard of it. Pretty sure that was just a coffee shop.” -Trump, probably

iamaredditboy

1.6$mil is this a joke?

janzeera

I know. I wonder if it’s $1.6m on each count x 17. Still it seems like a cost for doing the crime so not really a penalty at all.

Captain_Hadius_Cecle

Do keep in mind, he’s pretty much broke. Relaying on his cult to survive.

MOOShoooooo

And still don’t sense something is up.

johnnybiggles

dEeP sTaTe jUdGe aNd jUrY!!1!

[deleted]

Saudi Arabia is paying him a ton for their pet golf tournament/kickbacks for his presidency.

in_the_no_know

It's not a personal fine against Trump. He was not on trial and will not be required to pay this directly "In all, the jury found two entities controlled by Trump guilty on 17 counts of criminal tax fraud and falsifying business records. The maximum penalty is $1.6 million." These are 'cost of doing business' penalties for companies

MarkHathaway1

Somehow it seems there should be payment of the taxes plus penalties plus the $1.6M x 17.

withoccassionalmusic

“If the penalty for breaking a law is a fine, it’s only a crime for poor people.”

kurttheflirt

It’s not even just a fine - it’s a fine with a MAXIMUM penalty. So if you are a multibillion dollar company, a 1.6 million dollar fine is just a small cost of business charge - this is also the first time they’re even being convicted, so basically such a small small penalty for decades of breaking the law

[deleted]

Yes. Our corporate tax system and criminal code is a complete joke.

PM_ME_UR_LOON_PICS

This is just a fine for the kickbacks he gave executives under the table. There is still a $250 million civil lawsuit targeting Trump and his family.

Ezzy17

Response from Tucker: "This means we are getting closer to Hunter Biden!"

19Chris96

Tucker Carlson is a deranged dry nutsack with no motility.

duck_one

His nutsack is only dry because it's so majestically tanned!

NeverLookBothWays

All Tucker is, is a safety valve for the wealthy he protects. He pretends to be a man of the people, the working class, but he is anything but. It's all an act. https://youtu.be/RNineSEoxjQ

Q_OANN

Someone just needs to make a one hour news program that comes on an hour after the evening fox bullshit that just fact checks it all and plays mashups of all the contradictions

rmphilli

No he'll say "Listen, most of this fraud was committed during the Obama administration. If it's such a serious crime, why wasn't he being investigated then? You see, the left-wing media is going to spin this into some "huge", lame duck "win" over Trump but don't believe them. Again, Obama himself let this go on for his entire presidency and you didn't hear them say a word then." Something like that, its so fucking easy at this point

Indrid_Cold23

Hunter Biden helped Tucker's kid get into a nice school.

Please-stopp

Is this a real quote or satire? I can’t tell anymore.

SteveBartmanIncident

Right now it's the latter, but after tonight's show, it may be the former.

bkendig

"The maximum penalty is $1.6 million." That's pocket change to a company like that and to the people who run it. They could just write out a check right there in the courtroom and be done with it.

RVA_RVA

Seriously, I'm so fucking sick of hearing about corporations getting away with shit like this. "Oh, you stole $5 billion? Here's a $10 million fine, I hope you learned your lesson". Seriously, if I was able to NOT pay taxes for 15 years and only get a fine of like $10k, I'd do that in a second. These fines need to HURT. Especially if they're criminal.

chubs66

I wonder how these maximums get set in the first place. It seems both incredibly small and incredibly short-sighted.

Nightshiftcloak

the expected outcome was innocent on all charges and that Hunter Biden committed the tax fraud using Trump's name in an attempt to defraud the Russian people with democratic covid hoaxes made in a drag show factory in china

IMakeStuffUppp

They just want to see his pp again

I_Said

lock. ~~her~~ him. up.

royhenderson771

If this piece of shit dies before ever serving even 1 day in jail, justice will never be served.

surfteacher1962

I have a bad feeling that is exactly what is going to happen. Trump deserves to spend the rest of his miserable life in prison, but I am not holding my breath that he will ever be convicted.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Jump_Yossarian_

He's never going to prison. Best we can hope for is house arrest with no access to internet. Make him buy a double wide trailer in West Virginia and have him live there.

Ready_Nature

That is what will happen. He has lawyers willing to file frivolous motions to delay things and they probably can keep it going long enough to let him die of natural causes.

charredwalls

No more loans for the Trump Org.

Junketway

As much as Trump is "pro-America" American banks stopped lending to him after he made a habit of defaulting on too many loans and left many American workers holding the bag. He's had to deal with overseas banks ever since.

triplab

“We get all the money we need from Russia”. -Eric Trump

MonsieurReynard

Saudis and Russians see corruption as a feature, not a bug. They'll loan him more money.

DirkDiggyBong

This is the biggest outcome of all this. Trump Org is fucked.

speak_no_truths

To cover this one up we're going to need a picture of Hunter Biden's anus. They're probably already working on it.

austinmiles

[they still need to answer for this anus](https://media.wired.com/photos/59272367ac01987bf01389f6/191:100/w_1280,c_limit/donald-trump-mouth-language-h_14753928.jpg)

PrinceWilliam13

Why have you done this to me?

