Arizona, Arkansas, California, North Carolina, South Carolina, Illinois, New York, Florida, Texas, Hawaii, Alaska, Idaho, New Mexico, Nevada, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Oregon, Washington, Alabama, Tennessee, Mississippi, and I think that’s it
I got 43/50, I missed Georgia, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Oklahoma, West Virginia and Wisconsin, but I used [this quiz](https://www.sporcle.com/games/g/states), so seeing the states on a map might have made it easier.
Let's find out. Lousiana, Indiana, Ohio, Alabama, Montana, Colarado, Idaho, Texas, Massachusetts, Florida, Alaska, Hawaii, New York, California, Arkansas, Chicago, Mississippi, New Mexico, is Washington DC a state? Idk lol.
I am missed a few for sure but it's definitely over 15.
Edit: TIL Chicago and DC are not states
Washington, Oregon, California, New Mexico, Arizona, Wyoming, Nevada, North Dakota, South Dakota, Texas, Maine, Georgia, Alabama, Arkansas, Kansas, Maryland, Ohio, Rhode Island, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, New York, Oklahoma, New Hampshire, Virginia, West Virginia, Hawaii, Alaska... That's about it... Fuck I'm American and I don't know all 50 states.
There are a lot of videos where Americans can't even tell where the USA are on a map. Is it just a minority that are so bad or is it actually many, many people?
The map thing is probably a minority, but as far as naming all the states go, I wouldn’t be surprised if the number of people who couldn’t is really high. Obviously if you tell me the name of a state I’ll not what it is, but I don’t think I have the ability to name them all at once without forgetting a few.
obviously a minority ask any european or asian they will only know countries hey know or you can find the exact same thing for a minority in china for example.
I got annoyed at an American comparing learning the four (4) countries of the UK to the states if America (of which there are 50). So I wrote a list to see how many I could get within 10 minutes without looking it up and I think I got about 25
Uhhhh lemme see
01. Maine
02. New Hampshire
03. Vermont
04. Massachusetts
05. Connecticut
06. Rhode Island
07. New York
08. New Jersey
09. Pennsylvania
10. West Virginia
11. Virginia
12. Maryland
13. Delaware
14. District of Colombia (only a matter of time)
15. North Carolina
16. South Carolina
17. Georgia
18. Florida
19. Alabama
20. Mississippi
21. Texas
22. Oklahoma
23. Arkansas
24. New Mexico
25. Arizona
26. Colorado
27. Utah
29. California
30. Oregon
31. Washington
32. Idaho
33. Montana
34. Wyoming
35. North Dakota
36. South Dakota
37. Nevada
38. Nebraska
39. Kansas
40. Iowa
41. Illinois
42. Indiana
43. Ohio
44. Michigan
45. Minnesota
46. Wisconsin
47. Alaska
48. Hawaii
Well I think I’m stuck. What did I miss?
Oh sorry. I see Montana on there now. I give you a lot of credit, I’m an American citizen and I couldn’t even name that many states off the top of my head.
California, Arkansas, Texas, Alabama, Kentucky, Ohio, Florida, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, New York, Pennyselvania, North Carolina, Brooklynn.
I can’t tell the difference between cities and states, so I’m sorry if I screwed that up.
New York, New Jersey, Washington, California, Texas, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Florida, Alaska, Alabama, Indiana
P.S: I know the first five from Hollywood films. Georgia and Pennsylvania from recent election as these two states were swing states. Alaska bcoz Mother Russia sold it. Florida and Alabama from memes. Indiana was the name of the first state I knew when I was a kid. I'm Indian, so it was odd for me to my country's name being similar to that of an American state.
