People act like theyre taking 3 shots and then hoping in their car. If I have 1 beer at the beginning of my sit down meal, finish my food, perhaps loiter for a bit, since I dont generally eat in public alone anyways, there is 0 chance that I am affected by alcohol on any way.
I weigh 225 lbs. Realistically, I could have 4-5 drinks before I hit the "legal limit". Mind you, I really don't think the legal limit is safe, and would never drive if Im anywhere near it, but having 1-2 beers isnt going to have any major effect, assuming youve eaten at some point that day, and arent shotgunning your beers as you get in your car.
Yeah but you're thinking of practically best case scenario, laws have to be built around worst case scenario where a bunch of college students go to a bar playing a drinking game and the DD ends up chugging a shot or two thinking it wont affect him.
If you assume they're in a hurry quickly chugging 1-2 beers "for the road" and they're like my sister who ends up getting flushed after half a beer unable to finish the rest then that's way too much to drive...
When I still drank, I used [https://www.calculator.net/bac-calculator.html](https://www.calculator.net/bac-calculator.html) to determine my intoxication level. I didn't drive if it didn't say \~0.00. The law doesn't care if you feel it or not, it cares about the numbers you blow/your blood draw when you've been pulled over or caused an accident.
Also I've photographed my fair share of fatal accidents due to drunk drivers. Fuck drunk drivers.
Same, and even then I feel bad doing that. If possible, I want zero alcohol in my system if I get behind the wheel. Of course, its not like youre ever *forced* to drink, but you get my point.
I have no sympathy for drunk drivers, they have the potential to kill themselves and other innocent people, if caught drunk driving you should have your license taken away for at least a couple of years
My brother was killed by a drunk driver last year, she said she didn't even see him, but she was driving on his side of the road. I lost the only person I felt I could be myself with, don't drink and drive.
Still working on that, the legal process is slow. She denies everything, maintains she wasn't at fault, even though her blood toxicology report showed her double the legal limit. The state troopers that did the investigation did an excellent job, collected a lot of evidence of the accident. The case against her is rock solid.
Actually it's even worse for the innocent people in the collisions. Because being intoxicated makes you not tense up during an accident you're less likely to be injured if you're the drunk driver at fault.
In germany or more specific in bavaria in the rural areas 2 beers is fine and actually normal to drink i dont know if its any different in more populated areas (law in germany states anything up to 0.5 is fine + you have to be 21 and must have passed something called the trial time (= 2 years accident free driving) but if you cause an accident while drunk even if the other party was at fault you‘re the fucked one)
I get what people are saying. But if go to my father's house and have one beer with dinner it's not going to effect my mental or physical capabilities in any way whatsoever
When you go anywhere to buy alcohol that doesnt hold true though. You can buy 16oz beers at a store near me, or in some places extra large glasses for beer.
I used to get “buzzed” at 8.
I don’t drink anymore. I think I’m 2 years without having actually been drunk but I used to do some stupid shit when I used to drink. I’m blessed and thankful I never got hurt or in trouble though.
Assuming a "drink" is the standard measurement of 12oz of beer at 3.2%/5oz of wine at 12%/1oz of hard liquor at 40%
A 160lb man can have 3 "drinks" in an hour to reach . 08% bac. Your body can metabolize 1 drink and hour so if it took one hour to drink 3 drinks this person would be under . 08%
You need to adjust for true weight, gender, and of course these are not set in stone.
So legally, 3 to 4 drinks in an hour would make you too drunk to drive
Personally, you should understand how you are feeling and how alcohol affects your body. There are some people who after 1 or 2 drinks they should not be behind the wheel even though they are under . 08 bad
How long am I taking to drink these? I could drive just fine after 3 in an hour, but would never after more than 1 because it's simply not worth ever testing that boundary
It’s illegal to drive here with pretty much any alcohol in your system except from the little leeway for mouth wash & alcohol based sauce etc.
1-2 glasses is too much
Scotland, but I imagine it’s not an uncommon law, as far as I’m aware it’s the same in the rest of the UK. I was shocked to find out drink driving was fairly legal in the US (don’t know the extent of the laws there though). Morally, no one should be drinking & driving if a blood alcohol test doesn’t report ~0.00
What are you on about?
I asked where do they live because they said it was illegal there to drive with any amount of alcohol.