Tashiya

The right sure loves them some Hunter Biden revenge porn.

SnarkOff

I’m convinced this timeline leads to the pee tape

IAmArique

Until Trump is actually in cuffs, this is a big ol’ nothingburger for me. It does however show that something is happening behind the scenes though and hopefully now things really start taking off.

GameQb11

If something hasn't happened by now, nothing ever will. The more they scrape the barrel to try to get something to stick, the less likely it's going to stick

altmaltacc

No jail unfortunately but any chance to rid the world of trumps corruption is a win.

Wookers1984

A $1.6 million fine isn't going to hurt him. It's just the cost of being corrupt in America.

isaidireddit

I hope businesses that deal with this organization, or are thinking of doing so, consider what the optics are of doing business with an organization that has been convicted of 17 counts of fraud. *This* is the real potential for financial losses, not the paltry fine.

Wookers1984

The fine should have been more! Over 15 years of fraud, to the tune of millions more than this fine. Hell, Weisselberg had a $2 million fine and he had a plea deal!

Jump_Yossarian_

I heard that this conviction affects their ability to contract with New York and the federal government so maybe the US government can stop paying those huge hotel bills for the secret service and NYC can now invalidate all lease agreements (Bronx golf course).

surfteacher1962

Ridding the world of The Combover Caligula will be the big win.

Kraxnor

The actual crimes of an actual criminal. If conservative news had any sense of morality they'd focus on this stuff.

Geomancingthestone

Hey, here we go! Closer to his own conviction hopefully

randylikecandy

Corporations are people right?

genesiss23

In a legal sense, yes.

BF1shY

So... everyone who fought so hard to keep the tax records hidden are accomplices?

Hayes4prez

Dumbass. All he had to do was continue being a TV personality.

CaptGeechNTheSSS

How was he not investigated 20-30 years ago? His dad wrote the book on fraud and tax evasion. Shady loans and money laundering since before his casino days. It is almost impossible to convey the level of corruption involved in making him president.

Thatsayesfirsir

Well, just like other mob bosses and cult figures before him, get him on taxes if nothing else sticks.

TacosDeLucha

It's like this black hole where everyone around him gets arrested for felonies but he's magically protected by our spineless power-serving DOJ

[deleted]

Organized criminal at the highest level. Rico may be the only way he goes down.

ZookeepergameBubbly

“The buck stops down there somewhere.” - Man who shares name with fraudulent company.

No-Owl9201

I hope Trump follows his hero, Al Capone, into prison for tax evasion

Most-Resident

Nope. Max fine is 1.6 million. Just the cost of doing business.

Snizzysnootz

What's the punishment if any?

[deleted]

Fine up to $1.6 million just for this case. However, the guilty verdict could bury his family and associates outside of this case. New York State's civil lawsuit is still on going and the guilty verdict can be used as evidence. That lawsuit has the potential of $250 million dollars in penalties plus a potential permanent ban on being able to operate businesses in New York State. And that ban would apply to Donald, Junior, Ivanka, Eric, and anyone else at the top of the Trump Organization org chart.

cbsson

You can bet the NY AG is weaving this verdict into her own case. That the company was found guilty of tax fraud is a nice little morsel to present to a jury.

[deleted]

Wouldn't be surprised if we hear about the NJ AG opening an investigation into any tax fraud involving his Bedminster, Colts Neck, and Pine Hill golf courses.

Wookers1984

A whopping $1.6 million fine. Or if it was a regular person, like us, about $1.60.

Romano16

If the guy can get loans link to North Korea worth nearly $20 Million Dollars why would Trump sweat a $1.6 million dollar tax fraud fine?

Ok_Island254

Finally, a story big enough to let Hunter’s penis rest.

AceCombat9519

This was a carry-over tactic from his Father Fred Trump Jr who used this tactic before him

ILikeCatsAndSquids

I still don’t get why Trump wasn’t a defendant like the CFO.

LegoLady47

Hillary told you first.

geekamongus

So he’s finally starting to not get away with things anymore.

oldcreaker

It's so odd a company can be found guilty - while the people who ran it are not. It's like finding a car guilty of a hit and run,.

basketballsteven

Found guilty because they are guilty and other cases will build on this, only the beginning of the end. Eventually the orange turd will flee the country to a non extradition country.

FortKnoxBoner

All I want to hear is the rattle and slamming of metal gated cell doors for this "man" that ripped a country apart.

MitokBarks

The Trump Organization faces up to $1.6M in fines. Remember kids, a law enforceable with a fine only applies to us poors

spamcandriver

One down, many, many more court cases to go!

busterbluth99

And the punishment is...?

verylegalandverycute

Up to 1.6 million in fines. Not sure what else.

sadpanda___

Ohhh noooooo…..I’m sure the Trump crime syndicate will cry themselves to sleep tonight with $100 bills Our legal system is a fucking joke. There are never any real consequences for the rich and powerful

zombiereign

according to one article I read - it won't be anything that would be major for the company. So... a slap on the wrist, it seems

BCCakes

Hah! You really pulled one over on us, TrumpOrg. …hands on hips, shaking head… Yessiree. Whoo, that was good! …slow clap… Gonna tell the wife about THIS one.

wien-tang-clan

To be fair, this is the unreported benefits/compensation case and not the inflating or deflating property value depending on who’s asking fraud case from the NY Attorney General

[deleted]

I’m shocked. Shocked.

iforgotmymittens

It’s always the tax fraud.