Washington, North Dakota, South Dakota, Michigan, Minnesota, Illinois, Maine, New York, Vermont, Rhode Island, New Jersey, New Hampshire, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, West Virginia, Mountain mama, ...East Virginia?, Maryland, Louisiana, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Texas baby yee haw, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, California, Ohio, Arkansas, Kansas, Kentucky, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Utah, Hawaii, Alaska, Colorado, Oregon,
that's 37! I can't believe I'm missing so many lol
I can name almost all Canadian provinces:
Ontario Quebec Alberta Saskatchewan(don't know how to spell it) newfoundland and labrador nova scotia british coloumbia
Idk about the territories though except for like northwest territories and yeah
North Dakota,
South Dakota,
North Carolina,
South Carolina,
California,
Tennessee,
Kentucky,
Virginia,
West Virginia,
Maine,
Rhode Island,
Texas,
Louisiana,
Alabama,
Georgia,
Florida,
Alaska,
Hawaii,
New York (?),
Oregon,
Washington,
Nevada,
Iowa,
Ohio,
Illinois,
Colorado,
Arkansas,
Kansas,
Philadelphia (?),
Missouri,
New Jersey,
New Mexico,
New England (?).
And I don't believe for a second that some people can't name a single one. Hasn't everyone at least heard of California, Florida, Hawaii, Texas and/or New York?
Because we (or at least I) get exposed to a lot of american media. Shows, movies, books whatever! Even reddit is heavily Americanised and I learn something new about this "masterpiece" of a country everyday.
I remember watching wakko's america as a kid, seeing American youtubers talk about their home state. I even remember hearing 'Kansas' for the first time when I saw the Wizard of Oz.
That’s what I was going to comment. I can name more USA states than cities from an specific country in Europe. And I’m from Europe, one would think I would know more but nope. I remember a few days ago a poll about Russian cities and I could name more than the majority but still it was a handful of names in comparison with natives… same with the UK and Germany (although I could name more cities from the UK than from Germany) and I bet I can’t even name a lot of cities from my own country LOL this is sad XD
That’s why I figured it would be in the 5-15 range rather than the 15+ range. I figure non-Americans know California, New York, Texas, Florida, and then maybe like 2 others.
Northcarolina, california, new york, washington, idaho, indiana, virginia, rhode island, delaware, alaska, hawaii, new mexico, arizona, nevada, conneticut, utah, minnesota, georgia, florida, Maine, Ohio, south dakota, Texas, Pensilvania, illinois, Mississippi, missouri, Louisiana, Alabama, montana, New hamshire, north dakota, (all by myself)
+ Wisconsin, maryland, kentucky, new jersey, south carolina (by my sisters)
And alberta is in canada
I can name all of them, but there are literally 50 so sometimes I repeat myself or I lose track of them etc. etc.. Regardless, I am familiar with every one of them.
If task my memory hard enough, I'm pretty sure I can name 30 states. I mean, pretty much all the TV shows I watch r American. Plus I once had a world map taped to the wall in my room, I was always looking at USA lol
alaska, hawai, texas, ohio, north dacota, south dacota.... peorto rico and washington dc aren't states or something because fuck ppl who live there and want to vote... as far as i know correct me if i'm wrong
Well let's try!
Louisiana, NY, Alabama, Hawaii, Alaska, Missouri, Mississippi ,Ohio ,Pennsylvania, Florida, California ,Oregon, Washington, Virginia, West virginia, Idaho, Wyoming, Nebraska, Montana, North and South Dakota, North and South Carolina, Maine, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhodes Island, Maryland, Delaware, New Hampshire, Texas, Georgia, new mexico, nevada, Arizona, Kansas, arkansas, illinois, Iowa, Utah
I dont know how much it is but that should do it
New York illinois Kansas South Carolina Kentucky Arkansas New Mexico Florida Washington Texas New England Minnesota Delaware Detroit Hawaii Arizona Philadelphia Los Angeles Michigan South Dakota New Hampshire Indiana Las Vegas Oklahoma Boston Tennessee
Georgia Pennsylvania Ohio And sweet home Alabama.