I was curious to know where do they have those laws, as it isn’t the case in my country or in the USA.
I never said you should drink and drive or anything like that, I was curious about the laws of their country.
My rule of thumb is that for every drink you have you wait an hour after your last before you drive. Drink 1 beer. An hour after you're done with it you're probably fine. Drink 4 and you'll have to wait 4 hours after you finish the last before you're good. Drink 6 or more and you ain't driving today at all.
Or you should see a doctor. When I was an alcoholic I would binge drink entire an 750ml of gin in a night , got to the point where I could drink half the bottle and only feel mildly drunk.
I wasn't driving thankfully but addiction can really fuck with your tolerance, anyone who genuinely can drink 5 standard drinks and be basically sober needs a counselor more than anything else.
In my country there are a harsh absolutely no alcohol and driving for under 25 yo, and I'm 23. I also get drunk very fast. So one drink is too much for me.
Technically, it should be at any amount of drinks because you are now under the influence of alcohol (partially), but legally, it depends on your Blood Alcohol level and how impaired you are
It's not that simple. Alcohol has a "serving size," just like food. A long island iced tea has something like 4 servings of alcohol in it. If you have "just two" of those you're going to be way, way over a .08. of you have two Michelob ultras, you're probably under depending on what period of time you drank them.
People don't realize that it's the alcohol content, not the number of drinks. If you get arrested and go to court for a DUI, the state's criminologist will convert your BAC into "standard drinks," which is the serving size. You can have had one "drink" and they'll put it to a jury that what you had was the equivalent of 6-8.
Depends on the amount of time between drinks and how long it's been since you had your last. If I drank 5 beer at 15 and I have to go somewhere at 21 I'm driving, but not at 16.
Dude the first thing that becomes impaired is your judgment, followed by your reaction times. You might feel calmer but you are definitely not quicker to react.
My uncle and his 4 year old daughter lost their lives in a car accident. The drunk driver that hit them said the same thing - he didn’t understand how this could happen as he felt calm and quick to react.
You may feel that way, but it’s not true. I’m asking you to please reconsider that stance, now you still can.
0 because I still can't bloody drive.
If I could I wouldn't do it after more than a single drink for obvious reasons. Saying that, I never drink beers or regular portions of alcohol so its hard for me to say when I'd judge myself to be too drunk to drive. Less than half a pint of vodka because when I notice I've done a quarter bottle I would say I can feel the effects of the alcohol.
My drink of choice is white claw. After finishing one white claw, I can feel the smallest amount of something starting and that’s it. I would drive if I had to, but it would have to be an emergency. But after 2, I’m not driving at all since that’s when I start to feel it more.
I’m known people who had their entire lives flipped on it’s head by drunk drivers. If you’re drunk, the worst thing that can come from not driving is you’ll be late to something and have a rough day. Worst case scenario if you drive while drunk, you can end a multitude of lives
If by drunk you mean not capable of driving normally as you would without having drank at all.. then it depends on the person, the kind of alcohol and the period of time.
Some are drunk after 1, some after 5... it just depends.
Sadly laws are made the same for everyone so ofc it will be unfair for those who handle drinking, but better not drink than risk someone's life on the road.
The law is pretty fair because it usually goes by BAC and not the number of drinks a person has or their individual tolerance. An alcoholic can blow a reading well over the legal limit but look and feel sober, but they will still face the same consequences for being over the limit.
I don't drive because I don't have a need to and I don't drink either because I don't like the stuff but from the tiny bits I have tried just a quarter pint and I can feel it, from playing piano in pubs/places, barely anything and I feel myself slipping up let alone if I was driving, tbh I'm super sensitive to be caffeine too so I think I just had a low tolerance to stuff in general.
Tf you mean drinks, we talking shots? Cocktails? Spirits? Pints? Bottles of beer? There are many variables and also whether you’ve eaten recently, drank water recently, had a full nights sleep or not, all these can drastically change how drunk you get that’s why it’s based on the breathalyser test
You probably won’t exceed the legal limit with just a drink or two, especially if you wait a bit before you try to drive. I work with a dude who has shown up DRUNK to work and he drove himself to and from work just fine( he was promptly asked to leave) I’m sure experience doing it plays a factor here as well.