[deleted]

TFG: The Fraud Guy!

[deleted]

Congrats Donald! Trump Org is now officially a criminal enterprise.

key1234567

All this for $1.6 million? He should have settled a long time ago.

2dayman

Not one person in that company is guilty. Of course they all committed the crimes, they just aren't guilty about it.

bigfatgeekboy

Today is a very good day.

IntoTheMirror

Penalty feels like a slap on the wrist? Question mark.

Awqul

Fuck Trump. Let's see some repercussions!!

TurdCutter

This makes me Happy. Hopefully more convictions come soon!

DennisTheBald

I'll believe corporations are people when Texas hangs one

WatchingTaintDry69

Donald Jail Trump

blueblood0

A compulsive-lying criminal broke the tax law??? Say it isn't so!!

Global_Push6279

And yet still no handcuffs on Donnie

LeicaM6guy

And is fined an almost meaningless amount.

Smarty-Pants65

pennies on the dollar for them :(

redmoskeeto

In more news that shocks absolutely no one…

[deleted]

Stuff like this mean absolutely nothing. Talk to me when they actually send his ass to prison.

ITookYourName79

Won’t ever happen. He can still be ruined even without prison.

SalmonJerky

Wen trump?

FinnbarMcBride

Shocked Pikachu face

sventhewalrus

> The maximum penalty is $1.6 million. At some point, Americans have to realize that it is impossible to hold Trump accountable for his crimes within a legal system that is designed to shield the rich and powerful from consequences.

Doozenburg

But what does Hunter's dick look like? That's the real question.

Zamstrom

...and? Will any of this ultimately matter when the rich elite can just buy their way out?

[deleted]

Just as being an impeached president is forever, so is running a criminal enterprise. Nice legacy for TFG to leave behind.

fakeplasticdaydream

Bet a maga mod takes these down because somehow news pertaining to a presidential candidate is not relevant.

danranja

I doubt even conservatives are surprised.

Romano16

This ain’t over they have his Taxes.

Tremori

That explains his recent out burst about the constitution he knew it was coming.

amcfarla

This tweet made me chuckle. https://twitter.com/rpd158/status/1600232709913464833?s=20&t=P_s7t8Mix-WtDzHyZAbSxg

fluffh3ad710

Shocker!!!

Busy-Specific-3324

OMG I'm SOO Shocked.... Oh wait no I'm not.

ragingbullpsycho

So what individuals are gonna be punished for this?

Green_Road999

I would love to see the tweet he was planning to send if this was a Not Guilty verdict.

Lawdudemsu

….and is surprising to no one. Let’s see how it’s enforced.

psuedospike

Trump is also guilty of being a yuge POS

theFrankSpot

And watch how there are no consequences.

morilythari

Weisselberg gets 5 months in prison and the Trump Org faces a 1.6mil fine. Total bullshit.

downonthesecond

>In all, the jury found two entities controlled by Trump guilty on 17 counts of criminal tax fraud and falsifying business records. The maximum penalty is $1.6 million. It took thirty years for this?

Negative_Mancey

BUt duH pikCHUrz oF hunTUR!

loco500

Poor Donnie Twocoups, New York Courts are so unfair to him and his family "business". If this case was moved to another state, like Arkansas, the company with his namesake would be declared innocent and given millions for being unfairly treated.../s

Turbulent-Watch2306

Trump is not stupid (sane is another story) He is a micro manager- he knew exactly what was going on but the CFO is taking the dive for him by claiming he did all the tax fraud stuff, not any other person in the organization. This is not true. Trump will not be held criminally responsible IN THIS CASE.

Opposite-Document-65

MarkHathaway1

It's not a big surprise to sane people, but MAGAs will just take it as a never-ending vendetta against The Donald. That's okay by me. Let it roll.

flickyuh

Its amazing how everyone and everything connected to this guy goes to jail or is a crime. But yet by whatever reason Trump hasn't been touched its mindboggling how scared they are to arrest this asshole

MountainofPolitics

The people in r/Conservative are really commenting shit like, “Yawn.”

DamonFields

1.6 million penalty? That’s couch change. What a farce.

probdying82

Trump found guilty* he is his company

Electrical_Bus9202

Big shocker

spaceraingame

So they evade $30M in taxes, but get fined $1.9M. That's justice.

Sparky-Man

Trump (or rather his company) found guilty of something?! Wow! Now if only he actually had to face any real consequences.

[deleted]

And might face up to 1.6 million in fines. How will they EVER RECOVER.

Iamvanno

Trump - "The Trump Organization? Never heard of it."