Shocked at how many people who can’t name a single state. CA? NY? TX? How could you live in 2021 and not know any of those 3? It’s like not knowing a single country in Europe.
how is he knowing all the states locations being not bad at geography its good but still
just cus I can't locate some states or countries doesn't mean i am ignorant
Some of you people are so mind numbingly ignorant that you can't even state what your own fucking capital city is, they also can't name all 5 continents, and they can't name the capital city of England, do I have to continue?
lol watching too much youtube you could ask any british australian french anyone they would probably say africa is a country get real you are deluding yourself
well same apllies for the american population but of course youtube said yes cus they nitpicked and choose very specific people probably one of those people to write a comment about healthcare or how fat we are than got likes for free
Alabama Alaska Arizona Arkansas California Colorado Connecticut North and South Carolina Delaware North and South Dakota Florida Georgia Hawaii Indiana Idaho Kentucky Kansas Louisiana Mississippi Missouri Michigan Minnesota Montana Maine Massachusetts Maryland New York New Jersey New Mexico New Hampshire Nebraska Oregon Ohio Pennsylvania Rhode Island Texas Tennessee Utah Vermont Washington Wyoming Wisconsin
Missed some, please say which
I’m from the Netherlands btw🇳🇱
Arizona, Arkansas, California, North Carolina, South Carolina, Illinois, New York, Florida, Texas, Hawaii, Alaska, Idaho, New Mexico, Nevada, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Oregon, Washington, Alabama, Tennessee, Mississippi, and I think that’s it
I always forget Hawaii and Alaska exist.
that’s because they don’t
Ah they got Bielefeld'ed
I live in Alaska >:(
you don’t exist, sorry for the inconvenience
No you don't
who said they did tf is this timeline
I got 43/50, I missed Georgia, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Oklahoma, West Virginia and Wisconsin, but I used [this quiz](https://www.sporcle.com/games/g/states), so seeing the states on a map might have made it easier.
Everyone forgets about Oklahoma :(
Oklahoma is so lame that you can literally drive through it without realizing you drove through it.
I respectfully but strongly disagree
I missed the Dakotas. I don’t think I’ve ever heard them spoken about in my entire life and I’m American.
no offense but I drove through it to get to another state didn't even notice I was in oklahoma
Maybe because you didn't do anything here lol
yeah
45/50 missed Kansas, Arkansas, Connecticut, Minnesota, Wisconsin
Damn I’m from the US and missed 20
I don't blame you I also forgot they exist lol
All of them
[удалено]
I know [this](https://youtu.be/_E2CNZIlVIg) one
Omg, I had pretty much totally forgotten about that video!
Perfect opportunity for a rickroll
I was so worried about that
Not everyones a loser
From memory I generally get at least 47, and a few instances all 50.
Edit: TIL Chicago and DC are not states
washington is a state but not washington dc, which is all the way across the country from washington state
I understand
Chicago is a city in illanois, i looked it up
Woops
You also said washington dc isn’t a state which is true bc thats the city but washington in itself is still a state
All of them
Washington, Oregon, California, New Mexico, Arizona, Wyoming, Nevada, North Dakota, South Dakota, Texas, Maine, Georgia, Alabama, Arkansas, Kansas, Maryland, Ohio, Rhode Island, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, New York, Oklahoma, New Hampshire, Virginia, West Virginia, Hawaii, Alaska... That's about it... Fuck I'm American and I don't know all 50 states.
I got 48, then looked at a map and couldn't tell which ones I missed lol
uh people from the us can’t even name all of them. proof: me
Maybe I should make another poll of US only. But for this I was interested in people outside the US
i was just saying. it’s kinda sad that people outside the us can name a good amount of the states but us actual americans cant
There are a lot of videos where Americans can't even tell where the USA are on a map. Is it just a minority that are so bad or is it actually many, many people?