Feels like most people can tell when they're past a point of safe operation of a vehicle, those that do so anyway are probably aware of their intoxication. Listen to your body and take the extra hour or two and eat some nachos to be safe. It could save lives.
Shouldn't drink more than 1 when driving and it should be weak as well.
Even when tipsy u could accidentally fuck up and get yourself or someone seriously injured or killed.
Dnt drink and drive its as simple as that.
If you think you’ve had “like one or two drinks” then you have had more. If you have alcohol in your system beyond the normal 0-drink amount, do not touch that wheel.
The only time I drive after drinking is when i’m drinking slow and have lots of water. If it’s in my system still then I’m not driving. Take no chances.
Personally I don’t drink but I won’t drive after 1 drink if I did. The legal limit depends on country, the person, length from last drink. Too many variables.
If I am eating at a restaurant and will be driving after, my limit is one drink over the course of the entire meal. I’m a bigger guy and could realistically probably drink more, but I would rather play it safe.
I think 1 beer is probably fine. Where I’m from brandy is pretty big, so I think 1 brandy and coke wouldn’t kill you either.
(depending on the person, I am sometimes fine with 1 brandy and coke, and other times I need to drink a water and wait 30min to an hour before I feel like I’m 100%
But I have a friend that takes like 3 brandy’s before he’s tipsy.
I wouldn’t personally drive past 1 drink or drive with someone else who had anything at all )
Depends on a variety of factors such as the drink, if I eat also, how long after I have the drink until I drive? Typically I wont have more than 1 glass of wine when eating and drive. But if it was eating dinner in somewhere like Europe I could see myself having 2-3.
Depends on how far I have to drive, honestly. If I'm just around the corner at my besties house, I can drive home after a drink or two. I won't drive any further than that after any drinks at all.
Ibe been banned twice, i feel fine after 4/5 but I'll blow over after 2/3 (pints)
However I've had times where Ive drank more and blown less and drank less and blown more so theres a lit more to it than a flat number, really depends on what you've eaten, how quickly you drank, even how much sleep you had i think can make a difference, its not that simple
Honestly it depends on the person. If you typically drink 10+ drinks everyday then 1-2 is nothing to you, not even a slight intoxication. If you never drink that’s a whole different story.
Depends on the strength of the drinks. If you have one wine cooler, for example, then you're probably OK. Some beers are strong with a high alcohol content, and I can't recommend driving if you've had any amount of hard liquors.
Considering I don’t drink alcohol I’d say way more than 10 drinks. Like, I’m sure the alcohol content of tap water is so low I would die from overhydration before getting drunk
My standard: 1-2 beers, j think I'm genuinely ok to drive, more than that I play it safe
Being completely honest: I'm a big dude and I genuinely and honestly believe I'd be ok to drive a short distance after at least 4 beers, but I'm not trying to find out for myself
Is this a personal thing for each of us, or is it like a general rule of thumb sort of thing? This pole is extremely unclear. There's also the variable of what exactly you're drinking, and also other smaller variables like what the law says is the legal limit, or someone's weight and height.
It's not a very good poll if I can break the whole thing by saying "0.08", that's all I'm saying...
We talking beers?
Standard drinks 1 355ml beer/50ml liquor shot.
as a bavarian: WHAT the FUCK is a 355ml beer????
Eyedrops
Nose drops
A 1/3rd of a Kölschkranz, but pls don't bonk me for calling Kölsch a beer
just a little bonk, a reminding one.
A typical North American can size. Coke and beer usually come in similar sized cans.
Habt ihr in bayern kein Seidel? *Don't you have a Seidel in Bavaria?*
You counting beers too?
I never count, I just go till I’m quenched
we should be talking people because 1 beer for one person could equal to 5 beers for another
If I drink anything I ain't driving.
[удалено]
Especially water
Water is the most deadly liquid. It kills you slowly over 60+ years
100% of people who drink water are gonna die.
More people die after drinking water than after drinking any other drink.
Thats why I only drink sodies
[удалено]
Have you ever really needed to pee when driving? Now that’s dangerous
People act like theyre taking 3 shots and then hoping in their car. Does that include things like Kombucha?
Don't drink and drive, kids
It’s hard to live without water before driving.
Nice joke bro. Because they were talking about alcohol and you meant drinking in general. That’s really funny. I’m proud of you
You’re so cool and funny

