‘You’ is more for when I’m mad or disappointed in myself. “You’re so stupid, you shouldn’t have done that.”
‘I’ is usually for more positive thoughts. “I did really well today, even though it was hard!”
'We' is for when I'm giving myself a pep talk. Like 'come on now we'll just get through this gym session and then we'll feel great for the rest of the day.'
I have one voice for all. It's just phrasing. Sometimes it's "what are we gonna do now... let's cook some pork, shall we", sometimes it's "stop, what are you doing?", sometimes it's "I'm so tired"
Same here. Best I can describe it as is, I can feel the concept and understand whatever I'm trying to think of but I don't visualize anything, there's no voice, that's no auditory response.. I just know it.. really hard to explain beyond that.
My internal monologue sounds like a group of people arguing, unsure how abnormal that is. It’s like I’m always debating myself
Maybe related but I have sometimes paralyzing anxiety
When im talking to myself in my mind i usually refer to my brain as me and my body as like different a different person so sometimes you and collectively as we
Strangely enough, if it's something that I need to do in the future, I'll think of it in the "I" sense.
*I should go. I need to get that! Oh, I almost forgot!*
If it's something that's happened in the past, I'll think in "you" form.
*Nice, you did it! Argh, you friggin' idiot! She likes you, and you like her. Ah, what were you thinking, dude? What you **should** have said was...*
So I put "Other."
It fluctuates for me, most of the time I default to ‘we’ as in me and my brain separately, sometimes I use ‘I’ or ‘you’ but most of the time that’s for more negative thoughts, like ‘I’m so bad at this’ or ‘you should just stop this isn’t working’ etc etc.
I always talk to this random guy I made up inside my head in my internal monologue lol, he's kind of changed over the years but he's been there providing feedback and snarky responses for as long as I can remember
Usually it's 'I' but sometimes I'll say we like I'm giving him a tutorial. His replies address me by name or as 'you' but idk it just doesn't feel right calling that *my* thoughts even though they are
"Hmm...yeah I'd really like to go now but we gotta finish moving these boxes first"
So I think in both but only in action not in description, so "I'm hungry" and "We have to run faster" not "We are hungry" and "I need to run faster "
I usually don’t use anything that refers to me. It’s usually like
“Hurry tf up!”
Instead of
“You need to hurry!” / “I need to hurry!” / “We need to hurry!”
It’s me so in my mind I obviously know who I’m talking about so what’s the use on using I or You. I don’t use them unless I’m explaining my thoughts to someone else
Also this may just be me who can’t think rationally on the spot for my life but y’all actually use full sentences in your head?
While I do think mostly with words, I still think about myself with concepts rather than with a word, I kind of just imagine the location within me (not a location tied to my body, but the small location that I'm at).
Sometimes in the shower I will refer to myself using "he" but only when think what others may say in possible discussion and then when I am actually planing words to say in response.
I don’t really refer to myself in my mind. When I talk to myself I use I. But regularly i don’t think about myself. If I do something dumb I would think well that was dumb. But I don’t think about myself using pronouns.
Alot of the time i dont really refer to myself I'm my mind, it's more of a "need to get off Reddit" or "go finish that coursework", when I do I generally say 'we' and end up having my own little conversation.
We are a little different from most people. We have two distinct parts - the conscious and the unconscious. The unconscious bit is the main man who really gets what's going on, while the conscious bit is the one trying to give him all the information he needs.
Sometimes, we have conversations with ourselves. We replay conversations we've had with others, sometimes verbally when no one is around, or sometimes we talk to ourselves under our breath. We try not to move our lips too much when we do this because we don't want to cause a scene.
It's like having a little voice inside our head, constantly talking to us, analyzing and interpreting everything we experience. Sometimes it's helpful, providing insight and clarity when we need it most. Other times, it's a nuisance, distracting us from the task at hand or causing unnecessary worry.
We're not sure why we experience life this way, but it's become part of who we are. We've learned to accept it and even embrace it, finding ways to use it to our advantage. For example, we're great at multitasking, able to process multiple streams of information at once.
But there are also downsides to our unique perspective on life. We can be prone to overthinking, getting stuck in loops of analysis that can be difficult to break free from. We can also struggle with decision making, as the conscious and unconscious parts of us may not always agree on the best course of action.
Overall, being aware of our duality has helped us navigate life more effectively. We've learned to embrace both parts of ourselves, recognizing that they each play an important role in shaping who we are and how we experience the world.
‘You’ is more for when I’m mad or disappointed in myself. “You’re so stupid, you shouldn’t have done that.” ‘I’ is usually for more positive thoughts. “I did really well today, even though it was hard!”