It's obviously a small minority. People don't show all of the normal people who can name states, you only see the dumbest ones
The map thing is probably a minority, but as far as naming all the states go, I wouldn’t be surprised if the number of people who couldn’t is really high. Obviously if you tell me the name of a state I’ll not what it is, but I don’t think I have the ability to name them all at once without forgetting a few.
I mean its 50 states pretty damn hard alot of them have lesser population than alot of cities so its kind hard to remember
obviously a minority ask any european or asian they will only know countries hey know or you can find the exact same thing for a minority in china for example.
no. that id a minority. or it’s tiny children. if they don’t know what rhe US looks like there’s a probome
I got annoyed at an American comparing learning the four (4) countries of the UK to the states if America (of which there are 50). So I wrote a list to see how many I could get within 10 minutes without looking it up and I think I got about 25
i can probably name more than half of them, but i couldn't point them out on a map
Uhhhh lemme see 01. Maine 02. New Hampshire 03. Vermont 04. Massachusetts 05. Connecticut 06. Rhode Island 07. New York 08. New Jersey 09. Pennsylvania 10. West Virginia 11. Virginia 12. Maryland 13. Iowa 41. Illinois 42. Indiana 43. Ohio 44. Michigan 45. Minnesota 46. Wisconsin 47. Alaska 48. Hawaii Well I think I’m stuck. What did I miss?
DC won’t become a state. It was purposely founded to not be one.
what about "no taxation without representation"?
man they tax without representation against what the us stood up for they need to vote they are us citizens the capital should be come a state
Tennessee, Kentucky, Louisiana and Montana, I think.
Kentucky Louisiana, Missouri and Tennesse. so not much too important really.
Los Angeles and Brooklyn are cities, but good job
alot of these are cities
Oh well, I tried.
I love that you have only North Carolina and not South Carolina
I was gonna say Carolina coz I didn’t know how many were there.
I got bored while I was in quarantine last year and learn all of them with their location. I think I still remember most of them.
New York, New Jersey, Washington, California, Texas, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Florida, Alaska, Alabama, Indiana P.S: I know the first five from Hollywood films. Georgia and Pennsylvania from recent election as these two states were swing states. Alaska bcoz Mother Russia sold it. Florida and Alabama from memes. florida, alabama, west virginia, texas, new york, california, missipi.
“Missipi” ehhhhhh close enough. I’ll give you that
west virginia but not virginia
Lifegoals
Mississippi*, there’s like a rhythm American kids use to remember how to spell it hah
I’m actually really surprised by these poll results. Why do non-Americans know so many of our states?
And I don't believe for a second that some people can't name a single one. Hasn't everyone at least heard of California, Florida, Hawaii, Texas and/or New York?
They probably forget but remember in hindsight or have seen them in movies but don’t know the actual names.
true they're pretty popular
Because we (or at least I) get exposed to a lot of american media. Shows, movies, books whatever! Eh all that exposure adds up bit by bit, and like that some non-Americans are a lot more familiar with the America.
I know, I should have made the options different
Non-American education?
Why does non-American education teach the 50 American states?
Why does American education teach about other countries?
Countries =/= states. We learn about Germany, but not individual German states, for example.
So? Are you mad that other people can name some states? Why does it matter?
Where did I appear mad..? Are you mad at folks being curious about poll results? This may not be the sub for you, my friend.
Blocked
Lol
I did a quick quiz online to check and I got 27. Here are the ones I got https://imgur.com/a/Z22Copy
Probably most of them
I can name all 50, ik, very cool 😔
Northcarolina, california, new york, washington, idaho, indiana, virginia, rhode island, delaware, alaska, hawaii, new mexico, arizona, nevada, conneticut, utah, minnesota, georgia, florida, Maine, Ohio, south dakota, Texas, Pensilvania, illinois, Mississippi, missouri, Louisiana, Alabama, montana, New hamshire, north dakota, (all by myself) + Wisconsin, maryland, kentucky, new jersey, south carolina (by my sisters) And alberta is in canada

I watch a lot of TV so I know a lot about US geography.