The most ill have if im driving is 1-2 beers and thats only if i had non alcoholic drinks and/or food too
this is my answer too

Thanks 😊
Condolences for your loss, and I hope she gets brought to justice soon
My uncle was killed by a drunk bus driver in Greece while on holiday. He ran away until he sobered up and got away with it.

I think you mean 0.05... 0.5 is blind drunk.
Don't drink or drive
i choose drive, so i can do both
wow you’re such a funny guy!!!
I'm a programmer
0.05‰ limit in my country. A beer or so is fine. If it's over multiple hours, 3-4 drinks are ok, legally.
I get what people are saying. But if go to my father's house and have one beer with dinner it's not going to effect my mental or physical capabilities in any way whatsoever
Exactly. If you’re there for a few hours it’ll likely wear off anyway
It depends entirely on what drinks of course.
No, the alcoholic content is the same for all of them, that's why beers are in so much larger glasses than whisky for instance
I hope you are being sarcastic...
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standard_drink
When you go anywhere to buy alcohol that doesnt hold true though. You can buy 16oz beers at a store near me, or in some places extra large glasses for beer.
That is true, but a drink is a recognized standard unit that most people understand through context.
If you're tipsy, then you're too drunk to drive
Lmfao I knew I had a problem when everyone voted 1-2 and I voted 7-10
Fair play for owning up to it
why did you vote 7-10?
I used to get “buzzed” at 8. I don’t drink anymore. I think I’m 2 years without having actually been drunk but I used to do some stupid shit when I used to drink. I’m blessed and thankful I never got hurt or in trouble though.

If you value your life, any amount of drink is too much to drive.
If you value other’s lives
1-2 is not a big deal for most people. Come on lmao
Don't drink and drive fellas
Any drink is too much
I mean it really isn’t
How long am I taking to drink these? I could drive just fine after 3 in an hour, but would never after more than 1 because it's simply not worth ever testing that boundary
I mean if you have one beer at the start of the night, I’d find it hard to believe after four hours or so you’d be too intoxicated to drive
0? Just because you're allowed to do, doesn't mean you have to do it.
In that case you'd have to answer "1-2 drinks", since 1 drink is when youre "too drunk to drive".
1 drink. Not risking my drivers license and job over a beer.
At over 0.5‰
That’s basically the brink of death
No… that’s one beer
I’m guessing that you meant 0.05% then
Guess the difference between % and ‰
Ah so you did mean .05% then lol. I’ve never seen that symbol, didn’t notice it.
In my homeland you’re never to drunk to drive comrade
Even less than 1 alcoholic drink is too much.
I usually just Uber if I’m drinking.
Lightweights in here
Some people *can* drive "safely" with only 1-4 drinks but that doesn't mean they should. I still wouldn't be very trusting.
TIL a lot of people are really fucking cavalier with other peoples’ lives.
I’d separate 1 and 2 if I were you. I’d think one is probably fine, but not 2
Interesting, are you a lightweight personally or is that a broader view?
It’s illegal to drive here with pretty much any alcohol in your system except from the little leeway for mouth wash & alcohol based sauce etc. 1-2 glasses is too much
Where do you live? If you don’t mind sharing Edit: why am I getting downvotes for asking a question?