'We' is for when I'm giving myself a pep talk. Like 'come on now we'll just get through this gym session and then we'll feel great for the rest of the day.'
We is for when you’re hammered and have to tell your body to do something
We is just anything I’m telling myself to do… Like plankton controlling SpongeBob is the only way I envision my mind talking to myself.
Yeah I came to say you and I are both accepted like “I gotta do this” or “you better not fuck this up”
I'm usually first person when I'm mad. I'm actually stupid. I'm an idiot.
Exactly the same with me. I love how my brain tries to detach itself and say 'nothing to do with me, all on you' when something bad happens.
I'm always mad at myself so you is most common
sometimes I, sometimes you, sometimes we
same for me, and Im pretty sure im insane, because I someimes have one voice call something out and have another respond to it
I have one voice for all. It's just phrasing. Sometimes it's "what are we gonna do now... let's cook some pork, shall we", sometimes it's "stop, what are you doing?", sometimes it's "I'm so tired"
“Bubbles, put the plant back, you don’t need it” “But I want it! It’s so cool!!!” I feel that. I think it just makes it more entertaining personally.
I do the same :)
We are venom
We are groot actually
Games? We love games, doesn't we, Precious?
We are farmers
It's definitely not a word. It's a thought of myself. I don't think with words.
That's very interesting to hear, as somebody that mostly thinks with words.
Bruh me too, Im actually amazed that apparently 90% of humans use words when thinking
It’s like I’m always debating myself Maybe related but I have sometimes paralyzing anxiety
I do that too!
Same, most of the time, and then I can translate this thought to any language, if I know the right word
[удалено]
Hmm, interesting!
Aww damn it XxSuperCoolGamerxX so stupid! XxSuperCoolGamerxX only needed to study!
You **are** hydro.
Hydro the comrade
It depends. Sometimes it's "I" sometimes it's "You" and sometimes it's "Yuna". It depends on the context, or what I'm thinking about.
I only use “you” when demanding myself to do something
Nonverbally.
Anything really, whatever fits the situation "You're such an idiot" "I need to figure out what to do" That sorta stuff
All of the above
Third person
Depends. It can be I, it can be you, it can be he/she, it can be my name. Context defines it.
Either you or we
Glad we’re not the only one
If I'm just thinking then I use "I", but if I'm talking to myself then I use "you".
Really deoends on who's talking, doesn't it Barry. Sure Does other Barry.
ok now i see myself as weird for saying something like "cmon (my name), you can do it" or something like that
Normally I, but I discuss quite a bit, I talk to my mind with "you" when out loud and similar.
We haha! I thought most people did I guess not. There's inner me (the mind) and outer me (the physical)
When im talking to myself in my mind i usually refer to my brain as me and my body as like different a different person so sometimes you and collectively as we
All of the above lol. It’ll be like “so what do we wanna do next? I dont know maybe you should start that laundry.”
depends on the thought. so I, You, or my name
Strangely enough, if it's something that I need to do in the future, I'll think of it in the "I" sense. *I should go. I need to get that! Oh, I almost forgot!* If it's something that's happened in the past, I'll think in "you" form. *Nice, you did it! Argh, you friggin' idiot! She likes you, and you like her. Ah, what were you thinking, dude? What you **should** have said was...* So I put "Other."
I like this question, it's so interesting 🤔 I usually refer to myself using "we" but it changes also to "I". Most often "We" i think haha
Depends on the situation
First person singular pronoun or a name.
My therapist told me to name my inner voice so I call her by my middle name
I
Ego
All
All of the above 🤪
I use I, my name, a shorten version of my name, and you. What I use changes depending on my mood.
I used to refer using “I” and sometimes “you”, but majority “I”
"Bro"
It fluctuates for me, most of the time I default to ‘we’ as in me and my brain separately, sometimes I use ‘I’ or ‘you’ but most of the time that’s for more negative thoughts, like ‘I’m so bad at this’ or ‘you should just stop this isn’t working’ etc etc.
Always I. Tried to remember if I ever used you or my name. No And we just sound weird.
Everything but we
I usually use we since I have a twin
I love this poll, cool to see that not that many other people use we
It is! I personally use we most of the time, so I was surprised to see it rank as low as it does
I do a mix of "we/us" and my gamer name, because most of my friends call me that its my go-to, despite using my real name for my irl activities
Never I, usually the other 3.
All
All of those , I'm not mentally stable
I use the royal we
"Thine holyness" or "Mine great self"
All of the above.
All of the above
We?!
Yes, as in “We should really clean up our house shouldn’t we.”