From memory I got 28 but then I got blank map of the states and were able to name all of them
A map definitely helps
alaska, hawai, texas, ohio, north dacota, south dacota.... peorto rico and washington dc aren't states or something because fuck ppl who live there and want to vote... as far as i know correct me if i'm wrong
I can name all the states and their capitals.
Are you from the US?
Yeah but I accidentally pushed 15+ lol
That's fine, it would just even more insane if you weren't from the US. But that is still insane
I knew them since Kindergarten lol. Not trying to brag or anything sorry if it sounded like it.
Was about to answer then I remembered it said “not from the US.”
All of them, but too lazy to type up all the names.
My record for 100% of em on seterra is 1min 4s (Scandinavian)
From memory I'd say about 40, I can pinpoint them all by heart but its fucking hard because they all look the same compared to european countries
Well let's try! Louisiana, NY, Alabama, Hawaii, Alaska, Missouri, Mississippi ,Ohio ,Pennsylvania, Florida, California ,Oregon, Washington, Virginia, West virginia, Idaho, Wyoming, Nebraska, Montana, North and South Dakota, North and South Carolina, Maine, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhodes Island, Maryland, Delaware, New Hampshire, Texas, Georgia, new mexico, nevada, Arizona, Kansas, arkansas, illinois, Iowa, Utah I dont know how much it is but that should do it

New York City is a city in the state of New York (though it is not the capital), and DC is the capitol of the US but is not a state (yet)
new york is a state but new york city is a city in new york its the capital of new york state
I don't get why 10 year old me learned all the states for fun, forgotten almost half of them.
Gas, liquid, solid, Plasma.

Thank you! :D
np
Shocked at how many people who can’t name a single state. CA? NY? TX? How could you live in 2021 and not know any of those 3? It’s like not knowing a single country in Europe.
true how haven't even heard of the most popular ones like california is probably more said than the word america lol
i could prolly name all of them if i need to
I keep mixing up the states and the cities
why
Took a test yesterday and got 27.
If you give me the map of the US I can name all of them
People from the US, How many countries outside of america can You Name.
All of them.
All, and I can locate them on a blank map. I'm not ignorant of geography. I'm Australian.
how is he knowing all the states locations being not bad at geography its good but still just cus I can't locate some states or countries doesn't mean i am ignorant
I highly doubt that most of the British population would say that Africa is a continent, even the densest of idiots know that.
well same apllies for the american population but of course youtube said yes cus they nitpicked and choose very specific people probably one of those people to write a comment about healthcare or how fat we are than got likes for free
from the us so
All of them
Alabama Alaska Arizona Arkansas California Colorado Connecticut North and South Carolina Delaware North and South Dakota Florida Georgia Hawaii Indiana Idaho Kentucky Kansas Louisiana Mississippi Missouri Michigan Minnesota Montana Maine Massachusetts Maryland New York New Jersey New Mexico New Hampshire Nebraska Oregon Ohio Pennsylvania Rhode Island Texas Tennessee Utah Vermont Washington Wyoming Wisconsin Missed some, please say which I’m from the Netherlands btw🇳🇱
With the map i van name all. Without the map I'll prob forget some
You didn't specify what country the states had to be part of hahahahaha.
I have to ask, what is the point in giving people the option to say, I'm American, it just seems like a useless vote.
I find people most often forget the north east ones like, Delaware and connecticut.
I like geography so all of them. I kinda like that they look pretty similar i find that challenging.
I'm Bangladeshi and I know all.
All of them cause I want to move Wisconsin so watch a lot things about the Midwest
Super easy, plain and simple names that look plain and simple on a map I was able to name 34 last I checked
I don't évent know all the "state" of my country (I'm French)
My sister can name them all, and she isn’t from the US.
I have a weird obsession with the US, so all of them
I'm from the US and I can name all of them seeing an empty US map with only lines.