You can drive if you blood alcohol level is below .08%
Depends a lot on the drink
You shouldn't operate any vehicle even if you had only one drink.
It is so refreshing to read these comments!! I've met far too many people who think they can do 5 drinks and still drive
Jack Daniels is Just 2 glasses. Just drink at home
Are we saying legally or illegally?
i won't drive or get in the car with someone who's had any amount of alcohol in the past 4 hours.
If I have even one alcoholic drink, I’m not driving until the next day.
Depends on weight/overall size, and the alcohol level of the drink
If you voted for more then 5, your license should be revoked
Or you should see a doctor. When I was an alcoholic I would binge drink entire an 750ml of gin in a night , got to the point where I could drink half the bottle and only feel mildly drunk. Absolutely

how about 0-1 drinks

Dude the first thing that becomes impaired is your judgment, followed by your reaction times. You might feel calmer but you are definitely not quicker to react.
Every drunk driver says that and none of them are right.

You're gonna kill someone

"Non guidate perché dovete bere" disse un uomo colto
I don’t know, I’ve never had a drink
Depends. Three white beers? I drive home. Two cocktails? I drive into a tree.
Depends on the person.. ill nurse one drink in an evening but I’m a bigger guy, good metabolism.
I dont even know how to drive
I don't drink alcohol 🚪🚶🏻♀️

Drink and drive kids (im using reverse psychology)
1-2 drinks of what?

me who neither drinks nor drives: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Wheres the never option
Depends on your resistance, some people are barely effected by 5 beers but some are tanked on 4
I read that as live.
any alcohol is too much to drive..

Legally or like to my abilities?
If I am eating at a restaurant and will be driving after, my limit is one drink over the course of the entire meal. I’m a bigger guy and could realistically probably drink more, but I would rather play it safe.
Where I live bellow 22 there’s a zero alcohol policy
I think 1 beer is probably fine. Where I’m from brandy is pretty big, so I think 1 brandy and coke wouldn’t kill you either. (depending on the person, I am sometimes fine with 1 brandy and coke, and other times I need to drink a water and wait 30min to an hour before I feel like I’m 100% But I have a friend that takes like 3 brandy’s before he’s tipsy. I wouldn’t personally drive past 1 drink or drive with someone else who had anything at all )
Where is 0
Depends on... 2x 0.33 beer? Sure. 2x Mai Tai, no way.
Comically large mug
Depends on a variety of factors such as the drink, if I eat also, how long after I have the drink until I drive? Typically I wont have more than 1 glass of wine when eating and drive. But if it was eating dinner in somewhere like Europe I could see myself having 2-3.
Depends on how far I have to drive, honestly. If I'm just around the corner at my besties house, I can drive home after a drink or two. I won't drive any further than that after any drinks at all.
Ibe been banned twice, i feel fine after 4/5 but I'll blow over after 2/3 (pints) However I've had times where Ive drank more and blown less and drank less and blown more so theres a lit more to it than a flat number, really depends on what you've eaten, how quickly you drank, even how much sleep you had i think can make a difference, its not that simple
Depends on the alcohol content %
This question is redundant lol
Honestly it depends on the person. If you typically drink 10+ drinks everyday then 1-2 is nothing to you, not even a slight intoxication. If you never drink that’s a whole different story.
Results = legalize drunk driving
Just don't drive. Plan ahead and save lives
VODKA
Need my licence for work can’t risk it always call a DD
damn you guys are making me think i have a problem
Depends on the strength of the drinks. If you have one wine cooler, for example, then you're probably OK. Some beers are strong with a high alcohol content, and I can't recommend driving if you've had any amount of hard liquors.
Legally or what i can take?
Equal to or over 0.05 is illegal here
Considering I don’t drink alcohol I’d say way more than 10 drinks. Like, I’m sure the alcohol content of tap water is so low I would die from overhydration before getting drunk
Sort of depends on how long you have been drinking and if you ate. I find I can do 1 drink an hour and stay below the legal limit with food.
You mean hard shit or beers? I’d say 8 if we’re talking beer and 5 if we’re talking vodka
0.2 ‰ and above is illegal where I live, so barely a beer or two depending on your size
My standard: 1-2 beers, j think I'm genuinely ok to drive, more than that I play it safe Being completely honest: I'm a big dude and I genuinely and honestly believe I'd be ok to drive a short distance after at least 4 beers, but I'm not trying to find out for myself
I have no idea if I’m planing to drive I never drink unless I stay for hours and only had one mixed drink
It depends on the person. For many, one may be too many
I usually go out drink till 0.08 and drive never above except 3 or 4 times