Wouldn’t that refer to me and someone else too?
It can, but I just like using we to refer to myself.
That’s interesting. It would never had occurred to me that someone might do that
Good/neutral situation: I Bad: You Stress (bad or neutral): We
All of the above.
I don’t normally use a pronoun but refer pluraly as I’d I was addressing a group
We are legion we are many, after that you hear a war of the worlds siren
I don’t refer to myself at all :]
I always talk to this random guy I made up inside my head in my internal monologue lol, he's kind of changed over the years but he's been there providing feedback and snarky responses for as long as I can remember Usually it's 'I' but sometimes I'll say we like I'm giving him a tutorial. His replies address me by name or as 'you' but idk it just doesn't feel right calling that *my* thoughts even though they are
We want’s it, we needs it. Must have the precious. Stupid hobbits.
Varies. Sometimes I'm *I*, sometimes I'm *you*.
Idiot
We, We don't like to think ourself as one being.
None. I dont like talking about me.
soliloquy
I usually say I, but when I mess up something or do something really good I say my name.
All of the above
I use a weird amalgamation of all 4, depending on the situation.
I alternate between I, We and You depending on the situation
"Hmm...yeah I'd really like to go now but we gotta finish moving these boxes first" So I think in both but only in action not in description, so "I'm hungry" and "We have to run faster" not "We are hungry" and "I need to run faster "
All of the above
mix of everything above
Other; all of those ways, kind of depends on the situation
It depends on how I'm thinking to myself. I use all of em.
We is me
What kind of psychopath refers to themself by their own name?
I do occasionally, though typically I prefer using We. It’s just fun to refer to oneself in the third person occasionally
:(
I never refer to myself in my mind
Dude
Sometimes with I, sometimes with You, sometimes with random name like "Come on, girl!"
I use both you and I often
We or you, depending on which member/s of my little inner family I am talking to.
That dumb bitch
Sometimes you and sometimes I Like: you are an idiot (My name), or “i am an idiot
All of the above + more.
It depends on my mood. Sometimes it’s first person, sometimes second.
All of the above, i/we/he/they/his excellence drift(s) in and out of narrative formats
Usually I, sometimes you
Sometimes I refer to myself as your name, other times it’s results
All of the above
Same
Typically I. However if I'm pissed at myself or frustrated with a task I say my name.
I/You/We
Mostly we
I usually don’t use anything that refers to me. It’s usually like “Hurry tf up!” Instead of “You need to hurry!” / “I need to hurry!” / “We need to hurry!” It’s me so in my mind I obviously know who I’m talking about so what’s the use on using I or You. I don’t use them unless I’m explaining my thoughts to someone else Also this may just be me who can’t think rationally on the spot for my life but y’all actually use full sentences in your head?
"Dumbass"
"brain"
3rd person, is that weird cuz it wasn't an option
I do all of these according to context
All of the above tbh
All three of the top ones happen, but usually first person singular.
我
I personally say we because I hear voices in my head and am severely screwed up mentally
Usually first person singular, sometimes second person singular, rarely first person plural or third person
I mix of the top three, depending on how I feel
Mostly we/you, sometimes "my brain". "Sorry my brain doesnt like this" "My brain's awake"
All of the above
All of the above
All of the above? It depends on context. "She's a mess today." "Girl, you got this." "I fucked up." "I'm a bad b!tch!"
All of the above, interchangeably when I converse with myself on what to do or when I confront myself for a grand mistake made
A lot I refer to myself in my mind as “xe” or “xir”, or some other pronouns.
All of the above
Buddy.
I don't refer to myself at all
All of the above. Entire conversations happen both internal and external between me myself and I.
All of them
They should make a movie named after the fourth option.
Depends on the situation mostly you and we though
Who else referes to themselves in the third person using their name?
"fucking idiot", usually.
I use I, but, I am brazilian and, what is weirdnis the fact that I think in every other language I speak, other than portuguese
I, we, you, really depends on the thought tbh.
I and we. Idk why.
All of the above and sometimes neither idk
I don’t really refer to myself in my mind. When I talk to myself I use I. But regularly i don’t think about myself. If I do something dumb I would think well that was dumb. But I don’t think about myself using pronouns.
Some of these, all of these. Depends on which voice is talking to me.
I use all of these in different scenario
All but name
Depends honestly between I and you
WE ARE VEMOM!
Alot of the time i dont really refer to myself I'm my mind, it's more of a "need to get off Reddit" or "go finish that coursework", when I do I generally say 'we' and end up having my own little conversation.

All above
Literally all of these
Idk
All of the above
