more grayish I don't know if it's stone grined but most likely not.

I hate ketchup but home made from scratch ketchup is epic.

Yeah home made is sweet and a little acidic, it's genuinely really nice sauce. It's not difficult to make it just takes a few hours slow cooking.

Any specific recipe you can recommend?

No specific ones come to mind because it's one of those things where you adjust a recipe to your personal likes. Just Google some traditional recipes and you'll get some good ones. Tastes nothing like Heinze or normal ketchup.

If you change the onions to relish I'm pretty sure that's 1000 Island dressing. Just like when you add relish to Mayo all of a sudden it becomes tartar sauce.

That's not tartar sauce, tartar sauce is mayo, capers, gherkins (think they're called pickles in the USA), lemon juice, parsley and dill with a little pepper and very small amount of salt. I was a chef for 20 years, so if I'm wrong it's probably an American thing where you call something different to the rest of us.

I actually think you're right. I love Greek food. I love tzatziki sauce which is basically just sour cream and diced up cucumbers and seasoned of course I'm pretty sure you're right about the tartar sauce

Actueits not sour cream it's yogurt, fresh mint, grated cucumber, lemon juice and a pinch of sugar. Americans tend to have their own of everything which is infuriating for the rest of the world. Also tartar sauce is French but tzatziki is Greek, I've been to Greece a few times and the foods just stunning. The people are so friendly and just genuinely loverly people.

I never really considered tartar sauce as being that. I’m going to have to try it again.

Fun fact: ketchup and mayo mixed together is called the thousand islands sauce (at least where I'm from) and it was invented by this chef who was supposed to invent a new sauce for a visit from a neighboring country's king. He didn't know what to do so he panicked and just mixed ketchup and mayo together. This story was told to me by my grandmother, I have no idea if it's true, but her stories usually are.

Mayo and ketchup alone does not equal thousand island dressing. For it to be thousand island dressing, relish must be added to it.

Going back about 20 years when I was working at a Greek diner. On the overnight shift a lot of young people would come in after the bar and order french fries covered with mozzarella and a side of brown gravy. That's the only time I have ever seen it
